There are so many great things to explore at the Camp. Yeah, the parking is not the greatest, but I've always walked here so that has never really concerned me. I love the variation in food options, although it's sad that some good places have had to close their doors due to the high rent and bad parking situation. You can buy a sweet Patagonia outfit at Seed Market, grab a coffee and pastry at Black Market Bakery, and get a delicious gelato at Vitaly all in one visit. Pretty great! read more

Discovering this place is probably one of the best things to have happened to me since moving here to So Cal. Granted I don't live in the area, I find an excuse to come here every chance I get. I usually don't come here to buy anything materialistic... I'm always here for the food. I love East Borough for their banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee, Old Vine Cafe for their brunch menu and quaint little set up, Native Foods for their Ensalada Azteca Salad, Taco Asylum for their creative tacos and beer selection during dinner, and the list continues! In a very estranged sense, this is almost like a small piece of San Francisco to me as if this was a small piece of Golden Gate Park ripped out and placed here in the Costa Mesa. WORD OF ADVICE: Parking can get tricky especially towards the evening and weekends. Good luck with that! There certainly are things to love... but this place just isn't as cool as it makes itself out to be. I like the clever writing they have for each parking space. Perhaps they do that to alleviate the impending stress and hatred their customers will have when they realize there are 300 cars looking for 50 spaces. Perhaps they could have planned their "camp" better -- thinking it over how many parking spots would be needed for all of the businesses. Oh how I dread parking there. The food is mostly good but a little over-priced -- shopping is okay. Gotta love that vegan place though... The decor is straight out of Arizona. They certainly win a "unique" award, but it doesn't necessarily mean that new is good or better. Check out the CAMP if you dare, but for the goodness sakes WALK there... don't try to park there. read more

It's green and eco like and has the feel of a glampground! I want to work for this company, really I do! Been wanting to go here for awhile during the day time! It's right across from the LAB and I love both of these places despite the fact that it is pretty small. It's super hipster and aesthetic here and I appreciate the vibe that both of these places have. Love the aspect and ideas they incorporated to this place to give it the "camp" feel. Like the LAB they have some cute trailers where they sell nifty items. They have more food stuff over stores and shops in comparison to the LAB. But if you're in the area definitely check out the both of these places since they're right next to each other! read more

The Camp is a really aesthetically, pleasing place to go to if one is looking to have a bite to eat, catch up with friends, or window shop. However, the parking is really terrible and is tough to find parking because everyone is fighting for their lives to get into a spot. Luckily, they have free valet with validation, which is definitely convenient if you don't want to spend time looking for parking. During my last experience on 7/26/2016, parking was terrible and really busy, so I went to valet. There, I met a nice and friendly gentleman named Martin who offered to valet my car. He was very professional and reassured me that car would be well taken care of. I appreciated that he was able to address my concerns so well. After finishing up dinner, when I went to pick up my car, I was informed that Martin was on his break, so I was helped out by Jimmy and Kyle who helped me to my car. They were quick, professional and kind, as they returned my vehicle for me. I appreciated their hard work and would definitely recommend valet to making both your life and theirs much easier! read more

I live and work in the area and am a frequent patron of the CAMP. The various shops and eateries offer something to every visitor. The atmosphere is enjoyable for people who just want to chill as well.. Depends on the time of the day, the parking can be hectic, but one can always choose to valet. So why the two stars? Well, I came here for a birthday lunch yesterday and had the rather unpleasant experience of stepping in a pile of dog poop in the middle of the walkway! Now I fully support folks who bring their dogs to the CAMP, because why not? Our furry friends can certainly appreciate the awesome environment CAMP has to offer, but PLEASE PLEASE be conscientious in picking up your dog's droppings, so others don't accidentally step in them and ruin their new Vans!!! I wish the management would post signs to remind the dog owners that not only it is unsanitary, but also unlawful to leave their dog's feces in public places. read more

Not really sure how to describe this place. It's a small outdoor mall that has a very chill vibe to it. You really have to come check it out and see what it's about. 75% of the stores/restaurants I have never heard of. Maybe it's b/c I've been living in Richmond the past 13 yrs of my life. They have an Active Ride Shop which is similar to a Tillys and has street/skate board clothing that's pretty cool. They also had another shop that we checked out (forgot the name) that was similar to and REI but had a lot more specific outdoor gear: hiking, swimming, etc. There are these little huts outside that say "camp" where you can just sit and relax and people watch if you want to. They also have a hammock and we saw a couple snuggling on there which was a little awkward. Plenty of small shops to check out and good eats too. A lot of the stuff here is pricey but then again, it's also in Costa Mesa. P.S.- they have valet parking here.. enough said read more

