Absolutely exceeded expectations - we truly didn't want to leave! What we enjoyed: -Hosts Kath and Chef Wills; they've created an experience to be treasured -Tapestries, fine art, and beautiful books throughout -Hummingbirds and warblers bathing in the fountain -Peaceful wind flowing through the many trees surrounding the villa, best enjoyed from our private patio -Sweeping wine country views -Immaculate guest quarters with plush linens -Jetted tub for ultimate relaxation -Sipping coffee under the pergola while watching the quail scurry about -Morning breakfast on the patio with unique and perfectly balanced creations by Chef Wills -Evening wine hour with host Kath pouring beautifully curated wines to go with Chef's carefully prepared selection of cheeses, fruit, and handmade breads Our only regret was not staying on a Sunday night to enjoy Chef's famous "Sunday Supper." And now we have a fine reason to return again to the villa. Enjoy!

Wills and Kath keep a beautiful bed and breakfast that exceeded in all expectations. The property itself is elegant and refined with beautiful grounds. They keep a very tidy establishment, and there are rules to keep it that way. I have a no-shoe rule in my own house, so I understand completely! I enjoyed spending the evenings after wine hour looking out into the sunsetting sky with the Dale Evers statue, "Escuchame." Breathtaking. I went into town to see his studio after seeing the lovely artwork through the Canyon Villa. Personal touches touches throughout with handwritten welcome notes, dinner name cards, and introductions to other guests. The room was very clean, comfortable, and felt cozy. I loved the lavender pillow spray! Each morning started with cornettis and jam, a fruit course, and a savory. Everything tasted divine and I couldn't imagine a better breakfast. Filling, but never heavy. Wills is an exceptional chef, and he takes the time to explain each element of the wine hour small plates, and is willing to share his methods and recipes (can't wait to make his mint sauce!). If you can, definitely join the Sunday Supper. It's a great experience when they bring in winemakers for a personal tasting, and the food is better than any restaurants in the area. Hospitality was inviting, and by the end I felt like a true friend to Kath and Wills, people I would love to come visit again.

Spectacular experience. This is most definitely the place to stay for a trip to Paso. It's an Italian style villa with beautiful views and grounds. You will feel swept away and at peace. It's a place to relax. My husband and I stayed at the Canyon Villa 10 years before for part of our honeymoon. We were blessed to have a special night for our 10 year anniversary and Chef Wills & Kath made it perfect, truly. My husband was able to work with them to create a romantic time including letting him in early so he could bring peonies, which Katherine arranged for all over the room. It was beautiful to walk into. Then Chef Wills made a delicious, exquisite 5 course dinner, just for us. We did enjoy their wine hour (with cheese and amazing accoutrements) and got to talk with the other guests prior to the dinner. That alone was neat, but the dinner was just unique and perfect. Each dish was so thoughtfully created that you wanted to savor each dish. It was Italian influenced to fit the setting. Then we rested in a comfortable bed to wake up to another delicious two course breakfast by Chef Wills. Poached pear at breakfast, brilliant. You will then have another opportunity to talk with the guests and Katherine. Very special to share your time with other guests. Although if you are more introverted, I'm sure they can accommodate. It was tough to leave. So, if you're looking to enjoy Paso, I highly recommend staying here. It will be a highlight and a memory.

