First off, let me say that I'm a happy hour junkie and you won't find a better one on Friday nights than this! $1 Miller Lites 4-7pm AND only $2 until 9pm? These prices just don't exist in DC! Not to mention a great deal on chicken wings as well. Located in the heart of DC near both Farragut metro stations, this underground dive bar has a very eclectic clientele. On any given Friday, you'll see people in suits, shorts, and everywhere in between. It's completely unpretentious and I like it that way. Since the minor flooding/water damage over the summer, BL has installed an AMAZING NEW Juke Box directly across from the bar. It is our go-to until the DJ shows up around 9pm or so on Fridays. The waitstaff are very friendly and super attentive! We always have a great time chatting with them on Fridays. Oh, and how could I forget the totchos?? Tater tots + nacho toppings = totchos!! 5 stars for Friday nights. 3 stars for all other nights. So I'll give it 4 stars overall. Friday nights are great here since their Miller Light special is the cheapest ever and there's always a really good crowd here since all the people who work in downtown DC only hang out on Friday nights. On other nights, they have specials but not as good (cheap) as the Friday night special but they do have food specials to make up for it. I've had a couple of food items and they're ok. Maybe their burgers are good but their wings and other appetizers weren't that good. But if you're around on a Friday night, great place to pre-game! read more

My friend from Ohio asked me to watch the NFL game here on Sunday 9/18/11. I thought she said it was a "singles" bar. But no! As it turns out, it was a "Bengals" bar. Well I had a good time anyway, in spite of the lack of flirtation factors. I ate a fried fish sandwich (it was a sea queen freezer pak filet, heavily breaded), Mom's mac 'n' cheese (it, at least TASTED homemade; not by MY mom, but by someone's), and some sodas. At every Bengals TD, the bar passes a free shot of something orange. I had TWO! They also BLAST the Ohio Players and celebrate all wild & crazy at every TD. My ears are STILL recovering. Nick, our server was COMPLETELY SWAMPED by the crowd. But somehow, he managed to keep almost everything straight and deal with difficult/picky fans. Good job. The Wi-Fi signal is non-existent and most of the bar is underground so you have to leave your seat & go upstairs to text, tweet, yelp, or checkin on 4sq (or do it before you come in) (or just stay off the grid for the duration of the game). So I and half the bar went out at halftime. I checked in in Yelp, and unlocked a half price burger! Too bad I already had that funky fish sadwich. So word to the wise: checkin BEFORE you descend into the Bottom Line. Someone handed me a "Who Dey'er?" card granting me progressive discounts on NFL days by attendance at Bengals games. This place is a bit of a dive bar but it's a couple blocks from the White House and everyone and their mother seems to flock there who works in the area. They're known for their hamburgers but if they have the crab sandwich special going on definitely splurge. The burgers are ok, but they're shaped weird, like a sub. This is the kind of bar where if you don't have much of a presence you're going to be overlooked. As mentioned by others there are few servers and bartenders and during the $2 happy hour they are packed. There's a bunch of people dressed up in their sleek business attire so unless you show up in either a pink suit or jeans and a t-shirt you're going to mesh into the background. I would give this place 5 stars for a dive bar...but the bathroom line occasionally get's too long... disclaimer...I'm biased...been going to this bar for almost 10 years and it's where I've spent many a long night lamenting about life with some of my closest friends. My fiancé and I went there this past Friday to celebrate his birthday with a coworker. Our server was Maddy. She was very attentive even with all the people she was waiting on. She did an excellent job on not over intoxicating my fiancé and made sure him and his coworker had water. We had the chicken nachos which were excellent. Came here for drinks after work with friends and had a great time. Exactly what we wanted. Only flaw probably the fact that the speakers were blasting so loud we couldn't hear. There also wasn't dancing when we showed but it was a Thursday night. Keep in mind: it's cheap, dark, divy, sketchy - everything a girl could want in a bar. If that's what you're going for, which in this case I was, it's absolutely perfect. But don't go expecting a lovely selection of French wines and ambiance a la Bar Dupont. Went to this dive bar at the request of a friend to meet there for lunch. Although I was skeptical because it was in a basement, I proceeded to keep an open mind and stay for lunch. 3.5 Stars. I think that Yelp has hit the nail on the head with TBL with the 3.5-star average rating, and would give it if I could. Since I am locked into this crazy whole-star system, though, I guess I'll round up. Call it the 65-degree weather on the last day of January -- or maybe I'm just in a great freakin' mood. In any event -- I ordered the Crab Quesadilla ($9.99) through LivingSocial's new takoeout ordering feature. I ordered the food to be ready in 20 minutes and it was sitting on the bar when I got there. I began to devour it on the way home (I was hungry and it was 1:45!), and decided to take a detour to Farragut Square since it had become even more beautiful outside than when I first set out. The quesadillas were warm and slightly crispy, the crab meat was plentiful, and the cheese gooey. I'm sure you can get better crabmeat at a seafood restaurant but you can't beat the value/convenience/service. So a solid 3.5 stars/B+ rating/what-have-you. read more

