We stopped in on a wet, cold Sunday afternoon, hoping to beat the evening crowd. A lot of people must have had the same idea as it was crowded. Not crazy, but busy. I imagine it can get loud when its packed. It was noisy today but not deafening. It's a very nice interior, sort of rustic urban. The people at the host stand were not at all welcoming. They made a poor first impression from a service perspective. Our server was great. It was our first visit so we asked for suggestions on beers and menu items. Her beer suggestion, Tecayah, was terrific. We had the pretzel bites, BBQ burger and Mac and Cheese. I added avocado, mushrooms and tomato to the mac/cheese. The pretzel bites were okay but overdone and hard. The pimento cheese and horseradish sauce were excellent. My mac and cheese was very creamy with an interesting shaped pasta. The sauce is definitely more of a bechamel sauce than cheese sauce; that's how it's described on the menu but since it's listed as mac and cheese it would have been nice if the cheese flavor had been noticeable. While our server's suggestion to add avocado was a good one, the dish overall was pretty bland. My husband had the burger. He said it was good but not extraordinary. The fries were very good. Crispy outside, soft inside. I really wanted to love this place. The food was generally okay but fairly pricey. Plus, there are other places with comparable food where the staff actually seems glad you stopped in. I feel better about spending our money in places like that. read more

This truly pains me to write about this place. We have frequented this restaurant on many occasions since they opened. We loved coming here for a burger and a beer. Last night we decided to do their curbside pickup to support local and what we got didn't even come close to the quality we have been accustomed to. I now know where the schools sent all their unused burger patties. At least the school cafeteria treats the meat with some dignity by covering it in brown gravy after they murder it. The patties were dry, well done and tasteless, the buns were not their usual pretzel or brioche and the fries were not the same and again tasteless and greasy. It didn't come with the condiments that they should have. For example we ordered a western burger that came with the saddest looking onion ring and no bbq sauce, which it's supposed to come with. The others no ketchup when they were supposed to. I would have even been pleasantly surprised if they had put it on the side, but nope. I have frequented other local restaurants during this at least once a week and not any of them has changed the quality of their food. I have no issue with a restaurant choosing to cut costs, but then be honest about it for patrons to know ahead of time rather than ordering and expecting a level of quality that they're not going to get. You're already doing a limited menu, which again I get why, but quality shouldn't suffer too. I hope that they choose to rethink the quality they're producing as it will take a lot to win me over again. read more

Went out on a hot night for a good meal; NOT dissapointed! 20 minute wait for inside(standard), so we sat out on the patio. Enjoyed a crisp local 75(well balanced), and short rib burger. Perfectly mid-rare. Cirspy onion rings, and short rib was so tender. She had the bbq burger. Sauce was "ok", but burger was just as good as mine, and the Mac & cheese was creamy and delicious. Stopped here to grab some burgers for my lunch. The Burger Local is incredible. Imagine, I just stopped for some burgers but end up ordering burgers, pasta, fries, calamari, and a drink. I love their menu! So affordable and fair, that is why I ordered other offers. The burgers are cooked to perfection. The bread is fresh, the veggies are new, and the meat is juicy! Really love it! I would really love to order it again when I go back. Service here was pleasant and quick. Their staff really works so fast and they are making sure that the food is still hot when the customers have it. Just wait 5-10 minutes and they will complete your order/s. Also, I highly recommend trying their Mac and Cheese, you won't be disappointed. Go and visit this place, guys! Their location is very accessible but I strongly recommend making a reservation before visiting. This place is very busy but they can still prove that their customer service is outstanding! I wish I could give this 3.5 stars. Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but a little bit pricey. We ordered the tots appetizer and 3 different burgers. The tots were amazing. I've never had tots like these with braised short ribs on top. I would totally come back just for these, but they were $14... for an appetizer. The burgers are a little bit on the smaller side, and for $12-$14 for a burger, I'd rather spend my money at Kuma's. I had the 3 Pigs... the first few bites were delicious and the further I got into it, the more I didn't want it. The pork party was a bit dry and the salami ended up being too strong of a taste for me. I'm sure there are others who would disagree though. The most frustrating experience was the service. It looked like there 3 or 4 serves to cater to the entire restaurant. Our server never asked us how our food was or provided us additional napkins, which, if you're getting the pimento burger, you definitely need it! Everyone at our table ran out of water / soda, and it took our server about 20 minutes after running out to refill it. He didn't acknowledge us when he came to refill our drinks at all. Not sure if this guy had a terrible day or if this type of service is customary here. If I'm in the area, I would probably skip this place and try something else. We ended up paying $65 (before tip) for 3 burgers and an appetizer and 1 soda. read more

The crab burger is out of this world and my kids list this spot as their favorite chicken sandwich which is a rave review.

It tasted good, however I believe they must fry their burgers, fries, and stuff in the same oil and surfaces as their shrimp. I had stomach cramps, nausea, and distress shortly after eating there. I let them know I have a shrimp allergy, but perhaps they are not familiar with the issue of cross contamination. My companions jad no issues with their food, so I am pretty sure it was an allergic reaction. It tasted delicious, though. read more

My wife and I went there for dinner on a recommendation of her friend. The place is great! We also love Barrel & Rye so its nice to see the owners carried over that same theme/feeling to this place. At the time we went we didn't know it was the same owners. Found out after reading all the other Yelp reviews. We loved the feel of the place, comfortable like a local place should be. There are many different sitting areas throughout the restaurant to sit, have a drink and wait for your table. Food was great, we had the Portobello mushroom appetizer, liked the flavor and the dipping sauce complimented it well. We both had burgers. I had the short rib burger, cooked medium, and I have to say they nailed the temp on the burger, with the side salad. The vingerette dressing was perfect, just the right amount of acidity but not overpowering and they didn't drown the salad in the dressing. My wife had the chicken chorizo burger and liked it a lot. Good spice flavor to it but didn't blow her mouth out so that all she tasted was hot or spice heat. Service was good, our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. The two hostesses when we walked in smiled and greeted us right away. We are definitely going back there again. read more