The good: a small, quiet inn along the outskirts of Paso Robles overlooking vineyards and fields that make for a scenic view. The not as good: the accommodations were comfortable albeit dated room; while clean and tidy, some aesthetic improvements would certainly have enhanced our experience and expectations, especially in consideration of the charged rates - generally in line with what we've pay for more exceptional quality inns of this nature. The bad: the rules,regulations and restrictions. After a hot afternoon of traveling, we arrived at the front gates at 2:38. When we called the house phone as per the instructions sent to us, we were met not with a "Welcome" but "You're early! Check-in isn't until 3". We were buzzed in nonetheless but when met at the front steps by the proprietress, Kath, she instructed my husband where to park so he could "drag" the suitcase in. Wisely, he decided to let both me and the suitcase off, thereby averting the need to drag either one of us...because at that point, I was beginning to sense some red flags. More appeared as Kath brought us in to wait the 15 minutes (of note: there was only one other couple staying there at the time) and explained the Inn was part of a ten year plan, of which she and her husband were nearing the end. Before allowing us up to our room, where shoes must be removed before entering (I was aware if this and figured it was due to rich, plush carpeting; suffice to say I was wrong), Kath spotted the small zippered Nektar bag I was carrying to which I was asked, "That's not food, is it? Food is not allowed in the room". I felt admonished while having to explain it was my prescription medication. I do have to say, she warmed up somewhat during subsequent encounters although I give credit to her better half, Will, for being much more loquacious and hospitable, as we had the opportunity to speak a bit more during wine & cheese hour, followed by breakfast the next day. It bears mentioning that the window for breakfast has narrowed considerably from what previous reviewers complained was too constrictive, as we were told it was between 8-8:30 - a half-hour, apparently cut down from an original 90 minute window, clipped further to 1 hour, at least from what I read in other reviews here. Many of which sadly indicated Kath's demeanor was not so much a result of coming to the end of her tenure as an inn keeper but perhaps due more to this being a job that isn't quite her calling.

This place is amazing. Just far enough in the country to be peaceful yet close enough to town to be there in under 10 minutes. The rooms are very beautiful and comfortable. The couple who own and run it are so fun and friendly. The breakfast was so good. We ate outside on the patio. But you can always eat inside as well. I found the villa to be warm and charming. Outside our room is a small table and chairs. And I enjoyed reading out there. We loved our stay and will be back. Don't miss the wine and cheese in the afternoon.

Chef Wills and Kath were exceptional hosts! It was a pleasant surprise to be greated by Kath personally upon our arrival. First of all, the property itself is so beautiful with manicured landscape, and perched on the hill overlooking the local vinyards. We loved the various birds scurrying around outside. Our room (Siena) was not only immaculately clean, but beautiful and relaxing with a fabulous view from our balcony. The bed was so comfortable, and cozy. Wine hour, and breakfast were our favorite. Kath shared lovely wines, and Chef Wills made us the most delicious tastes for wine hour, including various cheeses, dips, home made lavash crackers. The breakfasts were superb! We were able to enjoy mini croissants ("cornetti") with jam, a fruit parfait with granola, mint and lime zest, a fritatta with homemade Italian sausage, avocado toast, and orange slices with a maple ginger glaze. To be honest, the wine hour, and breakfast was the food we enjoyed most while in Paso. Our only regret- not adding on the dinner with Chef Wills (or staying Sunday for dinner!- We will be sure to do that next time!) We will certainly be back!

My husband and I found this beautiful gem and can't say enough amazing things about The Canyon Villas. Chef Wills and Kath were genuine hosts who truly know the meaning of hospitality. Their attention to detail made our time there very special. We spent a day cooking with Chef Wills in "kitchen stadium" and it was neat to see his creativity come alive as he shared his years of culinary knowledge with us. The food was spectacular and absolutely beautiful. A true work of art made by an artist. We also loved Sunday Supper as we were able to share a meal with Chef Wills and Kath that he prepared. We also enjoyed telling stories and just chatting with them. Chef Wills and Kath know how to do it right and we are forever grateful for the time we were able to spend at The Canyon Villas. Add it to your bucket list. You need to go. We hope to return.

Just finished a two day stay capped off with an exquisite birthday dinner prepared by the owner. The new owners, William and Katherine, are the ultimate hosts. The building, the facilities, and the views are all outstanding. Breakfast is not typical B&B fare either as evidenced by the mushroom and scallop crêpes accompanied by banana beignets we had this morning. Delicious. Katherine exudes warmth and grace. You'll leave feeling that paths will cross again. I hope so. They've only owned the place for a couple of months but you would never know it. William has a long history in the hospitality business and professionalism abounds. First class through and through. It was our first time to Paso. We loved the area and hope to go back. Honestly, I cannot imagine staying anywhere but The Canyon Villa on our return. In fact I would go to Paso just to stay there. read more

