Why is this place so cool? Food trucks galore, craft beer galore. Need I say more? I've been coming here regularly since they opened, including during a soft opening and the madhouse that ensued on B&E day... Although I usually love coming to The Block, this particular experience was awful. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since it happened and I can honestly say, it's something I have never experienced before. I'll try to keep this review pretty quick even though the situation was a whole ordeal. Quick background though, both me and my friend are 25 year old females. I was waiting in line for the restroom and once I was next to go in, I texted my friend so that she could join me. (We always pee together, it's just faster this way.) As soon as we stepped foot into the bathroom, someone outside immediately started banging on the door and yelling for us to go faster. So, as anyone would, we did a bang back saying something along the lines of "Calm down! We just got in here." As I sit down and start to use the restroom, we hear the doorknob wiggling and before we knew it THE LOCKED DOOR OPENS!!! My friend quickly grabs the handle and locks it again as I yell out "What the hell! Someone is in here!" Not 30 seconds later, my friend is now using the toilet as I'm washing my hands and THE LOCKED DOOR OPENS AGAIN! This time wide enough for my peeing friend to make full eye contact with a male employee while she's sitting on the toilet, pants completely down. This time I grab the door to pull it closed, again yelling that "People are in here!" My friend hurries her pants on and we step out of the restroom to find three waiting employees, one female and two males. They go on to explain that THEY USED KEYS TO OPEN THE BATHROOM DOOR WHILE WE WERE INSIDE! Apparently they thought we were "locked in" because they heard some banging. I explained to them that the woman outside the door was banging and that they should have realized after they opened the door the first time and we pulled it closed that we were not stuck. But instead they opened it again?? Also no one was even yelling for help, which we surely would have done if we were stuck. Anyway, they had no explanation for opening it a second time and then they had the audacity to ask us to leave after they had just exposed us multiple times!! Insane. In the end, the female employee told the male employees that we didn't have to go and just said "sorry for the misunderstanding". The whole thing was so wildly inappropriate though, I don't understand why a business would ever think it was okay to open a restroom door when someone is inside. read more

The block is awesome! Very laid back and welcoming feel. The staff is great. You can watch sports on their nice TVs inside or enjoy the weather outside with umbrellas for shade and live music on the weekends. Food trucks vary (can sometimes be sparse) but they always have delicious pizza available. read more

Been here before and always enjoy the drinks. Pizza is pretty consistent and delish. Love that they serve Humbolt Cider. Tonight was my first night at bingo and my friends and I had a great time. The bingo caller was awesome! Very fun, kept the crowd going and on time with bingo too. I do wish the bartender was a bit more personable. Didn't reply to me greeting him and when I said thank you for my drink. Customer service is important. Pizza place was welcoming and new menu was tasty. read more

Boom! This place has what I want. Food trucks, huge beer menu and killer music. The staff is so nice and wow-- the diversity in music blows my mind. This is my local go to for all around joy. My kids love this place and the house made pizza. This kind of establishment could only exist in Petaluma. You need to chill and eat? Come to the block. read more

This is a great place to go as a night out on the town with your friends or a nice relaxing dinner with your family. Their live band gave it a great vibe and the fire pit was relaxing. We LOVE The Block. Best place to eat in Petaluma for atmosphere and food. The people that work there are nice and kind. But.... the Firetrail Pizza sucks. The quality has steadily gone down hill. They don't have half the ingredients. Workers are aloof. Just close it if you want to serve it any longer. They even raised the prices. So..... go to the fantastic food trucks!!! Have to give them only 2 stars. Every time we come here we look on their website to see what trucks will be there and each time it's wrong. It never fails. Today their website said a food truck from 12-9 and another one from 4-9. Got there at 5pm to one truck that didnt open till 515pm. The 12-9 truck wasn't there at all. . When I asked the beer tender about it he said " the 12-9 truck was yesterday." I said " that's not what your website says". Response " oh well." Oh well I may just have to not come back. read more

