Really enjoyed our meal a McGill's recently! We had the special- Parmesan crusted halibut, with veggies and rice, as well as the steak with the bleu cheese cream sauce + fries. Everything was delicious and well cooked. The restaurant was dark and a little cramped- not because it was busy (it wasn't), but because the booths just didn't offer much space. That, in addition to the fact that they still have their plastic Covid dividers up between booths, made it feel a smidge claustrophobic. I have a hard time imagining people on the larger side would feel comfortable sitting in one. We also had 2 drinks: a Negroni and a cucumber jalapeño margarita. Neither were anything special to be honest. At $14, I'd expect it to taste a little more authentic but it seemed like it might have been a margarita mix. The service was excellent, I think our waitress was Lauren, and she was super attentive and friendly! We will return but probably skip the bar drinks next time! read more

Low on my list of restaurants to try, I have avoided McGill's because of its ratings. The restaurant has received some harsh reviews, earning a 3.4 rating on Yelp and 4.3 on Google. Not a stellar rating for a restaurant desiring to project an upscale, sophisticated, fine dining experience. An in-depth look at the reviews revealed a lot of bitchin' from Google reviewers that were charged a $3 empty plate fee. Many patrons brought birthday cake into the restaurant expecting to use the restaurant's waitstaff and dishwashing service for free. I side with the restaurant on this issue. They tie up tables, and use the services. A charge is reasonable. On the Yelp side, older dated reviews complain of food quality and service, which drug the rating down. Most recent reviews on Google are very positive. McGill's for lunch today. 12 noon, the restaurant was half empty. Greeting us, the host questioned if we had reservations. Fortunately, they were able to squeeze us in. Quickly escorted to a booth. The upscale atmosphere: decor, lighting, and ambiance, made a positive impression. Within seconds Katie, one of the smartly dressed wait staff was at our table, greeting us, delivering menus and taking our drink orders. The service was excellent throughout the meal. House salad and French onion soup for me. A California Cob for my wife. Had to try the deviled Eggs. All good. The lunch menu offers a variety that should satisfy anyone. The service is fast. Try lunch. My only complaint was the strong fish odor emanating from the kitchen, invading the dining room. An unpleasant aroma that doesn't complement fine dining. read more

This is the first time at McGill's. The restaurant is later out very nice and has a very cozy atmosphere. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable when we asked about the special of the day and helpful in making our selection. The calamari was a perfect start with Cajun dip. I had the Pasta Lobster, which was good, but it was swimming is sauce. The flavors were good though. My wife had the Prime Rib which was excellent, cooked to perfection. Overall, a good experience. Hadn't been to McGill's in some years and decided to go try them out again. I was able to reserve my seat on a Saturday evening at 7:45 with hardly any issues. The restaurant was clean, we were greeted and seated promptly upon arriving. Through the entire stay, we were treated well with great service. I ended up ordering the bone in rib-eye with a loaded baked potato and my date ordered NY strip with the vegetables. Both of our steaks were cooked per our request and had a great flavor that was juicy and prepared just right. Overall I had a great experience and would recommend their business anytime with reasonable prices. read more

We had our first experience at Mcgills for our 12 year anniversary and it was very pleasant. We were told happy anniversary from the host which was nice. Our waiter was also very observant and nice. He kept our table clean and didn't over do it so we could enjoy our dinner together. The food was delicious and my husbands steak was so rare just like he likes it!! I might have ate more of his steak then my chicken! The carrot cake was also very good! The dim lighting and soft music was very enjoyable for our special occasion. Part of the retirement tour... Upon retirement, my husband got a variety of gift cards to different steak houses in Tulsa and this was our 3rd stop on the retirement tour . Things started out rough, mostly because the service was odd. We got there early (hubs is over the top when evaluating "the traffic")l so checked in with hostess and said we'd have a drink in the bar while we waited. At which point the hostess stared at us like we were speaking a foreign language and just shrugged. At the bar I ordered a Pineapple Upside Down Cake martini and it was fabulous but we had a weird experience with the bartender there too. After making our drinks, she came out from behind the bar and sat at the bar with a guy I assume was a regular and chatted with him for about 15 minutes while we were trying to pay our check. When we finally got to our table, the weirdness continued for a bit. We literally sat there for 20 minutes. (I timed it) before a waitress came and greeted us, asked how we were doing, and asked about appetizers. Things did improve after that, once we ordered, our waitress was attentive and helpful, and the food was pretty good. I loved my steak: I had the ribeye and it was delicious. I ordered the asparagus instead of the mixed vegetables which was mistake - there is an up charge and the asparagus definitely wasn't worth it. But all in all, good food which is the most important thing, delicious cocktails which are also important, but weird service that dropped them to 4 stars overall (would probably be a 3.5 if we could give half stars). read more

