So there are very few 5 star places in my opinion. Every time I have come here I have been completely satisfied. My favorite is the meatloaf with vegetables. Minus the mushroom gravy. It really doesn't need it. They have a great selection of draft beers and cocktails. But the crown really is the sticky toffee pudding! Whatever you do save room for it. Or heck start with the it! Our servers have always been great and we were never left needing anything. The interior is intimate with red velvet booths, high backs for somewhat of a private setting. Definitely a hidden gem on the east side.

Nice local English Pub style bar restaurant. Service the day I went was slow, but the place was busy with locals. Drinks are fairly priced and food runs from $9 to $30 depending on selection. Outside seating area is covered.

Fried fish sandwich fresh. Best fries ever!

Today I had chicken curry with rice. It was so good and lots of it. When our excellent server brought it I thought I'd take home half. It was so good that I just kept eating and cleaned the plate! A bit spicy in a good way. Too busy eating to take a picture but it was very pretty with lots of fresh veggies in curry sauce

Warm, attentive service at this cozy, warm neighborhood pub full of friendly regulars. The scotch eggs were the best I've ever had with a delicate crispy coating and perfectly cooked eggs. Served with an English mustard with just the right spicy bite!

We came here on a busy Saturday and we had great service and great food. I tried the burger with GF ABUN and also the sweet potatoes. The restaurant was decorated for st pattys day so cute. Our server was on top of everything and we didn't wait long for our food. 10/10 would recommend coming here again to try their amazing food. Vibes also 10/10

First off, I missed the Corned Beef and Cabbage because I was in a 4-Day Fast - so sad... I had the wedge salad, no tomato and the Chicken & Mushroom sauce and both were delicious and hardly any impact on my blood sugar! Staff was super friendly as always and every thing was clean as usual as well. This is a great place for a decent price, always glad to visit.

Great restaurant. Lots of classics on the menu. Servers were fast and attentive. Old town pub feel.

This is a really cute place, great Irish feel, super staff. The food was okay. I had fish and chips (fish very good) - higher portion of fish and chips , very little coleslaw. My husband tried the chicken pot pie. Unappealing in both look and taste. This would be a great place to celebrate St. Pattys day. Food is just ok.

We gave this restaurant another visit. I was more impressed last time, but still good. Our server was great. Some of the food was excellent, some just so-so. It's fun to visit an English pub type restaurant in Tucson.

Guinness pie with mashed potatoes and veggies! So good! The flaky crust and the very stout gravy won me over!

This place has always been amazing. Great food, service and ambiance. They recently renovated and they not only kept that pub charm but elevated it! Their fish and chips are the best in town and my hubs is addicted to their Rueben. Craving French onion soup or sticky toffee pudding? Look no further! Everything we've tried has been stellar and we will keep coming back again and again!

    Do they take Reservations?

We take reservations for larger groups (7 and above) as we have less spots available for those larger groups. Generally we are able to accommodate smaller parties immediately or with a brief wait time.

I had my blood orange wheat and he had a milk stout. We sat on a comfy couch next to a large Bouganvilla shrub with nesting birds. Those birds kept buzzing over us. I enjoyed watching them. The inside is nicely decorated with solid wood tables and an extensive whiskey bar. The beer and wine list is also impressive. Service and ambiance were both very good, but the only thing I wish the place offered were misters for outside seating. We were the only ones outside and we are an older couple, so it wasn't economical to have any misters running.

That whole St. Philip's area always has a great energy, and UPH is a big part of that. There's usually a crowd, live music or sports on, and it feels like one of those places where you can bring friends from out of town and know it'll be a fun time. Food is consistently solid. The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting. Let's keep the women, and security man restroom clean! The awesome surly patriots at the wench bar made sure to take it to the street and communicate a policy of forgiveness and brutal clarity in making sure certain members of our community cannot go bathroom real quick without a valid state ID or proper members. No one should be allowed to draw on the stall after they are standing outside, I don't care what is wrong with you! God bless these surly patriots for how they protect their American bart patrons. Would recommend the liquor! They have the main ones except Jose Cuervo. Too much graffiti in the bathroom so 4.5 stars. #AlternativeBarAgainstPC

It feels like there is ALWAYS something going on here. On my first visit, my girlfriend took me on a date here to catch a burlesque show. It was absolutely packed and everyone had a great time! And every Friday and Saturday night, there is some reiteration of a goth dance night ($5 cover). I also appreciate the slightly older crowd full of my fellow thirtysomethings, and the upstairs patio cannot be missed when the weather is nice. The cocktail menu isn't anything especially fancy, but there's still something for everyone to enjoy. My favorite is always the Prickly Heat--think a prickly pear margarita that's absolutely loaded with fresh jalapenos. It's not for the weak! There's also food, and while it's not mind-blowing or anything you'll appreciate that you can have a nice snack at midnight on a weekend. Surly Wench is a local cultural institution, and we're lucky to have it.

It's even better when you get it straight from the source. What I love: An expanded selection of small-batch beers you won't find anywhere else. There were like 3 IPAs I'd never heard of before. They even had a lager made with pickles! (not my thing, but it has fans). You can also tell right away this spot is great for large groups, and the patio is like 50 feet long--probably amazing in better weather What I like: You can't go wrong with the food, either. I'm a big fan of the southwestern egg rolls (a better rendition of them than a certain chain restaurant). The sandwiches are decent. Nothing really sticks out as a signature item, and nothing is made with a particular beer pairing in mind, but I'll forgive them--it's solid food. When it cools down a bit, I'll certainly return here to try more lesser-known beers and a snack. The location is a little out of the way, but you won't regret going a couple miles outside of downtown for this.