Can you have a less-than-amazing time here? I don't think so. Just four exquisitely decorated bedroom suites ensures an intimate experience. William, formerly the executive chef for the Playboy mansion, produces a cornucopia of culinary delights. For breakfast every morning, and if you're partaking of the Sunday dinner, then a full on gourmet repast in the evening hours. During our recent stay that meant grilled Angus tri-tip with a green olive tapenade, mixed seafood over pearl pasta, brown rice pilaf, butter leaf salad, grilled asparagus, winter squash, brussel sprouts, and for dessert flourless chocolate cake and blueberry cobbler ice cream. Can you say ... yum? I'm going to upload a pic (please forgive the plating - I was just gettin' the food onto the plate in a hurry because it looked so good so not much in the way of artistic presentation). The furnishings of the bedroom are fabulous, as is the rest of the house. Just a wonderful place to sit in front of the fireplace and read or draw or snooze. Perfect home base for wine exploration as well. William and Katherine are consummate hosts. They immediately make you feel welcome and part of their home. Nydia, the housekeeper, is warm and friendly. Whatever troubles might be swirling in the outside world, once here you're in a bubble of calm and repose. My family and I filled the inn and both my (grown) boys were blown away with the experience. As Anton Ego said in Ratatouille, "We shall be returning soon, hungry for more." read more

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Villa in December. It's breath takingly beautiful, the owners are nothing short of amazing, and the food was beyond fabulous!! Kath and Wills were so welcoming and delightful to chat with. We fell in love with the luxury experience and can't wait to go back! I loved the furniture in our room so much, I went home and painted mine the same color. The very few rules are all just a simple matter of RESPECT. No shoes on the carpet, Not an issue at all. I have the same rule in my home and I respect the simple request. Yes, breakfast is served at a specific time, they aren't running a buffet or fast food drive thru. If that time hadn't worked for us we would have simply opted out. We loved the option to purchase some of the wonderful treats that Wills prepared for us. If there was an option to give the owners and the Villa 10 stars, I would without blinking an eye!! read more

Wills and Kath are the most gracious hosts and thought of everything for us. They love what they do and it shows. Canyon Villa is a treasure. This is a beautiful property property and the gracious owners saw to our every need. Our room was spacious and romantic, with a fireplace, tub for two and a patio. Quiet elegance. Chef Will and Kath offered wine and cheese tasting in the afternoon and a gourmet breakfast in the courtyard. Canyon Villa is truly deserving of a Michelin star! read more

If you're looking to stay somewhere with lovely decor and breakfast served to you, this may be the place. If you're looking to relax and go with your own schedule, I'd think twice. The rules placed upon the B&B guests (i.e. can't wear shoes in the room, no eating or drinking whatsoever in the room, needing to be at breakfast by 9 am, etc.) made the trip feel more like work than vacation. The passive aggressive, and occasionally aggressive aggressive, behavior of the villa's owner made us feel as though she was inconvenienced by us from the start. For instance, even though it was a guest's birthday, they would not allow us to eat our cake on the day as it interrupted their dinner and suggested we do it another day (not the actual birthday). We were chastised because we placed the duvet on the floor because we are incredibly allergic to down feathers and were interrupted and told to "please respect my hotel" when we tried to explain. These are just two examples of the awkward situations we faced. Again, it's absolutely beautiful. So weigh the pros and cons for your own stay. read more

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and we could not say enough good things about this place. It was our first experience at a B&B and I just know that they have set our standards high. From the moment we pulled up the driveway, we were in awe. The grounds are amazing, the house is gorgeous with so much detail and class. Jim and Diane...they make it. As well as Kyna! We did one of the rooms on the 2nd floor overlooking the canyon and it was perfect. The bed was perfect - the linens, the comfort factor, everything. Even the bathroom - so gorgeous. And the Olive lotion in the bathroom...my favorite. The food...the food. Huevos Rancheros were perfect. Pumpkin pancakes...left me speechless. And her quiche...I have fond memories. Diane is an amazing chef and puts a lot of care into her meals. Both Jim and Diane offered great suggestions on wineries based on our tastes. Also gave us great suggestions on places to eat. I cannot wait to go back here. Thanks again!! read more