Had an amazing experience here with a friend. We shared a spinach salad with chicken added (+ $6). It was drenched with a vinaigrette dressing that was perfectly made to taste where it wasn't too oily or too much vinaigrette. The added chicken... They were definitely not skimp on it. We also had the calamari. It was perfectly lightly battered and fried crispily. The dipping sauce was just right but not really needed because it was that good. So good that my friend who is a picky eater, ate it with me. We ended our unexpected luncheon with a creme brulee. Not too sweet, perfectly seared on top, and just right. Will not order fish here. I did not like both the orange roughy and trout almondine. Both dishes taste kind of sweet, and the Orange roughy is a little fishy. I couldn't eat the skin of the trout. 9 of us met here for dinner after my grandfathers funeral last night. It was nice that they put us in the private room so all of us could chat freely. Staff were extremely nice and prompt when taking orders and keeping drinks filled. I would even go at far to say that they were some of the best we have had in a long time. We ordered 3 orders of the deviled eggs they were awesome. Salads were pretty good as well. I ordered the prime rib but was disappointed in the fact that over half of it was fat. I have made it my mission to test every steak in Tulsa, and I cannot let A5 slide. I know A5 is all about the fat, and I had never had one as a rib eye before so I wanted to try it. It was good! Around $250 (I believe), and it is a treat. I would not purchase it again, but it was worth the try as all A5 is. The Firecracker Chicken is incredible! I do not recall all the ingredients, but I would order it as a meal or even make the trip to McGill's just for it. Loved it! Service staff is quite friendly, and everything was done in a timely fashion. The ambience of it is not my favorite, but it is still quite nice. I ordered a steak to be cooked medium and it was served raw. They brought it back to the kitchen to be cooked again and returned it rare. They offered to cook it a third time, however, I declined. I was afraid it would be too dry at that point. They never offered a new steak or asked if I would like a menu to order something different. They suggested a salad. I was very disappointed. Our server was so full of energy and gave us all the specials and even suggested a wine after we were deadlocked in which one to pick. We reserved dinner here for my MILs bday as she loves steak. Our party of 7 had a reservation at 820p but was running a little behind as we were leaving an event and I didn't get to call and let them know (I take responsibility for that), so they broke down the table thinking we were not coming. We arrived at 835p. The owner (?) was accommodating and reset the table. They close at 10pm so it wasn't like we were came right at close. There was only one other party (of 6) there, with no one else at all, which was a bit shocking. There were other steakhouses in town, but reservations were booked, so I figured it couldn't be terrible based on the ratings I saw online. Our waitress seemed fine but a little aloof. Didn't seem too engaged with us. We ordered the calamari and spinach dip for appetizers. The dip was delicious! However, the chips to dip ratio was off (need more chips, esp for larger party; or maybe offer more?) The calamari was not very flavorful according to the fam. And the portion was tiny! Like really tiny. We felt the 2 large lemon wedges took up most of the plate space. My husband and I as vegetarians ordered salads and sides. We understand not much to eat at a steakhouse for vegetarians :) The asparagus was fine. The Caprese salad was ok. Didn't have much balsamic glaze on it so it lacked flavor. Just a few big pieces of cheese and tomatoes. The house salad my husband got was ok but drenched in dressing and the French onion soup ok but very salty. The rest of the family got steaks which was generally enjoyed bc they were so hungry, however, salty. Ribeye was a favorite overall. Steaks were cooked well across the board though. I appreciate the owners' kindness to seat us, but everything else seemed lackluster. Hoping it was just a bad evening? Oh, and I was slightly disappointed. I had stated on the reservation we were celebrating my MILs 60th