I went with a regular, but it was my first time. I absolutely loved the vegan Reuben--it was one of the best I've ever had! I hope to come back for breakfast sometime.

Really good breakfast/kombucha spot in Hilo. I especially love the local knickknacks at the front when you walk in. Cute logos, nice stickers, and good kombucha. Lots of flavors to choose from. We got there at 10:45 - breakfast ends at 11. I got the grilled fish omelette; it was fresh and flavorful! I loved the purple sweet potatoes on the side and pineapple salsa as well. It was bright and well balanced. They did however run out of GF bread. My boyfriend got the breakfast Sammy, it was a large portion, lots of pesto and kimchi on it. He couldn't eat the whole thing but thoroughly enjoyed it. You bus your own table but they bring the food to you. Friendly staff and service was great :)

Our hotel had samples of their kombucha and told us about their restaurant so we checked it out. Tried the flights and have been buying their bottles every day on the island. We also tried the grilled fish tacos and those were delicious. Definitely give them a try.

Great service, vibe and food! Had their brunch, delicious and unique! Red rice and blacken seared marlin in their bibin bop, goat cheese in a moist cheesie mushroom omelette and delicious crisp hueavos ranchero. Good drinks...mactha latte, chai latte and double espresso. Definitely would come back.

So...this was good food, but kind of overrated. The catch of the day was pretty small, my boyfriend had more beans than fish! Also there was supposed to be a fruit bowl, was that the slice of fruit on the side or the pineapple salsa looking stuff? rancheros was fine, I did really like the pickled japapenos. This place is def cool for the kombucha variety and good flight deals, but the food left me wanting more

I fell in love with Big Island Booch from the six-pack I purchased at Costco, and I knew I had to come try it at its source. It is truly a booch lover's paradise. I will never forget the root booch, an almost unholy but scintillating combination of two of my favorite beverages of all time. What surprised me was the quality of the food. The burger was absolutely delicious. Local grass-fed beef definitely helps, but every ingredient was balanced perfectly, and the hot sauces were a perfect complement (I had to buy two bottles of Third Eye Opener on my way out!).

What a cute place to hang out and grab some dessert after a long day at the beach. The vibe was very chill. Loved the music that they were playing. Ordered a gelato, chocolate, flavored, chocolate, flavored cheesecake, and a chocolate brownie, and a little lilikoy kombucha. Everything was vegan and delicious, Service was quick and friendly, and the ambience was very chill on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend it!

Yummy, !!! Fresh made hummus yes please! Then on top of that kombucha flight, this girl is happy!!! So good so fresh. The kombucha is amazing. We tried all eight they had today and LOVED them until the last drop. I would be here like every week if this place was close to home. Hilo residents are super lucky! Eclectic, fun, upbeat, ambience. Friendly chill service. Had a great experience here. I will be back next I come back to see my cousin!!! Don't pass this place up.

When I say, get the kombucha flight, don't think twice! We got all eight tasters and wow! Top three: root beer, ginger and honey (seasonal)! Don't stop there. Order the hummus! It's fresh! I would recommend the kettle chips because the blue corn tortillas overpower the hummus. The hostess was kind and friendly! Tons of seating - booths, tables and high tables! Along with outside seating. I'll be back to try more of their menu! I don't think you can go wrong stopping here after a beach day!

The Booch Bar - Delicious Food, Great Kombucha, and Chill Vibes The Booch Bar in Hilo is a gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt inviting and relaxed. The space was clean and had great energy, with a mix of modern touches and funky, expressive art. They also had a cool selection of merch available if you're into that sort of thing. Kombucha Flight As a big fan of kombucha, this place was perfect for me. They offered several options on tap, and we went with a flight so we could try a few. The bartender/server was incredibly thoughtful and took the time to guide us through the flavors, helping us choose a nice variety. We ended up trying the root beer, lilikoi hibiscus, and ginger kombuchas. The root beer and ginger were standouts -- bold, flavorful, and refreshing. The lilikoi hibiscus was much lighter in flavor, as expected, but still enjoyable. I appreciated being able to try a range of flavor profiles in one go. Food We ordered the cheeseburger and the fish burger. The cheeseburger was excellent -- juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Easily one of the best I've had. My only small critique is that it was a bit too big, which made it hard to eat without making a mess. Personally, I prefer burgers that are more manageable in size, but flavor-wise, it was spot on. The fish burger was also fantastic. Perfectly cooked, balanced, and served in just the right portion. My fiancée really enjoyed it, and I'd absolutely recommend it. Other Notes The place felt clean, including the bathrooms, which is always a plus. The artwork was a bit quirky and not totally my style -- think chakras and interpretive dance -- but hey, art is subjective. If that's your vibe, you'll love it. If not, just focus on the kombucha and the food, because both are worth it. Final Thoughts I'd give The Booch Bar a strong 4.5 out of 5 stars. Great drinks, thoughtful service, delicious food, and a fun, relaxed environment. I'd definitely go back -- especially for another kombucha flight and that fish burger.

