I don't know when I became a bread guy. It sort of crept up on me like a feral cat or a gym membership I didn't cancel in time. But here we are. I am a bread guy now and The Bread Club is to blame. Let me paint you a picture. The Bread Club is the brainchild of the same people behind Mamani, which if you don't know, just got a Michelin star, which if YOU don't know what that means, just trust me, it's a big deal, they don't hand those out at Applebee's. The head baker Peter Edris trained in New York City, moved to Dallas, looked at Texas corn and said "yes, I will use that." The man mills his own grains in house. IN HOUSE. There is a stone mill. Inside the building. On Howell Street. In Uptown Dallas. This is not a drill. I walked in on what can only be described as a regular day that quickly became irregular. The smell hit me first, warm and yeasty and deeply threatening to my self control. I scanned the room like a man who had not eaten in several days despite having eaten breakfast two hours earlier. La Marzocco espresso machine humming in the corner, pastries lined up like little soldiers prepared to sacrifice themselves for the greater good, bread loaves just sitting there being absolutely gorgeous about it. I got the jambon beurre because I am not a coward and also because saying jambon beurre out loud makes me feel like I know things. Classic French ham sandwich, hold the ham, on housemade bread with butter so good it nearly made me cry in public, which would have been embarrassing, but honestly worth it. Also grabbed a meringue tart because the heart wants what the heart wants and my heart apparently wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon in a sugar coma on the patio. The patio by the way. Packed. Every single table. People draped across the lawn like they lived there. I respect it. That is the correct behavior. Will I be back? I already have a loyalty card. See you next week Bread Club. I really enjoyed my visit to The Bread Club. Overall, it's a super cute spot. The exterior is just as beautiful as the interior, and there's plenty of seating both inside and outside, which makes it a great place to hang out. The moment you walk in, you're hit with the amazing smell of fresh bread and pastries, which immediately sets the tone. I also liked the thoughtful setup with grab-and-go items in a corner alongside the fresh bakery display. It makes things really convenient. Coffee was great, and some standout items for me were the breakfast sandwich and the morning bun. The only downside was the sausage roll. I would have preferred it warmed up. When I asked, I was told they don't warm items since everything is made fresh in the morning. That was a bit disappointing for me personally. Because of that, i'd give it 4 stars instead of 5. If they offered the option to warm certain items, this would easily be a 5-star experience. read more

Food/Drinks: From their pastries, tried the Chocolate "B" Croissant, as well as the Ensaymada. The former was alright--probably would have been better fresh. While it retained some of the flakiness, it was a bit tough to cut through/chew. The latter had a better texture, but would have preferred more cheese to balance the ratio with bread, truer to an Ensaymada. From their drinks, ordered a Pistachio Banana Latte, as well as a Melon Matcha. The former was OK, but was a bit sweet. The latter was solid, with the melon flavor coming through nicely. Service: Great! Friendly staff. Line went by quickly. Also, if you aren't happy with your drink, they offer to adjust it for you. Ambiance: Casual, modern, minimalistic. Parking: Limited parking. I got the madeleine horchata matcha and blueberry ricotta danish. The matcha tasted just like cinnamon milk and was very watered down; you can't taste the matcha at all. I would skip this, maybe their coffee is better. They had a wide selection of pastries/breads that all looked delicious. I got the blueberry ricotta danish and the pastry part itself isn't that flaky or buttery. The filling tastes custard and has a lemon zest flavor which I really enjoyed but they really skill out on the filling. There was barely in there. Oh man; where do I start? This is giving... my old bakery in montrose of Houston but in Dallas? The vibes are popping. The people be peopling. and the food smells great! As soon as you enter the bakery you're hit with smells of French breads, sourdough, and different type of baked confectioneries. I'm super surprised he didn't say absolutely not, he isn't one for waiting in a line for me to try a food/beverage spot but seeing as though it was the day before Mother's Day perhaps he figured we'd just wait it out. I'd seen this place on TikTok and all the reviews were spot on. This place is worth all the hype! It's absolutely adorable inside and out and has a classy feel. It was strong yet the cold foam was sweet, making it perfectly balanced. The pastries definitely felt authentic and reminded me of France, though the flavors themselves were just okay to me. I tried a few things, including the carrot cake muffin, which had huge chunks of pecans--definitely not my favorite. I also ordered the Madeleine horchata matcha. The flavor was strong and really good at first, but the ice melted quickly and watered it down, so next time I'd order it with light ice. Overall, it's a cute, bright spot and perfectly located for a quick bite before or after a Katy Trail walk or run. A little overpriced though--3 pastries and a matcha came out to around $40. