My brother and I drove from Arizona to do some mountain biking in Moab. We stopped at a local gas station to ask for good places to eat and the clerk recommended this place. Amazing food and service! For starters we had the Big N' Nasty and they were amazing, french fry's covered with baked beans, cheese, brisket and topped with sour cream. My wife order the chicken wings and they were amazing, had to snag a few for myself. I ordered the Blu Texan, being a Texan I had to try it, it was amazing! Getting into Moab after a long day of national "parking," we were starving and looking for not a quick bite but a mountain man size meal. Our hotel was next to Blu Pig BBQ and since BBQ is right up our alley we pretty much made the treacherous 50 feet walk in 20 degree weather. We ordered pig wings, catfish, pulled pork and a few more BBQ staples. The food was pretty good, especially for a small tourist town. Maybe not as good as Texas BBQ but we were definitely satisfied with the taste, texture and portion. The service was excellent! Our server David, was very gregarious, treated us like good friends, and made extra effort to ensure we had everything we needed and more. We sat for 20 minutes waiting. Didn't even receive a glass of water. There was only my husband and myself and one other couple there at 2:30 in the afternoon. Not busy at all! A waitress cleaned two tables around us and never even looked our way. Looked like a nice place and smelled delicious but we will never know. For the price you would expect stellar service. I enjoyed the dinner and the meal was very good. The main reason for a 4 star rating is due to asking for coffee and having to remind the waitress that I would like some coffee. One-half additional star for being in Moab, which is not exactly a food Mecca. If this place were in Austin, Kansas City or even Boulder, it would get 3 stars max from me. I had the Pig Wings appetizer, and it tasted very good after a 7.5 hour drive the long way from St. George - a bit too much sauce, but quite good nevertheless. The Cutthroat Pale Ale on draught was very cold and nicely refreshing - pretty tasty beer! The spare ribs were delicious - meat full of flavor and falling off the bone, obviously lovingly cared for during their hours in the smoker, but a bit too much sauce. My waiter Matt was really nice and had great suggestions, but it turned me off a bit when the hostess announced loudly that she was really sick and should have stayed home - note to the establishment, your customers don't want to hear that while they eat. The live music must be on the weekends - on a Thursday they had piped in blues from Stevie Ray to Clapton to the Allman Bros - pretty standard auditory fare, but exactly what drove me here, so I was pleased. All in all, a pretty decent joint for dinner on a road trip, but not a place I'd become a regular. read more

So, I go three stars for a combination of atmosphere and food. The atmosphere was dry(maybe it was just the time of night and day), but the food was decent. I had the pork wings on the recommendation of the bar tender. When I read the description, I was a little skeptical, but went ahead and followed here lead. Turns out I was glad I did such a thing! I had the Burnt Ends with fries and coleslaw, the coleslaw was delish. The burnt ends were just ok. My wife had the pulled pork with fries and it too was nothing to write home about. We both had dessert, I had the smoked pecan pie and could not tell that it was smoked. Cajun sausages are good. Mine came with con bread with a very good cinnamon butter. Potato salad was good, too. My wife has " park wings" because they had run out of chicken wings, and she said they were very good. We were directed to The Blu Pig by the front desk staff at our hotel. What a find! I ordered the Burnt Ends with coleslaw, a sweet potato and cornbread. The meat was PERFECT! I didn't even put any sauce on them. They were moist, tender and wonderfully spiced. Like bite sized pot roasts my gramma used to make. My coleslaw was crunchy and had a great dressing. I used some of the cinnamon butter that came on my sweet potato on my cornbread. Both were REALLY good. We were there just before closing, but they didn't miss a beat. Our server was quick, friendly and funny. A wonderful experience all around. read more

