Food is good for a bar. Service is also good. It is a dive bar with pool tables. This place would get a higher rating but they charge for refills on soft drinks. I can't recommend this place. I hate when they nickel and dime you.

Food absolutely sucks I ordered 2 burgers with 1 bacon on the side but came in the same plate the drink I got was a Long Island ice tea which was absolutely disgusting so sour and bitter can't even finish it plus my boyfriend ordered a Miller light and gave him a different beer never again so much batter places to go around the area

We discovered this place last night and what a treasure it turned out to be. Crazy to think I've driven past it a hundred times and never thought to go in. It's an awesome "hometown" bar with a Cheers feel to it. The owner, the staff and the patrons are all super friendly. We had heard about their wings and wanted to give them a run for their money. So we ordered EIGHT flavors! WHOA!! From Hot Buffalo, to Hot Teryaki, Jerk, Asian Fusian, BBQ Wasabi, JD Bourbon BBQ, Hot Crack Wings, and Gluttony (which was a bacon ranch fried with bacon fat!) OMG!! Solid, relaxing bar/restaurant with pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, beer pong, and TV's everywhere. What else do you need? We give Blackboard 5 stars!

This is an ok bar (I didn't try their food). It was mostly an older crowd (40s-50s+) when I visited.

Not my ideal place. Too crowded, but I'd take it as it is especially that my co workers go there after a hard days work and just unwind.

On a recent visit, enjoyed the "Fat Bastard Burger", advertised as a 10 oz Angus beef burger.

I'm not sure if it was a shift change or just timing, but even though the restaurant wasn't very busy, it felt like we were left a bit on the side for a while. Nothing major, just something noticeable. Also, while the food is creative and well made, some items felt a bit pricey for the portion size (for example, a meatball serving), so value may depend on what you order. That said, it definitely wouldn't stop me from coming back. Good food, good beer selection, and overall a solid spot.

I would bring everyone there. When they opened the new location in Windsor , it was still great. It was a birthday outing type of thing. I went again last week, which was likely my final time. For the past few years, I've been giving it a pass... growing pains, maybe? But the food is not what it was. The succulent, juicy brisket that I used to dream of has been dry and cold for the last year or so (probably 3 or 4 visits). The burnt ends, which used to be as addictive, are now no longer made from brisket...but what seems to be cubed chuck...again, dry. Texas sausage and pulled pork are still ok, as are the sides. On top of that, they are always short staffed, and the staff that they do have is not helpful...not friendly.. Just a big NOT anymore. I haven't been to the Hartford or New Haven locations recently, but as far as Windsor is concerned, it will not be going back anytime soon. I don't mind paying the premium prices for quality food and service, but you are no longer premium. Please figure this out. My favorite place no longer exists.. and I really want it to return to the quality of the past.

Perhaps their other food is better than what I ordered, which was a combination grinder, but I have to say compared to others that I've had in the area, this seemed more like a 7-Eleven convenience store hoagie with its limited amounts of meat and cheese. The other thing that I'll mention )just because it seems to be a theme at every restaurant that I've been to around 8 PM in this town), everybody seems to be far more concerned about walking out the door two minutes before they're supposed to close is the impression they leave on guests now walk in 20 or 30 minutes before closing time. This will be the third time I've been to some quick family dining establishment in the area that I've had this experience-- I'm gonna offer management the same advice that I've offered to other establishments nearby: If there is a time of day that you want to leave work, you should close your business in whatever time it takes for you to clean in order to make that happen as opposed to risking guest walking in and being made to feel as if their inconveniencing everybody who works there for making the decision to go to your establishment to spend our money.

I sat at the counter and was greeted immediately. Their menu is loaded with all the typical, popular breakfast eats. I opted for their corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. Starting with coffee. The coffee was typical, very good. My eggs I ordered scrambled with cheese and they were made perfectly! I'm a stickler for not having eggs overcooked, I don't want to see, nor taste any brown on them and these came out just right. Their breakfast potatoes are some of the BEST I've had at a place like this. There wasn't as many onion as I would have preferred, but the flavor and texture was perfect! So Very Good!! And finally, the corned beef hash - They use the typical canned style, which I knew and I asked for it to be well-done with jalapeño. The chef did a perfect job with this part of my breakfast!! Wow - So Good!!! Overall - definitely a very nice breakfast here... I'd most definitely return!!

The decor is all 50's from the chairs, walls, food, etc. Here's their story: "September 11th 2001 changed my life forever. After 19 years as a flight attendant, I decided it was time for a change. Thanks to my dearest mentor and friend, my dreams have come true. Actually, this all dates back to the year of 1952. My friend had a wish, too! Naif Makol, Jr. loved to eat his burgers when he was only knee high to a grasshopper, at which time, he asked his daddy if he would buy him a hamburger store. "Bah" astonishingly honored his son's request, and the family was in Burger Business. We dedicate the vision behind our concept to an exceptional man, Naif George Makol, Sr., without whose foresight and extraordinary business sense this could have not been possible. Our country was a great place to live in back in the 1950's American families enjoyed simple pleasures like drive-in movies, cruise nights, and car hops. Much has changed today except the memories of a time gone by. Naif Jr. has never let those joyous memories fade so in saying that here we are today. Naif and I wanted to create a place representative of a time when families gathered together listening to Dion or little Richard on the radio or cruising into their favorite soda shop for burgers or dogs. Skooter's took on a life of its own once we collaborated about the open kitchen concept and sit-down counter service. We've created a warm, family atmosphere which we hope you will enjoy. Our goal as proprietors is to provide you quick in-and-out service in an upbeat, happy environment at an affordable price. We want to be your home away from home. With Jonathan Karas as a key part of our family and the central force of our operations, I'm sure you will enjoy what he has to bring to the table (pun intended). We hope you delight in the simplicity and of course the great tasting yummy food." For my drink, I'm having a black coffee. It's my first caffeinated drink in a long time (no decaf available). I'd have a milkshake, but they're extremely heavy. Ah! REAL coffee! For my soup, it's Sausage, Pepper and Onion. Rice too I see. It's very good! An unusual soup, I'm also trying the chili. This is good! I got the last of it! Peppers is an odd ingredient. I can't leave here without trying a hot dog (Frankfurter) with sauerkraut. This is good! I liked the buttered bun. No shortage of sauerkraut. For my entree, I'm having a Grilled Lemon Chicken sandwich. This is really good! Notice the square lettuce leaves. For dessert, I'm having a slice of blueberry pie. This is a HUGE piece of pie! It's nice and chilled. I haven't had this in decades! It's delicious! What a great meal here! Those onion rings are freshly battered and are huge! One of them was 4 inches across! Oh yeah! This is great!
