This place is a hidden gem, ask for Jessie or Itzel at the restaurant. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger, the appetizer sampler, New York Steak, and an Apple pie ala mode. SO SO GOOD. The meat on the burger was cooked to perfection and was a hearty portion. The appetizer plate had potatoe skins, egg rolls, chicken wings, and mozarella sticks. All crispy and delicious. The steak was tender and juicy served with roasted potatoes and broccolini. The apple pie a la mode was made fresh in the restaurant. I am a pie connoisseur and this was a flaky buttery treat. The service was excellent, very attentive, caring, and charismatic. They are definitely open for business and I hope they get more recognition for their restaurant. Ambiance is relaxed and elegant. This place is located in the Best Western hotel. It was sparsely filled when I got there tonight at 7:30pm. The one bartender was busy chatting to a large table so I had to wait for a while. His name is Ken and he is a very friendly and gregarious person! We had interesting conversation and he poured me a gigantic glass of Sauvignon Blanc so I instantly liked him. I ordered the fettuccini alfredo with shrimp which was a large portion for only $23. It was really good with a lot of large prawns! Everyone who wandered in was a guest of the hotel and there were some funny characters. It was very close to my hotel (Travelodge) and I highly recommend it! read more

This restaurant was in the lobby of the hotel I was staying in for business, so I figured I'd give it a try. The drinks were decent and cheap, the service started off great but nose-dived pretty fast. I ordered a steak with baked potato and veggies, and once my meal arrived my waiter proceeded ot sit down in the back of the restaurant with friends and ignore me for the remainder of the meal. I wanted some steak sauce desperately since the steak was a little tough, and I got to last 1/4 of it before I could finally catch his eye long enough to rouse him to get up and see if I needed anything. The potato was great and served with butter, sour cream, and bacon bits on the side. The steak was properly cooked but tough, and the veggies were GREAT. I ordered dessert on a whim, the apple pie with ice cream. The ice cream was tasty (Breyers I think?) but the apple pie while warmed was clearly store bought or even frozen. This place was as I expected it would be...rated "eh" to "ok". I ordered the prime rib figuring that the most expensive sounding thing on the menu would be decent. It was barely OK. I would've gotten a better meal at Denny's. In fact, if I wasn't with the family I would've walked out and went there. So i got the great american burger here. The burger was just okay, although I wasn't expecting to be wowed by the flavor. I went down and ordered then took it up to my room. Nothing was wrong with room service, I just didn't use them. Very nice bartender, who just gave me a coke for waiting that I didn't ask/pay for. They do have a selection of different styles, from burgers, to salads, to hot wings, to stir fry dishes. More often than not, many simply head across the street to Mickey D's if they're trying to save $$$, and must admit to doing the same for 1 night. Still, the brass elephant is there, convenient, and room service kicks in at 5:30pm but closes before 11. Also, this is where you eat breakfast. read more

She's smiles a lot compare to the other servers who seems like they doesn't like their jobs. She's very attentive and very easy to talked to. Our group loved her. After a debate with my family about where to eat and the wait debacle at a local Italian eatery, we threw up our hands and just came here since we were already staying at the hotel it's inside. Though we were seated right away, the good points of the restaurant end there. Our waiter was horribly inattentive and slow. He brought out our drinks and we didn't see him for another 45 minutes until our food came out. He brought out the appetizers we had ordered 5 minutes before bringing out the rest of the meal, and we had to flag home down numerous times for drink refills. We asked for some ketchup and he brought out a bottle that had maybe one squeeze left in it. By then we had come to expect it's take him forever to come back and help us, so we dreaded the wait we'd have to experience once again. If that's not enough, the food was not appetizing at all. Almost everyone at our table had some compliant about their dish. All in all it was a disappointing end to a disappointing night. Go next door to IHOP, you'll probably have better luck there. read more

