Good seafood in a nice atmosphere. Need to Uber or drive there We have been there twice and enjoyed both times.

First, I want to say that despite how busy the place was we had very good service. Our server, Tom, was wonderful! He was there every time we needed something. For appetizers we had fried conch fritters and the fried green tomatoes. Generous servings and very tasty. Fried green tomatoes could have been fried a bit longer to get that golden color but still good. For entrees we had shrimp and grits, fried shrimp, beet and walnut salad with salmon. We all agreed that our meals were generous in portions and very flavorful. Shrimp and grits could use a bit of spice to offset the creamy grits but they were good. I happen to like a spicier food. It was beautiful outside and we enjoyed the atmosphere on the patio and the live music. I was pleased to get a good pour of Cabernet. So many restaurants have gone to trying to get five pours from a bottle. I was happy to get a real glass of wine. Overall a total win! We will be back. read more

My family and my fiances family threw us an engagement party here. They were able to set up a menu with appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts beforehand. We had the back patio for 2 hours before it was opened to the public for dinner. It was big enough for about 15 people. We had great service from Max and another server, who were with us the whole time. We started off with conch fritters, chilled oysters, brussel sprouts with bacon and blue cheese, and coconut shrimp. Everything was delicious and fresh, and they were quickly eaten up. For the entree, I picked the stuffed grouper with sweet potato and pimiento cheese grits, along with a Cosmo. The grits and the potato were my favorites. The fish was good, but a little dry. I tried not to fill myself too much in order to save room for dessert. The desert was a key lime pie with a huge amount of meringue on top. After that piece, I was completely filled! We had such a great time and a great experience. We love it! I took my mother there for a night out as she rarely gets out of the house. We sat outside and had Joe was our waiter. He was great, so personable and attentive, kept checking back with us and made out night quite enjoyable. Food was good, reasonably priced too. Plenty to choose from and fresh tasting as well. There was a fire in the firepit and the band was really cool! I love this place and first time my mom has been there...she wants to go back and bring her friends.... It breaks my heart to write a bad review in my hometown of St. Auggie, but customers must demand more out of this place. We ordered Shrimp&Grits, which is PRETTY darn difficult to mess up. We couldn't even eat it under the mound of parmesan cheese. (I love parmesan, but the grits were yuck!) The staff was behind the bar pouring a Styrofoam cup full of casamigos tequila. We've eaten here many times, but we brought a group of 10 this morning for Father's Day brunch. If I gave it anything other than a 10, I'd be lying!! The chicken and waffles I preferred were great, and everyone else raved about shrimp and grits, burgers, oysters (Virginia and st augustine). Went Sunday for brunch , it's was meh service was terrible , fried mahi was dried and came cold no sauce , when we asked for lemon slices , the waiter got us 3 pieces of mushy bar slices of lemon, crab Benedict were terrible , crab was dried and not fresh , also came cold with unflavored pimento grits also cold , the kid's burger was served in side dish May be 12 fries and the burger on top , terrible and wasn't even busy . I'm not sure what happened a month ago seeing other reviews to April 24th but l can tell you I won't be going back. Cute place wrong location. The band was amazing, probably my favorite part of dining there. The food took about an hour and a half to come out. People we're literally trying to leave and not eat their meals because they had been waiting so long and still had no food. I got the poke bowl, it was filled with soy sauce to the point I questioned if they knew how to make a proper one... sticky rice? I don't think so it tasted like regular white rice. I was expecting some of that pink spicy Mayo and nope there was none of that. My husband, he got a burger and he didn't even eat the entire thing which is super odd.. it was like it was thrown together and sitting under a heat lamp super dry and physically not appealing. I asked for a piña colada and my server never brought one out so I made sure it wasn't on my bill and we left knowing this was not the place for us. It was my wife's birthday and she got to pick the restaurant and unfortunately picked St. Augustine Fish House. Since I have not been to this relatively new restaurant, make over of an older place, I did not disagree and that was a mistake. We sat out by the water, not outside but over the water. The first thing I noticed were the plastic wicker chairs, they were falling apart, literally. My chair had several feet of plastic "wicker" cords falling from the chair to the ground. I sat down and felt like I was going to fall through. I went to get another chair but they were all like that. Warning to the owners, you are going to have law suit when someone gets hurt from tripping or falling through these death traps. The waitress came and we put in our drink and appetizer order. I did notice a change from the online menu and the menu that was handed to us. There are many more "MKT" price entrees then what is on their website and on google or yelp. Example, $20 on their website menu and MKT price $25 for the lobster roll. The Food: Hush puppy appetizer, good texture but no flavor over a pancake blubbery reduction, just OK. Fried green tomato appetizer was the only good part of the meal. Fish tacos, everything was sweet, like Sweet'N low sweet, off taste and way to sweet, only part I ate was the fish. Lobster roll, lots of roll. Snow crab, lets just say on par with Winn-Dixie. $160 and not a single person out of four said anything about the quality, taste, or overall pleasure they had at this restaurant. On the plus side, we enjoyed counting the roaches/palmetto bugs sticking their faces up between the spaces in-between the wood flooring. Have been a couple of times now and really like the food. I recommend their fried green Tomatoes, southern oysters and deviled egg appetizers. Sorry no pics this go round. Staff is always great. They have a wonderful patio in the water, but be prepared for a long wait as they will not take reservations for those tables, 1st come 1st served. We are hoping to time a visit where we can enjoy a sunset meal. Did I mention they have a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows? They do!! Can't wait to do that as well when we get to the patio. On 4/3/2023 I took my family here to celebrate my birthday which I made reservations. I have to say it was one of my worse experiences I have had. First it took almost 15 minutes to get our beverages, than 20 minutes to get our appetizers which we had to ask for, in addition asking for plates and sauce. Than took almost an hour to receive our dinner. My wife ordered the Tacos which was cold, my daughters crab labs were over cooked so not edible. My wife also had to ask for a fork three times till she received one. Many people standing around - no one helping each other. One table who sat next to us had to ask for a server to take their order. Another table of 8 received their food before us and came in 30 minutes later. Than the manager yelled at my wife for no reason. Who does this! My wife was so taken back. Afterwards we found out my daughter by accident dripped her beer on the floor because of the way she was holding it as she followed her mom to the front door. I am Very disappointed by the actions of the manager and the service. We found the manager was belligerent and not accountable for the situation. All she had to tell us was the issues she was having which was basically excuses for bad service. Our food was comped which as a good thing. We will not recommend this place to anyone. As a customer we don't want to hear excuses - just want the food we ordered - hot. This was by far my worse experience- thank you for me to have a horrible birthday experience! read more