The Booch Bar is a fun, casual place to eat. It is order-at-the-counter but provides a very comfortable and elegant ambiance to pair with that. FOOD: I ordered a salad and a beer. The salad was above-average. PRICE: the booch bar is slightly pricier than other order-at-the-counter establishments ($30ish per person maybe) but still offers good value for this price with the atmosphere. PARKING: I parked on the street 2 blocks away. It wasn't too difficult to find a spot those there weren't so many open. AMBIANCE: the silverware, plates, tables, etc are all upscale and help to make Booch Bar feel fancy despite being order-at-the-counter.

I had the Hawaiian Mushroom Omelette with Sweet Potato and my husband had the Grilled Wild Hawaiian Fish with Toast. Highly recommended. We love the live music while eating breakfast. Im giving 4 stars only because we had to clean the table ourselves. 15% tip given to the food server.

What a great find! The food is excellent, as is the booch; however, the service was a little lacking. It was busy on a Thursday afternoon and there were some locals chatting with the person that seemed like the manager or owner, who was rather short with me. I ordered for my family and, as a former chef, like to ask about the server's favorites and get recommendations which was not the route to go with this place. I look for gluten free wherever I go and there were multiple options here. I ended up ordering the fish tacos, which were truly delicious, my mom got the Veg Head and my step dad the fishwich- both were reported as excellent, too. It was a great atmosphere and everyone else seemed super cool and laid back; so I'm not sure what the issue was with the person who took my order, but it felt like my family and I weren't welcome. If the person hadn't been chatting it up with the large group ahead of us, I'd chalk it up to a bad day, but his mood definitely changed when I stepped up. read more

Though they serve meat they do have some of the best vegan options on da island. The BLTA (Tempeh sandwhich on sourdough) is really good. They also have vegan tacos and taco salad made with lentil and walnut tacomeat. Really good Kombucha too. The location is in a busy area and paking can be difficult at times. read more

Look, I rarely leave reviews. This place was gross. Maybe it's because I hail from San Diego and have a different palate? We had the coconut curry cauliflower, the jerk chicken sandwich thing, and a burger. Everything tasted like sour mayonnaise. Everything. How do you fuck up a burger? My wife seemed fine with her food, but the other 3 adults at the table all tried to hide their mutual disgust for the first 15 minutes of the meal. I really really wanted to like this place and genuinely don't understand the other reviews. Proceed at your own risk. read more

Amazing place, never thought I'd like "healthy" type of dishes. So glad i went out of my comfort zone. Got a mushroom bimbambap, mushroom omlet, and kambucha bowl. Everything was delicious, and their sweet potatoe fries are amazing. Street parking only. Self seated spot, order at the bar and they will bring it to you. Happily surprised! I expected a far less pleasant experience here than the one I received. Not a fan of the 'booch (kombucha). Not a fan of vegan cuisine, either. Fortunately, The Booch Bar compensates for "conscious omnivores" like myself, my wife, and our friend, who brought us here, to one of her favorite restaurants in Hilo. Between the three of us, we shared the Booch Bar Burger and some Blackened Fish Tacos. My wife tacked on a glass of the Root Beer Booch from the special menu, which definitely lived up to its namesake: even I enjoyed a couple sips of it, before the boochy aftertaste started to make it unpalatable for me. Hey, that's better than nothing. Both the burger and the tacos were fantastic, and the portions were large enough for all of us to leave satisfied, with leftovers to spare, and the lilikoi mustard that came with the burger was transcendant: it elevated everything it touched to a higher level! I looked for a bottle of it for sale on the merch shelves afterward, but didn't see any. I should have asked them where to get it, or if it was made in house, because I will be dreaming of it for a long time to come! The servers were friendly, engaging, and patient...I say patient, because my friend likes to *really* engage with just about everyone, and monopolized a good portion of their time answering questions about the food, their personal lives, life on Hilo, and a half dozen other topics! We spent more time after the meal in conversation than we did ordering, waiting and eating! Don't let appearances, apprehensions or assumptions prevent you from checking out The Booch Bar! Even if you're not a kombucha consumer, you'll no doubt find some incredibly tasty, as well as incredibly satisfying, healthy, and guilt-free (morally, and with regards to your waistline) meal options available within. Everything on the menu here is crafted from locally sourced, sustainable, high quality ingredients, and that in and of itself, it something to be celebrated. read more

