Called a week in advance to see if I could make a reservation for 11 people on a Saturday at 4 PM. They don't take reservations, but they were very helpful and let me know to call the same day to be added to the waitlist, then call again about an hour before to confirm our full party would be showing up. The inside does feel pretty crowded at first, but once you get toward the back of the restaurant it opens up more and feels much more spacious. They have larger tables for groups as well as smaller tables for parties of four. Customer service was great and the food started coming out almost immediately after we ordered. Ordering was a little overwhelming in the beginning just because there are so many options and we ended up trying almost everything on the menu. Our group isn't big on pork, so we mostly stuck with the beef selections. The tomahawk was definitely the favorite of the night....everyone at the table really enjoyed it. Dragon Factory owns so many spots in town that they have become the barometer for sushi and KBBQ, and this one still hits for both consistency and quality. Forget the hushed, label-driven rooms chasing A5 Wagyu bragging rights. Hwaro 2 is loud, smoky, and alive with the sound of meat hitting hot grills. You smell fat caramelizing, hear pork belly pop and hiss, and the table crowds with dishes until there is hardly room left for your soju. This is the heartbeat of KBBQ, not the showroom. Once the brisket round is done, the premium steak and tomahawk are the move. Pork belly brings richness, short ribs hit that sweet-salty note, and the bulgogi is the guilty sticky-sweet pleasure that sneaks in no matter how focused you are on the "serious" cuts. Seafood holds up, sides stay sharp, and the pro move is specifying to your server that you only want one or two orders of the larger cuts at a time so they hit the grill fresh and nothing goes to waste. The crew hustles, but management does not staff enough people on the floor. Servers and bussers do everything they can, so tip them well. Food was fine but service was a little lackluster. We had to ask for our grill to be changed every single time, and the portion sizes were a bit ridiculous for our table size. The atmosphere is also kinda meh compared to the main location. Corn cheese is my favorite here and their bulgogi is pretty good too. House salad, fries, brisket, and spicy pork were all very good. I also loved the brownie with ice cream as a dessert option. I wish the meal came with the typical Korean side dishes that other spots serve. To our surprise, the server charged us for 6 people when we had 5, most likely to hit us with the auto gratuity charge. It wasn't a huge issue, but the cashier had to point us to us that we were being charged for an extra person. Overall, Hwaro is a good choice, especially for their late night deal. This location was my first time trying Korean bbq and I was hooked! There is so much value and the food was so flavorful. My favorite was the brisket and the ribeye! It's fun to basically grill your own meats and veggies! This location has mochi and rice paper but does not have sushi. Service is pretty great - Xavier took care of us and he was super attentive and prompt whenever it came to grill changes. Walking in, you may have to wait for a bit, however another great thing about Hwaro 2 is that you're able to place yourself on the wait-list through the app! As for the only critical thing I have to say and the only reason Hwaro 2 doesn't get a full 5 stars -- the first grill on our table was not the cleanest as brown bubbles (yes, brown bubbles) started forming inside the grill holes when they turned on the burner, however after replacement everything else was great. After a small wait, we were sat at a nice table that was preset with some side dishes. The service was okay, it really seemed like our server just didn't care. She checked up on us a few times, but consistently forgot some of our items. Unfortunately, the service is not something I'd return for. The food, on the other hand was really good. The brisket was really tender. The Hwaro sauce was the perfect pairing for the meat. They also had a nice selection of appetizers and side dishes too. I think my favorite was the Japchae. I really hate having to write this review, but our experience was incredibly disappointing and honestly hurtful. My partner and I came in looking forward to a nice dinner. We were the only Latino couple in the restaurant, and from the start, we felt ignored. Our server barely checked on us. At one point, our grill was completely off and we had to wait until another server happened to notice and fix it. Our own server never came back to check on us. We also ran out of soda and were never offered refills. We ended up drinking water out of our dirty soda cups because no one came back to the table. We were not rude, we were patient, and we tried to give the benefit of the doubt but it became impossible not to notice the difference in how we were being treated. 50 minutes sitting down without being checked on even once. I actually had to step outside to the car because I was so overwhelmed that I started crying. We came in excited to enjoy a meal, and instead left feeling ignored and unwelcome. I even wrote on the receipt asking if there was a reason we were treated this way, because I genuinely don't understand what we did to deserve that level of service. I hope management takes this seriously. No one should leave a restaurant feeling the way we did. read more
