The service is fast and no nonsense. Every dish is cooked to order so expect to wait for food to arrive after you've placed it. Boardwalk Cafe has a special place in my heart because it's in the town where I grew up--about a two-minute drive from my high school. Funny enough, I never really ate there growing up, but I've come to appreciate a great breakfast much more as an adult. It has a great small-diner vibe, with booths all around, so it can fill up fast--which is honestly just how you want it. The servers are great and everything comes out incredibly quick. Went in on a Saturday morning. We were able to get a table for 5 quickly. Service was great. Waitress kept our coffees filled. We did have to ask for ketchup & mustard to be brought to the table. Its a small space & you can see them cooking in the back. They have some seating outside thats covered. We ordered 2 breakfasts & split them. Its a lot of food for the price. Terrific little down home Breakfast spot. Perfect for a quick stop while shopping or meeting with old friends. Tucked away in a shopping strip in the beginning of Old Webster district. Food was hot and seasoned. The restaurant was packed on a late morning week day but tables and service were quick and attentive. The only thing that kept them from 5 stars is the lack of ventilation or maybe no hoods in the back of the house. Will definitely return. read more

First time coming to this dinner. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a cafe. It's def more of a dinner type feel w/o the stools at counter lol. Or an upscale Denny's . Regardless...you sit where you want which was awkward for someone coming in for the first time and everyone just looks at you until a staff tells you "sit anywhere you like". But!!!! The ladies here are all friendly, they look happy to be there and they have regulars from what I could hear (there's no music ...you can hear all the conversations around you ). The menu....so many options to pick from and the portions are very generous and pricing...well I haven't seen them that low since before Covid lol. Husband and I each ordered food, order of biscuits and gravy bc it's a must wherever I go, and two drinks and our bill was $34. We haven't seen our bill that low in a long time! The hashbrowns were cooked perfectly, crispy but not crunchy or oily. My Greek omelette was sooo good!! The biscuits and gravy....well I'm picky and always looking for the perfect gravy and this gravy was just your basic gravy...but the biscuits must've been made from scratch bc the outside were crisp and the inside so light and not dense. Actually loved their biscuits. In conclusion, I highly recommend this place for any one looking for a chill, not over priced, but good breakfast place. Webster Groves has a lot of really solid breakfast options - Telva is great, Clover and the Bee is fantastic - but the one I keep coming back to is The Boardwalk Cafe. This is no-frills, friendly, neighborhood breakfast, eggs and hash browns and bacon and coffee that isn't house-roasted and fancy but still gets the job done. The waitstaff are kind and direct, and it's obvious that they know their regulars and want you to become one of them. Everything is pretty dang affordable, the booths are well-worn, and I've yet to walk in when someone isn't waiting for a seat to open up, given the folks who keep showing up here, whether wearing overalls, business suits, or in carseats, lugged around by their parents, all hungry and knowing that they'll leave satisfied. I'm a big fan of Boardwalk's omelettes, have greatly enjoyed their skillets, and love the wide sweep of their hours - 7-8PM Monday through Saturday, and 7-3PM on Sunday - leaving me generally able to get their whenever I feel the itch. This isn't fancy breakfast, but it's good, honest, a greasy spoon leveled-up with zero pretentiousness and plenty of small town in a big city charm. Recommended. read more

We love this place. I was too busy enjoying to snap photos but will add next time we go! We've been going here for years and they do not disappoint. The vibe is like an old school diner and the food is so good and affordable compared to Al on the newer brunch/breakfast places we go to. My kids love getting a Mickey pancake! I love their biscuits and gravy, burgers, bacon, and their skillet meals! I've never ordered something here that I don't love. Plus, the affordability makes it a great place to take kids and be able to actually eat out as a family of 5. I had visited this place for the first time recently. I ordered and the waitress was hostile only towards my table. I got my food and it was super delicious. The waitress once again was hostile and took my plate of pancakes even though I wasn't finished. She took my fork away and I couldn't finish eating my eggs or bacon. Right when we walked up you could see all the waitresses having conversations with all the regulars here. Everyone was so nice and just on top of everything! The menu has choices for everyone and is priced very fair. I ordered the Popeye omelette and my fiancé ordered the Arch Skillet. The food was so good but the hash browns were absolutely AMAZING! The flavor was top notch. The cook on them was absolutely perfect. I will be coming back here for the service and food but the hash browns are the best hash browns I've ever had! I asked the waitress if they made them a special way and she said "no, but next time you should try the fries!" We continue to have good experiences here. My wife enjoyed the German omelet, and I enjoyed the Boardwalk Special omelet. With the hash browns and toast and 3-egg omelet, we saved half our omelet, and got another meal out of it. It's nice being able to eat outside. We got great service from Ashley, like before. I'd like to try the Cobb Salad sometime, but it's hard not to order from the breakfast part of the menu. read more

Delicious little place that is unassuming and definitely a gem. After being at a kids soccer game early we wanted to grab breakfast. The places nearby had crazy long waits for our party of 8. I found this place on yelp and called to check on the wait- we were quoted around 20 min and no call ahead. I wasn't familiar with it at all but sounded good and reasonable wait so we headed there from about 5 min away. First of all o drove past it, even with maps telling me where to go. It is on the corner of the old orchard plaza and I never would have noticed it. Walked in to a small place with about 15 tables and a few wait staff working their butts off. No hostess here- just a notebook that you write your name down and number in your party. As a table becomes available they go down the list. We had a larger party so we needed to wait for one of their bigger tables, but it didn't take too long- probably right around the 20 min quoted. We got seated and had a lovely blond waitress- I can't remember her name- but she was so nice and attentive while clearly being very busy. All of food was great. The fever Denver omelet was delish, great pancakes, breakfast quesadilla top notch, steak egg and cheese bagel quite tasty, etc. I loved the really crispy hash browns- thin and pressed on the grill with the perfect blend of crunch and soft potato. We will def be back. (Side note: our neighboring table had a double cheeseburger come out and we were all drooling- it looked fabulous. read more

Our first time there, we had a group of 9. It's a tiny place for our group, but they did accommodate us. My family was in town for Thanksgiving. The food was great! I was surprised with Roger's market across the street where they could buy some until their shipment came in. That would be good customer service, as I can't be the only person asking for honey. Affordable comfort food. When you walk into the Cafe you are asked to place your name down on a sheet of paper attached to clipboard. If there's a line.. it's worth the wait. This isn't one of those places in which you will be blown away by how fantastic the food is, so don't expect that. Expect consistency and huge portions of comfort food. I can almost guarantee that you will leave with leftovers. Even better, the check that you will receive at the end of your meal will make you think that your server missed a few items. They didn't.
