I'm giving The Burrow Cafe a 3 out of 5 stars because the staff and coffee were great. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the coffee was tasty. However, the food was for sure not good nor worth what we paid. My fiancé got a bagel and lox, which was about $10-$12 (pricey) and when it arrived the lox and bagel were covered in herbs, what should've been a garnish rather then just dumped on the lox and cream cheese, couldn't even eat it all. I got the croissant egg which with Turkey sausage and potatoes. Turkey sausage was burnt to the point where it was stiff, eggs were burnt (tasted like they didn't clean the griddle) and the potatoes were just overpowered with Salt and Herbs. Our total for the two dishes and two coffee drinks was $50 . For sure over priced for food that is not good, not prepared well. I mean, I was looking at the menu and just for a regular bagel, it's $5 before adding anything. This place is pricey!! read more

I was really disappointed with the Burrow Cafe. I was  really hoping it would be a special place. I ordered an Everything Bagel with plain smear and it was definitely pricey ($5) compared to other bagel places so I was thinking that it would be like one of those yummy bagels like you get in New York City that have the toppings on the top as well as the bottom. No such luck. It was just a regular bagel and it really was kind of lackluster in taste and slightly burnt.   I will say that I thought the coffee was very good and the price was reasonable, especially since it had oat milk. My friend ordered a veggie omelet. She let me have a bite, and I thought it was pretty good. Her response though: she thought it was bland. She also ordered a gluten-free bagel. There was an up charge of $2.95 for gluten-free. She was disappointed with the flavor of it, too. Also disappointed that the place didn't have many gluten-free free options. Unfortunately, the décor did nothing to save my impression of the restaurant. I would call it shabby chic. More shabby than chic. The light fixtures were quite lovely, so maybe it's a work in progress? There were tables stacked in the back of the restaurant that are most likely for patio seating on warmer days. One of the counters was set up as a work surface with a computer and messy paperwork. If you gotta work, you gotta work, but the extra clutter didn't add anything positive to the ambiance of the restaurant.  If you are charging premium prices, I think ambiance should be on the menu. A suggestion...laminate the menus that everyone needs to touch before ordering. At least those can be cleaned off.  There's a sign that tells you how long you can expect to wait for your order. There was no line when we went, but it said like 30 minutes. Whatever it was, the cashier saw the look on my face and assured me it wouldn't take that long. He was right.   On the subject, no problem with the employees; they were pleasant.  So, I will give this cafe another try since it's local and newish. I think there's a lot of potential there. Next time, I'll sit outside and I'll try my own omelet or crepe .   If nothing else, I feel certain that I'll enjoy my latte. read more

Love this place! The ambiance of this cafe makes you feel like you are really in a big city somewhere far from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The crepes are larger than life, and a couple could definitely share one if so desired. The flavors of the crepe itself...to die for. The cream cheese filling is so unique, and the fruit inside is so fresh. I would definitely recommend however, that you must have a pretty big sweet tooth to try and one of these sweet crepes. read more

The food and ambiance are very good. The service and increase in prices is not. The Burrow has a gal at the coffee station who never acknowledges her customers. I stood in front of her station for over 5 minutes to get a refill. She never even looked up at me or greeted me. The time before, she was on her cellphone and not even acknowledging anyone who came near her. Is the Burrow this desperate? Also, they recently made changes to their menu. You used to get a side of potatoes, or any other side, and toast with your omelets. Now, they've removed the choice of a side. If you want a side, such as potatoes, you have to pay extra for it. While the food is good, I won't be going back. There are several other places to go in town that don't "skimp" on the side dishes, and people who actually know what the word "service" means. The burrow cafe was one of the few places in ABQ where I could find my fixes for crepes, be they sweet or savory, in ABQ. The place is relatively small (but there are additional seatings for any stores just outside of the shop) and mostly have some items like coffees and pastries if you aren't looking for crepes. I had tried two if their crepes (suga and strawberry cheesecake) and my companion had tried their breakfast croissant. We thought the taste was good..abeit the portions were relatively small for the prices. The wait wasn't too long, parking was never a problem given they share same parking space as other shops in the same commercial area, and the staff were always pleasant. If I have any cravings for crepe and I'm in the Eastside area, I would probably stop by the Burrow Cafe again. read more

