    Clam po' boy
    Louise F.

Updating my review --- We decided to sit outdoors overlooking the marina at The Boathouse in Ossining -- such a lovely spot with a relaxed, waterfront vibe. To start, we had cocktails. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary, which came topped with two grilled shrimp -- buttery, nicely seasoned, and perfectly cooked. He really enjoyed it. I went with an Aperol Spritz, which was light, crisp, and refreshing. For an appetizer, we shared the steamed clams in a red pepper and bacon broth. The clams were meaty and flavorful, and the broth was so delicious we soaked it up with their homemade bread, fresh from the oven. Our server was friendly, efficient, and offered great suggestions. My husband wanted fish and chips, but instead of the full platter, he asked if he could have it on a roll. The waiter suggested turning it into a po' boy, and it was a fantastic idea! He even asked if my husband wanted it a little spicy -- he said yes -- and the result was an enormous, perfectly fried sandwich. The fish was crispy on the outside, flaky inside, and not heavy at all. I had a few bites and was impressed. It came with crispy, golden fries that were excellent. I was there for what I believed would've my last lobster roll this year. I meant to order the cold lobster roll but accidentally ordered the warm one -- and I'm glad I did! It was absolutely delicious, with whole pieces of claw and knuckle meat (nothing shredded), just tossed in a tarragon aioli and served on a toasted bun with the same crispy fries. The outdoor patio has about 10 tables, covered for shade, and the indoor area is bright, nicely air-conditioned, with a bar area featuring high-top booths and another section with regular tables. Overall, the food, service, and setting were all wonderful. I'll definitely be back -- next time to try that cold lobster roll! On site free parking is another plus.

This was the dish I had. It's supposed to be a gumbo however it was dry as a bone.

I made a reservation yesterday 7/24/26 for today (7/25/26), and specifically requested a table for two on the patio. We arrived a little early and were seated at a table in direct, intense sunlight. I mentioned that it was extremely hot, but was told the sun would go down shortly. After about 10-15 minutes, myself and my friend started to feel uncomfortable, sweating and I started to develop a headache from sitting in the sun. When a more comfortable table for two became available on the patio, I politely asked if we could move to that table. Instead of trying to accommodate us, we were met with resistance and were told that the table was reserved, even though the guests had just left. When I pointed out that we had simply requested a patio table for two, and was not made aware that tables are assigned, which they are not assigned tables. I still received the same response, that the table we were initially seated at was our assigned table. The interaction with the hostess felt unfriendly and unnecessarily argumentative. It wasn't until I said we would just leave that they finally agreed to move us. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience. I ordered the seafood, chicken, and andouille gumbo. Initially, I was told they didn't think it was available, The rice was undercooked and hard, and the whole dish was dry. We will not be returning. At least our waitress was nice.

    View from outdoor patio.

I had such a great experience at The Boathouse in Ossining! The lobster rolls were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The fish and chips were crispy and light without being too greasy. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. They have an outdoor area where they use a boat as a bar, super creative. Live music was playing, and we were watching the sun set over the water, felt like the perfect way to wrap up a summer Saturday.

Visited for my birthday dinner with my parents and boyfriend at the time. Decent food at reasonable prices. The service was excellent; the staff was accommodating when we asked to move inside from the wind (A plus that they have indoor and outdoor seating). Quiet ambiance. Small tucked away gem with parking and some lovely photo spots!

Afterwork dinner with my friend. The calamari and shrimp with garlic mash was delicious. My friend had the Salmon with terriyaki sauce and garlic mashed. I like the salmon better. The ambiance was great for a summer evening with outdoor seating near the water. Service was great, the waiter made great recommendations.

Misleading guidance on the website. Boat yard is just a food truck.
    Matt K.

Website does not make clear that the outdoor boatyard area is not part of the restaurant but just a small food truck with limited choices. Stopped here on a long drive thinking tables were first come first served at this area only to find I had ended up at a food truck. Not happy about that - left to go elsewhere.

