If heaven opened a restaurant and taught it how to distill , this place would be it. Nestled in the heart of the kind of quaint little town where flower baskets sway from every lamp post and strangers still wave at you from porches, this restaurant and distillery feels less like a business and more like a family The lighting is warm and inviting enough to make everyone look like they've just returned from a European vacation, and the staff somehow manages to be both impossibly professional and genuinely charming. The food? Absurd. Borderline offensive to every other meal I've ever eaten. I ordered one dish and ended up emotionally attached to it. Every bite tasted like a chef looked deep into my soul and said, "I can fix you." The wings and Caesar salad are impeccable. And the town itself? Storybook levels of adorable, tiny boutique shops, tasting rooms and, sweet locals. You half expect a folk band to appear in the square at sunset while someone offers you something. 11/10. I was really torn between whether this was a 3- or 4-star experience. We came in because of the strong reviews and had high expectations, but unfortunately the service was pretty disappointing. We ordered quite a bit of food, including the burger, fish and chips, cauliflower, and chicken wings. To their credit, all of the food was very good. The issue was the service. We waited close to an hour, our water wasn't refilled, and no one checked in to see if we wanted more drinks. The staff hinted a few times that they were understaffed, but it was hard to fully understand given the restaurant wasn't nearly half full. What made it more frustrating was watching a table that arrived 15-20 minutes after us get their food first, including one of the dishes we ordered. Our appetizers also ended up coming out at the same time as our mains, which was disappointing. We probably wouldn't have ordered them had we known. That said, the food really was great. I hope this was just an off night, because the kitchen is clearly doing something special, especially for such a small rural town. But the service made the experience much harder to enjoy, and we were honestly very close to leaving and going somewhere else before the food arrived. read more

We stopped in coming back to SF from Mendocino. We wanted a drink. But when we found out Libby's was back Tuesday-Thursday we had to get a snack. So we ordered the mini nachos. So fresh and delicious we were brought back to all those wonderful meals at Libby's old location. The mini nachos was a good sized bar snack for two people. My wife got a ginger Lemmon drop with their house made vodka. Their vodka is smooth and well crafted. They even have to go bottles. The service at the bar is fast friendly and very capable to make just about anything you throw at them. The place itself is very cool with a big open floor and great view out of the huge back window. read more

The Boonville Distillery is an absolute must-visit! They shockingly weren't busy on a Saturday evening, and our party of 6 got seated right away. The interior was cozy but stylish, with a cool antler chandelier, fireplace, and retro soda fridge. They had a small menu of mocktails, in addition to the extensive drink menu, so I ordered a N/A Mint Julep - super tasty and refreshing! My friends' cocktails were all fantastic, as well. We also ordered some starters to share - the Goat Cheese & Garlic (so good, love the local goat cheese), Brussel Spouts (nice and crispy), and the Stone Fruit Summer Salad (fresh and tasty). Half of the menu was seasonal and didn't match what we'd seen online. I decided on the Seared Tuna and Brisket with Mac & Cheese to share with my friend. The Seared Tuna was incredible - perfectly cooked, not overpowered by the other flavors in the dish. I could truly eat this every day! The Brisket was pretty good, but the decadent Mac & Cheese stole the show for me. I would've loved to try the Brisket Mac & Cheese we'd seen online! We spent a few days in Boonville over the weekend. On Sunday morning, we went to the Distillery in search of an American style breakfast. I have not been there in over a decade, then under another owner. To my surprise much of the fare was Mexican burritos and tacos. There was one waitress working. But they had a two egg breakfast which my brother enjoyed. I ordered the pork hash with sunny side up eggs. Suffice it to say that the ingredients were good, but integration was lacking. The toast was tasty, though. There wasn't that many people, but it took about 35 minutes for these fairly simple order to arrive. On Monday evening, many Boonville restaurants are closed so we went back to the Distillery. I ordered the summer salad and the Monday night hamburger special. My brother order the barbecue pulled pork. The summer salad never showed up despite flagging down the waitress twice to check on it. " Being made. Coming right up." 45 minutes later the Monday night hamburger special and barbecue pulled pork arrived. It's hard to blow an American hamburger, especially made in an American restaurant. So my safe choice was delicious. On Monday night the special includes fried potatoes, which essentially looks like very thick ridge kettle chips. I liked it - tasty and not greasy. My brother enjoyed the barbecue pulled pork. It came with sides of mac & cheese, and what looked like coleslaw.There was a bit of fat and surprisingly a bit of dried pork. But he enjoyed it. This summer salad never came, and I had to point out to the waitress to take it off the bill . I actually had to hunt the waitress down for my bill because she was at the bar talking for 10 to 15 minutes with a customer and never looking over at any of the diners. Again, one waitress to serve and clean tables. It was quite busier Monday night dinner since the Sunday brunch. So if stuck around Boonville on a Monday night, the Distillery is the only general restaurant ticket. Forwarned on slow and inconsistent service. The only other option is the historic Boonville Hotel across the street for the Monday night prix fixe dinner which will hit you for $75 per person. 4 courses.Wine not included. We went there first because we thought they might have menu options. And even though it didn't look busy, the hostess will tell you they have to check the reservations first to see if they can seat you! She actually said it a couple of times We weren't hungry enough for 4 courses. With no menu options, the reason why we return to the Distillery. read more

