I have been coming here since the place opened. The owners, Chad and Trish , do everything in their power to make sure you are satisfied with your meal and your over all experience here. I have had several different menu items and all have been fantastic. The wait staff works very hard and it shows. On Thursdays, they always have entertainment and there's corn hole tournaments and and a Texas Hold-Em league which is growing every week thanks to Chad and Trish's advertising in Hometown Magazine. They play every Thursday at 6:30pm and 8:30pm and Sundays starting at 3:00pm. Saturdays are really busy so go early. There are several T.V.'s at the bar with sports galore on all the time. So if you like your sports, sit and enjoy a game. I highly recommend coming in for a boil, flat breads, are the slightly spicy rice bowls. Mmmm. Bear. read more

Don't even waist your time! Unless you just want alcohol...the food was the WORST food I've ever had in Crystal River! This is a newer restaurant and I was excited to try it. I had gone prior when it was Claw Daddy's. The fixed the inside up nice and the service was spot on but the FOOD was HORRIBLE! We ordered the Lobster Roll - mushy, frozen and made the roll soggy! I ordered the steak Baja Tacos. When I asked to get it cooked rare/med rare the waitress just looked at me. She said I don't think they do that...I should have known then to change my order (or pass completely on any food). When it came you could tell the meat was precooked prior to any orders (meat that takes less than 3 mins to cook when cut that size) and it tasted like it sat under heat lamps until an order was placed. Tough and dry! My granddaughter ordered a quesadilla and wouldn't even eat it and she LOVES them! She ate her fries and we ended up having to stop and get her something else to eat later. My son ordered Conch Fritters and they came out almost burnt and ALL FILLER he wouldn't eat them and he eats everything (even choked down that mushy Lobster Roll). I sent back the fritters. Save your money...I really don't get how you can serve FROZEN EVERYTHING when you are in the middle of the freshest seafood in the world! read more

We have stopped in here a few times now and are always pleased with our food, drinks, and service. On this most recent visit, we had a friend visiting from out of state and he owns a large and successful sports restaurant in Oregon. Our friend is very selective in his food choices and isn't easily impressed but he loved his seafood boil as well as the oysters my husband ordered and we both loved the shrip pesto flatbread that I ordered. Four stars for what 'could be'. Quality remodel, chill vibe. Noisy, busy on a monday night. $7 for a pint of craft beer. Only IPA was Elysian Space Dust (a Budweiser owned brand). Server was attentive, but took dinner order without writing it down, then took orders from two more tables before entering into register. Ah oh. Forgot one side. Two incorrect sides. Shrimp alfredo dinner was satisfying. Crab cake dinner was tasty. Sadly, shrimp entree came with just 8 shrimp. Side containers were only half full. Overall, it was a negative experience, but all are correctable issues and we wish the best for Boil Yard's future. We will try it again in a month or so. Fingers crossed. read more

Last evening we visited the boil yard for the very first time. Have been curious and finally decided to take a risk. Trust me it was a risk after getting seated, being served a drink we ordered an appetizer. It was lobster bites. It's a good thing we read the name or we would not even know that is until I picked up and put in my mouth and bit down on one of the most nasty, somethings I ever ate. The only thing is I didn't eat it I was shocked enough. I picked up my napkin and put it back in my napkin. The server came about that time when you know if we wanted to order. I explained to her about the food, the lobster bites she just served us. She looked at me as if I had insulted her. Which I could have but I didn't. She didn't make the meal. She said she'd go talk to her manager. She came back and said the manager said there'd been no other compliance, so he didn't think it was bad, are you kidding me? What does someone have to do die or have stomach poisoning? She ask I'd like to speak to the manager and I said yes I would love to speak to the manager. She came back and told me the manager would be over soon. It's time to pass by, I realize we've been waiting over seven minutes for the manager to come over to explain to a customer that he was sorry that it was a once in a lifetime thing I don't know what manager say when they have to explain how someone got hold of a bad lobster bite.so needless to say we came home after an hour or so we had a grilled cheese. Because it took that long for the smell and taste to get out of my mouth. I'm warning you run from the lobster bites never again. read more

