The crostini and other pupus were tasty enough, but again, severely overpriced. Left walking away still hungry and feeling like I didn't get enough bang for my buck. Also while I know there's probably not much one can do for such a small confined space... the bathroom is right next to the bar, which feels kinda gross, maybe find a way to out a divider there or something so not everyone has to see everyone coming in and out of doing their biz... oh! My friend chose to celebrate his birthday at this cute little restaurant that just opened up about 5 months ago (according to the manager or owner that was talking to us before we got seated). He made reservations on Open table and requested to be seated outside which had a very nice ambience. The only downside is the lizard friends that like to hangout in the plants right next to where we were sitting. They had cute water glasses and a glass pitcher. Reminded me of the broken glass I used to look for along the beach shores. We started with some cocktails. My friend got the passion fruit pau Hana & I got the BRB which is not on the menu yet but our waitress recommended it to me. It's basically vodka, muddled berries & I think some lemon juice. For food, we ordered the pork belly bao buns and chicken satay. Both were AMAZING. The bao buns were sooooo soft, the pork belly was tender & I love the pickled veggies they put inside. The homemade sriracha was bomb and of course you have to put a little bit of hoisin inside. My friend ordered a second drink, the butterfly bramble, which was my favorite drink of the night. The jasmine & honey flavors really stood out and it made for a great tasting drink. Finally for dessert we got the ube bread pudding Ala mode. The bread pudding itself didn't have too much ube taste, but the sauce they put on top definitely did. And the raspberries and ice cream accompanied it very well. The seating space is pretty tight there so I recommend going with just a couple people if you go. But otherwise, friendly staff, great drinks & food, and great ambience. We were looking for a place to eat dinner close to 8pm on a Friday night and found this place on the Open Table app. Upon looking at the menu, we knew this was not a normal dinner place but was a cocktails and pupus (appetizer) place. We decided to give it a try anyways. Driving by, we could see the place was packed. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating. Parking is street parking but metered spots are free at 6pm. We were seated inside (what I selected in the Open Table app) pretty immediately after arriving. In addition to the regular menu, we were handed two pieces of paper which had specials. We were hungry, but also wanted to try interesting things so we ordered the hamachi crudo, the bao buns, and the bone marrow. For drinks we ordered the passion fruit pau hana and the garlic martini (with gin instead of vodka). And then a strawberry lychee drink (with rum instead of vodka) which came with a popsicle and a spiced old fashioned (with an extra shot of whiskey). The drinks were all very interesting. The passion fruit pau hana was very fruity and sweet for a whiskey drink. I loved it. The garlic martini had blue cheese olives. Because my husband replaced the vodka with gin, he said the gin overpowered everything so he didn't know what it was originally supposed to taste like but he liked his drink. His spices old fashioned was very flavorful and spiced. Even after he added an extra shot of whiskey, the spiced flavors were still very strong. My strawberry lychee drink was awesome. The popsicle was a strawberry guava creamsicle. And the more it melted, the better the drink and popsicle tasted. I would stir the popsicle into the drink and incorporate it. It was great. Our food was also delicious! The hamachi (a type of fish) crudo was pretty cool. It is like a sashimi and was served raw and came with a red pepper thing and calamansi (a type of citrus fruit), pickled onions, with olive oil. The taste of it was light and refreshing. The red pepper was a little spicy and gave it an extra kick. The hamachi was soft and delicate. I may have preferred having this with crackers. Squeezing the calamansi over the gave it a nice tangy zing. The pickled onion added texture. I would order this again. The bone marrow was interesting. It came with some toasted bread and a shallot marmalade. The size of the bone marrow was decent, we got 3 pieces. The texture of the marrow is very soft, like beef fat. The shallot marmalade tasted like caramelized onion and overpowered the light delicate flavor of the bone marrow. I never really understood the appeal of fancily prepared bone marrow and still don't. It was good but not my cup of tea. Now for the food highlight! The pork belly bao buns were fantastic. The crispy skin, the flavorful meat, the pickled vegetables, soft bao bun, and spicy sauce were all went together wonderfully. It was my favorite thing. $18 for 4 baos of this quality and taste was so worth it. The flavors were so explosive and delicious. I wouldn't change a thing about this dish. It was so good I want another right now. Our dessert was also very good. The bread pudding didn't taste like normal bread pudding. It was more like a dense cake. The sauce, ice cream and fruit (strawberry and blueberries) paired nicely with the bread pudding. We cut up the strawberries into bite sizes and put a bit of fruit in each bite. Delicious. The service was excellent. Our server (Colby?) was friendly, attentive, and super helpful, she answered all our questions. We didn't feel like we waited very long for anything the whole time. This place is very pricy though. For what we ordered, drinks were $17-22 each and food was $14-26 each. The place was small but had both indoor and outdoor seating. It had a lot of energy, the ambiance was hip and fresh and seemed very popular as every seat was filled for most of the night. All in all, we had a great time. Everything was great. I'd recommend going there if you wanted to splurge on delicious, fancy, and exotic drinks and appetizers. We will definitely come back again. read more

