Amazingly great BBQ and cool vibe place. Ate in the bar which is decorated great and very comfortable w good tunes playing....reggae tonight! We're pork rind fans and they make their own here- O.M.G.! They come to the table perfectly cooked and still crackling! Had the 3 meat combo of tri tip, brisket and turkey. Everything was great but what stood out was the turkey. First you don't c this very often and this just melted in ur mouth with a perfect smokey flavor. Excellent food and service. The last 3 years we've come to EJS we've eaten here several times during the week and have never been disappointed. I don't know what happened here. A few months ago we came here and the food and service was spot on. We came back into town this past week ranting and raving about how good the food was and brought friends along to try it out. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!! All of our dishes were terrible!! To say the least!! My daughters fries were severely under cooked more like blanched. We had a total eight separate dishes and every one of them either was burnt, dry, under cooked and the flavor was just off. Super glad non of us got food poisoning. The only positive thing about going to the restaurant was our wonderful waitress, if it wasn't for her fun personality and kindness it would have gotten one star. Little disappointed...ribs fell off the bone which you would think would good, but the tender meat turned a little mushy in my mouth. Guess there is a difference between wet and moist. Baked beans were not great and coleslaw tasted bland. Best thing about our meal was the great music. read more

Loved this place! Unfortunately we came too late for the live music, but the bar was cozy and friendly. Although we were the last few people here Brandi was so friendly and reassured us we could stay us as long as we liked! Only in town for a few nights so it was nice after a long day of traveling. Excellent service! We had a group of 20 and the service was the best I have ever had for that large of a group. We tried a lot of dishes between our group and everyone was happy with their food. One of the favorites was the Big 'N Nasty, it was huge and so full of flavor, share it as an appetizer or get it for your main dish! We will for sure be back next time we are in town! read more

This restaurant shares a large parking area with the La Quinta Inn & Suites, where we were staying, so it was more than convenient. Since we had our dog with us, we needed outdoor seating, which they could provide, fully covered and with heaters that weren't necessary the night we dined there. They were very dog friendly. A typical barbecue joint menu, along with a long list of craft brews and cocktails. The "top shelf" margarita we each ordered was fine, not super sweet, but with no real distinction. At $14, we expected a drink with more interest. The smoked brisket was dry and not particularly flavorful, though the fries and baked beans that came along with it were good. A cobb salad is typically made with iceberg lettuce; here, it was a sort of spring mix, an odd substitute. Maybe they'd had sourcing problems because of the pandemic? We were pleased with the outdoor patio seating and with the restaurant's dog friendly policy. Just wish the food had been worth writing about. read more

I hate to leave a review like this because I'm not one to complain. We ate here today and both were let down. I had ordered two meat combo(trip tip/burnt ends with homemade slaw and hush puppies) and she ordered the wings. We also started with battered green beans. I will say the green beans were tasty. Both my burnt ends/try-tip were dry and tough, really lacked the smoked/bbq flavor. She ended up only eating 3 of her wings because there was what looked like hair on the wings. I had seen a review somewhere on here stating the same thing. Service was okay, nothing wrong on that end. We were really hoping to love this place. Very decent BBQ. Could really taste the smoke in my prime rib. Cooked fairly well, (I ordered rare). Good selection of meats, burgers and the like. Somewhat limited draft beer selection. The food was not good. The atmosphere was weird. The manager is defensive in all poor reviews when in reality the manager is why I gave it such a poor review. I had to send a plate back and she came to the table and proceeded to argue with me when I asked for the bill to be adjusted. It's a weird way to do business. Wow. We have come through Moab every year and were really pleased to see this restaurant come to town. As a southerner o was worried that the bbq would be inauthentic. It was fabulous and the service was superb. Melena was charming and fast and gave us good advice on menu choices. No need to deal with so so food and snarly service at Pasta Jays or other Moab standards. Blue Pig is the real deal. And after living in Texas and Oklahoma for twenty years, I disagree w/Mackenzie that it's not "real BBQ." Utah folks CAN make good BBQ and they do at the Blue Pig. We'll be back. read more