4 of us went to dinner on a Wednesday night. The special was oysters for $0.75 each- raw or steamed served with spicy cocktail sauce, saltine crackers, what appeared to be fresh grated horseradish with hot sauce on the table. Both were excellent. We also got the Calamari appetizer that was a little expensive at $16.95 but it was a large portion served with cold marinara . Which I thought was weird and had mine with cocktail sauce and a mix of ranch and cocktail sauce mix. Two people had the honey glazed salmon and said it was cooked to perfection. I stole a hush puppy and it was the BEST hush puppy I've ever eaten! The two sides served with their dinner were large and tasty and there were several to choose from. Dinner for 4 came to $100.00 without alcohol but a $10 take home dessert included. We sat out on the deck with a huge gas fire in the middle. The menu said that you could request marshmallows to roast over the fire so we did They came two to a skewer on a plate with chocolate sauce decorating it. We had fun roasting them together. I'm not sure it would be safe for kids to roast their own due to the short skewers. Check their website for M-TH specials like $10 a pound for crab legs with the purchase of an appetizer and another night for a whole Maine lobster with 2 sides for $20! OK. I know restaurants have issues with servers and kitchen. I get it. But I have to wonder if it's in their best interest to seat people and then it it takes an hour to get food. We were not the only ones and it was a Wednesday nite. That is part of the lower rating. The food was good. It was hot when served. I had the catch of the day and other diner had oysters on the shell. Someone had a heavy hand with salt so green beans weren't the best. Fish chowder was excellent and salads were very good. My fish was done really good but a little heavy on seasoning. Parking is a bit of a challenge but overall it's a really nice place. Our server was excellent. Let me start off by saying I typically give a business few try's because I know occasionally they can have a bad day/night. I frequent the OP Fish House in Orange Park area so I know that the owners of the St Augustine restaurant are one and the same so they have the know how. The place is beautiful. Inside and outside We had out of town guest and I suggested this restaurant because I know how good the food is at the one in Orange Park. We got there a little before 6 PM. Party of 8. Wa told to expect an hour to hour a few minutes wait. After the hour wait, we started going to hostess station and asking what delay was. They said they were waiting on tables to open. Where we stood, outside on deck, we watched a large table that could accommodate our party sit empty for 30 minutes We saw another 6 top table, 2 - 4 top tables sitting empty for 15 to 20 minutes Not sure what the issue was with the empty tables whilst having so many people on waiting list After and hour and 30 or 45 minutes they sat us down outside. We waited about 15 minutes and no one came to ask us what we would like to eat or drink. I went up to hostess station and asked if they could move us because it was cold out there (no heaters anywhere) and because no one was helping us. She said she would make sure someone came soon. Finally someone came. Took our drink, appetizer and dinner order 10 minutes later came over to tell us they didn't have Miller Lite beer that someone had ordered Didn't bring any other of the ordered drinks with her though. About 20 minutes later one of the 2 appetizers came out. Still no drinks though. We had no silverware. So I went up to hostess station and asked for silverware for our table. She didn't have any but said she'd get us some. She came back little later and said she dropped it off at our table. I sat back down had my appetizer. Was glad that at least we had gotten water but still no beverages that we had ordered and my husband didn't have his appetizer yet either. Our food arrives in bits and pieces. Some people got their meals. Some didn't. Some got part of their sides. Others didn't. Still no beverages from the bar and our other appetizers but we were finally getting somewhere because we were getting our meals. 3 of us got the lobster rolls. It was basically a soggy hot dog bun with a little bit of lobster in it Didn't even fill up bun. Forgot to take pictures. The lobster roll was full of shells so difficult to eat. One person had the pork chop but only butter knife to cut it No sign of waitress until about 10 minutes into the meal and finally our bar beverages have arrived. We told her the issues and that one person in our party had ordered the ahi tuna dinner and still hasn't gotten it and we hadn't received our appetizers yet She apologized and got the items brought out. The oyster appetizer was wrong Finally finishing and had to wait on our bills. We know this wasn't the waitress fault and we all felt sorry for her. This is poor management and if the waitress stays there, she's a saint!!! read more
