We were seated quickly and nice young lady gave us menus and took our drink order which was delivered quickly. Another lady took our order. My wife ordered an omelet and I ordered the country fried steak. Both came with hash browns, biscuits, and gravy. The order was delivered within about 5-7 minutes. Food was hot and fresh. My wife really enjoyed her omelet and the rest of her meal. My country fried steak was hot and the gravy was very good. I didn't enjoy the biscuits or hash browns as much as she did but I'm very picky with biscuits. They were soft, fluffy, and fresh. I like my biscuits with a little more texture (crisp) and these were fall apart soft. Again, they weren't bad but had a good taste. Just not my preference for a biscuit. The only negative was the price. It's a tad expensive but what isn't these days. Since we were just passing through the area, I admit maybe it is in line with other diners in the area. This café is right out of the 60s. You can sit at the counter or at a table. They tend to move the tables around to accommodate whatever size your party is and it seems to work for them. The food was hot and plentiful although I felt it was rather bland. The weight staff were fabulous, full of smiles and very eager to serve. read more

My husband I would eat a lot. Haven't been in a while so decided to stop in for breakfast. To say it was horrible is an understatement! He ordered the Oklahoma omelette which should be packed with all your meats, his had a little meat on 2nd layer and was mainly egg. My white toast tasted like bug spray, my western omelette was good until I got toward the end and it had meat it in that doesn't come in a western omelette. I don't know if they went under new owners, but it certainly wasn't the place it used to be. We would eat there often and never had a bad meal until now. This review is for the Freeway Cafe on the west side of Tulsa. We generally frequent the 4th place restaurant because it is closer to our home. I want to compare the quality of food and service between both restaurants I have been coming to Freeway Cafe sense they opened over twenty years ago at 51st. & Hw169. There was and still is a large menu to choose from. The food and service was five star. However I've noticed a decline in the quality of food at the 4th place restaurant. The East side onion rings have been burnt for several months. Even though this appetizer is a large portion the price recently jumped $3.00/order. One week ago I ordered the onion rings appetizer & broasted chicken dinner. My wife ordered a vegetable dinner. The onion rings came out burnt as expected. The broasted chicken came out so burnt that it could not be eaten. Normally the broasted chicken is an average size bird. I actually asked our waitress if this was a Quail, because it was so small. I know restaurants have good days and once in awhile a bad day. However this restaurant is having more bad days than good. West Tulsa restaurant no longer sells Broasted chicken. So I ordered the rotisserie half chicken with mashed potatoes, salad and brown beens. My wife ordered the veggie plate with salad, mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, brown beens and okra. We also ordered the Eastside onion rings. The onion rings were good, the salads were lettuce only with salad dressing but was ok. The rotisserie chicken was good. However everything else was so cold they couldn't be eaten. Example: the turkey gravy was so cold that it turned to gelatin YUK! The service was ok but nothing great Summary: both restaurants have some major issues that need to be addressed. The biggest issue starts with poor management. Server No clue. Didn't say her name. But she's the only gal in here waiting tables. Considering she's by herself, she's quite efficient. Her name is Sabrina. Ambiance It's a classic car themed burger shop. There's Country muzak playing. To be fair, there's a whole lot more than just burgers. Food The food is above average. The spaghetti was accompanied by a good tasting salad and very good garlic toast; it all was very good. The patty melt smelt and tasted good to very good. The fries on the other hand left a lot to be desired. Definitely the worst part of this plate. They didn't taste as though the were fully cooked. Some of the middles were cold some were much harder than they should be. Overall I didn't see the staff sanitizing tables after each guest leaves. Nor should we be charged for tips when we check out of which the money doesn't go to my waitress, my service is first then after I'm served I decide on the tip not the company. Prices keep going up then you expect me to pay more in a tip no way am I tipping 20 to 30% on a meal that has already gone up several times and then get bad service to! read more

I have been here a few times now and its not bad. The inside reminds me of a classic diner. The food is good, not amazing, but for the good price and plate full of food you get, its worth going back. They have a daily rolling menu of 15+ specials everyday and the regular menu has 50+ more selections. One can almost find anything they want to eat here. There is also a wide selection of fresh made pies in the case as well as a literal plate sized cinnamon roll, which is delicious. If your ever over this way and in the mood for some down home food that will please everybody, come over and give it a try. read more

For the second visit in a row, the staff started mopping while we were eating. The cleaner is so strong it kills your appetite and burns your eyes. This is not a rookie mistake. The owner who has three of these locations was in the dining room while it was taking place. However, the food is satisfying while you can eat it. And the menu is expansive. Very casual atmosphere. Holy cow. This place is legit. I had never been to a Freeway Cafe before, but now I.AM.A.FAN. When I visited this past Sunday, the location has only been open for a few days, but the parking lot was still packed. Obviously its reputation precedes it! During this trip, I tried the popcorn shrimp, onion rings, broasted chicken (OMG. GET THIS. It's basically fried chicken.), Denver omelette, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and their chocolate pie. Everything was delicious and brought out SUPER, PIPING HOT. Like burn your fingers on the fried chicken hot. It was amazing. Prices are totally reasonable. The broasted chicken is HALF A FRIED CHICKEN + 2 sides + a roll for $10 (and it was enough to feed 2 people). Service was great, as well. read more