Stopped by yesterday for a coffee, the barista was kind and friendly, cappuccino was lovely. Stopped by today for a cappuccino on my way back to work... not so great. Nutella and anything will always get my vote! I had the Nutella and banana crepe and it was amazing and my crepe was stuffed with so much goodness! My husbands Sticky Bun tasted just like a Cinnamon Bun with all of its cinnamon-y goodness. I tried Vietnamese Iced Coffee for the first time and it was delicious! I absolutely love this place! I was so sad to see Breve close but when this place opened less than 3 min from my house I was over the moon. Their new menu features some awesome new items including savory crepes and bagels (the burrow bagel is my favorite.) And of course their coffee is still as delicious as ever. I get the breve with an extra pump of vanilla. Their decor is really cute and makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. It will make for a great study/work area once everything has calmed down. I really can't see how this place can get more than one star. To begin with, the space itself is a mess. It's like going to your super unorganized friend's house and trying to find a free spot to sit among the clutter while pretending that you aren't slightly horrified. The curtains are dirty and visibly stained. The bar can't be used because of the amount of things on it. The largest table in the place also can't be used because it's covered in miscellaneous crap in a way that can only be described as "kids just got home from school and dumped everything here." I didn't notice it at first (because seriously, it's a disaster), but all of the pastries, bread, etc are piled in their Costco containers on the bar. Really. Just go to Costco yourself and save lots of money and time. There were lots of people working, but they really couldn't stay on top of the orders. Although it doesn't seem super time consuming to slap an egg onto a Costco croissant, we never actually got our food. After waiting over 30 minutes (despite the sign that said it was a 10-15 min wait), we gave up and asked for a refund. Apparently we weren't the only people tired of waiting as the customer in front of us was also complaining about the wait. The only thing we managed to have was the Iced Vietnamese coffee. Whooooo boy. This was even more painfully over-sweetened than the most offensive chain coffee. Vietnamese coffee can be amazing when done right, but this was just a coffee hinted sugar bomb. I really wanted to like this place because it's in the neighborhood. Unfortunately unless it undergoes a complete overhaul I won't be back. read more

If you want to find the BEST crepes in ABQ, well they are definitely here! I have always been treated very well here unlike a business a few doors down..... Let me explain why I gave it 2 stars. When you walk in, it's extremely cluttered and unorganized. Sometimes there is a wait just to place your order. Also more times than not, the "coffee bar" is dirty or out of the necessities. After placing your order, may it be 1 item or 6, you could wait 20-60min.. I do understand they are probably short staffed and overwhelmed with an influx of customers. They need to figure this out because when your paying 4-5 times the cost of Costco breads, eggs, and meat, it should at least be hot and not just thrown together. I am aware that this is a family owned café. It doesn't need to be ran and look as if it were. I hope the best for them. read more

met here for a breakfast meeting, Coffee was smooth just got a drip so cannot speak to the other fancy concoctions but they all looked good and they had a nice variety. Friend got the croissant sandwich and she seemed happy it looked good. I got the NM ham and cheese crepe. The green chile had a nice kick, a good amount of ham and cheese but so dry. Was debating between 3 stars and 4 but I loved the coffee so I bumped it up! This is a really cute place and the food was good, but nothing special this time around. My boyfriend got the NM ham melt and I got the Chipotle Chicken. Both were very generously stuffed with toppings and green chile. The Chipotle was the better of the two but both were tasty. I chose a side of chips (lays) and he chose the fruit. I'd recommend choosing chips because the side of fruit is really small. The coffee is absolutely delicious though! I got a Vietnamese iced coffee and it was the perfect condensed milk to espresso ratio. Next time we go we both agree we want to try the sweet crepes instead of savory to see if they wow us. We noticed a lot of the ingredients were from Costco, which is totally fine, but we were kinda hoping to see some local products/support as well. One thing I will note about eating there is that the chairs are not very comfy for wider hips like mine. Overall our first time here was good, but nothing to rave about. read more

The food is great. The menu is unique and selection is perfect for most anyone requiring certain dietary restrictions. I recommend the crepes, sweet and savory are both good. My biggest concern is the restaurant/cafe only uses boxes and plastic for everything. Drinks, food, and plastic cutlery. Not only that but they don't recycle ANY of it. Sustainability nightmare. Really 3.5 Stars. Great and friendly service. The coffee was good but the packaging, cutlery, and the food was disappointing. We ate out on the patio after waiting inside for our coffees. The food came out quickly - in takeout boxes, making it hard to access the food easily. The plastic cutlery was bendy and made it hard to cut through the crepes. Speaking of the crepes, I ordered the BLT - bacon with some spinach and very thinly sliced tomatoes, a small amount of Mayo. The crepe was large and thick and tasteless. The bacon was plentiful, well cooked, and tasty. I didn't bother to eat the crepe, just had the filling. Very disappointed, especially because with coffee and tip the bill came to just under $40 for 2 people for lunch. And an hour later I was hungry. There are a number of other restaurants in this location. Next time I'll try a different one. I'm not going back to The Burrows Cafe any time soon. read more

Our go-to weekend breakfast spot! The coffee drinks are seriously the best, I recommend the iced coffee, or any latte. The sugar-free hazelnut latte was the best I've had. I can't even begin to express how much I love this cafe. I have the pleasure (and misfortune - my poor wallet) of living right down the street. Every weekend, we take a bike ride or walk to get some scrumptious bagels or quiche or paninis, and always an iced caramel mock-iato and some form of tea. The staff is superb. The food is excellent. Almost good, but... not. Overpriced and it takes a hilarious amount of time. I'm not kidding that it took almost 40 minutes for two to-go bagels to come out.
