The pizza had a nice thing crispy crust, thats the only good thing I can say. The toppings were inadequate, almost non existent. Sausage, mushroom, onion and there were almost non to be seen or tasted, it was almost a cheese pizza. It was a very bland pizza. Also ordered the rueben rolls (6). What came out were 3 small egg roll filled rueben rolls which had been cut in half to make "6" for $13.99. This was the most deceptive thing I have ever seen in a restraunt. I told the server to let the management know how I felt and why not just cut those 6 in half and put on the menu 12 reuben rolls? Nothing was done about it and nothing even mentioned after, so that was very disappointing as well. read more

I finally discovered a solid place to eat in Oak Creek! So many chains and mediocrity! The Cellar has a bar area and a separate eating area if you want to sit away from the bar area. Some dinners come with chili, soup or a salad. I got the chili. It was full flavored. I wished they had some hot sauce but it was still a great choice. The shrimp seemed to have been breaded on site and not from a Sysco bag. The Italian was packed with meat and was impossible to finish. We had great service from every employee which seems to be so rare. I will definitely return. read more

We go here quite often. Their pizzas are hit or miss. Last night, definitely a miss! We ordered a large, cheese, sausage, onion, green pepper pizza. There were 10 dime size sausages down the middle along with a sparse sprinkle of onions and green pepper. I really couldn't tell if there was even cheese on it. You really need a new cook. I ordered an iced tea, and it tasted off. I told our waitress, and she took it away. I had two sips. She still charged us $2.50 for the bad drink. Very disappointing! I was on my way home from Friday baseball day game in Chicago and wanted to pick up a fish fry along the way. The Celler on Oakwood was the closest of my bookmarks to the highway with a fish fry I hadn't yet tried once I was back in Wisconsin, so I gave them a shot. I ordered wonton mozzarella sticks and beer battered cod with potato pancakes. At the end of my phone order I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. I was only 11 minutes away according to my map app, so I said that was perfect. Given how soggy the breading was on the fish and that everything in general was warm instead of hot, I assume it was done in much less time than 10 minutes. Not thrilled about the poor timing. The mozzarella sticks came with five large sticks, so you get a good value for your money if you're only worried about size and quantity. The cheese, though, was bland. I also asked for no Parmesan sprinkled on top and they didn't listen. At least it wasn't a ton and not difficult to brush what I could off. I liked the flavor of the potato pancakes, but unfortunately for this particular order they were pretty thick (normally that wouldn't be a problem). Any remaining crispiness that wasn't zapped out of the outsides by condensation in the to go box was negated by the mushier texture of the inside. If I were to dine in I would certainly get them again, but not something to go. If you're dining in the fish is probably very good. Again, the soggy breading didn't do it for me, but I could taste the beer in the batter and I feel like it had a good ratio of breading to beer. The four pieces were well sized too. read more

This was new restaurant of week and I was excited to try it because the place looks very old. It's a bar and restaurant with a nice wood bar as you walk in, hi tables around it and a nice dining room in back with booths and tables. The place has a lodge feel with all the wood. I was promptly seated and given a menu and I ordered a whiskey sour old fashioned. The menu is typical bar food with pizza, burgers etc etc. My whiskey sour old fashioned was super average which always makes me think of the really great one I had by the airport in town. I ordered the 1/2 lb cheeseburger rare with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheddar cheese that comes frys or soup. The soup was split pea with ham and I love split pea soup so this being a restaurant the soup is probably home made for soup of the day I was hoping. The soup was horrible because it was loose and very bland with tiny pieces of ham with weak flavor, OMG could this possibly be the worst restaurant food service commercial soup I have ever had. It was definitely getting the oyster crackers and a couple dashes of salt to help it along. My cheeseburger was served fairly quickly but I thought I got someone's else's order because it was plain and it had frys with it, you only get soup or frys my server told me so I was going to send it back until I noticed the blood on the cheese and bun so yes it's my rare cheeseburger just all messed up. I call my server over and I reminded her that I ordered lettuce, tomato and onions on my burger and it's a plain cheeseburger. My server goes into the the kitchen and brings me a side salad plate of fresh toppings so I have make my own cheeseburger at my table I guess WTF. Ok after all the WTF is going on here aside let's get into the food. The frys were hot cooked to order, seasoned nicely with a golden crispy shell and soft center, very nice as far as frys go. The cheeseburger on my first bite shot juice out of it so it's a juicy fresh patty which left juice on my plate. The meat wasn't seasoned but it had a small char broiled flavor which was tasty and it was cooked perfectly rare. The cheeseburger was really really good on a fresh egg wash bun with fresh toppings. My final thoughts is that this was a comedy of errors because they do some thing's completely right and completely fail on others like having a good cheeseburger/frys that they can't assemble correctly and very mediocre commercial soup. I still left my server a 50%+ tip because I don't know it was she or the kitchen added to this odd experience. read more

We had a party of 14 and had tickets for a show. Our waitress was FANTASTIC!!!!. She had all the orders correct, they were served very promptly, and our drinks were never empty. We live close and go there often. In the summers we love the patio. Great place, great service, great people! read more

Stopped in for Lunch on a Friday. Got there right before the "rush". They do get a good crowd of workers on lunch break. Great location. It feels like a "lake bar". I personally like the inside. Tons of wood, sports memorabilia. It was the kind of place I would own, IF I could. I had a burger and fry's, while my lunch partner had the Fried Fish dinner. Burger was simple, good, still juicy. Fries were perfect mix was crispy and soft on the inside. My partner stated food was good, but thought perhaps the 3 pieces of fish were a little small. I would encourage The Cellar to put sweet potato fries on the menu. The service was GREAT. Bartender very friendly. Also had a good selection of game to play. It is not a huge space but there is ample seating and plenty of room to move. This place exemplifies the south side bar experience. Burger was good. Beer selection is decent. Been here many times and I like the ambience. We had seven people and we took up two small bar area tables. We were unsure of the number of people we'd have but we didn't require a lot of accommodation or anything, as seven showed up. We all ordered drinks and most of us ordered food. Each one of us was billed for a "party surcharge" on our bills, between $6-8 each. No idea why that would be added to our bills. That's a lot of extra money the Cellar asked from us for taking up two small bar tables and not making a fuss about anything, or requiring any extra attention. Normally a 25-30% tipper at bars, but took out the surcharge from the tip. Sad for the server, who did a decent job. Will not come here again--Other places are priced equally or better and won't add such a strange unnecessary charge to the bill. Baffling. read more

We went for their Friday fish fry. The food portions are generous but not over generous. The batter they use on their fish is tasty but covers the taste of the fish itself, so much so that the only difference between fish on the platter is texture. But still quite tasty. The wait staff is always good at this restaurant and they check back frequently to make sure you are happy with your meal. The place has an interesting history since 1863 with a unique interior and a wonderful outside seating area with a pond and fountain. I do recommend this as a good tavern food stop. read more
