I give The Butler 4 stars. The food was pretty good, the views were fantastic. and the breeze on the deck was wonderful. Despite that, the service was slow as molasses and I think it took 75+ min to get my salad after I ordered. I also tried to get ice cream after and the waitress told me it would take just as long as the salad. Also, a big detractor for me was that they do NOT have coke products and I was dying for one. They serve pepsi which I do not really like. If I had known I was going to be sitting there for hours waiting for my salad then I would have slammed a coke before I got there ha.

The food here was great, along with the cocktails. The crab dish on top of the mushrooms was good and would definitely recommend. We initially were sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful scenery of being on the water, but it started storming right after our appetizer. The staff did an excellent job of moving people inside of under the pavilion. We moved to a table inside and finished out our dinner there. The lobster and shrimp roll, paired with the onion rings was a perfect was to finish out dinner.

My friend and I enjoyed a great lunch at this spacious restaurant inside an interesting vintage building. The location is perfect for boaters, tourists and locals. Sitting right on the water with indoor and outdoor seating, it was very comfortable with an incredible view. Our server was so sweet. She was friendly and helpful. Service was attentive and professional throughout our lunch. Our lunch was fresh and tasty. The seafood dip was full of flavor, my salad and my friend's lobster roll were the perfect options for a summer meal.

Great outdoor spot with beautiful waterfront views. I ordered the raspberry and goat cheese pizza, which was incredible. If you feel like branching out with your pizza order you have to try this one (I promise you won't be disappointed!). Portion size is great, but definitely shareable. The service was efficient and the staff was friendly.

On a road trip and decided to stop here for lunch. I must say we were impressed. Would definitely come back. Beautiful location, great food, and amazing staff.

We walked into the patio seating and put our names in for a table. We expected a wait as they don't take reservations for a party of two. Within minutes of getting and drink at the bar we were texted that a table was ready. We were seated at a waterfront table which was lovely. That was the end of our lovely, inviting experience. The waitress did not welcome us or greet us but asked if we were ready to order. As we had just been seated (and not even had a sip of our drinks) we we had not even looked at a menu. A little off-putting. She came back later and asked again if we were ready to order. No greeting. No nothing. We ordered and then waited ... and waited ... and waited. About 30 minutes later the waitress came back, not to check on us or tell us the status of our food order, but only to ask us if we wanted to order another drink. I asked her to check on our food order. Finally, about 35-40 after ordering the food arrived. No waitress. She finally came to check on us as we were almost finished with our dinner entrees. What terrible "service". Fortunately she was anomaly as everyone else was most pleasant and the food was delicious. I don't know her name as she did not introduce herself to us.

The views are stellar. Nestled right on the water, it's a tourist hot spot without a doubt. We came in the winter so the town was quiet with not a lot of commotion. And subsequently there was no wait to grab a table at the Butler. I've only ever been outside on their massive patio in the summer that they recently built, so this was the first time dining inside. It was definitely dated inside. Carpets throughout with an old school supper club vibe. The food was good, not great. Nothing noteworthy. Our family ordered got the Butler burger, mac and cheese with brisket, pickle fries, caesar salad, and the stuffed mushrooms. The service was probably the highlight. Our server was incredibly nice and even spoke Spanish to our uncles who were visiting us from Ecuador. He was super attentive and on top of everything. You should check them out in the summer and enjoy the patio views. Hold off on going during the winter if you're able to.

I love the vibe at the Butler especially the upstairs both at the bar and tables. Great views and yummy food. I thought the whitefish dip with pita chips was delicious as well as the turkey club on the freshest flatbread ever and amazing sweet potato waffle fries.

My partner and I came to this place over the weekend, while visiting the area and after reading many raving reviews. If the party is not large, you cannot make reservations on Open Table. Since we were a small party of two, we walked in and gave them our name. They put us in the system, said the wait would be an hour to an hour and thirty minutes. I was mind blown by the hostess time estimate because they called us within an hour and seven minutes. The place reminds me of Krusty Krab in SpongeBob, it's wooden paneling and dark décor. The service was okay, I wish our waiter would have been a tiny bit more attentive. You cannot tell me you're that busy to have runners deliver the food and to check up on the table every so often (before @ me, he was not that busy and the place was not that busy). As for Appetizer, we had crab stuffed mushrooms, they were watery with a great amount of cheese on top. I would have opted-in for a breadcrumb top rather than cheese. My partner has to finish the App. For Entrée, I had the Horseradish Peppercorn Burger, it was very flavorful and cooked as recommended - medium. The side, sweet potatoes, were so stale and overcooked, it seemed like they were out all day and the cooks refried them. (again, do not @ me, I worked at Arby's back in my prime, so I know a stale, overcooked, recooked fry). My partner had the Southwestern Salad with grilled "over seasoned" chicken and missing black beans with a grand amount of red onion. Overall, no, I did not like this place and would not recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. I wish the company all the best in their success.

