Service was good. Truly. The staff did their job well. Unfortunately, they're working incredibly hard to serve food that the kitchen clearly isn't. Let's start with the obvious: this is supposedly a chop house. So how do you mess up the steak? I ordered medium and it came out rare, poorly cut, and completely flavorless. No crust, no seasoning, no care. It's impressive, honestly you have to actively try to make a steak this sad in a restaurant that literally has "chop house" in the name. Not worth the price for sure. The menu reads like someone threw darts at a culinary map. Sicilian kimchi? Why? The carpaccio had all the excitement of wet paper. The Caesar salad was wilted and bland. The onions and mushrooms were somehow both greasy and watery at the same time, an impressive feat of culinary confusion. The veal pasta was so aggressively lemony it tasted like someone dropped a bottle of Pledge into the pan. Then there was the whitefish special with chips that felt like a bizarre, half-hearted attempt to acknowledge the Jewish holiday. As a Jew, if that was the intention, it came across more like a punchline than a tribute. Presentation across the board looked rushed and sloppy. The real question is: who is the chef and what exactly are they doing back there? Because if your entire concept is a chop house and the steak is the worst part of the meal, something has gone very wrong. Gresham Chop House has great service, which is honestly the only reason this experience wasn't a complete disaster. But the kitchen needs a serious identity check, and maybe a salt shaker. read more

The food is mediocre at best. The service/our waitress ( maybe two for the whole dining room) was overworked and bustaff clueless. I ordered salmon fagolie and chose a baked potatoe for my side. (Which the menu describes that you have a choice of) either that or pasta. When my dinner came it was without the beans. I asked the waitress where are the beans she said you got a potato instead. I said the menu says salmon with beans. I want the beans with the fish as well as a baked potato. Anyway she came back with the beans it was fine but kind of embarrassing to ask for what should have come with the dish. Then the bus people only took one dish away at a time and left our app dishes piled on the table the whole time. We had desert with dishes all over the table. My husband finally asked one girl to clear the table. I noticed another large table still had dishes all over their table as they left. AND we never got any bread because I saw they didn't put it at a nearby table untill their dinner was served... A way to save a few pennies. Very sloppy run place. Years ago it was a fine dining experience but no more. Never again. The new gen of owners need a course on how to run a food establishment. The poor waitress also had To go to the basement herself looking for a bottle of wine we asked for off the BS wine list. Interesting enough the wine menu had no prices for the wine by the glass. Also open for price interpretation and pricing by the bartenders will. The place needs a trained staff and bus people that do the running for the waitress and actually help her provide good service. I've never been so rushed at a restaurant before especially one that was 3/4 empty. The drinks,appetizers and bread all came out together. The calamari tasted like greasy frozen garbage you would buy at restaurant depot. Before our apps were finished our entrees appeared. The stuffed scallops were a shell filled with bread,celery and what appeared to be tiny cut up pieces of shrimp?? They were served with some strange ice cold risotto The catch of the day was stuffed mahi which tasted very fishy. Both meals were absolutely disgusting. The waitress never came back to check on us to see if wanted drinks or anything but we should have anticipated this when she left us a pitcher of water so we could fill our own glasses. I don't know who the chef is at Gresham's Chop House, but someone needs to check if they've ever actually cooked a steak before. For a place that calls itself a chop house, the food coming out of that kitchen is embarrassing. The steak was overcooked, dry, and somehow still bland at the same time--like seasoning is a foreign concept back there. The sides tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, and the plating looked like zero care went into it. When you're charging chop house prices, you should at least have a chef who understands the basics of cooking meat. Honestly, it felt like the kitchen was just guessing their way through the menu. If this is the standard the chef is putting out, they're doing the entire restaurant a huge disservice. I've had better steaks at chain restaurants and dive bars. The atmosphere wasn't much better either--crowded tables, loud, and just an overall uncomfortable vibe. It felt more like a chaotic diner than a nice restaurant by the lake. read more

I went to dinner with a couple of friends from South Carolina and we both ordered salads with steak that were about four pieces of steak and it was drawn out waitress offered an apology and nothing was ever done to replace it with another meal or add something to it overpriced but the ambience is wonderful. read more

Honestly: NOT BAD for the Poconos. We came here earlier this week to celebrate a birthday and the whole experience was better than anticipated. It's a cute spot, and while the view consists more of the road than of the lake, it's still nice to be there and have a window wall to the outside. There's a full bar, but be warned that some of the beers on tap taste really off. The calamari we started with was surprising crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Didn't taste like fresh seafood, of course, but still, expectations were exceeded! For dinner, one of us got the eggplant and buratta with "heirloom tomatoes" that were simply just sliced cherry tomatoes, so false advertising. The eggplant was nice and crisp but it was served cold, so that was unwelcome. The steamed broccoli was good. Our daughter got their meat lasagna special, and once again: not bad!!! Like, gooey and hot and saucy and nothing to complain about. Both steaks the guys ordered were cooked correctly: the fillet was interesting with the bacon and the cowboy steak was a large hunk of meat that--we're saying this as Texans--didn't impress but got the job done. We skipped dessert to go to our beloved Dairy Twist. Our server was very hospitable and the ambience was nice overall all things considered. We're landing on three stars, but it's a happy three, and we can even see ourselves coming here again. read more