This place is so cool. I love the vibe I get from everyone around. I love the openness. There were two food trucks when I went one was The Wing Man, which I've had at HenHouse before and knew I loved so I ordered from them just some garlic parm fries. Their beer menu was very organized and not too large or too small. My boyfriend said their Pizza place was really good. They allow dogs which is great and I find it to be kid friendly. Not a bad place to hang out at all I really enjoyed my time at The Block and I intend on going back soon. read more

We love the block. It is such a great addition to the culture and food scene for Petaluma. We go here often as it has a great mix of different trucks and food choices. The bar is great too with a great beer selection and fun laid back atmosphere. The beer garden area is such a great place to hang out at and meet up with friends. The on-site pizza restaurant is great, solid authentic wood fired pizza at a reasonable price. Our go to is El Roy taco truck. The best Mexican food North of LA. This place is very good if you want a low key hangout. They have different food trucks that you can order from and so far I haven't been to one I didn't like. I usually have good experiences, but it isn't a place I would recommend going to for an anniversary or date. It is very casual and the option for food is pizza, or whatever food truck is there and then drinks up at the bar. Like I said, very casual but it is a fun laid back place to go to. read more

The atmosphere is cool. I like that you can bring a dog. Most of the times I've come here there was no food truck. The pizza at restaurant zimis is really bland. 20 dollars per 12 inch thin crust pie. The bottoms of the pizzas were burnt. If you come I'd suggest just coming for drinks. read more

This place is pretty cool. The whole set up gives it a real laid back feel. There's a covered patio (where the beer is at) and and put door one with plenty of seating. They have rotating food trucks also. We tried Wingman and Lazy Hog both of which were delicious. The beer they have on tap is also top notch. Had never even heard of this venue until recently. What a special place. Although there were a lot of kids and families and a live band playing it was still a relaxing for a group of women to dine outside and enjoy the evening. Hands down the best beer garden in town! The atmosphere is to die for! You can tell that it's a locally owned placed that was created with love and enthusiasm. The Block is the best beer garden, affordable food place close to downtown! They always have rotating taps, and have wine/ciders/mixed drinks for the non-beer folks in your group. They have a permanent pizza place there--and all of their pizzas are delish; affordable too--only $10-15 for a personal. Each day they have rotating food trucks; we have tried El Roy's, Wich Cheese, and another truck I can't remember the name of. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has fire pits and outside heaters if it gets cold. Long story short--this is a perfect place to go for casual food and beer with friends, and you won't be disappointed! Was once a loyal patron of The Block. Great hub for the community, fantastic beer selection, delicious food trucks, and great deals on pitchers. Unfortunately the staff are complete a holes and the patrons do not care about COVID. It's as if it does not exist there. Venue is totally packed, it feels crowded and unsafe. No rules are enforced. Just plain irresponsible. Also they were extremely rude to a friend I was there with and made her cry when she just went up to simply order a pitcher for the table. She just moved here from AZ in January to live with her boyfriend (my friend) and was refused service and her valid AZ ID was forcefully taken from her and she was then yelled at by a stupid ass security guard who completely lied and pressured us into leaving because he would not accept the ID even though the rest of our party (3 of us) had valid CA IDs that we clearly presented to him. My friend is an honest person who felt completely taken back when she was treated with such hostility. We will never be returning. Screw you all read more

While the idea is a good one and the enclosed bar area is nice, the location is unfortunate. I get trying to frame the 'industrial setting' as a throwback to Petaluma's roots, but in reality it's dusty and loud, and a little smelly and unsightly. Oh well. read more

This place has really grown on me since it opened a few years back. A recent visit introduced us to the Yatai Japanese Food Truck and it was exquisite -- the tempura was incredible (their oil was fresh, clean, and very light tasting) and the rice bowl was flavorful and substantial. Add in the yummy beer and mixed cocktails at the bar, and this is a great place to hang out in the open air -- and LOVE that we can bring our dog. read more

My only complaint was the bar service was a bit slow and there seemed to be some confusion amongst the staff, but I figure they are still working out the kinks of being a new business.
