    Sunset on trivia night
    Jill H.

We had a blast at Provincetown Brewing last night. Monday night = trivia night! Great option if you appreciate fun atmosphere, festive patios where you can can a glimpse of the sunset, and sampling craft beer! We arrived a little before 7 to get a seat and chose to sit outside. If you are coming for trivia night, the place will fill up - inside and out. The deal is, you find your preferred seat and order at the counter. We'd already eaten and didn't order food. Trivia is $25 per team to play. The beertenders were both friendly, helpful and efficient, keeping the lines that formed later in the evening moving. The craft beer is decent if not particularly inventive. Except the names - I love the names! My husband's favorite was the double IPA (Double Rainbow). He also enjoyed the Bearded Mistress, more of a hazy IPA than a classic IPA. The cranberry sour didn't have lots of cranberry, the "sour" is what came through most. The coffee stout (Asphalt Glitter) was just okay. The highlight was the trivia night atmosphere. The trivia game doesn't take itself too seriously. The trivia hosts kept the game moving at a good pace. 4 rounds in all. 1 & 3 we're typical questions. Rounds 2 & 4 were visual, meaning you have to look at the screen to determine the answer. That was a fun twist and also made for quick rounds. We didn't win, but we sure had a good time!

I've been to nearly 300 breweries, and this one stands out as the most unique. It's remarkable for how it shares and spreads its beliefs, something I've never encountered at any other brewery. I found it creative and brave to openly express their convictions. Upon entering, the brewery's large space offers plenty of seating both inside and outside. We chose to sit at the picnic tables outside. It was an active and lively place; while we were enjoying our drinks, someone approached our table to invite us to participate in a card game, which we politely declined. I sampled the Pale Ale and the lager, preferring the Pale Ale, which is my usual choice along with hazy beers. The beer was good, and the overall experience was different but enjoyable. The brewery's location outside the busy part of town adds to its charm.

Provincetown Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Provincetown, Massachusetts in August 2019. It was founded by business partners Chris Hartley and Erik Borg. Hartley had grown up as a queer youth in Reno (NV) and had no idea that openly LGBTQ+ communities existed. He finally relocated to Provincetown in 2012 and was happy to find a community that was so inclusive and diverse. One thing that surprised him was that Provincetown didn't have a brewery. He later partnered up with Borg and the two set out to open the town's first brewery. Hartley apprenticed at Turtle Swamp Brewery in Boston and worked closely with the brewmaster to create the first beers for his own brand. Hartley and Borg acquired a space that was formerly home to the 141 Bradford Natural Market. The partners decided to keep the market's kitchen staff and several of the old menu items. When building the brand, Hartley settled on an idea called "#draftivism", in which the brewery will give back a portion of its profits to non-profit organizations. My family and I visited PBC on our recent week-long trip to the Cape. We were spending the whole day in Provincetown and stopped at the brewery for lunch. The place was very cozy; customers could sit at a booth, at the bar, in a lounge, or outside. We all settled on some comfy couches in the lounge area. I ordered a sampler flight which included two Hard Seltzers, a Fruited Sour, a Blonde Ale, a Coffee Stout, an IPA, and a Double IPA. The latter, called "Double Rainbow", was my favorite; it was rich and hoppy! For food, I had the "Hot Beef Shawarma" (Mediterranean spiced beef, hummus, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, chili paste, warm flatbread), my wife had the "Stuffed Full-afel" (crispy homemade falafel, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, parsley, chili paste, tahini sauce, warm pita), our son had the "Southern-Style Chicken Tenders" (four crispy chicken tenders, sidewinder fries, PBC honey mustard), sister-in-law had the "Jerk Chicken Sandwich" (Jamaican jerk chicken, House made slaw, spicy aioli, griddled bread), mother-in-law had the "Zesty Asian Cabbage Salad" (shredded cabbage, cilantro, basil, sunflower seeds, gochutgaru chili, coconut milk dressing), and father-in-law had the "10" Pretzel" (PBC Golden Hook Beer cheese, Bearded Mistress mustard, salt). In addition to PBC's great food and beer, we must say that the staff and patrons alike were the friendliest people! We had a very nice lunch experience at PBC and would definitely go again on a future trip to P-Town!

    Nachos

Last time we were in P'town, we stopped at this Brewery for lunch. I was very happy and surprised to see nachos on the menu of a brew pub that usually is known for beer and sandwiches. I decided to get it. My husband got a sandwich. The nachos were actually very nicely done. I love nachos so I am very picky about them, I like them oven baked, with real melted cheese, nice fresh toppings with nice spicy jalapeños. This one was not bad for a brew pub. Loaded with toppings and good size. The turkey club sandwich was also very nicely done. Nice toasted bread with good moist tasting turkey. We sat outside and enjoyed some nice social distancing from the other tables. Friendly staff.

Super happy about what we ordered. Not super hungry so we split the BLT and sweet potato fries. Thankfully we split because it is two great size halves. The bacon is not your run of the mill grocery store bacon. It is like hickory smoke thick bacon and obviously the bread is made somewhere locally. Very nice. Can't wait to come back. Beer is tasty as well.

