Stopped for lunch before doing the local wineries. It was hot, tasty and filling. I had the 3 cheese sandwich with green chilies and the chardonnay chicken soup. We shared their key lime pie for dessert. Best we ever had! Would definitely come here from Tucson again! read more

Over all, it was an enjoyable lunch. We ate out on the patio with our service dog and took in the beautiful scenery facing the grassy hills toward Elgin. My wife had the chicken parm sandwich and I ordered the green chili cheeseburger (which the wrongly-named "world famous" one I tried over at Sparky's in Hatch, NM a month ago should've been). Both were excellent. Only 4 stars because the waitress, who refilled the waters at two adjacent tables a couple times, never refilled our ice teas until we flagged her down and asked her to do so. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside the food was really good. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was crispy as well as seasoned perfectly. My wife and daughter split the turkey sandwich- also great. They also had local wine but do not recall which one. If you are in the Sonita area this is the place for lunch. read more

It was my first time going to Wine Country. A few of my friends and I stopped to get food after our drive in. The restaurant is cute and cozy. The staff looked young and it didn't feel like there was any management or guidance. I cut my sandwich in half and notice my grilled chicken sandwich was raw inside. The waitress came back and told me the only thing she could do was either take it back to the kitchen to grill it longer or give me 15% off. I showed her the sandwich and she said she'd see what she could do. She came back and said the only thing she could do was pay for it herself and let the owner know what happened. I didn't really feel right letting her do that so I paid for my meal and left. Never have I experienced anything like this and I am so shocked they didn't comp the meal since I barely ate it. She did offer free dessert which didn't make sense they could have just comped the meal I had to begin with. I will never go back and I think the young kids working there need better management and guidance. I know Covid has made things hard but raw chicken is inexcusable. read more

Im only giving this a 2 star rating because the staff was so nice and I enjoyed the atmosphere...the food....ugh no. The wine was good. My friend and I shared a salad and a vegetarian pasta dish. It was without flavor, no presentation and simply tasted bland. I couldn't taste a single spice or even salt. I would only go back here if I had no other choice and in Senoita, there isn't much choice and for that I'm thankful I don't live there. NO, I don't think I'd go back except to have a wine, but then again how many times in my life will I find myself in Senoita? read more

We made reservations online only to be told ummm don't have you down. Luckily they weren't busy. Love that they have local wines. We got the eggplant Parmesan and it was very good but leaving the skin on made it very tough. Also at $14 they could really add a salad or at least bread. read more

Absolutely the only decent place to eat in the Sonoita area. There were a number of specials when we went, and it was good we got there early (about 5:00) before the dinner rush. They ran out of one of the specials while we were there, so later diners were out of luck. The food was OK when compared to a more populated area, but was great for the Sonoita area. I'm not usually one to write bad reviews, but my experience here was extremely unpleasant. I took my sister and her bridal party to lunch at The Cafe as part of her bachelorette party. We were from out of town and wanted to enjoy the wineries that Sonoita has to offer. Before arriving at The Cafe, I made sure to call ahead and inform them of the party I had coming in. When we arrived they did quickly set up our table and brought us all waters, but didn't take our drink orders. The dining area was pretty busy, so we quickly put in our orders in hopes of getting our food out quickly since we had more reservations to get to. After an hour of waiting, without being checked on, the entire dining area had cleared out and we still had not received our food. Tables who had come in after us had gotten their food and left before we even got our food. I eventually did ask the waitress if our food would be coming out shortly since we were running low on time. After asking they brought our food out, but unfortunately some of our orders were wrong. We didn't have time to wait another 30 minutes, so we rolled with the punches and ate what we had not ordered. While eating, there were flies everywhere that were all over our food as we were trying to eat. After finishing up, we went to the register to pay and the waitress rudely informed me that had I called ahead to place our orders, maybe the food would have come out sooner. Again, it was my first time at the establishment, so obviously I was unaware. And the idea that I have to call my order in to a sit down restaurant in order to get my food in a reasonable amount of time is ridiculous. I definitely won't be going back. read more