We just finished a 3 day trip in Paso Robles and had the good fortune to stumble across the "Villa" on my Google search for a B & B. We will add to the 5 star ratings already here and agree with all the wonderful comments mentioned. I can also add.... " try and get the artichoke, sausage and leeks quiche for breakfast!" We just spent 3 nights at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. The hospitality and accommodations were both extraordinary. Chef, your breakfasts were truly wonderful in both presentation and content. The afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres were a great treat. We will remember the dinner (the wonderful Osso Buco) for a very long time. We particularly enjoyed the many subtle flavors of your dishes and the attention to detail in their presentation. Canyon Villa is perfect for a romantic getaway! We celebrated our honeymoon here and the owners Katherine and William could not be more gracious hosts. We started with massages outside under the pergola with a beautiful fountain in the background. The wine hour was spectacular and the fresh made spreads really hit the spot. Breakfast was full service and absolutely delicious, especially the slow cooked pork shank! The location is great too! It is just far enough into the country side to feel very private, but close to the wineries and downtown. We were able to use Uber for all of our rides and did not have to drive once! The condition the room is wonderful! Everything felt very fresh and clean! Not to mention the bed is dreamy and the tub is huge! Overall our experience was amazing especially considering for the reasonable pricing for the area. We're so looking forward to our next visit! read more

My husband and I came up here for Thanksgiving and had an unbelievable time! Wills and Katherine are the most gracious hosts and such a delight to be around. The B & B itself is gorgeous, from the beautifully decorated interior, to the vast views of the hillsides & neighboring wineries outside. Room - Cozy, decor was lovely, had it's own patio with amazing views. Bed - Could have stayed in it all day it was so comfortable! Bathroom - Very lovely with complimentary bottled water, toiletries and an awesome Jacuzzi tub for two! Food - AMAZING. Chef Wills is incredibly talented and everything we ate, from the wine & cheese hour, to Thanksgiving dinner, to breakfast was as memorable as it was delicious. We felt like we were staying with family while we were there and will definitely come back! An absolute must if you are traveling to Paso and looking for a B & B to stay at. Highly recommend for couples looking for a getaway in wine country. read more

The Canyon Villa is under new management. Chef William Carter and his charming wife, Katherine have raised the bar on this lovely Tuscan Bed and Breakfast in Paso Robles. Their background in hospitality and art have brought new and exciting life into the gorgeous setting. No detail has been overlooked in the stunning guest rooms and public rooms.The wine reception was spectacular. Chef William fired up the pizza oven and made delicious pizzas and served outstanding local wines for the guests. Breakfast was a gourmet feast! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again and again to this very special upscale villa in the heart of wine country. read more

The GF and I visited here for 3 nights this past fall. Amazing. The location is simply unbelievable. It is peaceful, quiet, and beautiful at the property, with views of Paso's (remarkably Tuscany-like) rolling hills/vineyards. But unlike lots of B&Bs around, this is a short 5 minute drive from downtown's restaurants, bars, and tasting rooms. Dianne and Jim are amazing hosts. Dianne's breakfast is world-class, and she is so attentive to her guests. We had never been to Paso before, and we were tasting at a winery before checking in when she gave us a call. There was a big auto show in town, and the restaurants were all booking up quickly for the weekend, and Dianne wanted to make sure that we were able to eat at some of the better restaurants in town during our stay. She asked if we'd like her to try to make arrangements, and we said yes please! She got us reservations for all three nights at some of the best restaurants in town (artisan, villa creek, and another delicious italian place). We really lucked out on our first try... when we come back to the area, we won't consider staying anywhere else. read more

On the recommendation of some friends who had stayed here, my girlfriend and I stayed at the Canyon Villa for a few days about one year ago, and we absolutely loved it. The breakfasts were some of the best I've ever had, and I've sampled some good ones! We also really enjoyed the afternoon appetizers and wine tastings. The facilities were very comfortable, the surroundings were beautiful, and the location was convenient for visiting a variety of wineries around Paso Robles. I hope we have a chance to return someday soon! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 4 year anniversary this past weekend, and we could not have been happier with our choice! William and Katherine were so welcoming right from the start. They made us feel very at home in their home. The Villa itself was gorgeous, and our room was luxurious yet cozy. The food they made for us was incredible. I myself am a vegetarian, and William catered to my dietary restrictions. They also gave us great recommendations for restaurants to visit, and we loved every single one. We truly enjoyed our stay at The Canyon Villa and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay there! read more

