The store had a great selection of curiosities, perfect for kitschy souvenirs. I've even found some great Vietri table wear. The customer service however was awful. They followed the two of around the store the entire time--but only us two not the middle aged or boomers in the store. Apparently being a young adult is suspicious? Nevermind that we were dressed well and classy. It felt like ageism, if not r@cism (since we are minority?) But all three employees (younger than us) were on us as if they expected the worse, and they lacked all tact in their supervision and stares. read more

The Breakers hotel has a number of charming shops and dining options in the Palm Courtyard. This includes the delightful News and Gourmet which offers both a home goods and gift shop and coffee and snacks along with the newspaper. In the morning you can enjoy artisanal coffee, both cold brew and Seattle-style pour over and freshly-baked pastries. For lunch they offer quick, light bites, which include salads, sandwiches and snacks. They even sell cigars and bottles of wine. On the other side is a carefully curated collection of gifts and unique decorative accessories from around the world. Everything is so artfully arranged by type and color scheme. They sell holiday decorations, books, collectibles, dishes, cups, glassware, topiaries, beautifully embroidered dish towels, an assortment of napkin rings, greeting card, note cards, decorative items, glass paper weights, candles, beauty items, and more. I really loved the Palm Beach coloring book. Of course this being The Breakers, items are pricey. A single greeting card was $6. I enjoyed exploring all of the shop items after which I indulged in a croissant and coffee from the food side. You can take your food and drinks out to the Palm Court where there is beautiful landscaping, fountains, and tables and seats. You don't have to be a guest of the resort to come here. The Breakers tries to limit non resort guests during season but if you allow them to scan your license and tell the guards you are coming to eat or shop they will let you in. Guest parking is on your immediate left just after you pass the guards. read more

Visited Briekers News and Gourmet Café on June 11, 2025. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Despite our friendly attitude, Brandon--who was serving at the cashier desk--was noticeably rude and unwelcoming, treating us as though we were an inconvenience. For a place that presents itself as upscale, such poor customer service was both surprising and unacceptable. That said, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the rest of the staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. The food was decent, but the service at the café left a lasting negative impression. read more

Gorgeous location at the classic breakers hotel in West Palm Beach. I would highly recommend a visit even if you were not a hotel guest. The architecture alone is worth the visit and the gardens are stunning. This coffee shop and new stand is a really cute location off of the center courtyard in the hotel and has a great selection of pastries and coffee, it also has some wears for a purchase some books, some dishes, and souvenirs. The coffee and the croissant that we ordered was delicious and it was just so serene to sit in the beautiful gardens by the beach. highly recommend 10 out of 10. read more

I stayed at the Breakers in the early 2000s. I was a struggling junior exec and my company's travel agent (a magical gnome who knew where to stay before the internet gave everything a 4.8 fabulous rating) booked me a room. I pulled up to the majestic front in my rental Oldsmabuick and handed the keys to a valet earning 6-figures. He looked at my duffel bag and cargo shorts much as someone picking up the poop of friend's dog, whom they're walking as a favor. I was Billy Ray Valentine at Duke and Duke. I checked in. Everyone's hair smelled nice. (I surmised) The hotel had 3 pools. The sun adjusted its rays for each pool to cast perfect photo lighting on all of the languid Gatsbys sipping mojitos. The baby soft pool towels had been woven from rare Egyptian cotton-bearing sheep. I can't describe the purity of the room soaps. But they're used pre-surgery. The restaurant bar was peopled with those who'd enjoyed every waking moment of their charmed lives, but whose ribald laughs suggested that this evening was the apotheosis of their families' generational prosperity. I left after a few days understanding - with indelible certainty - who I was not. Fast forward 20 years. I'm old-ish. I work for myself. I listen to R.E.M. but not Green, which is a late sellout album. I don't spend $900/night of my own money on hotels. But I was in Jupiter and needed coffee. Yelp suggested the Breakers. My eyes - dimmed from decades of life - lit up. Coffee at the Breakers! I pulled up to the front gate in my Lego blue rental Chevy Spark and the gatekeeper asked me my business. "I stayed here a few years ago and want to check out the place again." Bafflement. "You want to, like, walk around?" "Mmhmm" "Um. Ok. I.D. Please" He confirmed that I was a certified person capable of securing state-imprimatur'd identification and handed me a parking pass. I could see him in my mirror sweating as if he'd just let a weird guy in a Chevy Spark onto the grounds of the Breakers. I parked next to a pearl Bentley convertible that ran on champagne and bonhomie. I walked onto the grounds. I strode as one who belonged. Which meant sneering at some and thanking others at random. I used the bathroom. The wainscoting of the toilet stall cost more than my new kitchen. Then I went to the newsstand coffee store and ordered coffee and a chocolate croissant. A mere $9. I sat at a table in a light-speckled courtyard a few yards from a track suit clad businesswoman, about my age, whose company evidently had just acquired Belgium in a stock swap. I sipped the hot mochanectar - I'm sure it was from Indonesian beans digested and extruded by civets. Birds conversed politely in the atrium as I opened my laptop and pretended to work. Then 3 children and their millennial parents entered. Each child wore bespoke outfits designed by Ralph Lauren when he stayed at their house the previous month. Each child's hair had been styled and parted and the comb lines of each strand beglowed as if anointed with oils last used to bath Achilles and his mistresses (and male companions) on the eve of battle. The children then began to scream and chase each other. The businesswoman and I exchanged a knowing, helpless glance - "oh those pathetic nouveau families who can't afford to stow their children with the help as they vacation" we both thought. I finished my coffee. I left a tip for - no one in particular. Nodded at the businesswoman. Then I sauntered through the lawn bowling pitch to my car. I drove away, waving at the guard as I made my way to Staples to buy file folders. But I digress. The coffee was quite good and I highly recommend it. read more

