Everyone was extremely helpful and made sure we were attended to all times. I really appreciated how beautifully decorated the space was, it really gave a "New Orleans vibe". They also have a ton of patio seating along with indoor seating upstairs and downstairs and a full bar that allows for at least 10 guest of more. I also appreciated the small touches of things added that add to the "new Orleans" feel. This is a place that I would highly recommend for brunch, they also have live jazz on Sundays(another good excuse to come) The smoked chicken gumbo was amazing! The rue tasted like it had been cooking for hours and the grits were creamy and cooked perfectly. The bread service is also a MUST try, those biscuits were heaven! There was a small amount of butter and honey that they put in the middle and it pairs so well with all of the items. Another honorable mention was the banana bread, it was so light yet moist and there was a small amount of powdered sugar dusted along the top which was also great. They're from southern Louisiana, and seem to get invited to cater many of their events. They had jambalaya, corn maque choux, and boudin links. Because I was waiting on live boiled crawfish from another vendor, I decided to just share a link of boudin for $5. Their young boy said after I ordered, "Sure! You have to ring the boudin bell!" So I did, while his mother laughed and wrapped up a link for me. She made sure I knew how to eat it (I did), and I asked her if it was spicy or not (she said not at all...probably due to the DC clientele...but that they were good and that they shipped them straight from Louisiana). They also had an assortment of mild Cajun seasonings and hot sauces. It was not the best boudin I've ever had (that one goes to the Boudin King in Louisiana), but it was slightly better than the boudin I can get at the grocery store in Texas (but bigger). The Jambalaya Shack's also had good amounts of little liver pieces in it. I wish I had had hotter seasonings (cayenne chile powder would have been awesome) to spice it up with... I wish I had also tried their namesake jambalaya, but it was the chicken/sausage variety and other than the boudin, I was in the mood for seafood. I do think I was the only person I saw at the festival that tried the boudin (or probably knew what it was). Speaking of seafood, the other caterer's boiled crawfish was bland, and Jambalaya Shack was nice enough to let us have some of their seasonings. They saved the day.

My recent visit to Boiling Crab was a mixed experience. The restaurant itself was clean and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable atmosphere. The food was decent overall--nothing extraordinary, but satisfying enough. However, the standout item was definitely the fries; they were absolutely out of this world--crispy, perfectly seasoned, and easily the highlight of the meal. That said, the service was extremely slow, which did put a damper on the experience. Despite the friendly staff, the wait times for both seating and food were longer than expected despite being only customer there. I've…read moreheard so many amazing things about the food, but what I didn't hear enough about was the customer service these young men provide. From the moment I walked in, both brothers greeted me. I was on the phone, so I know I probably seemed a little distracted , but they still spoke to me and engaged with me while I looked over the menu. I asked Tre about the green beans, and he actually let me taste them before ordering! He also explained what was in them because I don't eat meat. And y'all...those green beans were DELICIOUS! I absolutely loved the energy of both brothers. They're inviting, funny, friendly, and welcoming while still remaining professional. I also noticed how respectful they were to every customer who came through the door, and that says a lot! They take feedback very well! Tre asked did I like the food and I wanted my honest review. There's plenty of seating inside, and the restaurant is very clean. I sat down and enjoyed the whole red snapper with green beans, and my total was only $26 and some change. The food was SPECTACULAR! They have a fish special on Fridays and a combo special on Wednesdays, but honestly, their food is already very affordable. If you're in the area, GO SUPPORT THESE YOUNG MEN! I'll definitely be back!

We were not disappointed! The happy hour menu definitely delivers. We tried the Quiet Crab, chicken sandwich, shrimp with mumbo sauce, and fries. The Quiet Crab was the star of the food lineup. Absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, the happy hour portion only comes with one because I definitely could have eaten more! I would also love to see a basket of regular hush puppies on the menu because they absolutely nailed that combination of sweet corn flavor and a crispy outside. And the music? Sultry, sexy, and exactly right for the space. The playlist was giving Afrobeats, smooth vibes, and grown-up happy hour with tracks like Burna Boy's "Vanilla," Tems' "Ordinary People," Asake's "Organise," JayO's "High Heels," and "Wahala Riddim." It added so much to the atmosphere and made this the kind of place where you want to settle in, order another drink, and stay awhile. Now, the Beltway Mule made by Kennedy was THE star of the evening. Delicious, perfectly sweet with just the right amount of spice, and very fitting for my hometown of Washington, DC. Speaking of Kennedy, she is an absolute gem! Her energy and mixology skills really made the experience. If you can pull up when she's behind the bar, I highly recommend it. He's also a sommelier, so he personally poured and explained our wine, which was a nice touch. The chicken and salad we were served were actually pretty good. But after some of the disappointing dishes at the previous tour stops, I honestly found myself wondering...was it really that good, or was it just better than what I'd already been eating all day? Either way, I cleaned my plate. The space, however, is TINY--both upstairs and downstairs. The outdoor dining and bar area is much larger and definitely seems like the better option when the weather cooperates. And listen...after a full food tour, I absolutely HATED climbing those stairs! It also made me wonder how guests with mobility challenges are expected to navigate this space. Seriously...how are some of these restaurants accommodating ADA accessibility? On a positive note, the bathrooms were nice and well maintained. Would I return? Maybe...I'm not exactly rushing back, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