My wife and I have gone to Canyon Villa once a year for the past 5 years, and we continue to be impressed such that I finally feel compelled to write my first Yelp review. Unlike many bed and breakfasts we have been to, Diane and Jim (the proprietors of Canyon Villa) have found the perfect balance between making sure their guests have "their space" and privacy while still being attentive and ensuring that their guests' needs are taken care of. The rooms are warm and comfortable and the atmosphere is extremely relaxing. Wine and appetizers are provided every evening, allowing you to enjoy some local wine, meet your fellow guests, and/or enjoy the hospitality of Diane and Jim. Diane and Jim are very well connected with the local wine industry and, if you describe your tastes and palate, they can make excellent recommendations regarding where you should visit (and are more than happy to set up appointments at some "by appointment only" places). Similarly, they can recommend (and set up reservations) at some of the *must visit* restaurants in the area (Villa Creek, Ile Cortile, Bistro Laurent, etc. It definitely helps that their location is so centrally located while still being set apart from the City that you could easily find yourself thinking that you were in the rural Italian countryside. The "breakfast" aspect of Canyon Villa is also worth noting. Diane's breakfasts are amazing. Dreaming about her pumpkin pancakes is a not-infrequent occurrence for me! Paso Robles has one of the most amazing wine industries---tremendous wine with no pretentiousness. Staying at Canyon Villa will allow you to maximize the enjoyment of your Paso visit. I cannot recommend it enough! read more

This is our 2nd time visiting the Inn. It remains the most memorable place ever. This time we brought another couple who agreed and are anxious to return and booked another couple before they left the Inn. You feel as if you are in Tuscany, yet have easy access to the town where there are several restaurants and shops. The Inn owners, Katherine and William, were beyond helpful in setting up our event and identifying a photographer, singer/guitarist and vow renewal officiant. Because of them, everything was, in a word, perfect and the ceremony was beyond romantic. Then we had a 6 course dinner served by William who carefully selected the menu based on our preferences. The evening was magical and memorable. This is a not to be missed place where you instantly feel at home and relaxed. read more

The Canyon Villa exceeded our expectations in every way. We had done our due diligence and researched every B&B and hotel in the Paso Robles area and settled on the Canyon Villa. This 4 room B&B is your best bet for the value, absolutely beautiful rooms, grounds and home - plus completely secluded and quiet yet only a short 5 minute drive to downtown Paso Robles. We were warmly greeted by innkeepers Diane and Jim, who prepared an organic, gourmet breakfast for us every morning. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and comfortable, recommending out of the way and more obscure wineries to visit which we absolutely loved. Ecluse Wines is right across the street and Terry Hogue is down the road, every morning after breakfast we'd take a walk and pinch ourselves at the beautiful surroundings. Prices are way more reasonable than Cheval in downtown Paso and for a bit more than some of the crummy hotels in town you'll get an experience you won't soon forget. read more

We just spent an amazing stay with friends at the Canyon Villa as we were all celebrating birthdays at this stunning property. The grounds were beautifully manicured, the villa was stunning and ultra clean and it is centrally located close to town but tucked away in the beautiful hills and vineyards of Paso Robles wine country. We were so impressed by the owners Wills and Catherine as their hospitality is unmatched and they welcomed us with open arms and by the time we left we felt not only ultra satisfied but felt we had just found new friends. Do not miss this opportunity to enjoy a weekend at the Canyon Villa.....great friends, amazing property and truly the gem of Paso Robles.....cheers to the ultimate in classy service!!!! Holy cow, folks. Forget Tuscany, just come to this place. The setting / views are wonderful, and this purpose--built B&B with a separate residence for the owners is top-notch. Me and my girlfriend recently spent three days here and were delighted with the experience. It was our first time at a B&B so we were a little apprehensive, but the warm, friendly reception put us right at ease. The proprietors are wonderful and as accommodating as can be. The property is beautiful and so are the views. I'm not really a "breakfast person", but if you're intending to go wine tasting it's certainly an important start to the day! The breakfasts we were served here were prepared by an expert chef with decades of experience and unbelievably good! After breakfast the chef/owner was happy to sit down with us and go over a map with us and make recommendations of local wineries, restaurants etc. which was very helpful granted it was our first visit to the area. As a promotion (for staying a third day) we were offered some options of which we chose a nice champagne and dessert served in a beautiful outdoor dining area. It was amazing. Flourless chocolate cake accompanied by, among other things, the best homemade ice cream I have ever tasted. The accommodations were made by my girlfriend as a present to me and I was genuinely shocked when she told me how affordable it was! The experience was easily worth double what we paid in my opinion. The location is great too. It's on the west side near many wineries and just a couple minutes from downtown for dinner. Whether you're a first time visitor or a veteran of this area, do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You won't regret it. read more