We have been to The Cafe several times and our meals have been consistently excellent. The hamburgers are perhaps the best in Arizona: hand formed, tender, cooked to a perfect doneness and if you wish, a great assortment of toppings. The lightly smoked salmon that I had for dinner last week was superb. The restaurant is worth the drive, and the drive from Tucson is one of Arizona's scenic drives. Adam is an awesome chef. The restaurant waitresses/waiters provide fabulous service. The ingredients are top quality and the recipes are terrific. The best food in Cochise county! Adam Puckel and his staff have made this a destination for great food, superb wines and a good time. This locale also hosts food pairings with local wineries, music nights and other events that fill the cafe with a great mix of local cowboys, Tucson hipsters, Patagonia foodies, Sierra Vista retirees and Ft Huachuca soldiers that make for a eclectic mix of humanity. Bigfoot is known to frequent, with his Chupacabra, (it is pet friendly) and space aliens, grays in particular from Beta Reticuli, land in the back pasture, behind the building, and come into enjoy the black and blue salad, a fine selection of craft beers (both local and national) and lovingly strummed covers of classic Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell. Zeke, a local prospector adds color to the location with Chester the Beer drinking mule, who gladly guzzles beer and wine on command, after a hard day of eking out a living from the nearby whetstone mountains. Celebrities like Lionel Richey, Ru Paul, the guy who wasn't Tom Hanks in Bosom Buddies all stop by, when they're in town to enjoy the Smothered Chicken, great wine and spin yarns about Hollyweird. But, the best is for last: the apple pie!! Truly the best apple pie I've ever eaten anywhere, anytime, any day! Service was pretty slow and inattentive, but they were packed and it seemed understaffed. So I won't hold it against them too much. this place honestly surprised me! 1) it's nearly the only place to eat in Sonoita. and 2) "cafe" makes me think of greasy spoons where I'd get a fabulous hashbrown. But their menu was so much more sophisticated than that! The special was a lamb burger the day we went. and they were very willing to help create burgers for us that pulled together a few of the differing options on the menu into one, which is nice. I got the green chili burger, and it was cooked to a medium rare just like I asked. the fries were amazing - hot, crispy, and plentiful. We got a nice bottle of local wine to enjoy with the burgers. and as a really nice special touch, someone told them it was my birthday so they gave us one of their desserts for free. so nice! we got their pistachio and butterscotch brownie sundae - wow! So tasty! between the 4 of us we licked that thing clean! great service too! the waitstaff was really friendly, quick to help, and when we had a small issue with one of the orders being inaccurate, they quickly fixed it in a very nice way. we even bonded over acting like little kids when it started snowing and all ran outside to take pictures :-) read more

The Cafe is the BEST place to eat in Sonoita. Being a local I have tried all of our small restaurants. The Cafe is the best. If you are in for lunch Chef Adam's burgers are to die for!! If you are in for dinner get the Shrimp Bacon Alfredo it is out of this world! Also, there are always three new specials each day, always unique and always YUMMY! The atmosphere is relaxed and all the wait staff is great! The patio is awesome at night when the sun goes down. If you are in Sonoita for the day be sure to head to The Cafe! read more

Went to Sonoita/Patagonia 1/21/13. Toured Patagonia twice looking for a place to have lunch but there was nowhere open which looked like it would offer anything edible. Headed back to Sonoita but no restaurants were open til we stumbled on the Cafe. By then I didn't expect much but we were delightfully surprised. The black 'n blu salad was perfect. All of the greens, including on side salads, were crisp and fresh. Homemade burgers were quite tasty although medium was a trifle medium rare. Grilled cheese sandwich with pesto was wonderful. I will be back next time I am in Sonoita. Very attractive decor as well. read more

I thought long and hard about writing this review because I live in Sonoita and I do try to support the local businesses. However, today wasn't the first time we could not get our food due to mistakes in the kitchen. While at least three other tables got their food before us, they could not even get it together to bring our soup and side salad before the three other tables were fully served. We politely protested reminding them how long we'd been waiting. We finally, for the second time in recent history and after waiting approximately an hour, left without eating. It's not the wait time, it's the unfairness of having to sit there while others who came in after you were served first. They did comp our drinks this time, but the experience, once again, left us with a very bitter taste. read more

We were in the wine country and asked the owners of Rancho Rossa Vineyards where would be a great place to eat. They recommended The Cafe, at the end of town in Sonoita. The place had a good crowd and everyone seemed happy. There were three lunch specials along with 15 or so regular menu items. I ordered the Ape Burger. It was a monster. Juicy, cooked perfectly, and great tasting. I accompanied this with a glass of local Cabernet Sauvignon. Nothing fancy about the restaurant, but the food was fantastic and it didn't leave a smoking hole in my pocket when it came to paying the bill. read more

My husband and I took a trip to Sonoita last weekend and stopped for lunch at The Cafe. We sure are glad that we did. We both ordered the hamburger and they were both cooked to perfection. When you visit Sonoita, everyone will tell you to eat at The Café. It's not fancy, but the inexpensive food and service were just perfect. Charming Heather showed us to our table, but the real star was Lindsey, our waitress, who also had made the cheesecake on the dessert menu. A winemaker we visited later said, "Lindsey, oh yeah, great baker." Anyway, Lindsey is from upstate New York, and she brings a cosmopolitan touch to this rural café with her articulate, straightforward style and her casual chic attire. Two of us had excellent eggplant parmesan sandwiches, one with regular fries and the other with sweet potato fries, both of which were delicious. The cole slaw was traditional creamy southern style, which my friend loves (but I prefer slaw with light vinaigrette dressing). We were too full for dessert, so Lindsey packed up a to-go box: berry cobbler, berry pie, peach cobbler, and cheesecake.