Coming out of sleepy Irvine, the Camp (and not to mention the Lab) is definitely a breath of fresh air. With unique stores that promote health and an organic lifestyle as well as restaurants that are all very good, what more can you ask for in such a small space? My "camp" favorites, in no particular order, are: SEED, milk + honey, Native Foods Cafe, Taco Asylum, East Borough... actually, I like everything at the Camp!! So here's the deal with the camp, it's cool little place with lots of good eat options for sure! That is a 4-5 stars depending on where you go. However, the parking here stinks!!! No matter what time you come, especially on the weekend, good luck finding parking. Every single time I come, I drive around and around for parking. They seem to have taken some parking away towards the back now as well but the valet looks like it was gone, at least this last time I went. It's just awful!!! So stoked this is my 600th review=) The Camp is a very interesting place. Up until yesterday (06-09-2013) I had no idea this place even existed. I just happened to be in the area and was hungry. I thought I would search out Vegan food options around the John Wayne Airport when to my surprise I was alerted there was a Native Foods Café located within 'The Camp.' I asked myself what in the heck is 'The Camp?' The Camp was very easy to find. I pulled into the parking lot and noticed that instead number to indicate what your parking space # was there were words and/or sayings spray painted on the ground. My first impression was that each one of the parking spaces was individually assigned to a particular business; it wasn't until I slowed to a stop and realized the words spray painted on the ground were not assigning that space to a particular business but were inspiration messages. I thought this was a really cool idea. I parked and began walking around the parking lot and found really cool inspiration messages spray painted on the parking spaces (see attached photos). I walked into The Camp and found everything to feel very Earthy and Yoga'ish (not a word). The Camp is laid out in a fashion that truly makes you feel at home and comfortable right off the bat. The walkways at The Camp are wooden planks and it truly makes you feel like you are walking down an old battered Ocean Pier. The way The Camp has laid out the businesses makes it quite inviting to shop here. If you want to come here to take a Bikram Yoga class The Camp has you covered. If you want to come and shop, The Camp has you covered (some of the shops are High end like Patagonia). If you want to come here on a cold (Yes it does get cold in Southern California) Winter night and enjoy an outdoor fire while you sip on Hot Chocolate The Camp has you covered. If you want to come and chill and watch a fountain while relaxing in one of the little alcove that The Camp has while you people watch, The Camp has you covered. If you want to come and have a great meal at the several restaurants located here The Camp has you covered. I do wish I lived closer to The Camp but I don't=( BUT now that I know this place is here I will definitely be coming back for more. I REALLY dig this place. I grew up in Costa Mesa so ridiculous themed locations like south coast plaza the lab and the camp have always been an everyday occurence- the hippy all natural place is tasty, the outfitters store has cool stuff that I have bought and Valhalla table can convince me that I ought to try a blueberry beer- apparently putting delicious wieners in your mouth makes you do crazy things- no...putting wieners in your mouth is also crazy- at least for me, but when you are at valhalla you won't be able to help yourself- this place is amazing!!!! I have not tried a better hot dog place- sorry Jerry's... I don't use the term "hotdog" as aninsult but just as an equalizer. read more