On the final morning of our conference, my business associate was in search of a really good cup of coffee during the break, and the staff directed us down to The Breakers News & Gourmet shop to fulfill Larry's needs. This store sits among the various high-end shops in the little on-site shopping mall. The whole area reminded me of a small version of Caesar's Palace Shops in Las Vegas. We walked along past Lilly Pulitzer's women's resort wear, a shoe salon and resort footwear store called "Match", a designer swimwear store with popular European and American styles, a Ralph Lauren showcase store, a jewelry store that looked flat-out dangerous, and the Signature Shop which is where you'll find contemporary-styled men's and women's resort wear adorned with The Breakers' logo. There is also a Pro Shop near the golf course, and a Beach Shop located near the Ocean Grill. Finally towards the end of the hallway we discovered The Breakers News & Gourmet shop which is Palm Beach's foremost exclusive gift store. It is a combination of home gallery and café, offering a delicious selection of the Breakers' own premium coffees and candies plus an extensive collection of metal art ware from Michael Aram and Mariposa. You'll see Italian and French pottery, candles, soaps, and unusual gifts for friends back home. They have international newspapers and all of the various financial dailies to enjoy whilst sipping tea in the adjacent Palm Courtyard. They also serve pastries, sandwiches, salads, and beverages (soft drinks, beer, wine). Larry found some exotic freshly ground and roasted coffee, and I grabbed a bottle of water. We sat outside and soaked up some sunshine before our final session at the conference, and then back up the road towards Tampa. read more

The Breakers has a beautiful bar / lounge that overlooks the ocean. The bar is called the "fish bar" because the bar tops are aquariums showing tropical fish swimming by as you sip on a delicious cocktail. Heads up,... it is The Breakers so please come with a healthy wallet or a credit card. Totally worth the extra expense to be in such a phenomenal architecturally beautiful hotel. If you're lucky enough to be staying at The Breakers I highly recommend this place for some coffee and a quick breakfast. The other breakfast options at the resort can get expensive but the Breakers News isn't that bad. They pour a quality cup of coffee and have some small breakfast options like cereal, muffins, yogurt, etc. Nothing too crazy but a nice little retreat in the resort. I have always loved the breakers hotel. Everything about it I love. The newsstand coffee shop / gift store is no exception. Its quiet, serene and very relaxing to bike here and park your bike, grab a coffee, find an outside table and then just read the paper or people watch. They have little munchy things to nibble on here, but I suggest going to the little take out cafe in the hotel and getting one of those breakfast pastries before 12pm. read more

Here's a little tip. On the grounds of the Breakers Hotel, there is this little "newstand" thing they run which, in addition to newspapers, magazines, etc., they sell pre-made sandwiches, salads and soups. Everything is made "to go", so after you make your selection, walk right outside and sit down at one of the comfy chairs they have available and watch the croquet players on the lawn in front of you while you eat your lunch. One of the nicest things you can do at this world class resort and also one of the least expensive. Sssh...keep this one a secret. Mustn't let the riffraff in. read more

Best coffee on the island and incredible pastries. This is in the breakers hotel and The courtyard is maybe my favorite place on earth. Great place to read, relax and just hangout.
