    Big stack with bacon

Tucked into a random parking lot in Spring is the most unassuming breakfast place we've seen to date. Appropriately named 'The Breakfast Place', the restaurant is serving up delicious, filling, and cheap food. We have come here quite a few times when visiting family and always go out of our way to stop by. The setting is quant and cozy and the service is downright fantastic. Every time you enter you are greeted with a big smile and beaming attitude that make you feel like you're a long lost family member or you just returned a wallet with a thousand bucks in it. The menu is pretty straightforward and standard with a few country breakfast options sprinkled in. We ordered pretty quick and got our food before we even had a chance to get hungry. We got the country fried steak with eggs, white toast and hash browns plus an order of the big stack pancakes with bacon. The pancakes are good, better than chain breakfast spots, and the bacon is good as well. The country fried steak was delicious, although a bit tough in a few spots with a delicious country gravy on top. The toast, hash browns, and eggs were also good. We've ordered a lot of other dishes from here in the past but don't have photos of them unfortunately, but they were certainly good enough to have us coming back. We ordered some coffee and in a testament to the service never made it past halfway drank, not once. Look, the food here is pretty good. We see a lot of reviews here ragging on the food and let's be very honest, if you're coming here looking to find out the reason why your 7th grade boyfriend dumped you, you're not gonna find it and you look pretty dumb for expecting to. This is a straight up mom and pop southern diner, a good one at that. The prices are cheap (or maybe we're just from Austin), the service is good, and the workers truly seem to care. For the value it offers, alongside the food and service, we highly recommend stopping by The Breakfast Place. Also, if you're complaining about egg prices (see reviews below) maybe read a book or turn on the news and see what's going on in the world.

It's been a while since I've come here. I stopped as it was on my way back home from an appointment on that side of town. I forgot how great the home cooking food is here. I couldn't understand why you didn't have a better rating. Yes sometimes the weight is a little long but today it wasn't. I got the grits. I got the sausage biscuits and gravy and it didn't disappoint. The biscuits are so soft and I love white gravy and I'm very picky about it so again did not disappoint. Coffee is good here for those who are a coffee snob like myself. I actually had 2 cups. It's so funny because we can't ever remember the name of this place because we've always called it. The rooster place. When you see the giant rooster out front, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I highly recommend it. It's a little cute country place tucked in the corner.

I was in the area searching for a simple place to eat some good breakfast food and stumbled upon this place. Being fully transparent, I looked at the outside and it gave me that country, country feel so I had second thoughts, but hunger overrode my thought process and I stopped. Now before I walk towards and open the door, I am looking through the windows at a couple of patrons. I open the door a few people look at me, I look at them and they continue eating and conversating. At this time, I am at the hostess location and she comes from the back smiling and offered a very Texas Good Morning. I am seated at a table near the front window. I did not have anything to worry about, the other patrons seemed easy going and my server was energetic. Unfortunately, after I drank half my coffee and took two bites of food I had to leave for an unexpected appointment, but before going I told myself if the food tasted that good after two bites I need to order some more so in addition to my food being packaged I ordered another breakfast meal for the following day to save time. Breakfast was very satisfying for the next two mornings.

The breakfast place is a small diner setting that stays busy. It's open from breakfast to brunch hours, is you like to sleep in but still want breakfast. The food to me was average, but it didn't blow me away as anything special. The bacon, eggs and toast were good. The hashbrowns were bland and very chopped up. I am a potato lover and that's the only thing I did not eat on my plate. They do offer a wide array of breakfast options. Would I wait for a spot just to eat here when it's busy? Probably not.

Quaint breakfast spot that reminded me of home cooked meals and breakfast at Grandma's house! They provide a cute breakfast nook ambiance complete with rooster and diner decor! I love their build your own omelette plate because they had a good variety of options available to add. Their patty sausage was amazing and the hash browns hit the spot. I was also pleasantly surprised by the affordability of many dishes. Parking onsite - although parking might be more difficult on the weekends/early mornings. Do note that they close at 2pm! If you're looking to add a new go-to breakfast spot, this is the place!

This place is a hidden gem! Just look for the GIANT ROOSTER in front! Despite the bustling atmosphere, it's clear why there's always a crowd. The popularity is a testament to their quality. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an energetic vibe that sets the tone for a great experience. The food/service lives up to the hype. Love the pancakes and chicken fried steak...can't forget the grits!! Homemade comfort food :) While you might have to wait for a table, it's well worth it. The busy nature of the place ensures everything is fresh and the staff is on their toes. If you're looking for a lively spot that locals clearly love, this is it.

The food is good, however my son found an eye lash in his grits and the waitress made it seem as if I placed it into the food myself.