Brought the whole family here for lunch. We had just finished looking at Newspaper Rock, and we were all starving. Decided to go here, because it's hard to go wrong with BBQ. Everyone in the family can usually find something. Such was the case in this instance! Everyone liked what they got, and the waitress who helped us was incredibly professional, and answered all of our questions. I certainly was not expecting a bbq place in Moab, UT let alone a place with great quality bbq! We sat in the bar area so we could listen to the blues band that was playing, but still received table service which was great. After a full day of hiking it was nice to unwind with good food and awesome music. The bbq sandwich was great and the sweet tea was awesome. Staying at a nearby hotel, and decided to try this place. What I did not like was that there was no seating for a solo person except in the bar. No problem, really, as when i am traveling alone I have come to expect this. What was kind of disappointing was that it took an hour to get food after I ordered, and two people who ordered after me got theirs before I did. The food was average. There was also a pretty big draft in the bar whenever someone opened and outside door, so most of the customers were wearing their coats to stay warm. The music in the bar was live, and pretty good. Food was a bit expensive for what you get. The main thing is I probably would have spent more with this place by ordering more drinks and dessert, but I did not want to have to wait any more once I saw how long it took to get the main course. I give it three stars because the food was okay, and the staff were friendly, even though they were likely a little short handed or maybe disorganized on their systems for getting food out of the kitchen faster. read more

Gruel. We ordered pulled pork, and two sides. The beans and rice had no rice. The corn muffins were a pile of crumbled bits before we took a bite. The server with his groovy hair and smile was fine, but this place has no sensibility about how to serve plates that look appetizing, let alone pull off being delicious once you get past the placid plating. The pile of pulled meat was simply plopped on the ungarnished plate like a prison platter at the pen. Non-descript bottles of various sauce sat idle nearby, mocking us to try them all until we found one we liked-which we didn't. No help with a label or info from the server. For the prices they charge, you'd expect much more in terms of a dining experience. But, if you just busted out somewhere, or have a hog that needs slopping, feel free to pull your mule up and plop your cheeks down on a savory BBQ splattered stool and dig in. BYOB (bib) as the trough style ploop of poop they put in front of you might be best suited for one on all fours. read more

Friendly staff and decent food. Great place to watch a football game. Happy that it was open during off season too since the Moab Brewery was closed. BBQ is tasty, the mac and cheese is yummy, but skip the beans and the potato salad. Love that they have multiple kinds of barbecue sauce at the table for you to try with your meats. Gotta have the pulled pork tho, it is the best of the meats we tried (ribs, brisket, pulled pork). If you have room for dessert, have the dutch apple pie a la mode. Very tasty! read more

What I liked: The food. What I didn't like: The hour wait for my food after I ordered. This restaurants food could have earned it a 4-5 star rating had it been matched by great service and a better job of cleaning the BBQ sauce off the menus. My wife had the 8 oz Pulled Pork meal. She loved it and with the included side dishes was more than she could eat. My daughter and I opted for the Pulled Pork sandwiches. Loved them. My daughter enjoyed a sweet potato and I liked Hush Puppies. Keeping hungry folks waiting an hour isn't reasonable. At least warn us so we either leave of order an appetizer. Or, maybe just offer us some bread to keep us entertained while waiting for our meals. Just to be clear, it wasn't the half hour wait for a table, the hostess advised us of that. A group of 18 of us were down in Moab over New Years celebrating my birthday. We had stopped at Blu Pig for our last evening in Moab and were treated horribly. The winter is a slower season in Moab and the restaurant was by no means crowded but as soon as our group walked in the staff became so flustered and hostile towards us. They were unable to find room for us in the main dining area so they asked if we all had our ID's so they could seat us in the bar. We said that we did so they began setting up the tables but then we realized we had someone under 21 (he was the cousin of a friend and no one knew he was only 20). When we told the hostess she went into the kitchen, which is around the corner within ears distance and began talking crap. We could hear the staff making extremely rude comments about us without even trying to be discrete. Right then we decided to leave. I am not going to give my business to a restaurant that can't accommodate a group of 18 people and allows their staff to act the way they did. We talked to the manager before we left and he was just as bad as the rest of the staff. Give your business to someone else in town. read more