II usually love coming to Freeways, but tonight wasn't one of them. First of all, they don't follow the cdc guidelines. There isn't a sign required to wear a mask at all. So, every customer that comes in don't wear one. All the waitresses, are wearing their mask under their nose, not covering that up. They might as well not wearing one, if they do that. They don't do social distancing either. Anyone can sit anywhere, some people came in , and sat right by the booth behind us. That definitely wasn't six feet apart. If fact my boyfriend can touch the lady behind him. I ordered the grilled pork chops, mash potatoes and gravy, corn, and apple sauce. Usually everything is good, this time my mashed potatoes & gravy, were cold, they were lumpy, and tasted horrible. The pork chops were okay, but I think they were fried, not grilled or seasoned. For some reason, the food just wasn't what it used to be. I see new people all around. I wasn't comfortable eating there. With all this coronavirus going around, you'd think this restaurant would be more cautious, for their customers. As a cautious person, I really look at restaurants, and how they are doing the social distancing, following the cdc guidelines, and how they are cleaning & sanitizing. We stopped by this restaurant on our way out of town. Freeway Cafe was a very unexpected treat. I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans with a dinner roll. I also had a cup of creamy chicken noodle soup, instead of a side salad. The soup was clearly made from scratch and quite good. The mashed potatoes, gravy, and chicken fried chicken were each made from scratch and delicious. The breading on the chicken was perfect. Not too heavy and not too thin. I was honestly surprised that everything was homemade, as you just don't see that too often anymore. The green beans were cooked with bacon and every bite had bacon flavor. This was a pleasant surprise. The dinner roll was not just a puffy roll full of air. It had depth and was full throughout. I believe it was homemade as well. My husband had the Barry Special, which was seasoned grilled chicken breast with grilled onions served over a bed of steamed white rice. My husband is very picky and he loved everything. We also shared a cinnamon roll with icing. It was clearly homemade and huge. We didn't finish it but it was quite good. The icing had a hint of coffee flavor in it too. Be sure to check the specials on the board before ordering. There are quite a few options to choose from and they sound pretty good. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. The staff were friendly and polite. There is adequate parking outside for bigger groups and this place is right off of the highway, so it's very convenient. This place gets an A+ in my book. Oh my gosh! This place is awesome! We have always gone to the Sheridan location, and discovered this new location. Mom and I went first and boy, did we eat! But today, I took my husband. The location was busy and clean. We seated ourselves and drink orders were promptly taken. It's coke products. Hubby ordered chicken fried steak and I ordered 3 way spaghetti with onions and jalapeños. We had side salads (not pictured) and then our meals were HUGE! Tonys chicken fried steak was hand battered and fresh. His roll was a yeast roll that appeared to be scratch made. He did add a little more pepper to the white gravy (just his preference). My 3 way noodles were fresh and I could bathe in that chili! Perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of meat and beans. We both had to get carry out boxes because it was so huge! How adorable is this place?! Such a pleasant surprise. We stopped for the night at the Comfort Inn down the road and wanted something other than fast food, so I yelped and found this little gem. It's decorated like an adorable 50's diner, with model cars and pictures of Marilyn Monroe. The diner counter is right by the kitchen and is very welcoming. The place is very organized and very clean. The staff is great. As soon as we walked in we were greeted very warmly by several servers. Everyone was upbeat and friendly and offered great suggestions for the menu. You can tell that the staff works together as a team and enjoys what they do. The food was incredible! Totally home-cooked comfort food. Just what we needed after a long day of driving. Entrees come with several sides and a dinner roll, and it's all priced very reasonably. My uncle went for the fried chicken. It was seasoned very well and the chicken was moist and tender. My mom ordered the chicken and dumplings and said it was delish. I got the veggie platter - let me just say that whatever entree you get, definitely get mashed potatoes and gravy! To die for! I am in town visiting and just ordered for the first and last time from here I ordered catfish with soup and mashed potatoes and I got catfish with a bunch of okra I also ordered a freeway chili which according to the description does not come with noodles yet I get chili over spaghetti noodles now the person this was ordered for can not eat any of that which was why the soup mashed potatoes and chili alone was ordered but of course since none of that was send they can not eat now until we find something else from else where this was ordered through door dash so of course it was more expensive and all I was offered in credits was about 8 from a almost 35 order that was completely messed up I will never order or recommend this place to anyone to completely mess a whole order up is ridiculous to be visiting here trying a new place out and get this speaks volumes of this place good luck getting what you order from here read more