I recently had lunch in this establishment. I had the Bison Burger and couple of their, not common, beers. Amazing food, truffle fries were awesome and the burger was moist and juicy and cooked just the way I had ordered it. The Bartender was also very hospitable. We have been here a couple other times. We knew the wait was always long but the food was very good. Our son hadn't been before so we took him tonight for his 21st birthday (we are a family of 5 and had my mother and father in law with us). I was surprised there was still a 45 minute wait with a snow storm. But it was better than the normal 1.5 hour wait! When I first walked in and walked up to the hostess stand, the hostess was talking to a waitress and they just kept on chattering while I stood there. When they finished then she finally turned to me and asked me if we would like a table. The wait was probably a tad shorter than expected so that was spot on. However, nobody told us there was plenty of room in the back of the restaurant to wait where we wouldn't have been in the way and would have gotten away from the entryway and the extreme cold outside (single digits). Our waiter was fine, but you could tell he was extremely busy and only there to do his job nothing more. We ordered drinks and appetizers. After the appetizers were done and cleared and we ordered dinner. By this point my water had already been empty for quite a while. So when We ordered dinner I asked for more water. I also ordered a side of tater tot's to have with dinner. It came out shortly after we ordered. The waiter came by and asked if the other appetizers had come out too. I told him that our appetizers had been delivered, eaten and cleared by the time he took our dinner order and that the tater tot's were supposed to come with the meal (like I specifically asked). He apologized but that was it. We had no plates and no silverware to eat them with. Food was very good as always. But it wasn't until we were completely done eating, the dishes were cleared and we had our bill that my water (and my husband's since I drank his too) and the rest of the tables empty glasses finally got filled. When we were standing up to put our coats on and get ready to leave, they were already clearing the table as if we had walked out the door. But we were still getting up, putting on coats and gathering our things (not a quick thing to do when you have winter coats, hats, gloves, etc and are shoved into your table like sardines). It was like they were shoving us out. I understand it's busy however they could've waited 30 seconds until we had all gotten up from out seats and left the table before they interrupted us to clean it off. Sure would've been nice to have that promptness when I needed water. As a former waitress, I was completely appalled at the service we received. Even though the food and the drinks are very good, I don't think we will ever be going back again. Which is a major disappointment because we like the food and love their other restaurant. This was just the last straw in terms of service. Not worth it anymore. Felt like they just didn't care that you were there and were just trying to get as many people in and out as quickly as possible. They know their food is good so they know they'll be busy and they don't have to bother being nice. Wasn't at all about the experience. Oh and by the way, not a single mention about our son's birthday. His special dinner out was no more special than any other dinner out and quite frankly it was the most disappointing of any that we have had in a long time. read more

My husband, 4 month old daughter, and I went here for lunch on a Saturday. We had to wait about 15 minutes but it was worth the wait! This place is Family friendly and a loud atmosphere (perfect for covering up a fussy baby). My husband ordered the shrimp burger (he loved it) and I ordered the Big Kahuna (teriyaki pineapple bacon burger - yum!!). The fries were crisp and beer batter onion rings addicting. Been here twice, the first time was great the second was just ok. I came here with my boyfriend, we waited over 45 minutes which seems to be normal for here. After we sat, we ordered drinks and an app right away. We ordered the tots, which we remembered being good the first time, but tonight not so much. We wished they were fired longer (needed to be a bit more crispy) and they were a little too greasy. Secondly, we both asked for our burgers to be cooked medium and they were both more like medium rare. I won't hold it too much against the place, but with the inconsistency in the way the food is cooked it's not worth the 45 minute wait. We can find a better burger elsewhere. read more

Went there this past Saturday with Dad and hubby. Cute place, nice decor like an upscale sports bar. Club soda was fizzy. Deviled eggs appetizer was okay - didn't see or taste any lobster though. Got the double local because I don't need a 10 oz burger. Burger was good. Not amazing, but solid. Then came the funk... Duck fat tater tots were off. As soon as the food was put in front of me, I smelled something I can only describe as - funky. Come to realize it was the tater tots. After a bite and a smell - yes, they smelled weird. Leaving tables open on a Friday night must be costing them some big business. I have been here twice now. The first time, I waited ten mins with a drink in the comfy couch and enjoyed the decor. Service was friendly, and the salmon Caesar was delicious! My rating that night would have been a 5. I brought some friends back on Sat night and had a totally different experience. We were given menus and seated, but a server never came to see us until I flagged one down after about 25 mins. At that point, we were told that the kitchen just closed ten mins ago. As we were there for dinner, we left and went to Barrel & Rye (same owners), which was fabulous. Didn't make sense why they gave us menus and let us sit for so long when the kitchen was closing. The rating that night would be a 1. So for now, it's a 3. I'll try it again because I live really close, but will be sure to ask when the kitchen closes in the future! read more

This gourmet burger place is a nice addition to Geneva. Overall the food was really good. The mushroom croquettes were actually the most surprising part of the meal. Tons of mushrooms which you usually get jipped on at other places. We had the 3 Pigs burger and Asian burger. The Asian burger was really good. The 3 Pigs burger had a nice crunch to it with the fried salami and chicharrones. I think the only thing it was lacking was a sauce because it seemed like a slap in the face to throw ketchup on that burger. I ended up using my wife's pepper jack salad dressing as a sauce which worked really well. Overall, good food, good atmosphere, and good beer options. We will definitely be back to try the mac n' cheese and other burgers. read more
