I came back to Ossining this week for my best friend's wedding, and we stopped by The Boathouse for dinner. I am so glad we did. I've been before, but never for dinner. The Boathouse is one of those places with decor that is incredibly welcoming, and when you walk in, the staff, and the owner, immediately treat you like family. We were seated and our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive and kind. We ordered a bunch of food to share, and everything was fresh, the perfect temperature, and it all tasted amazing. Our table ordered the following: 1. The clams: These were unlike any clams I've had before. The broth was incredible and the clams, fresh. 2. The crab cakes: These were seasoned perfectly and the tartar sauce that went with them, was some of the best I've ever had. 3. The lobster roll: They gave you so much meat, and the tarragon aioli was a great touch. I also loved how they used just enough of that aioli. Order this! 4. The Arancini: Crispy and cheesy, with an amazing vodka sauce for dipping. What more could you ask for. After these appetizers, I ordered the Seafood PotPie. It was filled with Shrimp, Scallops and Crawfish and the sauce was this incredibly creamy bisque. Honestly - this is a star dish, especially as it is getting colder outside. I could not recommend The Boathouse more. The food, the staff, the drinks, the setting - all of it was wonderful. Thank you to Lisa, Ryan and the entire staff. You are all wonderful! Fresh and delicious seafood right on the Hudson River next to boat slips. Gorgeous view of the river as you eat your dinner and watch the sunset! Dinner starts with delicious hot homemade bread! I wanted to like the food. The place is cute, right on the docks. But I ordered the crab cakes for lunch ($19) and received two perfectly round cakes from the deep fryer, clearly frozen. The inside of them was mush, like tuna salad without any veggies for crunch. That's all that was on the plate besides condiments and a couple pieces of lettuce. Really just bad. If you are on the water maybe have fresh items and take the frozen items off the menu. When I finished my server asked if I'd like to see the menu again - even he knew that those small cakes did not a lunch make. read more

The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and the waitstaff couldn't be better, but the food just isn't very good and we're always disappointed - which for the cost - I'd just expect better. If the food was better - I'd be here every week as it's so close and I love the view/ Highlight of the menu is definitely the tuna sandwich. believe the bad reviews. i cannot even wrap my head around how bad this was. drinks are good. spicy crab fries looked like vomit and tasted alright. tuna poke came with no more than 5-10 pita chips and just tasted like teriyaki sauce. seafood pot pie was good, but my stomach was turning after we found more than one hair cooked into the batter of the wings we ordered- which were unappetizing even before we found the hair. took about 25 minutes to get water which we ended up having to ask someone who was not our waiter for. wouldn't be surprised if I woke up with food poisoning. frozen, disgusting, overpriced food with trash service. waste of my time and money. run away and stay away. read more

Our server was super sweet and attentive. She was always around when we needed anything. The Food: The food was served pretty quickly. The portion is huge, perfect to share. French Onion Soup - Topped with melted swiss cheese. The best french onion soup ever!! It is not over-salted. Lots of cheese on top.... so cheesy!! Boathouse Burger - Stuffed with bacon, tomato, monterey Jack cheese and served with frizzled onions. Big burger~ The meat is so juicy. All the ingredient is very fresh. Cobb Salad - Romaine, chicken, avocado, tomato, bacon, red onion, crumbled blue cheese, tossed in our house dressing. OMG! The portion is huge, at least can feed 3 people! Not over-dressing. Perfect! The Lisa Marie - Macaroni and cheese with chicken and hot peppers. I called this "adult" version of Mac & Cheese! Super cheesy and HOT! Definitely a kick after each bit. I love it~ The Parking: Private parking lot (FREE). The Direction: We set the address on our GPS, unfortunately, we still got lost & had to call the restaurant for directions. Just finished lunch on the covered patio. The Hudson River view, the cool summer breeze, two Sauvignon Blancs paired with a salad, mussels (les moules) and a clam roll did the job for my wife and me. Exactly what we needed considering we were not on the deck outside the Caribbean condo we don't have. Enjoyed watching the youngsters coming into the yacht club next door after their sailing class. A terrific spot for a lunch, a drink (or two), and then a nap! read more

