The best pancakes I have ever eaten. Period. No contest. How's that for a starter? And it's true. We were driving thru St. Louis en route to Arizona and, with a long drive ahead, wanted to meet our daughter for a quick breakfast as she happened to be in the St. Louis area to visit a friend as well. We identified Sunny Street via Yelp (duh) as a convenient place to meet, and boy were we not disappointed. Shout out to our server (name unknown) for pushing me to order more than I needed so I could taste the pancakes because that made the meal. To start, daughter and her friend both ordered the hearty breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes. Both enjoyed their meals, and said the pancakes were great. Wife ordered the same but with plain pancakes and liked that as well. Her bacon (which of course she didn't finish) was terrific. I was torn - I really wanted the country omelette which is basically the western plus sausage gravy with a biscuit but the bananas foster pancakes sounded so good. Our server convinced me to just go nuts and order the omelette and add half an order of pancakes. Her upsell training was on point, because the add wasn't cheap but indeed I needed to taste them. And like I said . . . . Best. Pancakes. Ever. The omelette was great. The biscuit was just ok. The pancakes were indescribably amazing. And I've had my fair share of pancakes of all types shapes and sizes. These are #1. Service was great, the restaurant is in a nice strip mall in a good area of town. I had heard of this place for years but has never checked it out until today. I was a bit fearful seeing the parking lot because of how full it was, but when I walked inside, I was told there would be a short wait. I waited a total of 5 minutes and I was sat. Within minutes, Mary, my server, came and greeted me. I gave her my entire order ( big bite breakfast: scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, peppers, and spinach, sourdough toast, fruit, and chicken sausage, and a Bellini. To my disbelief, everything arrived within minutes! Trust, I was not complaining! The first couple bites of my eggs were quite splendid! They were cheesy, and filled with plenty of spinach and peppers as I had requested. I loved that the sourdough wasn't rock hard and already came buttered. That will forever be a win in my book. Usually I'll put some type of syrup on my meat, but the chicken sausage was fine without it. It had a nice flavor and was well-seasoned. Last but not least was the peach Bellini, which wasn't too sweet, but was refreshing and the perfect accompaniment for my breakfast aside from the water. Overall, I really enjoyed my first visit and must highlight the exemplary service from Mary and the staff. The quick turn around and good food sold me, so rest assured I'll be back! read more

I had an appointment this morning, so while we were out, we decided to try somewhere new for breakfast. The roads were snow packed and icy here and there, so there weren't a lot of people out. When we arrived, we were seated right away. The hostess took our coffee orders and left us to check out the menu. A number of items sounded great, but we managed to each choose something. Our food was brought out pretty quickly and it was nice and hot! We both liked our breakfast, and we have enough for tomorrow. The portions are very generous! I've been to Sunny Street Cafe a few times now. It is a solid breakfast and brunch place. The restaurant gets a lot of natural light, and there is outdoor seating that works well when the weather is good. The food is consistent. Portions are good and prices reasonable. I have never had a bad meal here, but nothing has really blown my mind either. If you go in expecting a straightforward brunch menu, you will not be disappointed. Service has always been good. Always a solid experience at Sunny Street Cafe. Service here is very friendly and fast. I e been a handful of times, mid morning on the weekend and haven't encountered a wait. Ambiance is that of a family diner. I prefer to have a healthy start to the day so I appreciate their lite bites menu. My favorite is the power scramble. After prancing around in the sunflowers with bees and butterflies in Weldon Spring, my friend and I decided to have brunch at Sunny Street. She affectionately called it "Sunny Side" which would seem more appropriate since they sell breakfast food, but I digress! All these years I've been up and down Manchester, I'd never seen this restaurant. It is off a small side street that if you sneeze you will pass it kind of vibes. There is ample parking on the lot. Despite it being Sunday after church, we were seated right away. Our waitress Tracy was very attentive and asked if we wanted to order mimosas. I was kind of hot and had somewhere to go after brunch and my friend doesn't drink so we both declined. She ordered their fried pickles (which were the spears battered and fried, not the coins/chips) and a burger with fries. I ordered a big breakfast with fruit for the side; eggs scrambled with cheese and bacon. Although I didn't order hashbrowns, I guess the cook still made them for me. They were buttery and semi crispy and under my toast, so I mixed it with my eggs and took bites of the crispy bacon between bites of the eggs/hashbrown mix. I felt guilty eating it as I didn't order it but that's not my fault. The melons in the fruit were slightly on their way out the door but I still ate it because, free booze, right? JK! I will say, those scrambled eggs with cheese were the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Oftentimes it's overcooked at other restaurants. Stopped in for a quick breakfast by myself. I was seated right away. My server was very attentive and very friendly. It has a small home town feel to the restaurant. Cute bright and airy decor. I got the sweet cream cold brew. It was good, I had to add a little sugar to it because I like my coffee sweet. I also ordered the loaded hash browns. It was pretty good. The menu said golden crispy hashbrowns, so I didn't say that I like my hashbrowns crispy. Next time I know to speak up because they were a little under done. My toast was also a little burnt. I debated over giving this place 2 stars but I upped it to 3 because I'm a pushover. 