There are very very few things I will wait in line for (really, just if I'm at Disneyland), but for these baked goods, I'll wait. I went early on a Saturday morning and braced the cold, and I even looked at the menu beforehand so I could order quickly when I got there. But once I got to the window, the bread-y aroma and beautiful display made me forget everything I planned for, and I really just wanted to order one of everything I could see. I got an assortment of their cruffins, sweet and savory pastries, and a kouign amman. And I am in love. The texture on each item was so perfect, and the flavors were incredible. This place is truly incredible. You can tell they care about what they do. The pastries are so delicious, and they're made correctly with proper laminations and buttery perfection!!! I also love that their sweet pastries are never overly sweet, it's a perfect balance. Not only that, but the guy that always takes our order is so kind and fun to talk to!! I love many things about Albuquerque: the amazing weather, the people, the mountains, the New Mexican food. But a top notch bakery was missing until I found Burque Bakehouse. Wow. Where to start? Their croissants rival Paris's patisseries. Their breads are chewy, crusty and they work with the best fresh fruits and vegetables to create signature delights that leave a memory long after their food is finished. So good. And just as beautiful as they are tasty. Really, just remarkable. And in their current COVID mode, you order by 5 pm Wednesday and pick up Saturday morning, I think any time before noon. Service has always been friendly and accurate, with all of their baked goods well-packed and ready to go. My only complaint is that this method doesn't allow for instant gratification, which is good for my waistline. And really, it gives me something to look forward to when they finally open their full-time bakery. When it happens, it will be well-deserves and hopefully swamped from Day One. Okay I am a sucker for a good pastry and when I kept driving past the line of people that forms I knew this place had to be either a great coffee shop or bakery (both of which I would have been happy about). Upon further investigation I realized that I had bought a something from their farmers market stand about two years ago but just never remembered to see if they had physical location. I did go on a sunday morning and as per usual there was a line but I happily hopped in it. It went pretty quickly and I ended up impulsively buying an iced malted milk latte, a baguette, and a pastry of theirs called a coconut coil. Lets start with the latte. So I love anything with malt flavor and coffee as well, so when I saw that drink on the menu I knew I had to try it. It was good but probably my least favorite of the items I purchased. It was quite sweet because it they use a vanilla malt syrup in it. I personally could have gone for less vanilla more malt but that is just a personal preference. It is topped with a chocolate whip of sorts which I would say had a similar texture to starbucks cold foam, that part though was actually not very sweet at all. While overall I think it was just a little sweet for my taste and would be too much to go with a pastry, I could tell it was made well and with good ingredients. The baguette is fantastic. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Nothing more needs to be said. Now the coconut coil, is, in my opinion, phenomenal. It looks like maybe it made with more of a donut dough but nope. Flaky buttery croissant and then the inside is a coconut custard. Not really a cream but a more traditional not runny egg based custard that is not too sweet. While it has been quiet awhile since I had it, I got the Boston cream cruffin while at the farmers market and remember that it was good, especially the flaky pastry but maybe too much for the morning. If I were it again I would definitely save it for later in the day. Overall great place, I will be back and happily stand in the line again. read more

We were passing through ABQ to see White Sands Natl Park and saw a line wrapped around the building - that's when you know Burque's Bakehouse is good. We got probably too many pastries and we don't regret it. We got the 2 savory pastries (the farm egg one tastes like breakfast pizza) and the berry danish, coffee cake muffin, coconut coil, chocolate croissant and the almond croissant. So flavorful, crisp and light! We also got two iced americanos. One with the red chili syrup and house vanilla. The chili was such a pleasant surprise. I am obsessed with their Ham & Cheese Croissant. I love it, it's a nice little meal in itself. I tried the Mushroom Danish for the first time a while ago and I was sorry I hadn't tried it sooner! I honestly think it would be quite an oddity to find something that you didn't find just down right delicious. Order a few things and find out! Such unique bread! I tried most of the popular ones: the green Chile croissant, the Artichoke danish, and I asked for the Asparagus danish but they didn't have it anymore. I instead bought a Mexican street corn bread. All of them were so savory and delicious, I especially liked the Mexican street corn one since it was sweeter than the rest. I also bought the vegan butter croissant for a friend and quickly realized it wasn't gluten free, so beware! Will definitely be coming back and taking pictures. read more

Phenomenal. I've travelled around the world and happened to be in Albuquerque for a wedding. Stopped by this place because it was close to where I was staying. When I tell you it has some of the best baked goods I've ever had, I mean it can go head to head with baked goods from Paris. They bake their products absolutely perfectly: crunchy and flaky in the outside, delicate and soft on the inside. I feel like a lot of places dry out their products but not this place.