Went to The Boil Yard today for a quick bite and it's so unfortunate that we have a local business that has gone downhill so quickly.... I ordered (from the menu) bay scallops.... What came were SUPPOSED TO BE SEA SCALLOPS, if these were any kind of scallop I would be shocked. These were the worst tasting and I cut several in half to just see if the first bite was wrong BUT NO! They were the worst tasting ? Pieces of supposed scallops I have ever put in my mouth. Now to be fare I ate their bay scallops in the past and they were great! I loved them. I also had 6 oysters Rockefeller and they are totally unacceptable, go back to what you did when you opened. This place has the worst seafood I ordered crawfish bake 1lb it came with 2 corn and 2 red potatoes and it sat in a white cream sauce I don't ever remember crawfish bake served this way horrible! My girlfriend ordered a fried red snapper with red potatoes and dirty rice fish was bland with no seasoning 2 small potatoes and dirty rice with CORN! Really? The pasta was swimming in grease, there were only 4 Shrimp in the entire plate and the chicken was obviously not fresh. I kept seeing The Boil Yard advertisements and the online menu looked great. We tried it out and we'll go back to try some other menu items, but we weren't too impressed with the blackened grouper sandwich, and worse was my crab cake. It looked and tasted like mush. There were zero crab flakes and it tasted mostly like the filler. Definitely wouldn't order that again. The fries were great but the French's ketchup didn't taste good. Jodi, our server was great! The food however was superrrrrrrrrrrr disappointing. I ordered a boil with crab, crawfish, shrimp, and muscles. Got a crab that reeked and had black and brown meat. Jodi was great made me feel at ease and got my boil remade, only to get another crab that was spoiled. After over an hour of waiting for edible food I decided to have them just remove the crab and i ate the rest. Mussles was meh, sweet creole sauce was decent. We ordered 12 pieces wings, oct. taco and calamari. Wings are little not fresh enough. The bread-fired calamari was wet and disassemble from calamari when it was served. Waitress was prompt, fairly knowledgeable but kept getting things wrong. Desppite asking twice for our food, I was told it was on its way. Food was grossly overcooked, burger asked for rare, got shoe leather brown and friends chicken in the sandwich was rock hard. Appetizer was tasteless and greasy. To start our experience we were greeted by an young lady who offered us children's menus for our 4 kids only to find out although the menus have activities there are no crayons to do them with. Once seated our server came over and took our drink orders and darted away before I could order the appetizer. Upon her return she stuck her finger in one of the kids drinks and handed it to them anyways and once again went to dart away. I stopped her because we had some questions on the menu and also wanted to order the appetizer. She returned about 5 minutes later and we ordered the Soft Shell Crab dinner, The pork chop'S dinner and the kids food. This is when we found out that the side salads were an extra $5 with the already $15 and $28 dinners but we opted to get the salad anyways because we were still hoping it would be good. My daughters pizza was burnt, on of my pork chop'S must have fallen off the plate because there was only one there upon arrival. The only plate the even looked right was my wife's. My daughter took one bite and told us she did not like it but hey it's a seafood place not a kids pizza place. I took bite one of my remaining pork chop and choked on the charred taste thinking maybe I got a piece of burnt fat or something I went in for a second bite this time making sure it was in fact not burnt and again the taste was horrible. All this before the server could come back to ask how it was so once I saw her again I handed her my card and asked for a box because the crab was not awful and my wife was hungry. She did not even look down or break her stride as she ran off to charge my card. When she returned and asked how everything was I pointed to our plates and asked her what she thought. I was then told I should have told her. I replied if you had only looked you should have known. This is not even the worse part. Since I suffer from sever PTSD and don't handle conflicts in a socially accepting manor I opted to leave and call the manager to let him know hopping that we could save someone else from the same experience. The owner came to the phone and when I told him I just wanted to tell him about our experience he proceeded to offer me free food and would not stop talking long enough to listen to my story about the service. I recently went to the Boil Yard. Was a total let down. My wife and I decided to go there instead of Cody's, big mistake. When we sat down at a table near the bar it took about 5 minutes for a waitress to bring us a menu and take our drink order. Another waitress brought out beers, both in a bottle, were barely cold enough to drink. We ordered the Calamari, it was ok but was served with marinanra sauce, not a good combination. My wife ordered the seafood pasta, the shrimp and scallops were way overcooked and tough, it also looked like it had about 2-3 sticks of butter melted on top of the pasta, I took one bite and could not eat anymore of it, she choked a fair amount of it down, she was starving and had not eaten all day, it was around 4:00pm, she still feels terrible 4 hours later after eating there. I ordered the boneless hot wings, had a really bad flavor to them, I ate 3-4 of the small ones, I had ordered 12 of them. Also, the waitress did not bring silverware, I had to go to the bar to ask for it. She also did not bother to ask if we wanted another beer until we were ready to leave, was empty for about 10 minutes. It was obvious we were not too pleased with our food and she asked if we wanted to go boxes, we obviously decided. She did not ask if the food was ok or if there was a problem, she could have cared less. Long story short, don't waste your time or money at this place. If you want good service and food there are plenty of better options in Crystal River and Homosassa. read more
