We were excited to try out the new Worth Group Restaurant as Peasant & the Pear in Danville is a favorite, so we stopped by Bourbon Pear for lunch Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly and although there were some familiar items on the menu, we decided to try all "new" items (to us) which were: * Barrel Aged Manhattan ($24) * Potato Skins - Cheddar-jack cheese, bacon, sour cream ($16) * Cajun Chicken Pasta - Linguini garlic, tomatoes, cajun-cream sauce (24) * Bourbon Chicken - Mushroom-garlic cream sauce, mashed potatoes, sauteed spinach ($26) Cocktail and appetizer came out quickly - can't go wrong with a Manhattan but the potato skins were dry and not very good even smothered in sour cream Entrees came out soon after and we have mixed feelings... The Cajun chicken pasta was creamy but there was no spice or even a little heat - like where is the cajun part? The chicken was also cut into cubes but the cook on it was inconsistent - some pieces were perfect, and other pieces were very chewy, but the tomatoes were good. The bourbon chicken dish sauce was good but again the chicken fell short - was dry and chewy with no flavor. It may have been better if the chicken was more seasoned and/or charred and the dish was plated separately since it was all thrown together in one big bowl. Our server was friendly but slowwwww and rarely checked in with us so had to flag her down multiple times for water refills, dessert order and check. The peartini, seriously just wow! It was so delicious, after 1 sip I knew I would need another. I highly recommend this cocktail and it definitely started out our lunch on a high note. I had the Grand Mere sandwich paired with garlic truffle fries and it was wonderful. It is a very elevated sandwich that really hits the mark. The chicken is moist and flavorful. So excited to try this place. We came here when it was Clucked and then Fat chance and unfortunately, neither one of those places stuck so we're hopeful for this place. They have a very good assortment of food menu items. Our server was nice and helpful but not very talkative. We didn't mind because he was efficient so it was fine. All were tasty but each had their own little issues with, and I'm just gonna attribute that to it being still a relatively new place. The margarita was really good no issues. The Cobb salad was really good. I don't have any issues with it, both salads were pretty good Actually. The Sedona sandwich was good Except the chicken was suuuuper dry. The chicken seemed to be cut into two pieces so there were times you'd get a bite with no chicken because the piece slipped from the sandwich. The BLT was the main one that was a problem. The lettuce was wilted, the tomato had the core in the one slice they gave which really sucked. The bacon wasn't strips of bacon, it was bacon pieces. It made it difficult to eat. Each bite, the bacon would fall out and had to be scooped back into the sandwich. It was actually really disappointing. The bacon is the claim fame for a BLT and it should be the best part. Unfortunately it was the worst part. The fries were ok, they were shoestring fries and overly salted. We also got a lot of small pieces of fries that were overcooked. My partner has a spring fashioned which he enjoyed though didn't like the consistency of the strawberry puree. For lunch i tried the Brie and pear quesadilla but didn't find it held much flavor there aside from the pear chutney. My partner said he burger was alright but somewhat dry and didn't enjoy his potato salad much. We came here for lunch for my 50th birthday. I wanted to try a new restaurant downtown so decided on coming here. Upon entering we waited at the host stand. Another person had arrived right before us and was dropping off a paper and the employee and him talked for a good amount of time before finishing their conversation and finally acknowledging us. It's seems the word is out that The Bourbon Pear is delicious. The bar had two spots open so we didn't have to wait. We were greeted fairly quickly and given menus. I had a Tennessee mule a whiskey twist to the original. It was ok, I felt that it needed a smidge more ginger beer. The old fashioned was really good! As an appetizer we choose the hush puppies, and omg! So good! They come with a cinnamon honey butter. Highly recommend. As our entrees I had the Rodzilla burger and he had their Friday night Fried chicken special. The burger was good but I ordered it a little over cooked for my liking. No biggie, that was my own fault. I tend to like my meat a little more rare than most. Also, note that they do offer gluten free buns for their burger and sandwiches. It's actually good too! I know it can be a little difficult to find a good GF bread. I had a small bite of the fried chicken, THE BEST I've had in this area! Reminded me of the chicken I've had during my trips to the south. Newly established on 1st street, but not new to industry as this is another sister restaurant to the Worth Group's portfolio. I had high hopes for this place as they call themselves Bourbon and have been established in the restaurant industry for a while. Stopped by without reservations on a Wednesday evening without a reservation and was seated promptly. They do ask if you want a drink menu before sitting you. I could see that the bar was stocked pretty well up. They don't have a whisky or alcohol bible, but there is a list on the back of the drink menu in super small, almost fine print like. It is super hard to read, but the prices are on there. Some details are missing like the year of certain bourbons. I skipped getting a pour but opted for one of those cocktails instead. Gold Rush Whiskey Sour (17) was god awfully sweet. Our waiter never inquired about the drinks and it was just too much honey. You could tell that the bar tender was new and I would of been better off drinking water. For food: Cast Iron Mexican White Prawns (22) - There were about 5 pawns and the juices all sat on top of two pieces of toast which was completely soggy and just soaking it all up. Overly tart with citrus and the shrimps were barely translucent and not even a char, especially since it's came in a cast iron skillet and came out lukewarm. I would pass on this at that price. Certified Angus New York Steak (37) - The menu doesn't say, but the steak is a 10oz. It was tough and I had to send it back because I ordered in medium rare and it came rare. I get that the steak was thicker in the center compared to the sides but it was executed poorly. The fries that came on the side was soggy and wasn't crispy at all. I sent the steak back and a manager brought me a tomato soup to hold me over while they remade my steak. The second steak was way thinner and cooked to medium, but at this point, I was starving and saw no reason to send it back. The arugula that comes with the steak is toss with a balsamic as I was told, but it tasted like it was DROWNED in salt. There is a lot of work to be done in my opinion for their kitchen and their bar. Maybe in a few more months, it will be more consistent but the quality wasn't there for me. I was really excited about this coming to town, but it's a hard pass for me. read more

The decor is charming and rustic. There is zero sound absorption, so it's VERY loud--not good for anyone who struggles with their hearing. Everyone was extremely friendly from the host to the server and all the wait staff. The service was efficient. The food was so-so. The French Dip was disappointing given that it was not shaved steak meat but a slab of steak which had to be eaten with a fork and knife. It was a decent cut of meat without fat. The au juois was nothing special. The Cajun chicken pasta was hearty and ample. The Sedona sandwich was fine, nothing notable in the flavors and the chicken breast only required half the bummer came in. The French fries were cold.