This place is a nice cafe located in Hilo. For any fellow kombucha lovers --this is the place to come! Very laid back, nice workers, wild decorations, hippie cool vibes. I really liked the lilikoi and ginger kombucha! I didn't like the other 2 flavors and It was definitely on the mild side for kombucha. The sampler was a great way to taste them all though. This is an order-at-the-counter place w/ a coffee house vibe. (although they do bring the food to your table, you both order at the counter and then you bus your own dishes when you are done). We went here for breakfast, and I got a kombucha smoothie and the blackened fish omelet. The smoothie was delicious, and is definitely recommended. As for the fish omelet, although it sounded great on paper in reality it tasted pretty blah to me; it did taste healthy, but the flavors just didn't do anything for me, and at $20 I was disappointed that it failed to keep me filled up for much of the day. My wife, on the other hand, enjoyed her breakfast here. I personally found Ken's House of Pancakes to provide a much more satisfying breakfast experience. We heard great things about Paul's Place for breakfast, but unfortunately they are closed Sun-Tue (which were the three days that we were in Hilo :( ). read more

Wow! Do not stereotype this place like I did! I thought this was going to be kombucha and snacky "health" food. I was so, so wrong. This is "hippie food" in the most positive interpretation of that term: fresh, bright, and veggie focused with maybe an ingredient or two you don't normally cook with at your house. I am one of their breakfast bowls with blackened fish. Now, let me say on the onset: I am usually opposed to seafood at breakfast. I'm not sure why, maybe I need to examine it with a therapist, but it just seems wrong. I'm also really picky about my fish. I only like certain types. So, I was feeling brave when the only descriptor for this one was "fish". And, the gamble paid off: bigtime! This is some of the best fish I have ever had. I still don't know what kind of fish it was, but it was firm and chewy...almost pork or chicken-like...and perfectly seasoned. It was paired with some eggs that tasted like they had a dash of curry spice, some kimchi, and some wonderful purple sweet potatoes. It was as beautiful as it tasted! Oh, their kombucha is really good too! Don't hesitate, like I did, stop in here ASAP! Why not 5-stars? Our order took forever. When my partner asked them if the order was still coming...they said it was on its way. Then they realized the takeout boxes behind them were our order...and they had just been sitting on the shelf for much of our wait time. So, we ended up eating foot that wasn't piping out, out of disposable containers. read more

If you don't stop here while in Hilo you are missing out! They make their own kombucha, homemade recipe sauces and sides. The sweet purple potato is to die for. Their fresh catch is FRESH and the prices were very reasonable. The music was a vibe and the staff was very friendly. Happy I came by, and you should definitely check it out. read more

I love many things at the Booch bar. Breakfasts are really great but I was very disappointed today with the beet salad. They need to call it the candy walnut salad because there's more than a dozen giant sugar candied walnuts, and a couple of beets and the portion is small for $17. Ridiculous! Highly recommend this place for breakfast. read more

My husband and I stayed in Hilo for three nights and we ate at The Booch Bar three times (once for breakfast, once for dinner/dessert, once we got carry out for dinner). Everything was amazing. The waffles and pancakes were great, the brownie was amazing, but my favorite dish was the Vegan BLTA (we got it twice). Service is good and it's in a good location. Great for vegans! read more

If you want a healthy, freshly made meal, and you don't have tons of time, this is the way. I had a Turkey sandwich, and it was delicious! The produce was crisp and fresh, and the sweet potato salad was fantastic and very new to me. Wish I knew of places in my home town that had it! I liked ordering/paying at the counter, finding my own table, and then leaving when I was ready instead of having to wait for a server to bring my check. Customers are good about bussing their own tables, so the place is neat and tidy. One of my family members had the booch flight and loved all of the flavors (I'm not a booch fan, but I really liked them, too). Try this place - it's definitely worth it! read more

This was a nice little spot with a bunch of local stuff to buy. They were able to accommodate our 7 person party no problem. Food was fevers fresh and flavorful. The smoothie bowl is very different and not like and açaí bowl. Food came out quickly and they got very busy. Turkey sandwich was great! Aloha! read more

Unexpected find in Hilo! We had the best mahi we've had anywhere, paired with fresh pickles and an amazing verity of house hot sauces. They also listed gluten free options in the menu, making navigating food allergies easy. The atmosphere was laid back and easy, a great place to wind down for a meal during the day, and the service was fantastic. We'd be regulars if we were local. read more

