My family and friends, 8 people in total, had a wonderful experience at the Boat House after being treated very poorly and neighboring Silver Birches. I got married at Silver Birches a few years ago and like to visit there during our annual Labor Day weekend vacation. This year they rudely turned us away (even though they had a table open- the same one they accommodated us at last year but wouldn't this year unless we paid $100 to rent the room- there were no parties waiting for the table/room that night). We called over to the Boat House, since we had no other plans for dinner and 3 hungry children and they accommodated us right away. They were friendly and the food was delicious. We frequented The BoatHouse since they opened. The BoatHouse was a Lake Wallenpaupack gem and well known and enjoyed by all when Woodloch owned it. Since Covid and taken over by new owners it has not only changed the food choice's drastically ,the quality has also gone down drastically! We gave it a chance for a while hoping they would improve over time.Unfortunately we left so many times disappointed we finally stopped going. We haven't heard anything positive since we left and know of so many people that have stopped frequenting The BoatHouse and are disappointed just as we are. Don't waste your money. read more

**Where is Jon Taffer when you need him?** This is by far the worst restaurant experience I've had. They forgot all of our sides and appetizers, and the drinks were completely wrong. After we pointed out that they forgot our food, the staff made us wait over 20 minutes before asking if we still wanted it. We asked for a refund and requested the check instead. It took another 10 minutes just to get the check, which still included the missing food. When we informed them, they said they'd fix it, but that took another 5 minutes, followed by an additional 5 minutes for someone to collect the bill. Finally, we paid and left. The craziest part? I want to start off by saying my husband and I own a restaurant so it takes A LOT for us so complain but this is needed. We started off by coming in and no one even acknowledged us for about ten minutes when we were waiting to get sat. Then finally they sat our party of 6 all the way in the back which is fine. There were maybe 6 other tables currently eating when we were sat. About 10/15 minutes went by before some greeted our table but before that about 4 servers walked by us and also cleaned two tables next to us and then also rolled silverware instead of finding a server for us. Finally, a guy came and took our drink order when took a while to bring the drinks out. Ordered our food and it took 1 hour and 30 mins for 6 sandwiches to come out! When I asked where our food was he said it's getting plated now and then we didn't see him for another 20 mins. Finally our food came out and it was all messed up and salmon sandwich they forgot the salmon, buckhorn sandwich was so soggy the bread fell apart, no aioli on any sandwiches. I asked for a manager and this was the craziest part! She came over immediately defensive. She told me my food was supposed to be cold (even the fries) my sons plate was so hot bc it was sitting under a heat lamp (she did not care) when asked why food took so long she said the patio was busy and they were training 4 new people in the back. Not a single sorry or anything she made it seem like we were the jerks for asking. Our server also did not apologize once! Every one around us got their food and left before we got anything. There's no excuse. Another server heard us complain and came over and told us how much of a "s*** show" its been there and we were right for saying something. They took 10% off our bill which was still $123! No one ate. We will not be back and we used to come here multiple times a month. We understand things happen but the lack of acknowledgment and no apologies is unacceptable. read more

This place seems to have been hit hard by the COVID economy. We went on a Saturday night, and they were severely understaffed. Pretty sure the waitstaff were doing double duty in the kitchen. We waited about 15 minutes before our drink orders were taken and about 30 minutes before our food orders were taken. At that point, I was so hungry that I ordered an appetizer. I was surprised that for $12, you get only 4 shriveled potato skins The entrees were OK but nothing to write home about. Plus, they forgot to cook one of the entrees, and it didn't arrive until the rest of us had finished our meal. I like to support local businesses, and I hope the owners are able to turn this ship around. I used to like going here. Suddenly the prices have sky rocketed and this has nothing to do with COVID. The increase is way beyond what it was and yet the interior is the same, average, vacation type of place. They want to charge like they are a top notch restaurant but they are not. It used to be $10-$12 for a nice burger and fries and a nice entree was around $25. Now all entrees over $40-$50. Two people, no alcohol, be dessert and the bill is $100. The food is decent but not worth paying this much. On top of astronomical increases to the prices they have the nerve to charge you 3% if you use a credit or debit card. Everyone uses cards which is an advantage to the restaurant and now they want to throw that charge on to the customer. They sign up for the service and then charge us for it. That's horrendous business in my opinion that small amount is insulting. I won't be back until things dramatically change. There are far too many options in this area and Honesdale to waste my time at a place that wants to nickel and dime you. read more