Nice to see my son when he stops into town so, last night with my daughter and I the three of us found ourselves at The Boathouse. Took a second to seat us but, once they did the service was excellent and the food grand. My daughter had a black bean burger. My son had the Lisa Marie, which is mac n cheese with chicken fingers and hot pepper. Check the pics, yes it's as huge a serving as it looks. I had the seafood pot pie which came in a crock with a pretty pastry hat. Shrimps, scallops, crayfish all fresh and bountiful inside. Cold beer in clean glasses were the only other thing we required. We are out of towners, in town for the fall market in sleepy hollow and popped in here and boy are we happy we did. We sat inside and were sat immediately at 7:30 on a Friday night. Our server was Ryan, he was kind, courteous, patient and a hustler! He was taking care of at least 6-7 tables in addition to ours! Food we started off with the arancini, that was absolutely amazing, could have had that for my meal alone! They come three to a serving, and the flavors were spot on and the vodka sauce was a great touch! Main entrees we're the Lobster roll, it was jam packed and very flavorful. The fish and chips were a huge portion and can hold its own with the best fish and chip shops in the UK. Also ordered was a "create your own burger" which we added goat cheese and bacon and it was large and very flavorful! This place is just OK. It's a shame because of the location, it could be really great. The view and ambience are really nice. They have a great bar and would recommend heading there for drinks for sure based on the bar and view. The restaurant and dining were just mediocre at best. We were there for a business dinner so everyone had many different items. No one was overly impressed with their food from apps to dinner and desert. Not to say that it was bad, but just average, somewhat bland. The same could also be said for the service. The server was ok, but missed refilling drinks, really seem to care how we were doing, etc. When leaving you can tell that the service staff cared more about hanging out with each other then their tables. Parking situation is a comedy of errors. We started with the mussels and they were average. He ordered the lobster roll with French fries, didn't care for either. I had the seared tuna salad. The outside was a rock even though I ordered it medium rare. I had to scrape the seeds off to cut into it. The dressing was very off putting, but the waitress was very nice a recommend the balsamic which was fine. The staff was very nice but the actual restaurant was a complete turn off. Seated right away on a hot and humid day. Waited almost 15 minutes for server to take our drink order. If you want water, you must buy bottled. Spicy crab fries were not available "we ran out of sauce yesterday and the chef doesn't come in until later". Should've been our first warning. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich thingy, bit into it and it was RAW!!! My cousin got the same sandwich...RAW!! We sent it them back. I refused to order anything else as I was repulsed. A few minutes later they tried to bring out the SAME Dishes under the guise that they were cooked properly this time. RAW CHICKEN TOUCHED EVERYTHING ON THAT PLATE. How do you send that back in good conscience? The sandwiches were not on final bill and they comped one water (that I was forced to buy if I wanted water). Never going back. read more

Had a very pleasant dinner right on the water. Lovely back deck and a beautiful sunset. Felt comfortable dining outside, socially distanced. Nice view of the river and the boats coming into the marina. We did not have a reservation and had beers on the boat deck while waiting about 20 minutes for a table. It was busy for a Tuesday night and there was a steady stream of inquiries about when the live music and wine tastings would resume. The staff in really spectacular. They are very attentive and really hustle. Like every restaurant, they are short-handed. We had the boathouse burger, the crab cake sandwich, the shrimp po'boy and the grilled salmon. All were perfectly prepared and devoured. We did not attempt to park in the boathouse parking lot, just parked on Westerly Road in front of it. read more