This place is really quiet and super hip. I was a little disappointed as most of the options of what I wanted in my bowl weren't offered compared to what was on the menu. It was still pretty good. The Booch is yummy my bowl melted quickly and I ate inside. I will come back but I'll probably try something more solid on the menu. They were out of honey, turmeric, and a few other toppings and there were only 2 flavors available for a base compared to what was listed on the board. Again, service itself was good and the food and drink were still good. It gets busy so get in early. I sent some friend there who love kombucha and they were happy with their experience. read more

Booch bar is a cute little place in downtown Hilo. Since parking can be limited we park at Bayfront and walk there. Booch Bar offers a lot of healthy options and are mindful of people's dietary restrictions. There are dairy free, gluten free, nut free, vegan and vegetarian options. I really love that it's inclusive like that. We ordered a French toast, and a smoothie bowl both tasted great. I ordered a caffe latte with the house made cashew nut milk... oh it was so good!! We stopped at this place on our way to the falls and we are so excited we did it was again another absolutely delicious experience we chose this place because the other very popular one was popping and we didn't really want to wait so we headed on down the street to this place. No as a Seattle late I was not phased it very much reminded me of somewhere that I would find in cap Hill. Very much a Seattle place and Seattle vibes. Kombucha and vegan galore. However they had options for us meat eaters and let me tell you they were delicious. I got myself a berry bliss smoothie and I just made one here at home and it was absolutely incredible and I loved it and I am obsessed with it. If you are not making smoothies with kombucha you're doing it wrong; what are you doing with your life. I was OBSESSED with this burger and never in a million years would I myself use goat cheese but hell it changed my world! I also absolutely loved the sweet potato salad it was refreshing it was nice it had really good texture and a really good flavor but it wasn't spicy or anything it was just a really nice refreshing type of potato salad and not too heavy it didn't feel like your typical potato salad and I mean the purple is just freaking cool! We were exploring the area and were drawn into this restaurant! There is a wonderful vibe with cool pieces of art and other healthy trinkets (and oils) displayed. Their food is great and their service is amazing. My daughters and I went there last week braving the lines, then realized after talking to someone that it would be about 20 minutes for a table. I needed to sit down and couldn't wait that long so we left. They tried to set us up with a guy sitting alone who seemed like a daily patron, but we wanted a bigger table and privacy. My two girls were visiting, one from the mainland. While we were walking back to the car across the street and away from The Booch Bar, a guy came running after us saying he had a table. He had gone up to the attic? and brought one down. I wanted to go back because I felt so bad for him and the trouble he went through, but my daughters wanted me out of the sun and into the AC'd car. The events that take place weekly are family friendly and full of talented community musicians and performers from around the world. Septuagenarian took the grandkids here, and we all were happy campers. Good assortment of local brews. The crab cakes, pulled pork sandwich & a huge veggie burrito. This place was brilliant. It was one of the best breakfasts if not the best we had on Big Island and traveled all over it. Service was superb and friendly too. Loved the Smoothie Bowl, French Toast, and Veggie Omelette in particular. Others might be rated better in Hilo but read the menu and look at the pictures as this place is class. read more

This place is a wonderful with excellent food and artisan kombucha that is the BEST I've ever had!! We have been treating ourselves to refills every couple of days and love the Ginger/Turmeric and Lillikoi Lush! Our breakfast was delicious -- creative and artfully plated. Love their concept. Not a fan of kombucha, although I am a fan of healthy food & drink. I thought their food was tasty, thoughtful & nicely plated. The prices were ridiculously high for the portions & that is why I won't be returning. Also, the bathroom, where's the bathroom even located here??! Very confusing. read more

I visited The Booch Bar last weekend and had a great time. The turkey sandwich was exactly what I needed and went well with my Caesar salad; they are both full of flavor. I'm really into their food, even though it is a bit expensive. In short, the food is excellent but does cost more. read more

Picked up food to take to the Naniloa to eat while we watched sunset. It was so good. Big Island makes good food. Fresh, different. Kids liked it. I picked up a bottle of their sauerkraut(sp?). Big Island Booch flavors are so abundant, wild and served in different sizes. Yay. read more

I love that everything is locally grown and the fish was fresh catch of the day. I got the turkey sandwich. The turkey was moist and easy to eat, very flavorful. Got the taco salad, which was also very flavorful and healthy to boot! Everything was delicious and would come again. read more

It is wonderful to have another vegan, healthy option in Hilo that serves delicious food! I had the Blessings Bowl (yummmm... and enough for two meals!) and the vegan raw cacao pie- both delightfully scrumptious! I will be coming here on a regular basis. :) read more

I got a beef burger and Turkey Ruben which were both delicious! Also, the coffee has great flavor and they have a wide choice of options. I would definitely go back though! The menu has many great options. Check this place out! read more
