Even though there was a line one of the bussers asked how many were in your party and kept you aware of what the wait was and when a table was ready. Due to the anxiety of having to stand in line in a very tight space for seating is the only reason for four out of five stars. The food was phenomenal. I got the big breakfast with blueberry pancakes. No complaints at all. I get my eggs over medium and they were cooked to perfection which is unusual. The pancakes were delicious. If you have the chance to get the chocolate mousse muffin I strongly recommend! The waitress was kind, knowledgeable and efficient. I like trying as many restaurants in the area I live in and even though it's on the other end of town, my husband and I came here for a late breakfast. We were warmly welcomed by a young man and he also was our waiter and he was very attentive and polite! He brought our food fast and stayed on top of the coffee. Really cute diner vibes inside. I had the plain French toast and ordered a side of scrambled eggs with cheese and toast and my husband had the big breakfast with a side of the best home fries you will ever have! I have been going to the Breakfast Nook since the late 80's. It is my gold standard for breakfast places, based mostly on the way they make their home fries. I was so sad when their Wakefield location closed. Patty and the staff there were super friendly and made my family welcome anytime we came in. I am happy that the other location remains. My go-to order is the Breakfast Special. It comes with 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and toast. It is just solid and, most importantly, not fancy. A standard breakfast should not be fancy. No extra spices! Your pallet needs time to wake up. This isn't brunch! The aforementioned home fries are flavored with onions and have been keeping warm on the grill, simmering all morning. They are just how I like them. The eggs, meat, and toast are always cooked well and if you like you bacon a little on the cripy side, they will keep them on the grill a little longer. The staff is always friendly, even when they are busy, and keep your coffee filled the entire time you are there. You can do a lot worse for breakfast! read more

My husband went to meet his friend this morning for breakfast. He arrived first, and they refused to seat him until his friend arrived. It wasn't busy and there were several empty tables. He has some physical restraints and is a senior, so this was not a good greeting. When his friend arrived they were seated at a booth, which had a low hanging light. My husband is tall and hit his head on the light. His head was cut and began to bleed. He asked his server for a bandaid. She returned saying the manager said bandaids were for employees only. He asked to see the manager. The manager refused to speak to him. My husband and his friend got up and left. I am beyond upset by this type of service. I was in the service industry my whole life and this is by far the worst service I ever have heard about. The manager needs to find another job! He also happens to be the owner. read more

This was my third visit here, and none were impressive, unfortunately. The waitress is friendly and does have to serve the entire restaurant, so there is no change to say more than a word or two, to her. I have tried an omelette, a breakfast special and today, the peanut butter pancakes. Now we're very tasty or outstanding. The peanut butter pancakes were the worst: there was not even a hint of peanut butter in or on them. They tasted like regular, tasteless pancakes. I had to use a lot of butter and syrup (I prefer to pay more and have the option of 'real' maple syrup) to get them down my throat. They were very dry. I could have used more hot coffee, but it was not offered, and the mugs are too small. With so many wonderful breakfast places in RI, I will not be back here for another try. Not child friendly. Only a select few tables allow for a high chair. Their offer to accommodate for this, is a small old plastic booster seat. If you place the booster seat on a booth it is not level and flat and the child can't reach the table. There is no safety strap. I had to hold him on my lap which left me one hand to eat breakfast. We ended up getting our food to go and eating it in the car. Our waitress didn't seem to care about my plight. At all. The blueberry muffin was dry and tasteless. If you don't have a small child and enjoy cramped seating, bland food and uncaring waitstaff, then this is the place for you. read more

Very cramped seating and uncomfortable booths. They are old, made for stick people and the tables aren't level. The eggs Benedict and corned beef hash were good. Omelette was average. We were just so uncomfortable having to squeeze into our booth then eat on a slanted table it was not enjoyable to dine there. They could really use a total remodel or expansion. read more

We absolutely love this place! Patty, our server, is super friendly and efficient. My husband had sausage patties and eggs and was thrilled, and I had the French Toast Special which had strawberries, blueberries and bananas and it was the thick French Toast. In the past, a decent breakfast was to be found here. Recently, batting zero. My "french toast" was supposed to be made using what's called "Texas toast," a thicker, more substantial bread. Instead, I got a plain piece of what appeared to be plain old white bread, that hadn't been soaked in any egg or other batter. Topping was supposed to be "apple cinnamon;" apples yes (out of a can); cinnamon - no. I asked the waitress , who was nice and attentive - her excuse: we're understaffed. My wife's a vegetarian and ordered a veggie omelet. I guess the cook added in the piece of pork (bacon? ham?) as flavorful (and surely unwelcome) gift. Might want to ask (before ordering) if they are fully staffed that day, otherwise no telling what will end up in your plate. It might be smarted to just go somewhere else, period. read more

