Wakin Bacon sandwich
Nasha F.

Delicious breakfast sandwich! I ordered the wakin bacon breakfast sandwich on dutch crunch bread and let me say I would definitely make the drive over just for this sandwich! I ordered online and it wasn't ready when I got there so I had to wait, but I would say the sandwich was worth it!

Extremely salty. Yuck

Terrible service even after tipping which of course they expect when you order. Food was cold because no one called my name. Extremely salty ... uneatable. Hold the tomatoes which was a fail. And the shrilling screams fromThe barresta ... out customer names. Never again.

This place still hits. Years ago I got a sandwich. About a week or so ago I ordered that same sandwich. It's still bomb. I'm a sauce guy and I think what really does it for me is the Spicy Aioli. It's not super spicy but it does have a fun kick. There's lots of flavor that blends well with the Cheddar and Bacon. I wanna try other stuff though. I know the menu isn't the biggest because it is a coffee place at its core. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think it's a chill spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm also really curious about the bar in the back. There's a decent list of cocktails that sound tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really want to bring a board game soon and just hang out here for hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To be continued for sure.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is a great little spot to work, hang out, or just get cozy with a coffee and a notebook. The space feels welcoming and comfortable, the kind of café you can easily settle into for a while.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I grabbed coffee from States Coffee but wanted something to eat, and this spot was around the clerk. The avocado toast did not disappoint. I added egg and bacon, which turned it into a full and satisfying meal. The sprouts were plentiful, and the sauce was really flavorful. One half was so filling that I saved the second half for lunch. I was originally only going to order a half since they sell the avocado toast by half or full. The cashier mentioned that the full was only three dollars more, so it was the better deal. I am really glad I took that recommendation. Overall, a solid coffee shop with good food, a cozy vibe, and a space that makes you want to stay awhile. I would definitely come back.

5 stars for their Wakin Bacon breakfast sandwhich & their Chai! The breakfast sandwhich is served on a panini breas with chipotle aioli and it's so toasty and delicious. Honestly one of the best bfast sandwiches around here. Their Chai- I haven't had authentic chai like this in a while. It's house made and you can tell, it's flavorful, not spicy, and warming. Also some of the best chai I've had around here. For the health conscious people - they have a berky water system, organic oat milk, hemp milk, and more. Much appreciated!

Martinez, you're so charming! I recently had the opportunity to walk around the downtown area of Martinez and stopped inside Barrelista Coffee House ~ a sign that read 'coffee and cocktails'..I mean, yes and yes! Super cute and cozy interior, giving antique vibes. Extremely friendly service and help with choosing a few items from the menu for a quick pit-stop with friends. We ordered toasts, flavored iced coffees, and a matcha. Toast-wise, see pics for the Avocado Toast and Loaded Vegetarian Toast. Iced Coffee wise went with the Iced Honey Latte and the Iced Mint Latte. Super yum! The toasts are massive and well -worth the order! Aesthetically pleasing to the eye and also deliciously fresh. The Avo toast is loaded, drizzled with an aioli, hemp seeds, and chili flakes with an additional spread of cream cheese and topped with a heaping mound of sprouts. The Loaded Vegetarian comes with avocado, tomato, cucumber, cream cheese, sprouts, capers, and is piled-high potentially needing a fork/knife. If visiting Barrelista for more of their cocktail vibe, it looks like they have barrel aged cocktails and a super fun drink menu I would love to come back and cheers with a few over girl talk time. All in all, craving a toast and ice coffee as I write this. Well-done, Barrelista! Checked all the boxes for satisfying our hunger and thirst needs!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Coffee shop downtown that has a bar feel inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great service and place to hang out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I met up with a few people and it's a comfortable atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The settling was quiet and relaxing when I went Saturday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered an iced vanilla chai on the left and my friend ordered a vanillA'more on the right. Both drinks had no flavor. The iced vanilla chai tasted watered down with cinnamon, I asked to add more vanilla syrup to it but it didn't do anything to the taste so not sure if it's the syrups? The VanillA'more just tasted like coffee, nothing that was written in the description which was vanilla creamy chocolate. We were both disappointed in the drinks as they both sounded very good.