The food at the Boonville distillery is phenomenal with rotating specials that never fail to impress. My husband, daughter and myself came in to enjoy dinner the environment was beautiful and the service was wonderful. We enjoyed a burger cooked perfectly with french fries we can't find anywhere else, we had the tostada which is my favorite thing they have on their menu and my daughter loved the kids fish and chips! We also had a pots de crème for dessert which I think we each could have eaten more than one! The cocktails were delicious and the bartender was so kind. Jessica knew how to mix a great cocktail! This place is literally a hidden gem in Northern California! This Distillery/Bar/Restaurant has the BEST food and drinks. Hubby had the fried chicken and it was the juiciest, crispiest and most flavorful chicken ever. Just like homemade. I had the chef salad with the most wonderful assortment of veggies. Awesome strawberry lemon drop with the house distilled vodka! So delicious we bought a bottle to take home! Amazing presentation on the food. I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures of the food the second night The food, owner, chef and staff were so awesome we went back a second time for dinner and drinks on the same trip! This time it was a fried chicken plate to share and the tequila lime prawns and a side of the house made fries! The owner asked if I would like to try a drink she was working on...of course. Strawberry crème daiquiri! It was absolutely delicious, the crème vodka makes it! Now we just wait for it to be available to buy... Husband and I stopped for lunch on our way to Mendocino for the weekend. We didn't know what to expect but we have been talking about how good this food was ever since we ate there. We shared some lemon pepper wings (perfect crispness), fries (real fried not frozen), the tequila shrimp (so flavorful) and my husband also go himself a side salad. The waitress was so kind and welcoming. She let my husband taste the agave the make and we had to buy a bottle of that as well! We will for sure stop here again next time we head to Mendocino. I stumbled upon this beautiful gem on my drive up northern California. It was almost 8pm but I was drawn in by the beautiful building and lights. As soon as I walked in, I instantly got good feeling! I initially planned on a quick bite and drink, but was surprised to see that the kitchen was still open and we got an amazing burger, avocado sandwich and garlic fries. Ordered the tostada salad with chicken. SO incredibly spicy, couldn't eat it. Flies everywhere, chips and salsa wasn't actually served with salsa, it was a pico de gallo, very spicy. Chips were over done. Waiter was very nice but completely lacked information about the distillery and didn't know what to recommend on the distilled spirits. Overall, very underwhelmed with the Mexican food and drinks were mediocre. Definitely do not recommend the "fiesta night" menu. read more

I love Boonville. I'm into the rural vibe with good food and no pretension. Our experience at the Distillery was bad. We got crispy brussel sprouts that were not crispy. There was a large puddle of grease at the bottom of the dish that half the sprouts were soaking in. They claim they have the best fries in Anderson Valley. I was served fries that were only vaguely warm, not crisp and dried out in the middle. I didn't eat them. Somewhere I read that the chef has worked in a Michelin star restaurant. I wasn't expecting fancy cuisine, but comfort food prepared well. Not what I got. There wasn't a crowd. Seems like they weren't trying (or don't know how to use a fryer?) read more