We had 22 people (8 kids) and they accommodated us well!! They brought out the kids plates first and quickly, while keeping the adult beverages full! Delicious, would recommend!

I swear this happens every time we come here. We sat at the bar for 15+ minutes waiting for a drink and were never served. The bartenders seemed more focused on chatting with each other than acknowledging customers. That said, our server, Jada, was great! She took good care of us, and the food came out hot and delicious, so we were able to end the night on a positive note.

starting last night for dinner with two of my girlfriends. There was about a 15 minute wait before we sat on a patio closest to the boats. We quickly got greeted by our server and ask for a drink menu. Once you brought that back to us, we ordered two Michigan Mojito and a beer. We then decided to order three different pizzas to split - the raspberry goat cheese, pickle prosciutto, and pulled pork barbecue jalapeño. All of them were very delicious. We did have to ask her raspberry sauce as they forgot that. It was a bit chillier, but overall everything was super clean. The view of the water was beautiful. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

No one was there but the owner picked up the phone and was able to arrange a great table for us right in the bar area! Walking in I was immersed in the moody and dark space, brightened by pops of red and other Asian accents. The bar is beautiful and the bartender was hard at work cranking out cocktails. Lindsay was our server, and she was an absolute breath of fresh air, clearly passionate about her role in providing the guest experience, and frankly, she made all the difference in our experience. It all started when she saw our boys sitting at the low two top and offered them a private dining experience right next to us! They downed so much sushi, I nearly had to take out a second mortgage, but I'd happily pay it over and over to see the looks on their faces at 5 and 8 again! To say that a core memory was made that night is a massive understatement, as we have not stopped hearing about this since we returned and my son even made my mother walk him back to the restaurant the next day just to see if he could say hi! She took incredible care of the grown ups too. Helped with menu selections, addressed all requests swiftly and handled any issues with actual regard for the feedback being provided, which is becoming more and more rare in today's industry. On the food, we ordered most the apps including wings, green beans, cucumbers, shrimp, and spring rolls, and then we added the crab noodles, yellow curry and a few sushi rolls. The cucumbers and green beans stole the show, with the shrimp and crab noodles not too far behind. The sushi was decent, but I found the rice a bit gummy and didn't really get a sense of each element within them. The wings and curry were a bit bland for my liking but the wings benefitted by the additional sauce with them. The curry needed a bit more heat, fish sauce, and maybe a hit of vinegar. As someone who LOVES Asian food, this satisfied the itch after mainly eating American food for so many days, but I'd realistically rate it a 3.5 stars, especially considering the price and value. I'd happily return on my next visit to Saugatuck and suggest it to friends too. Keep crushing the service game!

This place seems to be known for their pizza, but we had just eaten pizza the day before, so we opted for a side of fries, a side Caesar salad, and an order of the wings. Well, we ended up getting full portions of the side items, which was a bit of a bummer as we weren't super hungry plus it was more expensive. We'd just be more specific next time. The food was good, but we really should have ordered pizza. The Caesar salad was fresh and flavorful, but had a LOT of anchovies. I personally really like anchovies, but this was a bit much. The wings were huge and kind of gamey, and the skin was not crispy so they were not my favorite to eat. The fries were tasty but nothing special. I will give 5 stars for the beer! I had the lake noir, which was a blueberry/blackberry beer and the other fruit beer which was watermelon flavored. They were both fruity and refreshing and I really enjoyed them. I would come back for the pizza, which seemed a bit pricey but looked delicious.