Everett was friendly and made great drinks! We got seated downstairs. It was noticeablely warm and we mentioned it to the manager. They said they were working on it but it never got any cooler. Restaurant Week was extended so we were able to take advantage of that. It was a good deal with upcharges for bigger cuts of steak. The sides are not included but they're large enough to share. I got the 6 oz filet, medium and it was perfect. The warm butter cake was delicious. The pomegranate martini with the dry ice added for dramatic effect was a popular cocktail at our table. Our server was great! Minus the warm temperature, everyone had a great time. I found street parking but valet is available. I would visit Mastro's again but maybe not downstairs.

At one point, he came to our table and explained that there were other people celebrating their birthdays and that he was busy attending to them. I understand that restaurants get busy, but telling a customer that other birthday celebrations are taking priority is not appropriate. He knew it was my birthday as well and even apologized for "ruining" it by mentioning this. It was an incredibly strange way to address his lack of attentiveness. When our food arrived, the server did not promptly come to plate our food. We eventually plated it ourselves, and only afterward did he come over and say that he had been planning to come plate it for us. At that point, the service had already been missed. There were also multiple staff members assisting with service, which made the lack of coordination even more noticeable. The kitchen was quite slow as well, and the garlic mashed potatoes were cold by the time we were eating our steaks. There were also clumps of mashed potatoes left on the table, which our server picked up with his bare hands. These may sound like small details individually, but together they made the service feel surprisingly ordinary for the setting. The food itself was the highlight. The filet was very well seasoned, the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent despite the temperature issue, and the signature warm butter cake with ice cream was phenomenal. My dining companion said his filet was the best filet he had ever had. I also found the dress-code enforcement somewhat inconsistent. I had made an effort to dress appropriately for the occasion, and my dining companion did as well, but I noticed another guest being admitted in denim shorts. My dining companion independently commented on how people were dressed, so this wasn't something I was looking for--it was simply noticeable. Ultimately, I would return for the food, but I hope the service is substantially better next time. This was my birthday dinner, and unfortunately the service did not make the occasion feel particularly special.

I started at the bar while awaiting the rest of my party. I enjoyed a glass of brut rose and complimentary popcorn. The popcorn is nothing short of amazing! The bar staff couldn't be friendlier and accommodating. When transitioning to dinner, I left to an intimate environment where our server was attentive and humorous. I had an opportunity to introduce some and reacquaint others with why OCEAN PRIME is one of the best restaurants for service, food, and cocktails. When we arrived, not only did we have an amazing greeting from staff who gave us every impression that we were the most important people in the restaurant. Our server was beyond top-notch. Tiana set the standard for how a server should engage thoughtfully and helpfully. We had the iconic berries and bubbles, black, orchid cocktails, glasses of wine, and, of course, the goat cheese ravioli. For main entrées, we had an amazing special of lobster and scallop risotto, and Ribeye steaks, both Oscar-style and plain. Our side items were the jalapeño, gratin, potatoes, lobster, mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and broccoli. The pace of service was perfect. We had plenty of time to enjoy the cocktails, appetizers, and dinner. The food came out extremely well seasoned, hot, and to everyone's liking. The general manager, Tim, took time to come by the table to make sure everything was going well and really put the icing on the cake by ensuring our entire experience lived up to the Cameron Mitchell brand. I ordered a Jerk Chicken bowl with Lo Mein noodles, and a few veggie toppings. The plantain was too overcooked on the outside, and slightly undercooked on the inside. So whomever cooked it, the heat was up too high because it blackened the plantain too fast. They should be golden, not charred. The Mac and cheese was absolutely phenomenal. I think they make it with smoked gouda?? I don't know, but whatever the secret ingredient is, it was amazing. The lady that made my bowl was friendly. If I'm around DuPont Circle again, and don't feel like cooking, I will return.
