Great place! I feel like this is one of those super lowkey places that you wouldn't know what it is unless you knew about it. That was the case for me anyways! It's located right across the street from Sandfly @ Streamline (I used their parking lot.. shh). I've had my eye on black rabbit for a while now so we stopped in for a quick bite to eat and WOW, it was great! I knew it looked good but the taste and quality of the food exceeded the pictures. I chose to get the Cubano (typical Cuban sandwich ingredients) but dangit if it wasn't one of the better Cubans I've tried! I was very impressed with it. I chose to get the German potato salad as my side and I wasn't a fan. I guess I'm used to southern way of doing potato salad, idk it just didn't taste right for me. Service was great also, the lady that served us was very kind and helpful! She might have been the owner, idk she just seemed like she really cared and wanted you to enjoy your experience! What I didn't know about this place is that it's also a bar! One side is sand which shop and the left side is a bar, kinda neat! You can elect to sit on either side to dine. It's cool how they have it set up, the bar almost wraps all the way around to the sandwich shop side and it turns into an ordering counter and all. Really cool place, great food, and great service! Love this neighborhood spot! Fantastic welcoming staff, reasonable priced drinks at the bar, specials by the day.... but I'm here to really gab about the food. The black rabbit is a sandwich kitchen with a full bar or vice versa, and the sandwiches are excellent. I love that they offer half sandwiches because the half is PLENTY for one person. We got the cuban (better than others in the city, honestly) and the smoked turkey (turkey, havarti, pepper jelly). Both were filled to the brim and great quality. We also got the German potato salad (a full bowl for 3$ instead of the half for 2$) and it was ideal. No mayo (love mayo but this method is better imo) and lots of mustard / vinegar. The potatoes were smashed reds. Just great can't wait to try the other sandwiches. Only "standard" lacking for me on the menu is a classic Italian, but I hear they do it sometimes as a special. read more

I'm a local and native Savannahian. I've been to Black Rabbit many times and have always left happy and full! Service is always great and the food is delicious! The regular menu is hard to stray from but every special I've had has always been worth it. Highly recommend! It is a smaller place so not ideal for a larger group (more than 3 or 4 ppl) to sit inside but there is outside seating that can accommodate a larger group. Location is also relatively close to Forsyth Park if you want to do a pick up order and eat in the park. Items I particularly love are the smoked turkey sandwich, ham&cheese croissant, salad with creamy lemon scallion dressing, and german potato salad. Also, they have a great cold brew. read more

The bar itself is nice, the only appealing part. The food is small and overpriced. $8 for a half of a small sandwich, without a side. The whole at $16 still is not a big sandwich and again, does not come with a side. The drinks seemed all right but again are not the cheapest. My biggest complaint was the service. The several times I've been in there the bartenders always seem to have an attitude, not very friendly at all. Their behavior toward customers would be normal in a place like New York, but no, this is Savannah. It took me so many visits to tell myself to stop going because of all the good reviews and the fact that I live so close to it. The last time I was there, I brought some friends who were visiting from another country and we did not have the best time. CHEER UP!!! read more

Terrible experience. We've been looking forward to trying their food for a while. We came there today and didn't even get to try anything on the menu because of how rude the service was. The guy with the greenish hair who I am assuming is the server had an attitude from the moment we opened the door. He made us feel super unwelcome and proceeded to have an attitude because our dog was about to mark their sign outside. Which we even offered to clean. As soon as he saw us opening the door, he almost yelled at us saying that the dogs were not allowed. Wow. After we sat outside, he proceed to have an attitude, threw the menus on the table and started running around obviously upset. My husband even asked him if he was all right and if he needed anything. We didn't even mind if the dog was not allowed but working in a restaurant you should at least be able to communicate it in a professional way. We felt so unwelcome we did not even think about staying there for a minute longer. We heard many good things about this place but after today's experience we won't be back. Best sandwiches ever made, ingredients made perfectly every time. The Smoked Turkey is the most delicious sandwich I have ever had, I cannot get enough of it. The pepper jelly is probably the best thing I've ever tasted, ever. I don't know how they do it, but even the onions taste uniquely fantastic. This place was awesome. Total local spot. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but when I went it wasn't crowded so seating wasn't an issue. They had jazz music playing, and I just felt like I was at somebody's house for lunch. Very welcoming atmosphere. We ordered the club and the cuban. The club was so good. Probably one of the best clubs I've had. Fresh ingredients and they didn't skimp either. The cuban sandwich was consumed by a cuban who was very impressed. I will be going back. My only suggestion would be that they post their specials on Instagram more frequently and earlier in the day. I would be more likely to dine here if I had all of my options up front. read more