Updating my review!…read more My mom, husband, and I went this morning for breakfast and to start off the place wasn't as packed we found a booth pretty quick. It did take a while for anyone to attend us, I had to ask someone for menus and to take our drinks. My mom ordered the chicken fried steak and the waiter seemed a bit confused on what the menu said. My mom was confused too because on the menu it had two of the same name items with different prices. Anyway he took her order and he put in for the " country fried steak" as he called it and she also asked for the gravy on the side. My husband and I ordered waffles combo plates and my husband asked for a side of bacon. When the food arrived the gravy was on my mom's food when she asked for it on the side and she asked to get it replaced. She got it back and once she started cutting it it's was actually chicken fried chicken. She didn't want to ask to take it back so she just ate it. The good thing is she said her meal was delicious even though she didn't get exactly what she wanted. She also very much enjoyed the coffee. When it came to my mine and my husbands meal the sausage on his plate looked pale as if it was left on the grilled for one minute each side so we asked if it could be slightly more cooked and we're super grateful that the waiter took it back and brought crisper sausage linked on our plate. Now the only other disappointment from my husband's meal is that he never got his extra bacon instead he was brought extra sausage links. We didn't want to send it back either so we just kept it and he ate that. Overall all the food was amazing just wish everything was given to us the way we ordered it in the beginning. I would still go back and eat there.

We arrived around 11 and they were semi busy. Smaller spot in a mini strip mall with booth/counter/regular seating and black/white square flooring. Daily specials (M-F) are atavailable. We all ordered Omelettes with chocolate chip and plain pancakes to share. My Avocado Omelette (swapped Chorizo for shrimp-yes!) was delicious. And filled with slightly spicy Chorizo, mushroom, onions to name a few. The Meat Lover and Chicken Fajita were also tasty. Stuffed and generous portions. Pancakes were the perfect compliment and were also delicious! Our server and the entire staff were engaged and upbeat despite working on a Holiday. They were closing at 1 so we made it just in time. Make a stop at this Gem for some Diner deliciousness!

It's cleaner, nicer, and feels more welcoming as soon as you walk in. The atmosphere alone makes it a much more enjoyable place to eat. The service was also a big improvement. The staff here were friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. It felt like they actually cared about the customers and wanted you to have a good experience. What surprised me the most was the food. It's the exact same menu as the original location, but somehow it tasted better here. Everything came out fresh, hot, and really well prepared. I'll be honest, I had a pretty bad experience at the original location before, which made me hesitant to try this one. But I'm really glad I did because it completely changed my opinion. At this point, I may never go back to the original location again--but I will definitely be coming back to this one. Highly recommend giving this location a try.

The menu options are huge in this diner and I really wasn't sure quite what to expect. Good news was our welcoming waitress named Candyce who was very friendly, answered questions and made suggestions. Mr. Picky has a sweet tooth and wanted to order just pancakes, but I bullied him into ordering one of their FIT omelettes (shrimp and avocado) and then they very kindly substituted two pancakes for the side of fruit. I was eyeballing the Reuben on the menu and when I asked the waitress to name her favorites, that was one of them and so I went ahead and ordered it with fried zucchini and onion rings. The latter two fried things we both liked, the Reuben was just average, but the omelette was loaded with mushrooms and onions which helped make it taste good (the kitchen did a good job on that omelette to put lots of stuff on it and send it to the table looking substantial and tasty). As they close at 3 PM, they don't have desserts at this particular location, and so we shared the Strawberry cheesecake pancakes to finish the meal. Overall, this is not a "4.7" level restaurant but that was on only 12 reviews. I might stop in again if I was running down Kuykendahl and needed a quick bite, but the good news was the price. We got all that food for $39.20 plus tip, a really great deal, and our waitress was great!

At least not enjoy spending it. But with prices these days getting way out of hand what can you do. I got the rattlesnake because I saw it touted as their award winning burger. Not sure from where the award came. But this and their trash can tacos had the emblem next to it. You also get a veggie pack with your to-go burger which has chopped lettuce, pickles, raw onions and 2 slices of tomatoes. That's nice so you don't have to put on the required latex gloves to use their veggie bar to get these yourselves. It's in a separate bag. I thought this was the buger at first and was secretly getting a bit concerned when I saw the cook toss it onto the counter like a bean bag. The cashier was super nice. He offered me water as I waited. They had another guy working in the back cooking the food. You also get a thimble of ketchup in your Togo bag along with a packet of mustard and mayo. The bun was a little burnt. And I couldn't taste any of the mixed in jalapeños. Also I kinda wish they had whole lettuce rather than chopped just because it kept falling out of the burger. But other than these issues the burger was pretty tasty. Definitely not a McDonald's burger like one person posted. But also not the best burger ever as many other posters swear by. Definitely glad I went. But don't know if I'd be willing to spend another $20 on one of their Burgers either. They're closed on Sundays according to Google maps which is old school nice to see.
