I had lunch with a buffalo!

I cannot understand for the life of me, why Fairview only has 3 1/2 stars. If you'd like the sweetened condensed version of my review, here: Fairview is beautiful, their staff is always friendly and their food is delicious. If you'd like a more detailed version of this culinary adventure, continue on... I've found it extremely hard to get a good meal in this neck of the woods... Fairview is one of the very few places that always hits the spot. The decor is stunning (unless you're a diehard PETA alum... There are deceased animal heads all over the walls.). I have been here twice so far but my boss visits Fairview frequently and is always pleased. Our waitress is very attentive but not to the point of annoyance. She's as friendly as can be, just like every other staff member I've encountered. The food... THE FOOD... Well, it's tasty! I've never been disappointed with the menu. The chef uses fresh and unique ingredients. And my God, DO NOT leave there without trying the chocolate torte. I've only been there around lunch time, but from what I see the prices are quite reasonable! If you're looking for the dollar menu, move along.. If you're looking for a fine dining establishment that won't break your bank, Fairview. Okay, I think I covered everything.. Chocolate torte, ambiance, chocolate torte, the friendly staff, chocolate torte, the menu, chocolate torte, the prices... Oh, and I can't forget to mention the chocolate torte. You're welcome. I'd definitely recommend Fairview... In fact I do. I even asked to have my bridal shower here... (But my bridesmaids are stingy.) Anyway, go there.

So sad this has closed. It was surely a treat in the Poconos. Unbelievable food, beautiful location - we will miss Fairview Lake Cafe.

Let's start with the obvious: this is supposedly a chop house. So how do you mess up the steak? I ordered medium and it came out rare, poorly cut, and completely flavorless. No crust, no seasoning, no care. It's impressive, honestly you have to actively try to make a steak this sad in a restaurant that literally has "chop house" in the name. Not worth the price for sure. The menu reads like someone threw darts at a culinary map. Sicilian kimchi? Why? The carpaccio had all the excitement of wet paper. The Caesar salad was wilted and bland. The onions and mushrooms were somehow both greasy and watery at the same time, an impressive feat of culinary confusion. The veal pasta was so aggressively lemony it tasted like someone dropped a bottle of Pledge into the pan. Then there was the whitefish special with chips that felt like a bizarre, half-hearted attempt to acknowledge the Jewish holiday. As a Jew, if that was the intention, it came across more like a punchline than a tribute. Presentation across the board looked rushed and sloppy. The real question is: who is the chef and what exactly are they doing back there? Because if your entire concept is a chop house and the steak is the worst part of the meal, something has gone very wrong. Gresham Chop House has great service, which is honestly the only reason this experience wasn't a complete disaster. But the kitchen needs a serious identity check, and maybe a salt shaker.

Food was outstanding & arrived very quickly. Eggplant parm was recommended by our server & was accompanied by excellent side of homemade pasta. The chicken Milanese was done to perfection. We saved some room for dessert. We enjoyed the crème brûlée which was creamy with a crisp caramelized topping. The panna cotta with a fruit coulis topping was a terrific recommendation by our server. We will definitely return & recommended to friends who want a special evening experience in NE PA.

There's no official kids' menu, but that didn't matter one bit. The owner himself came over to chat with our kids, and without hesitation, offered to make a personal pizza for our daughter. She devoured the entire pie. My son similarly polished off a plate of chicken on a bed of spinach in record time. We shared a round of calamari and the most beautifully balanced cheese board; paired with local honey, olives, and a perfectly chosen wine. The Cacio e Pepe? Hand-made that day, cooked to the most perfect al dente, and so delicious that my daughter declared, "It tastes like fancy mac and cheese." (High praise from a discerning 5-year-old.) It would be amiss if I didn't give a shoutout to Christian, the bartender, who felt more like a magician. I asked why my gin cocktail tasted so uniquely good, and he casually mentioned he had prepped it with cucumbers for six days. SIX. DAYS. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, we shared a crème brûlée--and it was the best kind of night-cap. Creamy, crackly perfection. Cozy, elevated, warm, and full of heart--Ravyn & Robyn is a gem I can't wait to visit again.

This place is garbage, no other way to say it. I don't know…read morewhere to start with this place. Or how to express how horrible the experience was here.... We drove an hour to come here for a birthday dinner. Let's start with the only good thing, the server was nice and friendly. The restaurant it self is cute, however when you start looking closely not the cleanest place, cobwebs and dust in all the corners but whatever. Now the food... horrible is too good of a word. Wife ordered the Scallops, she got 4 tiny, about the size of a quarter scallops, white rice which was unseasoned and tasted like mold, and green beans that were old and wilted and also unseasoned. I ordered the "cowboy cut" rib eye. First off this was not a cowboy cut which is usually a nice bone in steak, this was the worst quality steak I have ever eaten, I know ribeyes are usually fatty compared to other cuts, but there was no edible meat on this steak. Basic salt and pepper seasoning, nothing special, and the "whiskey butter" was completely flavorless. Came with garlic mashed potatoes that were also unseasoned and flavorless and the same old wilted green beans as my wife. Even the soda I ordered was flat. No choice of sides, you get what you get and most likely will get upset.... I've had better food sold out of the trunk of peoples cars and the audacity of the owners to call this "fine dining". Dollar general sells a better quality steak than this... Claimed they took 20% off the bill cause we didn't like the food but when we did the math, they took 20% off my steak and not the total bill. I dont understand how this place has such good reviews... What an absolute disgrace and disappointment. Do better... No wonder the place was empty , we should have taken that as a sign and just left than. Ended up at Arby's which was far better a choice than Fairview, also even the name is a lie, Fairview? View of what the abandoned house across the street? Stay away from this place. Also look up their health inspection report....

Amazing dinner again as usual!!! We frequent this place and it's always amazing. Cant wait to come…read moreback.