Staying at the hotel for business. My expectations were low given the previous reviews (although they are a little old), but the Brass Elephant hit a major home run! I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca - and it was fantastic! Perfectly seasoned, just delicious. My server Will was great too. Very friendly and prompt service. I was disappointed with our server because he seemed disappointed to be serving me and my 2 friends. I paid cash $40 for my $28 bill. He asked if I wanted change and I said yes I always leave a good tip but he just stood at the bar and didn't bring my change then I looked at him and he went in the back employee area never returning. I was extremely disappointed with my meal here. I stay at the attached Best Western fairly often, and decided to give this restaurant a try. I ordered the Jambalya Pasta to go, and the service was at least decent giving me a call once the meal was ready. The pasta was extremely dry, with nothing whatsoever that would make it anything resembling Jambalya. There was absolutely no sauce, other than a few green and red specks on the noodles. There were a few pieces of chicken with no flavor, that were about the size you'd get in some cheap chicken chow mein. The sausage was the only decent part of the meal. Most restaurants would also include at least a bread stick or some form of bread to go with a pasta meal. But nothing was included. While I would have still been disappointed, a little pack of salt could have at least made it edible. They also don't let you know that tip is already included when they have you sign the receipt. So I double tipped on a "to go" order. I admit I should have checked more thoroughly, but I also don't agree with adding a tip in on a to go order for one person. I'd recommend getting your dinner from the Costco food court, I think you'd make a better choice. On the plus side, I did get two free Andis mints. read more

So the first confusing thing was the hours. The hotel web site stated dinner starts at 5 pm but when you arrive they do not seat until 5:30pm what??? Went to the bar had drinks and dinner at 5pm ( dinner in the bar only apparently at this time ). The drinks were great and Stephanie provided excellent service, best we've had in a long time. The food ok. Salad was iceberg.... yuck.. but fresh. Tomatoes, croutons, and cucumbers also fresh. Baked potato and wild rice were very good but the New York steak ranks in comparison with the Sizzler. If you do not want to drive this is okay. I'd recommend drinks and eating elsewhere. read more

This restaurant is in need of Gordon Ramsay! We were staying at the Best Western (adjacent to the Brass Elephant) and needed to order room service (we were put up in this hotel by the airline). My bf and I split the Asian Salad and the Linguine Pomodoro, and two teas. The food arrived an hour later, barely warm. The tea itself was cold. The linguine was a microwave meal and I believe the chicken in the asian salad was as well. The taste was worse than it sounds, truly DISGUSTING. The linguine was rubbery and oily and the asian salad tasted old. Everything was processed and tasted that a microwave meal. I have no idea how this restaurant is still open as it's food doesn't even taste real! read more

Service was good, BUT the food was nasty. Got the chicken sandwich, the meat was so dry and tough. The menu also said "blackened chicken" which the chicken I received seemed to be boiled in just plain old water, gross. McDonald's across the street would be a better choice. I have always been pleased with my meals here, the service is friendly & the atmosphere is relaxing (which is so refreshing after freeway driving from the Sacramento area.) We stay at the best western in South San Francisco often so always visit this restaurant at least one time during our visit. read more

Tasty and tender New York charcoal grilled steak dinner with baked potato and mixed vegetables for $26 a la carte. Came medium rare as ordered. There were few people dining at 6 pm. Good service in a pleasing environment. The second night I ordered shrimp curry with wild rice and mixed vegetables for about $26 a la carte. Curry was tomato based with odd flavor and very salty but at least shrimp were not overcooked. Probably the best choice for those seeking quality dining within walking distance of the Best Western Hotel. However I would go somewhere else if I had a car. McKenna's on The Bay is far better dining and environment for similar cost but it is a couple of miles from the hotel. read more

We stayed at the Hotel and had this as room service one night. We had the Chicken Parmigiana (the green beans served with it were to die for. The pasta was cooked perfect and great by themselves and the chicken itself was excellent), The buffalo wings (they were the sauce-less kind but VERY HOT. the blue cheese dressing was water downed and didn't taste the best), A small Cesar salad (I think all California salads consist of every kind of green thing except lettuce, I felt like a rabbit. the dressing was good though), and the fajitas (the steak was chewy and kind of tough but had a good flavor. The rice was plain white rice but soaked up the flavors from the fajita fixings so was good. The beans were bland and under cooked). All and all it was OK, but expected a lot more for the prices. read more