The Canyon Villa is simply amazing. If you're looking for a decadent yet unpretentious experience, then this is it. The Villa is gorgeous and the room was very nicely appointed. I loved the soft linens and the pillows. This place has some of the best views in Paso Robles. So good that we set out on the balcony and watched the sunset one evening while sipping on some wine. It's also fairly quiet and remote, which is a pleasant change from the bay area. The breakfast is home-made and was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. We also decided to explore the wineries around the Villa by foot and made a day out of it. We had a great time! The pours are very generous in Paso and the walks gave us time to sober up a little bit. :-) Our favorite winery was Fratelli Perata. The hosts catered to our every need and made some outstanding suggestions about restaurants and wineries. Absolutely perfect for a romantic get-away. read more

My wife and I just spent three days at The Canyon Villa with the innkeepers and hosts extraodinaire, Katherine and William. Our stay was perfect, from the three course morning breakfast to the small plates wine hour at 5 PM, which includes bottles of wine. Our room over looked the hillside vinyards and was spacious and decorated with great care and detail to attention. We had made several reservations at wineries and restaurants, however, the list provided by Katherine and William included some of our choices. We spoke with them every day after our tours and they were very open to modifying and improving their best ot the best list they had prepared. As I sit here in Doylestown, PA, and reflect on the time spent at The Canyon Villa I start to smie. As I said to our hosts upon our departure; if I woud forget that I gave you a credit card for our three days it feels like we spent three days with good friends. A visit to Paso Robles with the stay at the Canyon Villa was a birthday gift to me from my husband and I could not enjoy myself more! This b&b is situated on a hilltop with amazing views of the valley and the rolling hills. We were greeted by Katherine, the innkeeper and shown to our room which was immaculate, cozy and bright. After a brief rest we were invited to a happy hour in the dining room, where we were treated for wine and small appetizers, beautifully crafted by William. We watched sunset enjoying our happy hour and then the dinner was served . It was prepared by William, the chef and innkeeper and it was an amazing multi course tasting menu, which William and I discussed in advance and which took into consideration our preferences and any possible food sensitivities. The presentation was gorgeous and it was real slow eating, which. Next morning the breakfast was very special and was followed by the owners giving us the tour of the property. Check their website out, they do great events, culinary classes, and we definitely are coming back for more of these. There is only 4 guest rooms, so you feel like it is truly your home and the owners hospitality helpers it a whole lot! read more

This was our first trip to Paso Robles and we wanted to make it a memorable experience. Along with our friends we decided to find a B&B to add the finishing touch to what we hoped to be a great weekend of music and wine. As we drove up to the top of Kiler Canyon and first approached the Canyon Villa we were excited by the beauty of the surrounding area and the felt excitement when we first set eyes on the villa. Once inside we were met by Katherine and Chef (Wills). Immediately we felt a warmth and a welcoming into their home. Over the next 2 days we developed a bond with them and a genuine feeling that these are people that you want to be friends with. With the first cup of coffee at 7 am to the wine and app tasting at 5:30 they were there to cater to our every whim. The villa was beautiful, the attention to detail in every room was elegant. My biggest decision with my morning coffee was which view, the canyon or the beautiful courtyard complete with hummingbirds. Chef's breakfasts were unique and scrumptious. All the awards and accolades they have been receiving are well deserved. Our only regret was we did not experience Chef's 5 course gourmet dinner. But it will give us something to look forward to next time! read more