Well what is not to love about a small local owned brewery! This place is super cute for sure a place to sit around drink some great beer and do a bit of work or meet up with some friends. My absolute favorite thing about this place besides the great brew has to be the decor. All the beers were pretty fantastic, although most of them are brewed in Boston due to the water rights in Ptown. I am glad it is their own recipes for sure and their own unique names of the beers is fantastic. My favorite was for sure the golden hook ale, very nice and crisp with the right amount of grapefruit which made it a little bitter sweet for sure. This beer would for sure be my choice of drink for a nice summery day. As all the other beers were delicious the food was pretty tasty as well. Ended up ordering poutine and artichoke cheese dip which paired up well with the beers that were ordered. I am also very glad that they had a few non alcoholic beverages to get as well for friends that don't drink. This place has to be one of my favorite stops on this trip because it had all the things that I loved. Great beer and an even better decor.

    Golden Hook Ale
    Aleksandr F.

This is a queer brewery. Nice interior and friendly stuff. My wife ordered frozen mango ice cream. It was delicious, but my beer (Golden Hook Ale) wasn't. I drank only half of pint. Actually I felt strange smell from my beer glass. So just 3/5

Fabulous stop for Bearded Mistress IPA and nachos. Friendly, attentive service and great vibe. The owners get how customers like to be treated.

Next, we shared the Cape Cod Fish Fry and it was perfect. The fish was fresh and the batter was crisp but not greasy. It was possibly the best mixed fried seafood plate I've had so far. I also had a glass of white wine, which was good. The bartender was attentive and nice. The interior was cool and cozy. I would definitely return to this place.

EXTREMELY DISTURBING EXPERIENCE WITH THE WAITER!…read more This took place around 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 4. Our group consisted of three couples dining together. At the end of the meal, we asked if the bill could be split into thirds. Our waiter, Martin P., told us that he would not split the check and instead instructed us to write down exactly what each person ordered so that he could charge us separately. Although no other restaurant we visited in Provincetown required us to do this, we followed his instructions and listed our individual items. When Martin returned, he was visibly upset and stated that our payments were approximately $70 short. There was confusion because our group was trying to determine who had already paid, who had not, and whether something had been missed in the calculations. I even asked whether we were expected to calculate individual tax amounts ourselves, as no one knew what tax would be for each separate charge. Rather than calmly helping us resolve the discrepancy, Martin began yelling at our group. At one point he stated, "If I don't get $70, I am going to charge one of the credit cards that I have." This immediately concerned us. We were not refusing to pay. We were actively trying to understand where the discrepancy occurred and make sure the restaurant received the full amount owed. To resolve the issue, one of my friends and I went with Martin into a back room to review the charges. After reviewing everything, my friend agreed to pay the remaining balance immediately. The payment was processed and the bill was fully paid. At that point I was trying to calm the situation and bring it to a close. Instead, Martin became even more agitated and began yelling profanities at us. He shouted, "Get the f*** out of my restaurant! It's people like you why we don't split checks! You all need to get the f*** out now!" Other people started noticing this go down. We were stunned. The bill had been paid. Nobody was attempting to leave without paying. We were simply trying to resolve a billing issue after following the waiter's instructions. As we were leaving, my wife later told me that Martin placed his HAND ON HER BACK and guided her toward the exit. While it was not forceful, it felt unnecessary and added to an already hostile and intimidating experience. What happened next is why I ultimately decided to write this review. A few days later, while walking through Provincetown looking for a place to have lunch, our group passed The Mayflower Food & Drink and noticed Martin working there. When he saw us, he deliberately tapped on the glass to get our attention. After making eye contact, he made a hand gesture across his neck and pointed for us to leave and keep walking. The original incident had already ended. The bill had been paid. Yet days later he still felt the need to single out our group and signal that we were unwelcome. Had this simply been confusion over a split check, I would not be writing this review. Billing mistakes happen. What I cannot overlook is being threatened with unauthorized credit card charges, being screamed at with profanity while attempting to resolve the issue, being ordered out after the bill had been paid, Martin touching my wife, and then encountering the same employee days later making a gesture directed at our group from another restaurant. This experience was troubling enough that I believe others should be aware of it.

Great bar and bartender Jeff was excellent. First trip, we ordered calamari and coconut shrimp apps and some cocktails at the bar. The American menu offers seafood and steakhouse options. Soups include French onion and seafood chowders. Our server, Chrissy, was very personable and super friendly. She definitely provided good information on menu for wine and dinner. We went with lobster chowder and coconut shrimp for starters and the pork chops with mashed potatoes for dinner. Chowder was loaded with seafood and flavorful. The pork chop was cooked medium to perfection with an amazing sauce. The mashed potatoes were very good. The meals were very filling so dessert was not ordered. The dessert menu offered full list for all palates including good list of digestifs. Both visits provided excellent experiences. She was incredibly rude, She went back to the kitchen and asked them to put mustard on it a long while later I received the sandwich in a hot tinfoil wrap. I'm not sure what the hell is going on at this place but she and the other person working there were incredibly rude, short and to be honest, completely obnoxious about our whole experience I ended up walking out, told them the sandwiches wrong again and they had no response.