Stopped in here during my first visit to Moab after coming in from a few days in the wilderness. Fantastic barbecue sandwich: I had the burnt ends with a peppered Texas-style sauce. The bun was lightly buttered and grilled. The okra on the side was exactly as it should be. The only downside was the cost of the meal; it's quite a bit more than I usually pay for BBQ. But a great Blues and BBQ oasis being in a bit of a food desert in the middle of the actual desert, I'll take it every time. This is what appears to be one of the few new joints on the Moab strip, and from the outside one of the more-likely-to-succeed. Food and service were both great. Pros and Cons for sure. The food is good, but the prices are pretty high. I had ribs and they were good - not exceptional. The cheesy potatoes are good, too. One disappointed was the corn bread - you get one bone-dry corn muffin with your entree. Come on! A BBQ place has to have good corn bread. They really should fix that. Looks good on the outside but the back of the house needs some help! I ordered the 2 meat combo : smoked turkey and brisket with hush puppies and slaw as my sides. I detected ZERO smoke...not even a pink ring around the meats and no flavor. Slaw had nothing but shredded vegetables without any flavor. You taste things before serving? I think not! The meats were cold as well and Not worth $17.95 Teach your servers about what you offer because I ordered the Hoegaarden wheat beer. It was served with no glass...the white stuff in the bottom of the bottle is better when poured into the beer. read more

So..... Followed the crowed (and some local feedback) here. The win? The locals and the crowed were right, this place was amazing and the staff fantastic. The downside? Anytime you follow a crowed (especially at a time when there's tens of thousands more people in town than usual) you're going to overwhelm even the largest and most well prepared kitchen. Bad service, mediocre food, and not a care in the world for food allergies. Ordered a gluten free beer, asked twice to ensure the cornbread would not come with the meal, still was on the plate. They also appear to have no clue what soy is, I'm 99% sure their sauce or bbq has it as I'm having issues even though I was assured it didn't contain it. To top it off they forgot our salads. Picked up a bunch of to-go to take up to Canyonlands for a sunset picnic. The quality held up, and there was plenty of it. Just a bit mediocre for bbq, not huge bbq flavor/taste. I was going to use the term deli meat, but that's too harsh, it was definitely better than that. The place is cool and the staff who helped us were awesome and friendly. Next time I'm in Moab I'll be giving it another try, but I'll eat in to see if that's the game changer. The food came quickly and was very good and the staff were very friendly would love to come here again in the future if I ever get the chance again since I'm from California. Having been to Moab three times before, we would always make a point of stopping by the Blue Pig. We always had a good meal and looked forward to visiting again for great riding during the day and barbecue at night. Sadly we ate there on 02/21 and the three of us were very dissatisfied with what we had. Ribs would have been great but we were informed that they were out of baby back ribs. This was a Friday evening at 6:00 pm!! I decided on the "specialty of the barbeque world" burnt ends, and my friends each had the brisket combo. All three of our meals were cool to barely warm, the brisket was dry as were the burnt ends. Even my cheesy potatoes were lukewarm to cool. The burnt ends did not seem like normal burnt ends but cubed up something that was very dry and tough. On one piece of meat I could not even stick my fork to it as it was more like jerky. After bringing this to the attention of the waitress, she had the manager come talk to us. I showed the manager the toughness of the burnt ends and she could see they were very dry. She seemed very concerned and said she would discount our bill. It came back and she had discounted our bill of $75.00 about $6.00 so the bill for very dismal and marginally edible meal was $69.00, including 1 beer and two soft drinks. Very, very, very unhappy eating at the Blue Pig this time. You could do better elsewhere in this great town. read more

First let's start with saying staff was friendly and got us sat quickly! Ordered a strawberry margarita and by far the worst margarita I've ever had. Now onto the food. When our food arrived I got brisket, loaded baked potato and hush puppies. My brisket was cold. Literally pulled out of the ice box left out to get room temperature for 10 minutes then brought to me also a little on the dry side but not much! My husband loved his food. Overall, aside from the cold brisket the food was amazing at a warm temperature it would have been amazing. I did not ask for someone to warm my food up because well it just came out of the kitchen it should not have came cold. A lot of the reviews mention cold meat so maybe that's something they should work on? Would have been 5 starts from us even with the margarita. read more

We came here specifically because they had outdoor seating and read that they were following COVID protocols. However, they are not as the waitress and hostess did not have a mask or gloves on. The waitress was coughing, which was gross to hear. There is not social distancing and every table is being used. Aside from that, the food was subpar. I read reviews before coming here and was hoping for better. The BBQ ribs were served cold and did not have that much flavor. The mac and cheese was watery and I had to search around for the noodles. I'm sure there are better places to eat in Moab. I checked Yelp beforehand and unfortunately came up empty. read more

Have visited this establishment several times over the years. Expensive to say the least but normally its pretty good eats. This year I was not happy with the food. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a sweet potato. The pulled pork was extremely fatty, hard pieces that actually cut my gum and lacking any proper texture.