Had the pleasure of staying here for the first time over the weekend. We will never stay anywhere else when in Paso. The house was gorgeous. The whole experience was perfect. Every detail was though of. The bedrooms were so comfortable, we didnt want to get out of bed! The hospitality was incredible. The breakfast!!!!! I can't say enough about what a great cook she is - pumpkin pancakes one morning. yumm. We loved the location. It was only a short 5 minute, lovely drive to downtown making it perfect for going to wineries during the day then stopping home before dinner to get ready. Apps and wine were also provided daily. We are both in our early 30's and highly reccomend it. It is not stuffy and boring - quite the opposite. Such a romantic weekend. Thank you so much! read more

Well I read the reviews and am always suspect but they were written so well I just had to go there with my wife to see what every one was gushing about.....Well let me tell you that after the phone interview to see what they offered, what a turn off if you like arrogant, pretentious boobs then this place is for you. We found better accommodations and superb hospitality at a local down town bed n breakfast just walking distance from all the nice offering that we found on yelp. Thomas Hill and Artisian are winners. Fabulous will be back to Paso. read more

B&B. Can't say enough about this property and its owners/proprietors. Located on a hilltop overlooking vineyards, the property is classy yet comfortable. Owner is a well-respected chef and we arranged for him to prepare a dinner for our party of eight: wonderful! While located out in the country it is close to town. Clean and well maintained. Neither my husband nor I had ever stayed at a B & B before going to The Canyon Villa, and it was better than we could have imagined. The only problem now is that our expectations are set so high, that we may never be as pleased with another one! That is one of the many reasons we will definitely return to The Canyon Villa the next time we are in Paso, only we will stay longer. It was the perfect blend of staying at a luxurious hotel with every amenity you can imagine and a lovely private home with it's homey comforts. We couldn't have asked for more...an amazingly beautiful villa on a quiet and serene hilltop surrounding vineyards, the sweetest and most lovely hosts (Katherine and William), cozy and luxurious rooms with lovely views, gourmet wine and cheese hour in the evening and homemade breakfast in the morning (by William who is a professional chef). The location is also perfect. It's just far enough out of the downtown area that you feel secluded, but close enough that you can drive a short distance to a handful of really great restaurants for dinner. read more

The new owners of the Canyon Villa have a "POLICY" you should know about. It's in the fine print and I've never experienced it before. We booked a room about 2 weeks prior to arrival. The next day our friends couldn't make their fly in date due to Airport weather closures - so we inquired if they could accommodate a date change for our reservation. The owners said NO, so we cancelled our reservation of 2 nights and went to another Paso Robles hotel that had plenty of availability. This was the weekend of the torrential rain storm in Paso - Valentine's weekend. The Canyon Villa did not refund ANY of our $750.00 and they used their policy to say if anyone else booked the room they would refund our $750. How would we know if they indeed booked the room and NEVER refunded us? Their small business is not operating in good faith and this policy is punitive and unusual in my travel experience. Hotel stays change and I've never experienced such an abusive policy and that is a lot of money. I have stayed there before, under the prior owners and had a lovely time. The new owners could have sent a credit voucher for a future stay - that would have been an example of a sound business practice. Why book there at all? If there is any emergency, you are stuck paying their bill. There are plenty of other very nice hotels in Paso. Bad karma for the Canyon Villa. read more

The villa is impeccable and we had not a single complaint about our entire weekend. Lisa was especially sweet with our daughter--she spent time showing her around the farm, baking together in the kitchen, and exploring the beautiful herb garden. It meant so much to us to see that connection. The entire property is peaceful and stunning, with gentle rolling hills, goats, chickens, and cows (though we didn't spot the cows this time!). We also had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast most days with their wonderful chef, Dominique, who made such delicious food--everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It was the perfect way to start each day. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations--from the thoughtful details throughout the property, to the calm, rejuvenating atmosphere. The rooms themselves are also beautiful and the bedding looks nice. Though I will say for me personally the pillows were really uncomfortable, and they had a rough spun duvet which smelled musty on the inside like it hadn't been washed in quite awhile. It looked and smelled like they were washing the sheets and the blanket but not the duvet itself. They also offer breakfast in the morning, but it's a little bit later than some other places so if you have to get an early start, then you probably won't be able to catch it. Overall I really enjoyed the stay and would say this experience is really good for the boutique traveler that is looking for a peaceful, unhurried trip.

