The Cakery rocks my socks. I went today for my first consultation for a wedding cake and was immediately impressed. It was fun to see all the women in the back, working on cakes (I walked in the wrong door, which for them may have been awkward but for me, was awesome.) Our consultant Andrea took the time to listen to my design ideas, and offered her own as well. She didn't flinch when I mentioned crazy things like double tiers, and chimed in with neat ideas and different options for sizing. The consultation was very comprehensive and covered everything I had curiosity and questions about. Their designs were also top-notch. Very modern, beautiful, with attention to detail throughout. The cake itself was also crazy delicious - although I prefer the buttercream at Cravings, the banana cake from The Cakery was simply divine. Between the banana cake deliciousness, great service, and attention to design, The Cakery won me over and I will definitely be using this establishment for my big day :) read more

They did my wedding cake and it was AWESOME. So many people told me it was the best cake they'd ever had. I was esp thrilled because at some other places we had looked I was going to have to compromise and get a simpler design than I wanted to stay in budget but here I got something even prettier than I thought I would. Honestly I never thought I would get such a pretty wedding cake. Plus everyone I knew told me not to bother freezing the top tier because it would be disgusting in a year but I followed their directions carefully and I swear it was nearly as good as it was fresh! They were so nice to work with and the product was amazing. Of the 4 places we priced it was second to lowest but the lowest was not very nice. The cakery was amazing to work with for our bridal shower order. Mary was so kind and accomodating. At the end of the visit we had everything planned out and it all turned out perfect! I was late on that, and ordered a standard bday cake (which they did write upon) I didn't understand chocolate cream icing came with chocolate cake inside and was worried it would be too much chocolate. Came here to get a birthday cake and it was delicious! A small non-descript 2 shop space in dogtown, but they are busy! Walk in and there's dozens of cakes to be picked up! They needed at least a 1 week notice, but they always have a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, and a german dark chocolate cake "ready-to-go". I got the former and boy was it moist and scrumptious! The buttercream is very light and not too sweet. The cake was decorated with fun multicolored sprinkles! I'll certainly be back and with ample time to order a custom cake next time! read more

While I normally am not one to write a terrible review and in fact just simply do not review places worthy of such a low rated review, there was something unique about my experience at The Cakery. My wife and two young daughters came to town to see family during the Lunar New Year. I wanted my wife to be able to celebrate it to the best of my ability, so I wanted to get a cake made. It was last minute, and I absolutely did not expect something to be available to be custom made with such short notice and was simply hoping for something to be written on the cake. I called around after checking yelp for the best bakeries in town. I called the cakery and besides being conveniently located and well priced, they could customize any of their pre-made cakes. They said they could write Happy Lunar New Year on the front of the cake. So I drove on over with my three year old daughter who likes playing my sidekick. I selected a french vanilla cake. They then asked what I wanted written on the front - mind you I had called previously and asked if I could get Happy Lunar New Year written - and when I said Happy Lunar New Year, they laughed in my face and said are you serious? It is not as bad as when I was asked what country I got my child from, but it was incredibly offensive and especially so considering I walked in there with my clearly Asian looking daughter. I know I am an endangered species - white male - but I find it offensive to be treated with such disgust and insensitivity. I will never again eat a cake from this place if at an event nor will I spend a dime on this company's products. I am no snowflake, this was not right whatsoever. The day came, my Grandparents were celebrating their 80th birthdays. So I called up and placed an order for a french vanilla cake, raspberry filling and vanilla butter cream frosting. We happened to have an abundance of cake leftover which I took into work after my wedding...still delicious half a week later and making everyone in my office come ask where I got it from! The owner of the Cakery does a great consultation appointment with you and walks you through your options. The cake for the sampling was SO incredible we knew we couldn't wait until our wedding to have more. So, I tell you about "cake in a cup." They sell you these amazing little indulgences of cake from leftover cakes and whatnot and they are fantastic. For my wedding, they had perfect service and everything was exactly how we wanted it to be. (Even better!) The cake was delivered to the reception area and was waiting for us. They included great instructions on how to freeze your "topper" for your anniversary. I highly recommend them for everything from your wedding cake to your kids cake pops and cookies. I have done cookies for baby showers from here and they are fabulous! They are very upfront with everything (you need to freeze them if you are using them as take away gifts). They will work with your budget, ie they suggest what will fit into it. They are great with ideas! We are ordering our wedding cake here as well. We had to change our original idea due to budget b/c of an unfortunate change of reception venue. They were VERY understanding and very helpful with the revision. Everything I had hoped for and more. I ordered a cake for my mother's birthday and selected a gorgeous peony looking vanilla cake with lemon filling. Holy damn did they deliver! So pretty and the cake was YUM!!!! One small small thing was the icing was a tad too sweet for us, but that's probably because there was so much of it. My daughter and I stumbled upon this lovely place taking back roads to get around a train. And I am So glad we did! We ran in and got a couple of football cookies and two sample bowls of different cakes; strawberry cake with vanilla and yellow cake with chocolate. About six months ago I ordered a groom's cake for my rehearsal dinner. I found an idea for the cake decoration on Pinterest and sent the image to them via email. I totally forgot about all of this until the afternoon of my rehearsal. I hurriedly picked up the cake from their cute storefront and was so happy to see the decoration exactly how I had imagined. It was honestly even better than what I had found on Pinterest. They explained how we should keep the cake until serving later that evening. They also have very tempting cake with frosting in a mason jar. I refused that day because of the wedding, but I will be back for the mason jar of cake soon! I ordered a cake here for my Hawaiian luau party, and it was AMAZING. The cake was beautifully decorated with intricate hibiscus flowers and palm trees. It was almost too pretty to cut. Almost. We ordered two cakes which traveled with us to the Ozarks for our wedding. The staff worked with us to ensure the cakes were cold and easy to transport (they were not tiered cakes, so I cannot speak to traveling with tiers), as well and working with us to develop our design. Our cakes were delicious and beautiful! We got tons of compliments on both the lemon/raspberry and chocolate/rum, with most guests trying both. Every trip to consult or pay was great. I had to have raspberry buttercream, and they immediately informed us of its limitations for design (the fruit makes it too soft to pipe on) and showed us the texture options, which were lovely. The staff was always friendly, and there was always a beautiful creation to take in, and a tasty treat to take home to remind me why we only did one cake tasting. We had a separate cake Indian theme cake topper, which we ordered, and the cakery placed it on the cake perfectly. Butter cream is always great and the cakery does it amazingly well.
