This is the first location in Texas and it has only been open for about 3 months. We took a lovely walk along the canals and then were looking for a lunch spot. I had this place Yelp bookmarked and I had not seen the Toyota Music Factory complex before now, so we drove the mile over. The place was empty at 2pm on a beautiful Saturday - I imagine it is quite busy when anything is playing at the TM venue. We ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich combo (to split) with fries. ($18 including tax and tip) The southern sandwich comes with pimento cheese and I find that hard to resist on any menu! - Splitting the sandwich was plenty of food to not leave you too stuffed. Casey was working the register - and maybe he was helping in the kitchen too. Our sandwich came out pretty quickly and was super hot. It was very crispy and a bit sticky, not too hot, very tasty!! Quite large too - the chicken thigh extended out quite a bit from the bun. The fries were Crinkle shape (my fav!), nice and hot, not too salty. FYI, with a combo you have a choice of only fries or mac and cheese (though there are other side options available al la cart). There was a card on the table to register to win $100 gift cert, so we both registered. Casey came by after to ask us to register, when we said we already had - he said we were entitled to a free banana pudding for doing so. Then he bought out TWO banana puddings. WOOT!! I think the 2nd pudding will be better tomorrow when the vanilla wafers have time to absorb more into the pudding. The free puddings got them the extra star. Casey was great - and really seemed to care that the few customers in the joint were happy and well taken care of. Bathrooms were clean. Couple suggestions: that they had ketchup as a "pump option" - rather than all individual packets. And boy oh boy I would have LOVED a DIET dr. pepper on tap (they had regular). read more

This place is so awesome and so good! The customer service is outstanding. Came in today to try their The chicken fried steak sandwich- Nashville style! Let me tell you what! It's everything and more. It's perfectly made for a Texas size feel! Everything blends perfectly together! Asked for fresh fries and they came out perfectly salted! Absolutely enjoyed every bite! This place is clean and is the perfect place to enjoy some hot Chicken! They do have one item on the menu that's bone in. I will be trying that next time! My server Cassey was wonderful! Like all restaurants at TMF, try to get street parking, otherwise you have to park in the garage, which can be busy on event days. The restaurant itself is a long, quick serve style restaurant with booths along the sides, tables in the middle, and cool Budlong art and murals on the wall. If only it had better parking.... 1/2 Star. Service - The staff is super nice. We went on a grand opening day where the line was to the door, but the staff were all smiles, were super patient with our orders, and made sure we would enjoy our meals. Like most quick service restaurants, you order, give them your name, then wait for your food to come out. 1 Star Food - I ordered the original Nashville Hot chicken sandwich with Cajun potato salad. Kudos to Budlong because the thigh meat works. The chicken was hot, plump, juicy, and contained a good amount of heat. The soft, spongy bun held the chicken and slaw well. The slaw cooled the heat a little, and the cold, creamy Cajun potato salad cooled it a lot. IMO, it was a perfect paring. I chose the buttermilk ranch. And while I didn't dip my sandwich in it, my teens ate it with their hot, crispy crinkle-cut fries. But the star of my meal was the fried corn bread. Served with sweet butter, who knew boring cornbread could be transformed into such greatness? The only downer was the chocolate pie. The dough was very chewy and the chocolate a bit gooey. Otherwise, a great meal! 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. While I'm not a fan of the parking at Toyota Music Factory, I'm happy that I now have a great local option (I live in Irving) for Nashville Hot Chicken. Great sandwich, THE WORST SERVICE AND WAIT FOR FOOD WE HAVE EVWR EXPERIENCED We came dying a break for lunch. We came over and used the single kiosk to order our food. They are next to a convention center and only had one person making food and no other employees. It was insane. It got to the point that people from the conference started exploring food, pulling food from the window, working the screen to call out orders, going into the fridge to get condiments for orders! Literally the customers were working because the dude cooking was making one sandwich at a time... he was cutting a tomato, cooking one chicken breast at a time... it was like they had no idea how to make food for more than one person at a time and they had no idea that they are near a convention center and that there would be a ton of people at given times. We went here around 2:30-3:00pm it was dead, only one other customer in the place. Ordered chicken tenders (plain for two kids) and a sandwich (for myself). The tenders were so over cooked they were almost black, the kids couldn't even chew them, they were so dry. The kids ate all the sides and then I got them some food in our hotel restaurant afterwards. Honestly for $50.00 for this food is insane. When Anthony posted about this place opening, I knew we had to try it. Boy oh boy was it good. Their grand opening was today so it was busy. Because they have a great staff, it wasn't crowed. They did a great job of taking orders quickly and getting food out. The staff were fantastic. We have "enough" chicken places in Irving. Turns out, maybe now we do. Their chicken isn't like any other chicken I've had. I had the Budlong Original chicken sandwich. It was a wonderful blend of flavors and just the right serving size. The Mac & Cheese was good. Coke tasted like that Coke you get from Mexico. You know, made with real cane sugar instead of the stuff Coke is usually sweetened with. Yummy. My wife had a sandwich that she enjoyed but I don't remember which one it was. We got the banana pudding. Boy oh boy. Was it good. That just may have been the best banana pudding I've ever had. New favorite place. Where to begin. I've had the original chicken sandwich in "naked" (unsauced) and with the classic sauce. Both were great. My husband got the Southern Style and that is my new favorite. The fries are better than your standard fry, the mac in cheese was phenomenal, and hush puppies? Don't skip those - ever. Honestly this place is an absolute hidden gem. Not sure why it's not more busy throughout the day but genuinely one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had.