It's walking distance to the main part of downtown and there is a pizza and a Mexican restaurant across the street. My only real gripe is how hard they're pushing guests to buy their snacks and wine-- the room has not one but two pieces of furniture loaded with premixed cocktails, a bottle of wine, snacks, and bottled mineral water. They don't allow "outside food" in common areas, whose definition was never clear to me- does it include the patios in front of the rooms? So I felt like a criminal bringing in takeout for dinner, but there is no food onnthe premises other than various kinds of overpriced chips and cookies. They don't let you bring outside wine in common areas, either, which might have something to do with licensing or might just be trying to make you buy their wine. So we waited until it was dark and no one was around to enjoy our outside wine on the patio. But we didn't get in trouble so maybe it was ok. They're also really promoting their bath products, for sale in their little gift shop, along with membership in their hotel chain for "rewards." The website says pet friendly and indeed, dogs are allowed in all rooms-- $50 each is a little steep for pet charge though. The website says there's something for pets in the room but there was none in our room, even though we booked in advance. I don't really care that much but if they say it, they should do it. There were also some rich women guests who looked at me like I was a homeless person or space alien, but other guests I met in the breakfast room were normal and friendly. But basically, it's a hotel oriented toward well-off "classy" wine tourists, and if you're not one of those, you might feel a little awkward here. (I did.) But it's a lovely, comfortable little room with charming grounds, probably nice for a romantic getaway without your dogs.

Some have Romeo and Juliet balconies the rest have sitting balconies all overlooking the vineyard. The property is located in the rolling hills not far from the main road but tucked away enough to feel away from it all. The price point for the rooms is below the value received. There is not a restaurant on site, but they do provide a daily delicious breakfast in an indoor lovely setting that was included. They offer an extensive Sunday brunch for $39.00. Parking is sufficient for the number of suites and an EV charger is located in 2 stalls. The staff is accommodating. Allegretto vineyard and winery is just down the way with a lovely upscale restaurant if you don't want to go downtown which is 11 minutes away with a plethora of choices for dining and shopping. Can't wait to return to this gem. I did have a problem with booking through a third party service, so I would suggest booking directly to ensure your room is available.

When we checked in and got to our room, the property felt completely empty. We were the only guests we could see, which made the whole place feel eerie and uncomfortable. We walked around the entire property and saw no one. There were only three cars in the parking lot, including ours and the front desk employee's car, yet we were told they were "fully booked" when we asked about moving to a larger room. The room itself was not great. The bed is extremely hard and squeaks with every movement. On top of that, the AC does not work. We told the front desk before leaving for dinner about the AC and were told someone would come fix it. When we returned, the room was even hotter than before & it felt like walking into a sauna. The windows don't open, so the only way to get air in is by opening the doors, which obviously lets bugs in. The "free wine tasting" was also frustrating. At check-in, we were told that we would get complimentary tastings at the tasting room. When we went to the tasting room, we were told they were "too busy" for tastings and that we would need to buy glasses of wine instead. We didn't want to make a scene, so we ended up purchasing a bottle and a glass, which came out to $85 & we never received the tastings we were told were included with our stay. Overall, this has been a terrible experience. Between the uncomfortable room, broken AC, lack of guests/staff on the property, and being denied the complimentary tasting we were promised, I would not recommend staying here. Do not let the 4.6 rating fool you.

There are statues everywhere there a vineyard in the back. You can walk around with a scotch garden at the top and architecture resembles Tuscany. On Friday they had some complementary wine tasting just a couple of wines and serenades in the lobby. Everything was spotless kept very clean with amazing attentive service. This place is located in Paso Robles close to many wineries for great wine tasting. The Priority Pass gives you 2 for 1 tastings at eight wineries in the area. There is a $52 resort fee. The swimming pool has a pool bar and a Jacuzzi they have an outdoor chess set and also a table tennis table, although it is hard to play outside in the wind. This is a luxury resort and I would definitely want to stay here again.

I believe what is missing here is that The Allegretto needs to be more conscious of " hotel management " techniques. For example , the rooms are dated and somber. On both of our trips the beds were extremely uncomfortable and the pillows were " saggy ".The rooms need to be updated in color schemes and vibe. There are only 2 elevators for this massive sprawling resort... too much walking! We had to go to the front desk three times because there were no valet people out in front. Because of these experiences I am not sure we will be back .