We ate here for dinner the other night and generally were not pleased with the food. While the pork belly special was generally ok, the thick pork chop entre was under-seasoned and beyond dry. I generally love to take any food I don't eat home as leftovers, but there was no way I felt that I could salvage the pork chop dish and, so, let the waiters taken it less than half eaten. Another in the group got a fish dish, which I tried, too. It wasn't very good and she only ate half it it, too. On a positive notes, the drinks and mocktails were generally pretty good, as was the atmosphere of the place. That said, we're big on food, so if that is lacking, there's little chance that we'd be back. read more

After 45 mins to get our order I was given burnt pancakes. I had ordered this item in the past and it was cooked perfectly and enjoyable, this time they were burnt and dry. I asked for them to be re-made and this was the remake. Burned again and not presented nicely at all. Our initial order was accidentally "not put in" so after waiting 45 mins to have mine and my husbands food come out at different times so we didn't even eat together. Drinks: My wife had Moonlit Surfer and she liked it. I don't drink so I had the Lilikoi Lemonade. Pucker up cause that thing is sour. Don't suggest having on empty stomach either. Definitely pass on it since it's $12, small and not good. FYI, 2 drinks (one non-alcohol) was $34. Food: We tried the oysters. Ordered half dozen and they were tiny. Think they are overpriced for that size at $24. My wife had seasonal salad. Not bad but ton of kale was overpowering. I had steak of the day, 5oz local beef. Well, it was recommended to order as med rare, which I usually order. About 30 mins after the oysters and salad, my steak came out. It was cold and well done. The steak was pre sliced and had no pink. I can't believe the chef sliced it and thought that was cooked to med rare and good to leave the kitchen. I was too hungry to send back so I ate it. The chutney on top and vegetables were good. The steak was completely disappointing, but well done even after the restaurant recommends med rare was annoying. The steak is priced as MP, so I asked the cost and the server said she didn't know then said she could look in her digital point of sale device. She told me $46. In reality, it was $62, which I didn't notice, so that makes me really, really disappointed in the chef and restaurant. Dessert: Don't bother. Target had a sale on Christmas leftovers. Had M&Ms and red Christmas Oreos. Highly recommend only for next few days. 50-70% off. Spent $2 and enjoyed every bite. After the new year, you're better off getting Valentine's or Easter candy! Overall: Glad I had gift card to come and try. We will not be going back to eat here especially when there's better places for less or same cost nearby. If you must go here, sit inside and don't order steak. Also be mindful there is a 3.5% kitchen fee. Had I realized that, I would've adjusted my tip accordingly. Like they had too many things plugged into one source, and the power was struggling. It was crazy difficult to get our server. We were seated promptly but had to wait a while for a server to take our order. In the beginning the server would come around regularly but later we couldn't find her and had to ask another server for assistance. The food and drinks are extremely overpriced. If we weren't with friends, we would have left. The strawberry drink with the popsicle was $24- for a drink! The food was nothing special and again over priced! The portions were not very big considering what you were paying for. We ordered a few items to share with our group and some drinks but the bill was almost $500 for 5 people. They even have a service charge added to your bill which was ridiculous considering how much the food and drinks were. Okay, first off I used to LOVE this place. Best cocktail bar in town, they used to care about the craft and service. But recently it seems like they've put all their energy into the Garden (the front patio area that's somewhat of a separate restaurant, and separate menu) and completely forgotten about the Boardroom. My husband and I showed up for dinner/drinks last night at 7:30pm on a Friday (should be their busiest time, right?) and stood at the hostess stand for 20 minutes, no one ever showed up. To make things weirder, we finally walked inside the restaurant and there was not a single worker there. The tables were set and the lights were on, they were clearly open, but no workers. We tried standing at the bar for a while, yet still no one came. So we finally left. Such a STRANGE experience. We've noticed recently that the services has been a hit or miss, but this is an all time low. A huge disappointment. read more