I eat breakfast here seven days a week. I always eat the New York steak and eggs. They are the best restaurant within 50 miles of where I live. They're open every morning at 6 AM except Sunday they're open at 7 AM. I've tried other breakfast restaurants in the area but I keep coming back to The Breakfast Kook. read more

This is my third time eating here and they don't disappoint. They have excellent parking which is a rarity in the area, but something that matters to me. The waitstaff is friendly and today was no exception. The last two times I was here during the busy weekends and they had themes like crazy hair day and crazy hat day, so they like to have fun. Solid food, friendly staff, lots of choices, reasonable prices. . . what's not to like? We've been three times in the space of a week and a day, the first time because they were the only breakfast place open nearby when one of the many snowstorms of this winter was roaring through. I've been driving past this place every day and always wondered what it was like inside. Given it's small-from-the -outside appearance, and given how the parking lot of the weekend always seems to be full, we were afraid that it would be chock full of regulars, and noobs like us would be made to feel unwelcome. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. . . well, there have been regulars every time we've been there, but we were made to feel welcome from the get go. We've only been for breakfast and haven't tried the lunch yet, but the breakfast offerings range from the standard two eggs and toast, to fancy-schmancy omelettes or pancakes, to some pretty neat specials. I've had the biscuits and sausage gravy (a special), eggs benedict over hash (special), and a standard two-eggs, home fries and sausage and bacon breakfast. All were yummy. My wife has tried the peanut butter pancakes, a mushroom and cheese omelette, and the same omelette made into a breakfast wrap. She liked all of her selections as well. We've gone early enough each of the times we've been so that there hasn't been a wait. I understand that there can be a wait later in the morning. Prices are a little less than the next closest breakfast place, and I think the serving sizes are similar, maybe a wee bit smaller, but I could stand to avoid the larger-than-needed serving sizes at some places anyway. The food at the Nook is decent, nothing special. They have a big selection which is a plus. The first time I went, the service was okay. Slow, but not unbearable. This weekend I went and the place was not empty, but not packed by any means. Our waitress came by once, dropped off our food and then we could not get a hold of her after that. She was chattin' it up with her coworkers and could not be bothered with us. Who doesn't love going out for breakfast? It is my favorite meal to eat out, no joke; making some eggs at home can be a pain. I frequently break the yoke on my over easy eggs, folding over an omelet can be a complete nightmare, and who owns a waffle iron these days. The food is always consistently good, just what you would expect from a diner like place such as this. I do caution that if you go during peak times you more than likely will have to wait. The staff has always been very friendly and personable each time I've been there. Sometimes, like today maybe a little too friendly, the busboy had a table of friends right behind mine. Unfortunately, this had him standing right at my side for longer than I was comfortable with, it also meant that he wasn't bussing tables while there were at least 5 or 6 people waiting for the majority of the time I was there (including an elderly woman). I was disappointed that no one noticed that they had been at that table waiting for someone for 40 minutes. I know this because they told the person who arrived to join them, they had been waiting that long. They also had only just put in their order. Went there yesterday for breakfast. Had to wait for service and the place was pretty much empty. When I reach to hand my husband menu I saw a bunch of small ants. Told the waitress who had finally come over to take our order and she said oh we just got that taken care of! Ordered a breakfast sandwich that came out wrong. Ham instead of bacon. This was a last-minute decision to stop in here on the hunt for a good breakfast place. We were pleasantly surprised that it was not crowded, we got to sit down anywhere. Wait staff was friendly and the menu offers a good variety for breakfast and lunch. There are some great specials. I ordered the breakfast special which had two eggs bacon two sausages and home fries which you can add on for a little extra and it also came with toast. It was a large portion and everything was delicious! My husband and I both had coffee and after looking around for a bit I noticed they had a seasonal flavor called witches brew. I was told this was a vanilla chai flavor, the waitress topped off the coffee I already had with the witches brew flavor and after trying it, I realized that the next time I am definitely getting the witches brew! Pretty small yet good place. Service was excellent although it was a slow snowy morning. Food was good, nothing to brag about but good tasting. Limt on 1 coffee refill for 1.79 but waitress kept filling me up anyway without charge so that was good.
