HOWEVER, I will say the last few times I've went some area had lacked whether it was customer service, cold/lukewarm food, or extremely long wait times and no way to join the waitlist prior. Today was another example of poor quality within the food. The eggs showed in the photo were absolutely days old and tasted disgusting. This was highly disappointing considering the fact that the price was $5 for three. Secondly my husbands sauce that he got was cold the first time they brought it out, he spoke up they "remade" it and brought it out again only for it to be the same temperature as before. I love hot n juicy too don't get me wrong but boiling crab has a special place in my heart. When you get the choose the seasoning there is an option to get it an everything at once and I'd say that is a must for all the food. Shrimp and crab was fire. Then the deep fried oysters took me out. The only note I'd made is to step it up with the micheladas but I feel like it's honestly whoever makes them lol no biggie tho. Interior is fun. I went here with some friends and had my heart set on crawfish and mussels. I have a minor allergy specifically to crab and shrimp, so I try to avoid those items whenever possible. Since I know that some seafood boils prepare different types of shellfish in the same pot, I asked our server if my food could be prepared separately from any crab or shrimp. She assured me that this was absolutely possible and said she would make a note of it on our order. About 20 minutes later, our server came back and told me that the crawfish could not be prepared in a separate pot because it is cooked in the same water as the shrimp and crab. Since she specifically mentioned the crawfish, I was under the impression that I would still be receiving my mussels. Another 20 minutes passed, and all of my friends had received their food while I was still waiting. We asked our server for an update, and she told us that she thought I had canceled my entire order because the mussels are also cooked in the same water as the crab and shrimp. This was frustrating because when she initially came back to explain that the accommodation could not be made, she only mentioned the crawfish. Had I been told that the mussels were also prepared in the same water and that my entire order would need to be changed or canceled, I would have been more than happy to choose something else. Instead, I waited another 20 minutes without realizing that my order had effectively been canceled. I completely understand that not every restaurant can accommodate a specific allergy request, and I don't expect them to. In fact, I've been to other seafood boil restaurants and have never had an issue understanding what can and cannot be prepared separately. My main concern here was the lack of clear communication. Overall, I think the restaurant could really benefit from better communication between the kitchen and servers, as well as clearer communication with customers about what accommodations are and aren't possible. I've eaten at The Boiling Crab for years and have always loved it, but after this visit, things have definitely changed. Before, you could select the type of seafood you wanted and then choose to get the shrimp, potatoes, clams, corn, and mussels all together as part of the boil. Now, everything is sold à la carte by the pound, which makes the meal much more expensive and it's just way too much food. This honestly, takes away from the whole experience. We checked in with Yelp 45 minutes ahead of time I think that's the only way to get into this restaurant at a reasonable amount of time. The seafood boil was delicious. My only complaint is that the shrimp is not deveined and when you get the shell off, it's pretty mushy other than that...Everything else was great for a family of seven. We spent just over $200 but we only needed to make one bag for the family. The kids that didn't eat seafood ate chicken nuggets and fries.