We had to ask our waitress if our food had been started yet, if not we want to cancel our order. Magically when she went to check she said it was ready. She brought out one dish, food was cold. Then 5 minutes later another dish, also cold. Then the 3rd dish we waited, still didnt come out with the other two. We just ended up canceling that one. Ridiculous! Food took forever and it was cold! 5. We got there when it opened and there was only two people seated before us. I just had my first evening at the Boardroom! Were the drinks unique? Yes. Was the service A+? Yes. But let's talk about the Shakshuka. Have you had it--tomatoes simmered in mideastern spices with poached eggs and crusty bread. OMG. And Ive eaten this in many, many restaurants! I hear they're going to start calling it Shaka-shuka! Wow. When we first arrived, the first thing we noticed was the vibe- It was great. Very chill, a lot of people socializing, and attentive waiters/waitresses. We sat down and we're served by Charlie, he was awesome! We got the Pork Belly Bao Buns, Pulehu Prime Rib, and one of the Chefs spaghetti specials. It was all superb, the Prime Rib was amazing, the snap Buns were very tasty, and the seafood spaghetti was sublime. The food came cold, which they took back and recooked, but the food wasn't very good and the wait time now double before being able to eat. You are making a mistake if you order food here. I talked to the Maniger, but that was a waste of time, all he did was make excuses for the kitchen's incompetency. The server Monica really tried to help, but there wasn't much she could do. Monica showed a lot of hospitality, which is missing from this place. We are not, never, no way coming back to this place, I can get a good cocktail at other resturants that have a much better designed dining room and bar. read more

We came for dinner and drinks last week and it was amazing! Which made us come for brunch and sadly, we were disappointed. This review is for the brunch only! I ordered the biscuits and gravy which is $22 and is a gravy with Portuguese sausage, house-made honey biscuits and scrambled egg. When I got my plate, it had a single biscuit (I was expecting 2 as the standard). The scrambled egg was good and hot but that was the only thing I liked. The gravy was thin, tasted like it came from a jar and they just added some spice and sausage. The biscuit was definitely the Pillsbury Flaky Biscuit. I cook with that at home and recognized the taste, certainly not house-made. And the gravy was cool or barely warm. For $22, I was very disappointed, it tasted alright but just really not what I was expecting. A single biscuit and scrambled egg isn't enough to be a filling meal for $22. My husband ordered the Farm Frittata, with a side of bacon for $6. The bacon on the menu says "local thick cut bacon" and it definitely was NOT thick cut, nor local! It was regular sliced bacon, and he said it tasted like Hormel and we got about 4 strips. The frittata was alright for him, good taste but nothing special. He got an espresso martini, which was great! This place certainly knows their drinks. Our server asked how our meal was and we told her, I appreciate she wanted to know our feedback to tell the kitchen. But it was just disappointing that the menu descriptions were high talk but low delivery on the food quality and source. I wish I could pull a Gordon Ramsey and see if Hormel bacon and Pillsbury dough containers were in the kitchen. We'll go back for dinner, but certainly never for brunch again. read more

This has become one of my favorite spots! It's a fun date night spot. There's nice outdoor/indoor seating, great decor and lighting, it's overall very visually appealing. The drinks are fun and boujee. They change the menu so there are new drink specials but they have some signature drinks that we get to enjoy. I've gone here for dates, girls nights, and even came for Halloween last year. They have a good truck out front with a turf lawn and some outdoor seating. Everyone brings their dogs and comes for the live music. The parking is also decent. Lots of street parking and an easy walk from other bars in Kailua. I would recommend. I tend to bring anyone visiting from the mainland here and they always enjoy it. read more

My husband and I just had dinner here for the very first time we're locals and I passed by all the time thinking about how I want to try it because the patio looks so pretty. We looked at the menu ahead of time, knowing that the prices were a little bit more extravagant. I ordered the venison bolognese it was good but couldn't hardly taste any venison. My husband ordered the Market price $52 ribeye. It had nothing else but the steak sliced, we're thinking the ribeye would be this amazing piece of meat but it was the most basic store bought piece of meat. Chimmichuri that came with it was super vinegary and not a typical chimmichuri. It was the most basic steak. We left there feeling super ripped off and our wallet hurting.