The Boathouse is a great restaurant located right on the water in Ossining. The owners/staff are very welcoming- they greet you right as you come in and take good care of you, as if you're entering their own home. The atmosphere is classy yet you can wear a pair of jeans and fit right in- it's the best of both worlds! The food was impressive. First off, the bread was a basket of warm fluffy deliciousness. A tad more pricey then is warranted by the food and furnishings, but the service was vastly improved over my previous two visits. I really enjoyed the Quinoa Salad with Grilled Vegetables except that it arrived at the table at room temperature in its entirety. This either needs to be served with HOT grilled veggies and HOT Quinoa, or COLD all the way around, 75-degrees is simply not a pleasing temperature for food of this nature. The 'roasted-red-pepper\ soup was good, but the portion was far too small given the price. The bar selectiongs - while small were good selections, I can;t wait to see what they do with their concrete 'waterside patio' area. Frankly I am a bit put-off by the porta-potty at the entrance to it, but it wasn't set up or in operation yet this season, so maybe they will get it together better....I hope they do for one! Right on the Hudson, between a boat yard and a Yacht club, they serve inside and outside, and also at the edge of the pier - outside. Typical American Bar food, but - Huge portions of Delicious! I got a large soup bowl of delicious Clam Chowder, that was almost a meal by itself. We also had BBQ sauce chicken wings that were delicious. Roasted Salmon in Mustard & Dill sauce, with mashed potatoes with the skin, and crisp (not soggy, wilted, mushy) Asparagus. I could not finish the amount of food on my plate. My better half ordered a Tuna sandwich, seared and delicious, with julienne red peppers, carrots & jalapeños, with a serving of crisp French fries. Everything was served quite quickly, by very attentive and friendly wait-staff. The food came out Hot and quickly, even though the place was hopping busy and full. This restaurant is a bit difficult to find. However, the view is gorgeous and the servers were extremely attentive. I went with a group of 13 and our service was quick and accurate. The fried calamari was perfectly crispy; however, there were some frying issues because the breading didn't really adhere to the calamari. There were herbs in the breading, but the calamari lacked seasoning and didn't taste like much without the sauces. The New England clam chowder was creamy and flavorful and there were actually chunks of clams in it, unlike many other places that only use clam stock. There was a good underlying smokiness from the bacon and who doesn't like bacon? For my entree, I got the linguine, which came with clams and grilled shrimp. The overall flavoring could have been amped up because it was a little bland. There was an overwhelming garlic taste to it and the shrimp were not cooked all the way through. As far as the other entrees go, many people in our party ordered The Boathouse burger and raved about it. The burger was juicy and succulent, with crispy fried onions and perfectly salted fries. Others got the salmon wrap and the avocado really helped to increase the moistness of the fish. One person ordered the black and white tuna salad and she said it was absolutely divine. The tuna was cooked medium rare and the toasted sesame seeds gave the dish an irresistible aroma. Overall, the service is hard to beat, but the food could use some help. read more

Second time visiting The Boathouse last night. Staff, although ONLY one waiter in the entire waiting room, did an excellent job doing his best. Attentive equally to everyone. Poor menu choices for side dishes: asparagus, fries, and garlic mashed potatoes. Where are the veggies? Not everyone wants potatoes all the time. Clams appetizer broth was overly sweet. Bread on the table was great tasting once you accomplished to cut it --- hard as a rock. Breading on fried fish super salty. Had to kill a few flies right immediate by us to somewhat enjoy what was in front of us. No dairy-free dessert choices. No drink menu was offered. Not coming back too soon again. Ooh, and the entrance to the lot!!! extremely challenging to maneuver in the hairpin turn. Surprised so many ppl attempt this. Horrible. read more

I may be a little biased on this one because my friend's parents own the place. But I feel comfortable enough telling you this is a top notch place because I know how they treat their guests and the love, care and quality that goes into the food. Expect big portions at this restaurant and hearty tasty pastas. The sauces they use on the different pastas are amazing, nothing blend about it. The actual location is lovely, by the water with a romantic view. Definitely recommend it if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed. Ps. There's a full bar! :D read more

I gave this place a 2nd try cause news 12 said it was so good but in my opinion it was over priced, food wasnt that good, the clams gave me a sore throat, and tasted like bacon not like clams, alot of times restaurants use bacon to hide the taste of the seafood when its gone bad or partially gone bad. Fresh clams have never given me a sore throat. The parking and turning around space was very tight and they had no Handicapped access to the inside or outside tables. The service wasnt to bad but the parking and access wasn't good. The food was nothing to write home about, and way over priced....id rather go to Texas Roadhouse where they have great service, great food, fair and reasonable prices, Handicapped access even for our Veterans!!! read more