Drove passed the place 100 times while going to No. 3 Westerly...what a mistake! The place is so cool. Exactly what you expect by the name Boat House. New England Dive Bar vibes with delicious food and a nice drink selection. My Lobster Roll was yummy and FULL of delicious fresh Lobster meat. Our server Lyndsey was so nice and helpful with our questions ( as first timers ) we came for brunch but are very looking forward to coming back for dinner and cocktails at the "Boat Bar" outside. Please mind the Duck Crossing sign in the lot, as they ducks really do come right up...and as reflected in my pics, one casualty has already occurred..RIP. I Thought for years this was a private clubhouse..it is not..its a great, charming, welcoming Riverside Gem. Definitely come check it out and Enjoy!

We arrived for our reservation on time, but were not seated for about 30 minutes, waiting for a table to leave. I was getting a little anxious, as we had only a certain amount of time to sit and enjoy and my sons having one get back to work and one to his baseball game. We were finally seated. Our server was friendly. We placed the whole order right away, as we were pressed for time at this point. Our apps came out and were very good. Arrancini balls and calamari. for dinner I had the crab cake sandwich, my sons the pollo doro sandwich, and my husband had the garden salad, and up the river wrap. unfortunately my husbands salad came with his sandwich. Our food was good. Service was okay. we had to ask for water refills, bread, etc. we were not informed of the specials. I only knew they had some because she told the table next to us. ANYWAY... We would go back, but perhaps with more time.

    Tuna poke

It took about thirty minutes to serve food after ordering and the waiter also was quite slow to get our check etc. the food was ok. It's fresh but the flavor isn't the best. I lived in Hawaii for six years and ordered tuna poke here. And it tasted very unauthentic. It's very sweet and salty. Overall, not the best experience but they do have killing water front view if you get to eat outside

Went here a few weeks ago. Loved the environment and the boat bar. The food was perfect and delicious and service was reasonable and prompt. Menu was well priced for higher end items. Will return!

I have had this entree in, I'd estimate, 50 restaurants, including several in England where I think it originated. NONE even come close to here! Oh My - the two big, thick pieces of lightly battered fresh cod fried to perfection! Flaky, moist and delectable. It just doesn't get any better! Wow! The fresh, hand-cut thick fries were again fried to perfection. Golden crispy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside. I don't know what their secret frying technique is or the type of oil they use but the flavor is light and delicious. Even their homemade coleslaw tastes like they just made it - so fresh with a little tang - Mmm! We ended with a very unique lemon flan, even though we all said we couldn't eat another thing. Overall, portions are generous (we took home some left overs!), service staff were friendly and attentive, and the Owner & Head Chef, Elmer came out to check on us and tell us some of his culinary encounters with blue fin tuna. The menu(s) had a wonderful selection of food and drinks, along with some specials. They do use a QR code for their menus, but noticed they also had paper menus upon request. Our server was friendly and attentive. The other members of staff would also check in as they passed by. My boyfriend enjoyed the PB & J Latte along with the creole shrimp Benedict. He said it was seasoned well, right level of spice, stated the eggs were poached perfectly, and really enjoyed how moist the cornbread was. I indulged with the "Tipsy Palmer" which is an Arnold Palmer with Bourbon in it. To be honest, there wasn't much of a bourbon taste to it, if any at all, but for a summer brunch drink, it was refreshing. For my entree, I chose the chicken Caesar sliders. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed as the brioche buns seemed a little on the stale/stiff side. The homemade caesar dressing was delicious, but they only coated the lettuce in it which resulted in a bit of a dry slider. I believe the sliders would benefit from a bit of the dressing at least on the bottom of the bun. I asked for (and received) a side of the dressing to bring home to dress up my remaining sliders. Lastly, and I know this is extremely minor, but the silverware was placed incorrectly (knife and fork reversed with the knife edge in the wrong direction). Again, I am WELL AWARE this is minor, but for me, sometimes the minor details are the things that stand out. Overall, a wonderful experience and will try them again at a later date.

The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

Good food and good service with fair prices. We enjoyed it a lot........

Excellent stuffed pork chop with gravy and spinach and roasted potatoes (substituted for yams) The tender chop for $29.99 was an excellent value and really flavorful and tender. The penne with broccoli rabe was alDente and had great ripini flavor with garlic $25.99. Beer and wine selections were excellent at a reasonable cost. 512 bistro is Recommended.
