Seafood Alfredo = noodles drowning in butter, shrimp and scallops couldn't taste any more fishy, and crab meat is actually immigration crab meat. After a few bites and refusing to eat the rest, the manager took the entree off our bill and gave us a free turtle cheesecake dessert. However, that was equally as horrible as the entree. In conclusion, I would go here again, but that would mean all the other restaurants in town are closed. read more

This is an over priced restaurant claiming to be a steak place but is better off as just a bar. It is next too a motel where drugs and prostitution run rampant and you have many of them coming from next door. The prices are way over high and the meat very tough tasting more like buffalo than steak. The service was horrible and even the ATM is a rip off in this joint. I just arrived in town after traveling all day. Although, I did not see any reviews on this restaurant and decided to take a chance. The staff seem to be very friendly and the ambiance looked like a midwestern decor. TV on the wall showing the latest sports keep one entertained. I've been to Branded Steer a few times and I would have to say this last time lowered my review by a star. Yes the bread is excellent. Warm and tasty and even better with the whipped butter they give you. The soups and salads were all very good. Everyone at our table liked them. My Buffalo Chicken sandwich was excellent. So why only 3 stars? A couple of people at our table ordered steak. Now this is the Branded Steer so that should be a pretty safe order right? Not at all. The steak was fatty (not the good kind but the kind where it's stringy all through the whole cut of meat). One person ordered well done and there was a couple pieces that were actually pink. I'm going to assume that we hit this place for steak at the wrong time. I will go back but you can bet I will stick with the hamburgers and chicken sandwiches which seems like a shame. read more

While in the Milwaukee for family business, we decided to try this place as it was close (next) to the hotel and it delivered. I should have hung up when the order taker said "there's a $4 delivery charge that doesn't go to the driver" We ordered delivery because we were bone tired and didn't feel like going back out. What was delivered was overpriced, cold, bland tasting and not like the online menu description. I should also say that the person who took the order was also the delivery person who looked pissed off as the delivery was being dropped off. Ok at best, server that I had was great, food left alot to be desired. I ordered a new York strip stake medium, it came out that way but it had a nice large cut down the center so the cooks could check temp. If your claiming to be an amazing steak house then your cooks should know how to temp a steak by sight and touch, not a large cut. My other issue is there are no real choice of sides. The steak had very little seasoning and was bland. Just a heads up. For the price it really is not worth stopping there. You can do better. My visit was a little over a month ago. read more

i stopped in here while I was in Wisconsin on business from LA. It looked pretty cool as I walked in but sadly, the food and service was pretty mediocre. I ordered a steak which was decent, the the greatest. Here's where I was the most disappointed, my friends steak was very undercooked. It took us forever to get the waitresses attention and when we finally did, she took the steak back. In my opinion, she should have come back with a freshly cooked new steak. She instead came back with the same steak that had been thrown on the grill again for a few more minutes. To me, that was a very unclassy move. I ordered takeout from the Branded Steer and they overcharged my card by $80. My total check was only $5, somehow I was charged $85.00. When I noticed this on my bank statement, I instantly called the restaurant to speak to the manager. I cannot begin to explain how rudely I was treated by the management. First of all, John, who I spoke to, did not seem the least bit bothered that I had been over charged to such a large extent. When I asked for the problem to be resolved quickly, he refused telling me that they were busy with the lunch rush and he'd "get to it eventually". I work in customer service and I know that this is COMPLETELY unacceptable, especially when it comes to an $80 mistake. I had to proceed to call them three more times before I was able to get any answers. Not only was I YELLED at by John over the phone, but they refused to simply reverse the charge. I had to physically go into the restaurant to pick up a check from them, that I then had to take the time to go cash. I understand that mistakes happen, but being treated so terribly after the fact is not acceptable. I will never, ever go there again. I also work at a hotel close by that used to send them quite a bit of business. I am now open and honest with my guests that going there is a horrible idea. read more