We've passed this place several times on our Sunday drives over the years but today we decided to stop in. Of course it was a perfect day weather wise and we sat on the outside deck. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!! First off I called at 4 to make a reservation for a party of 3 for my sons birthday and the receptionist said they don't do reservations for party's of 3 to just come down to be seated. We get there at 6 and are then told it's a 30 minute wait!! Ok so we are then told they will text us when our table is ready. Only took the 30 minutes she said it would but when we were seated the ambiance was just NOT that nice. For such a great location next to a beautiful lake there wasn't much of a view!!! So disappointing! And the waitresses are all dressed in jeans or jean shorts!! Very unprofessional looking to me! But hey to each their own I guess!? Then we get our food and it was just OK. To be honest I get better steak and mashed potatoes for half the price at Long Horn Steakhouse!!! And then we get our bill and the price was OUTRAGEOUS!!! Shannon was our server and she was AWESOME!! The place is really cool and has a great atmosphere. The food was great. They start you off with bread and some type of olive oil infused with rosemary, I think, with shredded cheese in it. We had to ask for more, it was so good. I then had the Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella which could not have been better. My entrée was Garden Pasta which was angel hair pasta, instead of penne, fresh broccoli, button mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, spinach, oil, and garlic. Terrible. TERRIBLE. No other words. The service is terrible and the food is terrible. I decided to have dinner here tonight. I sat at the bar that had no more than 6 other people seating there. Right out of the gate the bartender seemed unorganized and inexperienced. I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail, and a Filet Mignon Medium Rare. The dinner comes with a salad and I chose oil and vinegar for the dressing. The shrimp cocktail was delivered and it was good. The shrimp were definitely frozen but the cocktail sauce was good. Not sure 4 frozen shrimp warrants a $10.95 price tag. My salad was then delivered with a single ramekin filled with oil and a drop of Vinaiger in it. There was no way to eat this salad without dousing the entire 1/4 cup of oil onto the small salad. For a moment I thought about telling the bartender that oil and vinegar needs to be served separately but I had no desire to train this restaurant's staff. Finally after 30 minutes and everyone else seated around the bar receiving their food the bartender came over to me and said the cook overcooked your Filet so he had to start over. After another 10-15 minutes I was finally delivered my filet. I cut into it and it seemed very rare. After several bites I realized the filet was very very rare to the point of being "black and blue". At this point I was annoyed with this restaurant with the bartender and wanted nothing to do with them. I called the bartender over and showed him my uncooked steak and he acted as if he could care less. I told him I'm not paying for this and I wanted my check. For the prices they charge and given they call themselves a Chop House they should be ashamed of themselves. I suspect this will be the next restaurant in the area to close their doors. Tonight I planned a birthday dinner for my husband with our children, my sister, brother in law and their 3 girls. The staff was rude, cold, and unwelcoming from the moment we entered. From the lack of service.... we were never checked on once to see if we needed anything , the horrible food, ....my $45 filet was like a hockey puck, and how they treated us on the way out says everything you need to know to steer clear of this establishment. So strange, but everyone's chairs were falling backwards when they would stand up while we were there. My 3 year old niece fell backwards hitting her lip and bleeding everywhere. Not one employee, not 1!!! Came over to see if she was ok and if we needed anything! That really bothered us but we just pushed through. Then to top it all off, as if there could be anymore, as we were leaving , your staff had the nerve to tap my brother in law on the shoulder to see if we were going to clean up the kids mess under the table, which consisted of 4 stickers. Our children were coloring and playing with puffy stickers while we tried to have a nice dinner. Before leaving my husband and I took all the " puffy stickers " off the table and put them where the trash was . Nothing was ruined they were puffy stickers, they are kids. We always go above and beyond to help clean the normal children's mess. If you aren't expecting some noodles on the floor then I would stress that you don't allow children. The fact that you ask your customers who just spent over $500 to pick up some noddles and stickers off the floor is insane! We commented on their Facebook page about our disgust and outrage and they came back with further insults and then took down the conversation like a bunch of cowards. First timers after many years visiting this area. We were seated at an outside table, overlooking the beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack. The spot was perfect! Our waitress was very nice, attentive and knowledgeable of all their menu items and dinner specials. I ordered the most perfect Delmonico Steak, medium rare. That's exactly how it came to the table. We put our name in and went to the back outdoor bar for a drink while we waited for our table - I really loved the vibes back there! Beautiful views of the lake (I wish they could maybe remove some of the trees along the water line to get a better view but I think they are protected by PPL or something). Ok, so my food was terrible. But to top it off, the experience was awful. I saw multiple people getting wrong orders. My poor kids buttered noodles were inedible. We couldn't get a waitress to clear the table, never mind bring us dessert menus. Then the kicker. The kids had puff stickers that are reusable. My wife and I love coming here for dinner. The staff is always friendly, professional, and make you feel welcome. The host, wait staff, the younger folks who clear the plates from the table, even wait staff for other tables are always smiling and asking how your food is - really making you feel special. The food is always top notch! I have celiac, so I have to eat gluten free, and their menu tells you what is GF so I don't have to make any special requests. The wait staff seems to be well versed on celiac / gluten free, so I never worry about cross contamination or asking how things are prepared. The prices are reasonable, about what you would expect from a higher end establishment like Gresham's. read more

We are from NY and this is what I'd expect to pay in the city (and your probably get more) Atmosphere is nice and the place is lively with what looked like a regular crowd. Salad was four leaves of lettuce on a ramekin, the calamari was definitely frozen and ultra small for $17 and French onion soup was good but may as well have been a thimble's worth. The salmon was tasty but the fillet mignonette were far too rare and at $40+ was like going to a steakhouse in NYC. Overall nice place but way too expensive for what you get. Either ratchet down the prices or increase the quantity / size of apps entres. read more