OC hipster strip mall, I think I like you. While almost a bit too predictable with its succulent gardens, weathered wood and neutral palette, I did enjoy my time spent at this mall. It's good for eating and has a couple of cool shops to browse in. Prepare to witness lots of men in hoodies, beards and black framed glasses---ladies wear is Coachella-ready. Me, I am in neither sartorial camp (I'm old,), but still enjoyed this place more that the nearby Costa Mesa Mall. At least it felt like something a little different. Many people deem this place as "hipster central", and I can see why they think that way. It's a very cute, hip, and adorable little shopping center. THE DETAILS: Located by Bristol and Baker, don't mistaken this place for The Lab which is across the street. Parking can sometimes be a hassle because this place tends to get crowded, but the little inspirational words where you park is absolutely adorable. There are so many little quirks that make this place so amazing. Trailer parks, mailbox menus, random seating, pretty staircase, and yarn bombing... this place has so much personality! THE SHOPS: I usually roam around the various stores at the Camp but I've only shopped at Active. It's a fairly big Active with a tons of women and men's clothing and shoes. The employees are friendly and helpful. THE FOOD: I eat here more than I shop here. I've had Native Foods, Umami Burger, Old Vine Cafe, and Vitaly. These places are all very different from one another. I love all of the food places at the Camp and I would love to try all the other places here as well. THE DRINKS: Milk + Honey, my ultimate favorite at the Camp. It's really the only reason why I come to the Camp just for Milk + Honey. THE END? I adore the Camp so much! I absolutely love the vibe of this plaza! Every inch of this place is so unique and well decorated. It definitely gives off that "hipster" vibe. I also love how this place promotes positivity. There was a staircase with a long quote, and at every parking space there's a short phrase that speaks of some kind of positive encouragement. Although, the plaza itself is kind of small, and there's not many parking spaces, this place is definitely worth the visit. There's a variety of places to shop, and eat here! Also I was really excited about the ramen place and I walked around looking for it for 30 minutes before I found out it wasn't open. I ended up eating at the Italian place and my food was delicious. I loved walking around and shopping a little after I was done eating. I could have spent all day here. I highly recommend. The CAMP is a great place that gives off a hipster vibe. Perfect place to hangout with friends or go on a date or even have a lunch outing with your family members! They have a variety of popular restaurants that are hip these days such as the Umami Burger and Milk & Honey Dessert Cafe. However my favorite is Native Foods restaurant which is extremely popular for vegetarians since it is based off on vegetarian foods. Besides the restaurant, the decor gives off a modern-hipster ambiance with mailboxes and cute chairs lying around. They also have a shop and a bakery to shop around. The parking is not too bad since they do offer valet parking; however, on weekends it can get pretty crowded during peak hours (Friday Saturday nights) I went on a Tuesday lunch and it wasn't a hassle. I've also been there on a Sunday lunch and I was lucky to find a spot. But definitely worth it to check it out :) read more

Bf and I come to The Camp on occasion, and we do enjoy the times that we visit, but it's not the shopping center that we will always frequent. Parking can be a big pain. Majority of the time, there is no parking (even on a weekday), and you'll have to sort of stalk other patrons to see if you can take their parking space as they leave. Otherwise, you do have the valet option. Yes, it's a hipster shopping center. Mostly, there's only around 4 real retail stores (SEED Market is our favorite) and around a dozen or so food vendors/restaurants. It's a very clean place, and it is pretty. I think our biggest discomfort is that we don't really fit in. We don't really have the budget to do a hipster lifestyle, either. But, they do have good products and really good service in most of the places we went to. So, it's a good place to check out, but it's not for us to go to regularly. Prices are, of course, a little bit higher, too. read more

So last night my wife and I are at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Costa Mesa when a couple of younger "kids" are talking about the Camp. After bringing it up several times, I asked what the Camp was and they tell me all about it. One of the kids worked at Tacos Asylum and suggested I go for the rotating inventory of craft beers. We never made it to Tacos Asylum but we did come and went to the Black Market Bakery and it was pretty phenomenal. I will Review the Black... separately but the Camp is a very interesting group of restaurants. Parking was tough this Sunday afternoon but we were able to take advantage of the Valet. I hope to come back soon to see some of the other places in and around the Camp. read more

The CAMP is one of my favorite chill spots when I am with friends. This little area is known for sure for its class. The ambiance of the area is just a relaxing place that gives you an outdoorsy feel. It's honestly, really hipster and pretty pricey. I usually go to either The Camp or The Lab (across the street). Which draws me to Camp more is the wine bar. I really enjoy the company of the wine barista and the flavorful wines. The only down side is that they close in the early evening. Mesa is a cool place too. Sometimes they have live bands and the restaurant has a low lighting feel. It's a nice place for a quick bite, conversation, and drinks. Overall, I recommend going for the look of the places around there. The coffee shops are a definite MUST as well, if you are a coffee connoisseur. read more

I came here with my girlfriend who is disabled and I was very disappointed to see that for some reason the disabled parking spots were roped off. Every single one except one that was pretty far away. Parking here is hard enough, but this made it beyond reasonable. Maybe there was a good reason to restrict parking, but clearly the disabled are an afterthought here. Avoid if you're coming with a person with disabilities. There are far more accommodating places in California. read more

THE CAMP An outdoor version of a mall that is definitely green thumb, progressive, hip, and surprisingly share common themes of community capacity. Which includes empowerment, social capital, skills and resources people bring together for common interests that influence their quality of life. At least that's what I took out of it. [Location] Sort of hidden but has 2 monument arcs or creative signs that spell out its name. Free parking is in the back and good amount. They have valet...pretty hip. [What's there] Specialized stores (novelty), restaurants, and a store that includes yoga classes (studio?) I'm really unfamiliar with what they have but have to say fascinated about the design and what they offer. I did step inside the Black-market Bakery and its pretty wicked.
