The coffee is very good. I like it served piping hot. If it given to me not piping hot that it practically scalds my tongue then I give the coffee shop an automatic "F" for flunky barista. The barista is still yelling at the paying customers. I was yelled at last week. Maybe the barista needs to get own hearing check and may need a hearing aid? The owner could try purchase a roll of sticky grey 3 inch wide tape that is so sticky it will stay in place until the tape is removed as a form of behavior modification. The barista was incredibly rude and quite nasty tempered. I was polite. I wasn't screaming at the barista there at all. I would encourage every patron start the day off teaching the barista a lesson that may change the barista into be a little more appropriate. The barista is to experience a 6 month restriction or the owner to fire the barista outright. The best way, place the barista on restriction and restrict the tips to one copper penny and not any other money, coins or dollars to be the tip. Came in on a Wednesday morning and tried the June Bug seasonal drink, which was an iced blackberry latte. It was pretty good! I wasn't sure how I'd like the fruit with espresso, but it worked really well. There were chunks of blackberry, and the flavor really came through. The food on the other hand was delightful! I got the Wakin Bacon Panini and I would order it again and again. This place still hits. Years ago I got a sandwich. About a week or so ago I ordered that same sandwich. It's still bomb. I'm a sauce guy and I think what really does it for me is the Spicy Aioli. It's not super spicy but it does have a fun kick. There's lots of flavor that blends well with the Cheddar and Bacon. I wanna try other stuff though. I know the menu isn't the biggest because it is a coffee place at its core. I think it's a chill spot. I'm also really curious about the bar in the back. This place is a great little spot to work, hang out, or just get cozy with a coffee and a notebook. The space feels welcoming and comfortable, the kind of café you can easily settle into for a while. I grabbed coffee from States Coffee but wanted something to eat, and this spot was around the clerk. The avocado toast did not disappoint. I added egg and bacon, which turned it into a full and satisfying meal. The sprouts were plentiful, and the sauce was really flavorful. One half was so filling that I saved the second half for lunch. I was originally only going to order a half since they sell the avocado toast by half or full. The cashier mentioned that the full was only three dollars more, so it was the better deal. I recently had the opportunity to walk around the downtown area of Martinez and stopped inside Barrelista Coffee House ~ a sign that read 'coffee and cocktails'..I mean, yes and yes! We ordered toasts, flavored iced coffees, and a matcha. Toast-wise, see pics for the Avocado Toast and Loaded Vegetarian Toast. Iced Coffee wise went with the Iced Honey Latte and the Iced Mint Latte. Super yum! The toasts are massive and well -worth the order! Aesthetically pleasing to the eye and also deliciously fresh. The Avo toast is loaded, drizzled with an aioli, hemp seeds, and chili flakes with an additional spread of cream cheese and topped with a heaping mound of sprouts. The Loaded Vegetarian comes with avocado, tomato, cucumber, cream cheese, sprouts, capers, and is piled-high potentially needing a fork/knife. If visiting Barrelista for more of their cocktail vibe, it looks like they have barrel aged cocktails and a super fun drink menu I would love to come back and cheers with a few over girl talk time. The settling was quiet and relaxing when I went Saturday. I ordered an iced vanilla chai on the left and my friend ordered a vanillA'more on the right. Both drinks had no flavor. The iced vanilla chai tasted watered down with cinnamon, I asked to add more vanilla syrup to it but it didn't do anything to the taste so not sure if it's the syrups? The VanillA'more just tasted like coffee, nothing that was written in the description which was vanilla creamy chocolate. If you don't have a lot of time at lunch...order online. I like the salmon. Served on their homemade bread, with tomato, onion, capers, and alfalfa sprout. Super tasty. But... This is why they don't get 5 stars from me; they grill the homemade bread to toast it a little bit, which turns the crust into a freakin rock. You can't cut it without a steak knife. I am a regular until they closed down for a change in management. I'm glad that the care is open once again! Five stars for quality and flavor of food. I ordered a hot matcha latte and it was not good. It was not sweetened at all. Their menu does mention it comes unsweetened, nor did the barista asked if I wanted it sweetened. Also the barista was short with me and unpleasant. I saw the barista interact with other guests and their demeanor was completely different. Also it was not crowded and it took a while for my drink to get made. Other drinks were prepared before mine of people who came after me. The one positive is it is a uniquely decorated space. I adore the espresso martinis here. i wish they could be served all the time and not just at night when the bar part is open. The oat milk in the espresso is just one of its. delightful, magical secrets. The salmon bagel is an absolute wonder. The capers add that little zing that make your mouth smile. I love coming here on Sundays in the early afternoons, right after the farmers market. I get to celebrate having gone to the market, having purchased some fresh fruit, smoked salmon (hopefully!), poke, and veggies.