bday. And again in conversation in front of the waitress. Maybe I should've directed her for a surprise dessert, but I figured context clues and stating in reservation would suffice. I feel most other restaurants do a great job of surprising guests. Tulsa friends- please don't waste your time at this location! Cliff notes: there overcooked food did not compensate for the even worse service. This is not the McGills I remember- hopefully the other locations haven't gone downhill like this. -restaurant was not busy AT ALL and we had to ASK for the following things (all while making eye contact with multiple people who never came over): water, menus, any specials?, check, boxes -who is our server? The bartender who never told us her name, didn't bring menus, and whose mask wasn't covering her face. No introductions. Servers were far too busy crowded at the end of the bar together to notice or care about customers. -employee (possibly manager???) was sitting at the bar in workout clothes. She answered the phone, went behind the bar, refilled her drink from over the bar, and complained loudly about having micro manage the employees. -manager on duty asked how everything was while our mouths were full. I'd been trying to make eye contact and get her attention to let her know my food was over cooked and the service was terrible. By the end of our meal she was sitting at the bar on her phone. There are many GREAT steakhouses in Tulsa- this isn't one of them! Please support business in Tulsa that take PRIDE in their food and the quality of service. It was very tasty, however we were both SHOCKED when the bill came and saw this daily special was $46!!! For breaded halibut?!?? Plus they charged me an extra $4 to change from the daily veggie to the steamed broccoli. I thought that was a bit over the top when paying $46 for a meal. That did not include anything else other than the fish and 2 sides!! It was good, but for that price I will not come back nor will I rate the restaurant too high. My wife and I ate dinner here this evening and the ambiance was great as always. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. Adam was our server and greeted us and took our drink order and salad order. We received our salads in short order and began to eat. About half way through our salads I said to my wife, I wonder where our wine is. Adam had been back and forth past our table a few times, but had said nothing. I finally stopped him on his way by and said do you know where our wines are and it was as if I woke him up and he hurried off and came right back with them as he had forgotten us. Then we got our dinners which were very good as usual, but Adam never came back to see if we needed anything else or more wine. When we were done he boxed up my wife's shrimp then came right back and gave them to me and not her which was odd. He told her that I looked hungrier than her??? Last, but not least, he brought the check to us and I opened it and it was not ours, so I had to flag him down again and tell him that it wasn't our check! WOW!! First visit today We were right at the end of lunch so we could choose from either menu. I had a Cesar salad, ribeye, asparagus, and our table had calamari and bruschetta as appetizers. Cesar salad- very tangy dressing. Almost too much so. Asparagus- very plain with no seasoning. Apparently steamed only. Lacked any pizazz. Steak- cooked as I ordered, quite tender and juicy, but was missing a woodsy or peppery seasoning. I felt it needed something. (I don't put steak sauces on my steak) I'll give it 7/8 out 10 but certainly needs some flavoring up next level. read more

Happy hour comes with half priced appetizers that are all cooked really well. They have excellent options! I've have their lobster steak entree that comes perfectly cooked. At both locations I've had consistent dining experiences but I prefer the Yale/61 location because it's easier to get to after work. Love their bar area and wine selection as well. read more

Ive reviewed McGills before rather harshly bc our waiter was more interested in tv than us on our wedding anniversary. All is now forgiven bc Monday night we has a (spectacular) business dinner! We were served perfect steaks, delicious seafood. SUPERB service. Maybe Mahogany's across the street now made McGills more competitive?!