We got the crab and lobster dip plus the duck liver mousse for appetizers. Both were bland and the flavor non-comprehensive. The dip had little flavor and the texture was weird and chewy, did not taste like the crab and lobster was cooked that day (from experience). The duck liver mousse was decent, but fell flat on a full flavor alone, it was kindly complemented with the pickled cucumber and carrots but overall it wasnt the most impressive. We had the lake trout and the hanger steak. The lake trout was gamey, oddly flavorless but also had a strong musky flavor, severely under seasoned during cooking. The spinach and embellishments saved the dish from being totally inedible. Presentation was sad and sloppy. The steak with tallow fries was a joke. The meat was chewy/tough, the sauce tasted like nothing, and the fries tasted like they came straight out of the freezer section of Walmart (freezer taste included). Wedges or fingerlings would have been a far better pairing in our opinion. Both of our plates were left barely half finished and it turned into a date of being food critics lol. A positive was they did make a decent old fashioned (was more of a double), and their French 75 was fabulous. Overall, it was a joke. We love interesting new places with unique menu options. We chose this place for that reason. Unfortunately we felt it was a case of "quantity over quality". These dishes had so much potential, but it was by far our worst food experience of our trip.

The deviled eggs are a must, and that's from someone who generally doesn't eat them. The dinner menu isn't terribly large but what they do, they do very well. Dessert menu rotates but the pots de crème we ordered was amazing. Prices and portion sizes are pretty reasonable. We intend to make Borrowed Time a regular stop during or trips to SW Michigan.

Decided to go here before the Douglas Dutchers Vintage Base Ball game. The best thing I tried out…read moreof the half dozen dishes my party got was the Duck Meatballs and Tomato Bisque soup. They were both delicious. The meatballs were flavorful and moist. The soup tasted fresh and creamy with little chunks within. Those both were my absolute favorite. I was slightly disappointed in the smoked salmon, as it didn't seem like it was smoked that well. To me it was more baked than smoked. The bread was good and the Honey butter was a nice spread on it. Chicken had a nice sauce/flavor to it, though was a tad on the dry side for me. Atmosphere was alright, we enjoyed the outdoor seating and never went inside so cannot speak on that. Service was alright. Nothing to write home about. Not sure I'd make this a place to visit a second time. Thought its worth a try once.

Haven't done a Yelp review in a few years and trust me, I've been to at least like three of four…read moredifferent places in the timespan. Nothing quite made me want to leave a review. Sure, I'd leave places and be like, "I should really do them a solid" but then I just went home and either forgot about it or started doing other stuff. Have gotten really into running since COVID and that's pretty much my favorite topic of discussion (running, not COVID). Had between 15 and 20 Miller Lites over the course of a three-night span here in late June 2026. This place is like Outback Steakhouse in the "no rules, just right" type of way. I do not believe they serve food here but did see bartenders making microwavable popcorn on request to several patrons. So this place is designed with a three-room set-up. You walk in and it's a square carpeted room that can be used for live music. Then you reach the bar area, then there are pool tables. There seemed to be an area behind the pool tables but I was too afraid to go back there. Now in terms of bar design, I would have led with the bar but that's just me and I'm sure the architects (possibly Mike Brady from "The Brady Bunch") knew what they were doing. I tend to trust professionals, apart from what our public health "experts" did to us during the forementioned COVID. This bar is cash only. That's probably in other reviews. Also, if you have AT&T cell service, good luck. There's no service so you can't look up scores and check Instagram. And now you're thinking, "what about the wifi?" C'mon bro, be serious. I love this bar. They have four different TVs in the main bar area that range from 19 to 45 inches. All are on different setups. Antenna, YouTubeTV, etc. The staff is fantastic. Patrick and Katie were my two favorites. Entertaining and straight out of bartending central casting. I was just drinking beers so I can't comment on what like a cocktail or normal-person drink tastes like. Clientele ranges from bachelorette parties to people who have seen some shit. It's a dive bar that never had to try to be a dive bar. You'll read other reviews on this place and they are super granular or longwinded or whatever. Don't pay attention to those bozos. This place is strictly vibes. Did I mention the dropped ceilings have art paintings on them? One even has a Pontiac painted on it. Hell yeah, Michigan. Haven't seen a Pontiac since cars still had cassette tape players in them. I would live there if I could. And I'm a proud Ohioan.

Guessing the decor hasn't changed in decades, which is great. Friendly bartender, and lots of locals coming and going. We obviously are not regulars at the bar, and felt welcomed. Small town drink prices were a bonus. Would go back.