We are locals and have eaten at The Boathouse several times over the years. We were in Niceville and stopped by for dinner. I knew we were in trouble when the marquis sign read "We Are Open" and there were not very many vehicles in the parking lot. Upon being seated at our table we were told of the automatic 20% gratuity added to the check which was not a deal breaker since that is our usual amount to tip. The area we sat was so dark we had to use our phone lights to read the menu. We ordered our food and it was the worst ever. The service was good but over all it was not a good experience. We came late (after 830pm). We ordered the cheese curd appetize that was the best part. Hint of garlic but very good. They brought us salad with house dressing. The dressing was too garlicy for my taste. The chicken Parm and beef Short ribs lacked any kind of flavor. The potatoes had a hint of garlic and I needed to add salt but even that couldn't help them. Considering the price $$$$$. Very disappointed. They let us order the chicken Parm which wasn't on the menu. Yelp gave us a 10% discount for checking in, which was nice. read more

The outside bar tender used her bare hands to touch the cherries she put in my kids drinks. So gross!!!! When we ordered the drinks at the table there were no cherries. Dinner was fine. There were bread plates but no bread. The waitress forgot to bring my husband water so we had to ask again. We ordered dessert which never came after 30 mins of waiting I went to get the charge taken off. That took a very long time too. They also charge a 3% fee to use your credit card. Not even sure where to start! We ordered food to go and soups while we waited. When the soup came out we asked for crackers and were told that they were out. Who serves soup and doesn't have crackers?! We had no napkins when the soup came so we asked for some. Our waitress didn't come back until the to-go food was ready - which is when she brought the napkins and we had already finished our soup. How do you serve food and not provide napkins? Last time we were there the bathrooms were all 'closed for an issue'. Not even sure how a restaurant can be open without bathrooms?! This time they were open, but not all stalls working and the smell was awful like sewage. Finally when our server gave us the bill, we were charged $22.95 for the fish and chips when the menu had said $19. Turns out because she asked if we wanted old bay on the fish, there was a $4 up-charge! The fish didn't even taste like there was old bay on it & certainly not worth $4 that we weren't told about. Lastly, the cole slaw to-go was so small - size of a small ketchup or codiment container. For the $23 meal, should've been a little bigger! The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because the food was good. This place is very over priced. For example, we ordered an app of the hog hammers which was bbq pork shanks. We got 2 little shanks for $17. A little warning for a table of 4 that the appetizer is only two pieces would be nice. Service was slow and inaccurate albeit cheerful. Our waitress was very nice but a lot of our order got screwed up. We ordered 4 drinks and the only thing that was correct was the water. We sat down at 6:45 and dinner was served at 8:30. Again it tasted good, but it should after you read it a bed time story. Oh yeah don't add surf to your turf. Adding a lobster tail to your steak dinner will run you $40. Amazing experience. It was a little busy so we decided to sit at the bar. Marie, the bartender, was incredible. She was running all over because it was a little short staffed and the bar was packed plus having to work the service bar but Marie had a wonderful attitude and hustled her butt off to make sure everyone was taken care of. We got the mozzarella sticks to start and I had the buckhead sandwich (ribeye with caramelized onions, Swiss cheese And aioli on garlic toast. Omg wow is all I have to say. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. So good. My husband had the bourbon street burger and loved it. If we're ever back in town I'd for sure come back. My sister and I went to lunch yesterday May 26 2023. She ordered a turkey club and I ordered a corned beef sandwich. Her sandwich had edible turkey bacon etc but it wasn't a club. The manager said they only use 2 pieces of bread so it really isn't a club. Why not say sandwich? The real reason I'm writing this review was my corned beef. The pieces of meat were rolled as if on a platter and then put on the bread. When I tried to bite into the sandwich it was impossible I opened the corned beef which was a piece of fat and gristle. It was the most disgusting cold cut I would not have given it to a dog. Sorry dogs. The manager said that some cooks roll the meat on a sandwich and others don't. They obviously don't have anyone working as a chef but someone had to purchase the corned beef and that person should be fired. read more

In prior attempts to try, it was always too crowded. Finally got to go on a Tues at 5: 15. The first two items requested they were out of, so hubby settled for a burger (why didn't the server tell us what you were out of ahead of time???). His French onion soup was really good. Burger was okay. My fish and chips were far too greasy, and served in a wire basket, so very hard to cut. But after everything, the bill came with a discrepancy between the bill with items and total, and the credit card bill to sign with ALL ZEROS for items and a different ($3 more) total! So when we asked, the server at the counter said there is a 3% charge for using a credit card. It does not say it on the bill. When she took our card, it was not mentioned. Feels very deceptive.