Excellent customer service. Ice latte, chai and Salmon toast were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Enjoyed sitting outside in perfect weather while Farmers Market was taking place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Only wish the prices weren't so expensive for this place. For 2 drinks and toast I believe our total was around $35. Will probably come back when we are back in this area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was a popular spot for locals- singles, couples and families.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Matcha vanilla latte

Had the chance to visit this shop and work from there. I ordered a matcha vanilla latte and 1/2 salmon toast with capers and sprouts. Both were ok but nothing stood out. I did like the vibe of the inside and they played 80-90's music which suited me because I was born in the 80's. Parking using the meters was $.50 an hour on a Thursday morning.

Love the ambiance here!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the ambiance here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to do your court paperwork in peace with good mood lighting, music, food/drinks, friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean bathrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of street paid parking. 2 hr meters.

Arren C.

I really liked the area and the look of the cafe itself! I got a Vanilla iced latte (limited syrups here) but it was delicious! It wasn't watered down, not too sweet, just right. There was a decent amount of seats and I liked that the main source of lighting was from the outside! It wasn't too bright for studying. I enjoyed this place, would go again! Just wish they were open till much later.

Not really a 7 dollar 15 minute sandwich

They give you a little extra baguette on soups and sandwiches, being a bread lover, that's a plus (though I shouldn't be eating all the bread). Service is okay. A worker named alba or Elba was extremely rude to me and my little girls. I had 2 of my kids there (2 and 6 years old) she couldn't wait 2 minutes for me to deal with the kids and started asking me if I was going to pay for those chips and that "me and my girls are known for Stealing chips" very powerful words to be saying and more importantly in front of a 6 year old girl. She got so embarrassed and shock that she even tried to tell the lady that that wasn't true. Anyway, YOUR EMPLOYEE CANNOT BE DEFAMING PEOPLE and making them look and feel HORRIBLE. Do you know how many lawsuits will you be facing with a girl working for you? FIX THAT.

Just along the main strip of town, this place is busy. We stopped by early morning just a little after they were opened. Even mid week and there was a massive line already forming. They must be good. There's two entrance, first being the main where the front door is. Patio seating available along the sidewalk. And then the back entrance where the majority of the seating is outside. It's like a secret garden with all the trees and plants. Somewhat a treehouse feel as well. They have 2 levels with tables. Beautiful spot sitting there under the tree having a nice cup of joes and a beautiful pastries. Indoor also has some seating along the front and I believe there's a second floor right above the entrance. There's mainly one line for everything. You wait to place your order if you wanted pastries and food. I think you could just order drinks at counter if you're not getting food but don't quote me on that. Everyone was waiting together. Once you reach the top, there's the counter of fresh baked pastries that's made daily. Things do sell out pretty fast. We literally arrived not long after they open and the ham and cheese croissant was already sold out. Besides pastries, there's fresh baked bread. Coffee drinks were pretty good too. After you pick what you want, the cashier is at the end and that's where you pay. There's a counter at the back where drinks are picked up. The whole place has an open kitchen feel where you could actually see all the workers preparing the sweets. In the back kitchen, you could walk by and see the pastries chef preparing and putting together the fresh sweets. It's like you're part of the kitchen. It's a cute place and it does get busy. The locals know about this place so it a hot spot. The holiday makers know which their names is getting out there and making a big splash for them. We've been a few times while in town and each time, alway busy and great. Amazing pastries and good drink. It is on the pricer side but that's pretty much everywhere you go these days.

The folks here were very kind and polite. They were very helpful in ordering as well. I ended up getting the French dip sandwich. The price was pretty in line with what it is nowadays. (Early 2026) I thought the sandwich was tasty and well made. Again, I can't stress how kind the folks here were. That's why it's so disappointing that my experience ended on such a negative note. When I checked out, I was told there was a 50¢ surcharge for using my Visa debit card. I've been told this before in different purchases from this sandwich shop. But I finally asked the gentleman at the counter today about the surcharge, and he told me it was "just how the machine is." When I pulled up the information on my phone explaining that debit card surcharges generally aren't allowed, he dismissed it and said I would have to speak with the owner. When I spoke with the owner, I was hoping for a simple explanation. Instead, she became combative, brushed off my concern, and said, "Everyone around here (Benicia) does it." Which is simply not true. I wasn't trying to argue--I was simply asking about a charge that didn't seem right. The food is genuinely good, but the way my concern was handled left a bad impression. If you pay with a debit card, I'd recommend checking your receipt carefully to make sure you know exactly what you're being charged. I hope the business reviews its payment practices and takes customer concerns more seriously in the future. Before they are reported to the state's department of Justice or to the county department of weight and measures by someone for their charging practices.
