This was my first time here and now I'm so sad they're closing. The atmosphere is great--we sat on the street side for appetizers and drinks. When our waitress asked if she could cash us out, we took the opportunity to move to the back deck with the water view. I couldn't choose which I preferred. Drinks were meh, but one of our group highly recommends the lemoncello spritzer. The food? OMG. The food was amazing. Everyone at our table of five raved about appetizers and entrées. If they were not closing, I would make this restaurant an annual stop during our vacation! read more

Jamie W and I were walking our way back from Boy Beach where there were plenty of boys and some actual men as well (review: https://yelp.to/24M6YE1uvS). The eye candy must've made us peckish (pardon the pun) because as we strolled into town, we kept our eyes out for an inviting place to nosh. Bubala's met our immediate requirement with a huge outdoor terrace with plenty of open tables available. We just grabbed one with the clearest view of the passing meat parade. We had dinner ahead of us at Sal's, so we decided to split the $17 Fresh Tuna Salad Sandwich which was pretty tasty since the tuna was rubbed with spice and mixed with a buttermilk dill dressing and layered with tomato slices on whole wheat toast. It came with fries which always makes life better (Photo 10). Prime seating for watching the world go by on Commercial Street - and good eats! Service was prompt, friendly and professional. I enjoyed the fish of the day which was a pan seared white fish with fresh green beans and roasted baby potatoes. Delish! Prices were what I'd expect for the location. We went for dinner and enjoyed it very much. I had the portobello sandwich and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were excellent as was the service. The woman who served us was pleasant, efficient and engaging. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again today. Different server. Different experience. After waiting close to 30 minutes for our food, I asked him where our food was. He responded that he doesn't cook it, he just serves it. What??? I suggested that perhaps he could check. He came back and said it was "on the board", whatever that means and asked if we wanted to cancel. At first we said no, we're hungry, but after thinking about how rude this server was, we decided to leave. This place has a ton of outdoor seating, so if you want that it's worth checking out. But food wise, there are better options. The menu is Cajun and Italian and has burgers and coastal dishes. I got fish and chips to play it safe but even that was a little off, not beer battered, thick coat of cornmeal and fairly small. After a long hike at Race Point, we came to Ptown looking for cold beer and fried clams. A community patrol officer suggested Bubulas. No fried clams. Oh well. We got steamers and all four of us had lobster rolls - such a sacrifice . Draft and bottled beer selection was good; service was attentive on this steamy afternoon. Oh, if we'd only known they offer free parking for guests before we paid $30 on the pier. The harbor-side tables were all occupied so we sat on the street-side patio. It was ok and shaded by umbrellas but lacked ambiance. If you're into people watching, you'll probably prefer street-side. read more

We finally got the opportunity to check out Bubala's for dinner. We had been a few times prior for lunch and brunch and had a decent enough time, but I'm glad we finally went at night because their dinner entrées are surprisingly quite good! I would describe the overall vibe at Bubala's as casual and no-nonsense... more of what I would consider a rustic, beach town aesthetic. In other words, the place features basic weather-proof furniture, lots of outside dining space (although they have plenty of seating inside), and plenty of beach decor and colors. Speaking of food, for lunch, I've tried a number of their handhelds--burgers and sandwiches. All are pretty good, but I especially like their fries. Some of the stand out entrées that we tried at dinner included the Seafood Cassoulet and Cod in Parchment. Oh, and the wings were quite tasty, too! Final thoughts = Check this place out if you hit up Provincetown. You likely won't have to wait long, and there's bound to be something on the menu that satisfies any craving you might have. read more

Wanted to get a drink after dinner on our first night in town on vacation. It was rainy and we ended up here. I got a bloody mary and oysters and my partner had a mudslide and a basket of bread which we shared. The food and drinks were pretty good, but nothing special. A whole meal here might have been enjoyable. The waiter was kind of brusque and less than friendly. I was here several years ago as well for a meal and I vaguely remember it being mediocre, though my partner's meal was pretty awful. read more

My family and I had a great meal at Bubala's. The host and our server were very nice. The server was very helpful answering our questions and explaining the specials that night. Don't be fooled by the looks of it - it looks like a casual tavern. This is a gem in P-town. Fresh delicious food, quiet atmosphere and high demand. We were at the back patio for dinner. I had the cod in parchment - soft cod with herbs, potatoes and asparagus baked in a parchment. Very flavorful; enjoyed every bite! We also got the beet salad (beets on a bed of arugula) and the Greek tacos. For the Greeks out there: those are soft taco tortilla filled with ground lamb and topped with tzatziki sauce. Stopped by here for lunch because we saw a lot of open tables and that they allow dogs. I would say it's pretty "meh" here as far as food, drinks, and venue go. It was fine for our purposes. We had just arrived and were hungry. This place was quick and fairly cheap. As someone with celiac who has to eat gluten free, there weren't really options here for me. But I did have the lamb & tzatziki taco which was good. For us, this place served its purpose in giving us quick bites and allowing pets. But I wouldn't prioritize here for a nicer meal. read more

Dog friendly outdoor front and back patio seating! Come for the $6 veggie side dishes (we enjoyed the broccolini and that price point is hard to beat!) but skip the pastas. Back patio is oceanside with views. We had come based on reports that it was local fave but the food didn't live up to expectations. The portions were slightly confusing. My clam linguini featured slightly sandy clams on top a massive mount of linguini. On the other hand, the husband's sausage rigatoni was portioned like an appetizer. Both dishes were slightly underwhelming. I think we would visit again, the next time we're in Ptown but maybe we'd try their burgers or something else on the menu! read more

Food is abysmal. Won't make sick or run to the toilet but that's the only upside. The mussels which are a known sig dish created by a former chef now elsewhere - so terrible yesterday. Over cooked and dried cream broth, like it had been stewing forever. Sashimi was dried out. Bruschetta was barely edible. Trading on its long lost past. Eat elsewhere. Hostess. Waitress. Busser. People love this place in part because of the great front patio and people watching. The drinks we had were nicely made and strong. Good combinations. The service was generally good even for a large party. I had some seafood stew and found it to be middling to good. Especially for the prices. Others in our party really enjoyed the seafood. This place had nice parking, and outdoor area. I found the bartender to be super helpful at helping me with my wheat allergy. I had little expectation from this place as no place in ptown can have good parking, views, patios, friendly service and good food. Well it did. The famous fish stew was amazing, spicy and yummy. Perfect location to people watch and enjoy good food. My friend wanted to go here because of the steamers. He remembered they were good a number of years ago and wanted to check it out again. They were still in COVID mode and spaces is out. Bummer to break up the group of 8 but understandable. We were close enough. The space usually is packed with people outside and they also have indoor and a smaller patio out by the water. So many options. The menu offers options for all and of course the streamers which were a huge hit. And when I say huge...I mean they were huge! It was our first time to PTown and we didn't realize most places close around 3 and reopen for dinner. So we were looking for a place still serving food when we found this place. We were seated close to the deck but since we had a larger group we couldn't fit on the deck. Our server was fantastic, great personality. My son got a burger, my husband got the Havana sandwich, my other son ordered the ribs w/ some calamari and I got the chowder and a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Everything came pretty quickly. The ribs were tender and well sauced but the calamari was missing the "Cajun" seasoning. My salad was pretty basic nothing really stood out about it. The chowder was not a good representation of NE chowder. Pretty flavorless and not thick. My husband said his Havana was decent but again nothing stood out about it. My son DID like their fries though. I would say it was an all right lunch, not sure if it was worth what we paid though. Guess you take what you can get in a pinch! read more