Went last night after the movie. I will try to make this short and to the point. Watier - inattentive and not informative; not told choices of soup, had to ask choices of potato and dressing; never offered dessert. Forgot croutons for salad, sour cream & butter for potato, refills on hot tea. Hardly ever saw him. Food - lukewarm, steak tasted like the grill instead of the meat, greasy, cold onion straws, salad is iceburg lettuce, 1 slice of cucumber and sad red onion rings, dressing on side in PLASTIC container, no hot veggie with meal. Restaurant - redecorated beautifully - nice wood throughout. Floor SLICK. I slipped 3 times. Noisy - music too loud and we were seated next to the kitchen although there were other booths available. Chose Branded Steer because it was so close to my hotel. Decide to get takeout. Ordered at the bar and enjoyed a glass of wine while I waited. Bar staff was nice. Food came out pretty quickly. They're known for steaks and ribs more than the rest of their menu. Staying in a hotel, didn't want to deal with either so chose lasagna. It was okay. Pretty big serving - a ton of cheese. I've eaten at this restaurant twice. I can say both times it was a "meh" kind of experience. Inquired after server about flour in chicken and rice soup, she said, "oh were you looking for something more gluten free?" I indicate yes, so, she said she understands. Explained that I did not want "lassos" with my pork chops for said reason, yet they came anyway. So, if you have a major food allergy, I wouldn't plan on them taking it serious at all. Further, I get that it's a "Tex-Mex' type place, but - they need to control the char, the mashed potatoes were good but - kind of dry, obvious they were cooked way earlier. Chili is kind of spicy, I'd almost recommend toning it down and providing people with hot sauce, that way it can appeal to more people. read more

Ate dinner here last night. Waitress was very sweet and patient with us. Suggestion on steak ordering..order it less done then you really want. Ribeye was thin and M was a soft pink throughout. My friends and I were looking for a place to have dinner, and after driving around for a while, we decided to stop at the Branded Steer. It smelled amazing when we were walking in, but we were quickly disappointed. Our waitress was clueless and couldn't even remember what we ordered to drink. She didn't know the menu and when we finally ordered our food, the steak was completely flavorless, the burgers were horrible and smothered in bland sauce. Each of us took one bite and were done. When I drove in the I had a taste for a steak. Coming from out of town it looked like a great place. Surprise they only had 4 steaks and 2 were farmers. (Hamburger meat) I had a screwdriver first one great second really strong (inconsistent)The wonderful waiter told me I can get the ahi tuna rare so I fell for it the first was medium. Second prefect. Food was bad and over priced. Bartender (server) asked what I wanted to drink. Brought it and never saw him again until he was grabbing for the receipt to get his tip before he closed out. I only know this because I over heard them, not because he informed me that he was trying to get out of there. The other bartender (server) took my food order and never once asked how it was or if I needed anything. I would have gladly and quietly told her that the food was horrible, but she never even asked so I just sat until she finally came over and asked "Tab?", I said "yes please", she set tab down and went back to pouring Jag shots with the customer across the bar. This place is a shabby establishment with a cool name that makes you think it's a steak house. Had to have one of the local patrons stop one of workers so i could order. Then i had to grab one of the floor waitresses to get my salad for me. Mashed potatoes had a strand taste. I'm impressed. I guess this is a local Milwaukee chain. I hadn't heard of it before. The price to quality ratio is outstanding. For a chain especially... this is good stuff. The rotisserie potatoes are worth the price of admission. My chicken was delish... they cooked the family's steaks perfectly and they were quite tasty. We came to Milwaukee for the Indy Car race and stayed at the Hampton, which is across the street from this restaurant. It looked nice on the outside, and we were starving. We had the potato skin appetizer, and it was loaded with cheese - yum. The cream of chicken rice soup was good, but a little bland - I added some pepper. the cheeseburger and ribeye steaks were all good, not outstanding, but solid. I'm really surprised at the 3-star rating overall with 56 reviews. I went there tonight and was thoroughly impressed. Food was great, service was SHOCKINGLY fast and portions were plenty. Enjoyed the fresh bread and was DELIGHTED when my server brought out extra napkins without me having to ask. Met the manager regarding an issue with my meal and the problem was remedied quickly and to my satisfaction. The menu selection is as wide as it is diverse.