6 of us met today for brunch and arrived separately, however it took close to 25 minutes before anyone even checked in on us or offered coffee and water. We literally had to yell across only one table's worth of space to get an employee's attention and ask for service. Once our waitress arrived she was lovely, friendly, and accommodating. Our food arrived quickly after she took our orders but still it was cold/room temperature. And my over medium eggs had a hair on top. You may get queasy at this but I was really hungry so I just removed the hair and ate them anyway and didn't mention it to the staff. (I didn't want to wait for a replacement and it seemed possible it was my own hair based on length and color.) The pancakes were good and the fruit cup was fresh in the middle of December. I spent the morning with my littles and they checked Yelp and found Sunny Street. The food was great, but the service was amazing! Every person on staff spoke as they walked past, and made sure we had everything we needed. My girls all ordered the Oreo pancake meal, which they were all thoroughly impressed that it was shaped like a dinosaur. After we cleaned our plates, we chit chatted with a few of the regulars, and received a recommendation on some good books to enjoy with my girls. I love breakfast food and wanted to try a new place. The reviews here are mixed, and I wanted to see for myself. Parking wasn't an issue as there were plenty of spots. I came a bit early on a Sunday and beat the rush. Since I came a bit early, I was seated right away. They have a few areas for seating, but I can see this place filling quickly. My server, Meilani, was wonderful. She was attentive and shared her favorites and fan favorites, too. I ordered the hearty breakfast that comes with eggs, side, meat, and pancakes, which you can upgrade for a charge. I didn't customize anything because I wanted to see how it came out. The bacon was good but a little too soft. The hashbrowns were a little crisp but not as much as I'd like. Eggs were cooked great. The strawberry shortcake pancakes were ok, but I wouldn't order again. The Palm Fizz mimosa was really good. Bottom line, I would return because they have other menu items that I would like to try. Their cinnamon roll pancakes for sure. Next time, I'll say bacon and hashbrowns crispy. The price for the food and drinks is reasonable too, which is great. Breakfast staples were dry, cold and flavorless. Eggs were dry. Dry pancakes tasted like flour and oil. The food was room temperature. Coffee unremarkable. I sent back my breakfast; my hungry family preferred to eat theirs. Food looks nothing like the listed photos. We sat outside and the PA blasting the radio was too loud. Able to accommodate large parties with some advanced notice, we called a few minutes ahead and got in with no problems but the restaurant quickly became busy while we were dining. Sunny Street Café has a cozy home style atmosphere with modern flair, like a cuter STL Bread Co. in appearance. They have a giant sunny-side-up egg painted on the ceiling which I thought was very cute. They have pay up front at the register type of system there which I didn't like because the location has a small, crowded and cramped waiting area up front. They also had a considerable line for the restroom. P.S. I did watch a booth being bussed by staff, hostess came and set silverware on the table but dropped a set on the carpeted floor. She picked up off the floor then proceeded to set the table with it anyhow. An older couple were immediately seated at said booth and ate with a cutlery set they had no idea had just been on the floor. Yikes! I tried the Meat Lover's Breakfast. It came with 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, a sausage patty, a small slice of ham, hash browns and wheat toast. I got my eggs scrambled and they were cooked perfectly. The sausage was good, great flavors and no overpowering sodium. Surprisingly the ham was tender and delicious. The hash browns were a little undercooked and the wheat toast was a little thicker, this is good. My server was great. She delivered my food less than 5 minutes after I placed my order and she came back 3 times to check on me. They are in a strip mall so there's lot of parking in front and on the side. They have about 10 tables outside so you can enjoy the weather. The restaurant had messes on the floor. Someone needs to do periodic sweeping because it was noticeable to me. read more

Other than that, things were great. They didn't rush us, they brought everything we asked and then some. My 7 year old randomly asked the waitress for specific crayon colors. I told her not to bother (she was swamped), but she took care of it anyway, and chatted with him for over a minute about how great his drawing was, then hung it in the kitchen for the staff to see. After coming here for a Yelp Elite event, I knew I had to bring Hubby back. We came nearing the end of November because I HAD TO HAVE those pumpkin pancakes before they weren't on the menu anymore. When we arrived we waited more than 5 minutes for an employee to acknowledge us or the couple of people waiting to pay. This did not start the visit off well - especially since multiple employees had come by the area but none of them acknowledged us or the others waiting to pay. If I had not already been here before with amazing service, I would have left before they did acknowledge us and seat us. Our server was nice and let me know they did still have the pumpkin pancakes (they were not on the menu). She made some recommendations to Hubby as he was undecided. When the pancakes came out, they did not taste like the last time I had them and I was disappointed - they were very thick and heavy. I ate them and just went with it. Overall none of the food was hot - even the coffee was only warm. That was unusual. After getting the bill and going to pay I noticed that it said pancake full order on my receipt. I would have preferred knowing there were options when I ordered as I did not need the large size I received. I have been here a few times now and I am just not as impressed as I want to be. The service is ok, they are not neglectful or anything but you may have to ask for more coffee sometimes. Where I was really disappointed was the food itself. Twice now my eggs have been cold, so I ordered cheesy grits at my last visit and it was also cold. I don't know if they have an issue with cooking things and leaving them not even under a heat lamp but cold food when you have so many other amazing brunch options is just not where I want to go.