The food is solid, 1/2 price burgers on Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, etc., etc. I ordered a Taco Salad and was pleased with a hefty serving that far outweighed the price (which was really reasonable). I've had their tots many times (sometimes more than one basket in a night). Nothing too fancy but guaranteed hot, crispy and delicious. Beer selection is limited but there's something to please every palate. The bartender is great and makes a mean Gin martini. Had a really great time here the other night! Came for a happy hour with friends on Wednesday night. It was a nice place to catch up. The place is very casual and is a little tight in terms of spacing. Looks a little shady from the outside but super cozy inside. Have mirrors that I confused for photos (was a little trippy lol). There are stairs to go inside -- so it's not accessible to people with disabilities like me -- but my boyfriend helped me down so it was fine. Had really good happy hour prices $3 rail drinks, $4 margaritas, and well priced beer as well. Andre took really good care of us, was enthusiastic, and made us feel special! Overall awesome. We were in DC in the middle of that Jan 3'rd 2022 6" snowstorm. We walked miles from the (CLOSED) NASM up to K street and back toward Foggy Bottom looking for anything open. After passing two dozen closed restaurants and bars, the Bottom Line looked like a hole-in-the-wall, but we were cold and hungry. It turned out to be a gem - good food, some interesting beers (mine was El Hefe Speaks) and friendly competent staff. It turned a cold night into a nice memory. read more

So when we got to this place we seated ourselves and waited for our waiter. He took a little long but he was a pretty nice. We initially came for the free taco bar, and us being the fatties we are, didn't realize or know of the limit. They give you a ticket and you take the ticket to this guy in the back corner and he gives you two crunchy tacos. They had beef, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa. You should grab a fork too because I guarantee everything won't stay in the taco. Since there was a deal on the margaritas and some other drinks, my friend got one of those for $3. I also wound out getting an appetizer because the tacos just didn't fill me. We got Pancho's Tacos with chicken and that was pretty good. The music was a little too low for my liking and the waiters took a little too long to pay attention to us. The other people in the bar were actually really nice (while we were waiting for the rain to slow down, a guy came up the steps on the phone, handed it to me, and told me to tell whoever was on the phone that they could never get everyone on the same page. And a couple of minutes later, this older couple came upstairs and asked us why we were waiting up here and didn't go downstairs and get a drink, which we already did...) If you are looking for a true local spot this is the place! Traditional dive bar feel, situated underground, great beers on tap and plenty of room. All we saw were regulars and locals coming through, exactly what we were looking for! We got helped by waiter Big AL, he definitely took care of us and made sure our beer glass was always filled. Happy hour review: I've only gone during peak happy hour times so take that into consideration when reading my review :) I consider this place a hole in the wall (or ground), but that's definitely one of my favorite things about it. It get's pretty hectic during happy hour, specifically Thursdays and Fridays. So if you don't get there before or at 5pm then good luck on finding a decent spot haha. What do I like? Cheap drink prices, lively atmosphere, good service, and TAQUITOS! It's now a tradition for me and friends to get a few rounds of Taquitos each time we go-- the perfect snack or meal to have while chugging back cheap Miller Lites. Dislikes? Hmmmm probably the fact that there's no longer $1 Miller Lites and that it's now $2 :( You all may have done me a favor though since I really don't like them and only indulge when people buy them for me. I came here with a very large group after a charity walk, and this bar has always hosted the team I walked with. They had good prices, and they also knew how to make a good cocktail. I had a few whiskey sours, nachos, and the tator tots. The nachos were outstanding and loaded with toppings. The tots were fried to crispy perfection. This location appeared really cool at first. Then, order from the bar and this bartender ask for my card which is usually no problem however I decided to pay in cash ( up front). He began to get loud with me that we still like to have cards so people don't leave out. I stated, understood that's why I'll pay you right now as my drink and bar food comes out. He still began to get loud at the bar as if I didn't just pay him in full with a nice tip. It was so uncomfortable because as a black man, it was if he wanted to get loud around white folks. Little does he know, the manager knows me and I just haven't seen him since before Covid. If I didn't know this place and was a new customer, I would never come back here again. Atmosphere is nice but the bartender on Monday happy hour shift on October the 10th made me fill as if I didn't belong. Remember I paid him upfront and he told me I could leave if I didn't like the policy of paying with a credit card. Location is great and super convenient for metro or after work in legal district. Came in for Wednesday happy hour, and wasn't expecting much because the place was packed. However, the service was tremendous, the drinks were great, and the staff was a blast to be around. Dre was a terrific bartender in spite of the crowd. After being seated and served by Al, we ended up staying a few hours longer than planned because we were having such a great time. Shouts out specifically to Al, who was a fantastic host and really went above and beyond to develop a relationship with the customer in a way that is uncharacteristic for D.C. He was friendly, warm, and an all around great guy to be around. Great sense of humor. He alone earned a whole new group of weekly patrons for the DC establishment. Has an arcade game There are about fifteen tables in the back, and we saw a couple on a date there. It could be a decent place for a quiet date on a weeknight, but I didn't try the food. From what I saw, it looks like typical cheap bar food. The bar is well stocked and they have about ten beers on tap! For its location it has cheap prices which is nice! I'm giving two stars because while the drink was strong enough, the soda game was week. Also, I wouldn't exactly call it gay friendly. Felt a tad uncomfortable, but nothing bad actually happening. This place seemed like a lot of fun. That was until we got the bill. The bartender had added at least 7-8 drinks to our tab. Just to put this in perspective this would have meant that 3 people drank 28 miller lites between about 6pm and 10pm. When my buddy dared to say we didn't feel comfortable with the bill the female bartender's response was to have him kicked out. When I chimed in that I agreed with him she threatened to have me kicked out as well. There weren't any threats or name calling or any other threatening behavior.