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL selection of pastries and baked items offered at this upscale bakery in the heart of the Quadrangle. Depending on when you go there will likely be a wait but the line moves pretty fast. When you enter you are greeted by a few pantry items (think: fancy tuna, savory spreads, crackers, etc) then a few refrigerated items (prepared salads, juices, etc.) before you get to the showstoppers - those gorgeous baked items! I wanted everything but settled on the strawberry cream danish (delish! more like a croissant, not too sweet) and the ham & cheese biscuit (needed to be warmed, and it unexpectedly had some spicy peppers). A little disappointed in the bread selection (pretty sparse) but the staff told me that selections change. They also have sandwiches, matcha, and coffee which I'll have to try next time. I came back a second time (missed out on the sweets! They are sold out pretty early, by 2pm) I got lucky when the line was "short" - by the time I sat down it doubled! (You can see the line outside the window in my picture). There are several parking lots nearby but you have to pay for it. A friend recommended this place to me as it's fairly new and so we braved the long line on a Saturday afternoon to determine if the hype is true. After 45 min of waiting in line, we were able to get inside and order: I selected the Spicy Chicken Special sandwich (served on a baguette with Grilled Chicken, Provolone, Kale, Chipotle Piquillo Aioli, and Pickled Fresno). The flavor profile was very well balanced and I enjoyed the bread that it was served in; very crispy yet soft at the same time. It was slightly spicy, but for those averse to spice, in general I would say it was tolerable and not too overwhelming. I also ordered the yuzu lemonade which was very refreshing and tart, perfect for a hot spring day. There are some sandwich condiments and associated snacks available for review and purchase while you wait in line. Unfortunately Bread Club is close to where I live and that's bad for my wallet. I genuinely thought it was going to be one of those overhyped, catering-to-the-corporate-crowd new spots in Uptown, and I was very wrong. Pastries: so far I've tried the strawberry rhubarb danish (fire if you like that sweet-tart flavor), kouign-amman (listed as "churro kouign amman" - legit beats Dominique Ansel for me), Religieuse (coffee flavored cream inside - heavy but good for a big dessert). You'll want to come before like 1-2pm for your best chance at a good selection. Definitely want to try more. Food: have tried the prosciutto sandwich (great flavors but the hard bread hurt my mouth) and the breakfast sandwich (I'm usually not passionate about breakfast sandwiches but this is the best I've ever had and I *will* be coming back for this specifically) Drinks: the einspänner slaps and the berry matcha seemed like it was going to be a gimmick but was actually quite good (reminds me of "cereal milk" latte flavor). Prices do feel very NYC/SF (i.e. pretty high), though I have to admit it's largely worth it for the quality. A really nicely decorated store with really nice workers, I went on a Wednesday afternoon around lunchtime and it was so busy with people on their lunch break, etc. so the pick up time was quite long (maybe a 10-15 minute wait). There were a couple tables and booths inside but also a lot of seating outside. Also, there's only one restroom so since it was busy there was a pretty long wait for the restroom as well. I got the Spicy Tuna sandwich and Grilled Cheese sandwich, both were really good. The cashier misheard my friend when we were ordering so they accidentally gave us the Spicy Chicken sandwich (chalked it up to it being really loud inside since it was so busy), and that was also pretty good. this place is more like a like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. heard about this place, since it was located right next to a michelin star restaurant. We came after lunch and there was a line out the door so we had high expectations of this place. After about 20 minutes waiting we were able to get to the front and most of the pastries were sold out except for croissants and this random sweet pastry. I guess we were kind of lucky in the sense that the person right behind us bought the remaining pastries. We also got bread and ordered a sandwich. We also got two drinks. It took a while for everything to come out and I was still waiting around for my sandwich but apparently after 15 minutes of waiting. The people said that they never put in my sandwich order and asked if I wanted to put it in and wait for it... Considering that I was going to get dinner later in the day, I skipped it. I do have to admit pastry and croissants were good but the drinks were just mediocre. They have a few seats inside and you have a few more tables outside. They also have a self-service water fountain area. I think if you're in the area you should check it out and definitely come early. Otherwise everything is going to be sold out. This is the best bread in Dallas by far no one even comes close!! The sesame seed baguette is a French fever dream of joy bringing flashbacks to the Paris streets . I finally decided on the Grilled Cheese with leeks, cheddar, gruyère, mozzarella, and mayo(I'm more of Dijon mustard )but why not . Can I have that on a sourdough/ I didn't read the the bread portion of the menu. Marlon explained about the different types of bread but all I heard was sprouted Q word ( no sourdough, no ciabatta , brioche?? With immediate hesitation but I love a good grill cheese , Marlon was very convincing about his product.. so the grill cheese has been ordered!! I was still a little hesitant about the sandwich maybe I should have said no mayo ... too late the sandwich arrive !!! Great presentation on cool logo paper and nice white plate !! Hot , fresh , great cheese pull , toasted crispy bread but I examined it closely for the sprouted Q? Now listen... I wasn't even sold on the bread at first. But guess who likes--no, LOVESsprouted Quinoa bread now? Yeah. That part surprised me in the best way. The sandwich itself was rich, cheesy, and perfectly balanced, with the leeks adding a nice touch. The space has minimal indoor seating but there is some tables and chairs outside to use! We went on a good day, so we got to enjoy our coffee and pastries outside! I ended up ordering a Horchata Latte with espresso (i am more of a coffee girl) and it was very good! I was pleasantly surprised to see horchata on the menu! They do make most drinks in Matcha as well! I also got an espresso brownie, and it was definitely fudgy! I will say it leans more on the dark chocolate side! I ended up payed around 17ish dollars, which was the only downside. The menu is kinda pricey! Overall, it was a great experience!
