Celebrated Mother's Day here and had such a great experience. I wish I remembered my waiter's name because he was absolutely amazing. He made my day feel extra special, was very attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make sure I enjoyed my meal. I accidentally spilled my drink, and he quickly came back with another one without making me feel bad about it at all. The ambience was also really nice; I loved music playing in the background. It gave the whole experience a classy, old-school steakhouse feel. I started with the pan-fried calamari with hot cherry peppers. Personally, I could have done without so many peppers, but the calamari itself was cooked perfectly crispy, flavorful, and not chewy at all. For my entrée, I had the dry-aged New York strip cooked medium, with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak was delicious, the sauce/glaze over it was rich and flavorful, the asparagus was nicely grilled, and the mashed potatoes were impeccable. It is definitely a high-end spot, so the price is up there, but for the service, food, and overall Mother's Day experience, it was very much worth it. read more

Let's be honest here, it's a poor man's Steak 44. Went there 3 weeks ago on a mon night, not busy, great service, and back tonight. Our server was also working another room, so our service was a little under par. The black tie maths weren't as good as 3 weeks ago and the steak really tastes bland compared to Strak 44. The tops on the shelving by the booths look like they haven't been dusted in months, and the lamps either. Big pet peeve is dusting. Manager must be lazy because they don't dust nor do they keep bathrooms clean. Flourless chocolate cake tasted like something from Shanrock or Cisco, There's a reason it's a lot easier to get into than steak 44. I'll make a better effort and go back to Steak 44, which is the gold standard. read more

The capital Grille has one of the best happy hours ever! Where else can you get a dry aged sliced New York strip steak for $17 with the chimichurri sauce!? Also eight dollars for a glass of wine is phenomenal! I didn't have the steak this time, but I did the shrimp and a garlic sauce and that was delicious as well as casino oysters, filet mignon sliders and French onion soup. All of them were delicious. My wife and I dropped in to Capital for drinks and apps. I was disappointed to watch the bartenders mix the Old Fashioneds in the serving glass. Proper bartending demands the drink to be mixed and stirred in ice in a mixing vessel. Then and only then, it is poured in the customer's glass over a cube or cubes. I am seeing this shortcut in more and more places but I seem to be the only one who cares. Anyway..... The food was really good. We had the lamb lolipops and the NY Strip apps. Both were very tasty. We finished with a crab and lobster cake and it was tender and flavorful. The service was friendly and the food came out a bit slow but it was hot when it arrived. Luckily The Capital Grille has not only the best salads but amazing steaks, soups, sandwiches, and appetizers. With ~74 locations across the US, Mexico, DC., and Costa Rica, chances are there is a Capital Grille near you. Having been to many of them in the US, hands down this is my favorite location! Service is phenomenal and servers are dressed in jackets, old style Hollywood. The decor with dark wood ambiance among booths and tables makes for a terrific setting. Shout out to Brendan and Joseph as their service here is impeccable! An open kitchen allows one to peek and see the tremendous efforts everyone is making to ensure your visit is pleasant and on cue. With daily specials, promotional specialties there is always great tasting food at a reasonable cost. Overall a super deal! The walls are rich dark wood. There is no music. The muffled sound of conversation fills the silence. The seats are comfortable, and the lighting is filtered and adequate. There are large pictures of well-known people on the wall. The portraits have no names, but if you are savvy, you will know what they are. The à la carte lunch menu is very traditional. It features meat sandwiches and chicken, and of course, salads. The wait staff handled our large group of about twenty well. There was little wait time serving our party. The lunch Ribeye Sandwich, ordered medium, was barely pink. The roll had a soft crust. The meat had a large piece of fat on it. French Fries with Garlic and Truffles accompanied it--the hell with the steak, which was delicious albeit a little overcooked for medium. The taste and smell of the Truffle French Fries were intoxicating. Soft inside and medium brown on the outside, I'd trade my sandwich for another serving of Truffle Fries that smelled as if they were cooked in garlic butter. Sampling the desserts, this biased reviewer found the chocolate pie to be the best. It was bittersweet and light at the same time; it was rich. The Coconut Cream Pie was light and rich, infused with coconut flavor, but no shreds. If I were to tell you what to do, I'd go with the chocolate. It covered all the dimensions in taste and texture. This is a great, rich place with a great atmosphere. The service deserves its own five stars, as does the kitchen, which prepared it expeditiously. There was no surcharge for a large group. This place has been on my radar for quite some time. My work anniversary lunch was coming up and I knew I wanted to treat myself to a nice steak since I wasn't paying for it (DUH!) My manager booked us a reservation for around 12 PM on a Wednesday and we were seated promptly. I'm not a fine dining frequenter whatsoever, so walking into this place felt kind of surreal to me. Every staff member was at the top of their game and even the air felt fancy. My manager and I were seated at a booth and instantly the bread and butter was set in front of us. The bread rolls were quite good. I do wish the bread was a little warmer, since it was quite cold in the restaurant and I only had a light summery dress on. Our waiter came over to us quickly after that. He asked us if we'd dined there before (my manager has but I hadn't). He then began talking about the quality the restaurant upholds and how they prepare their meat/fish. Everything sounded exquisite to me! Since it was only lunch and a work lunch on top of that, I ordered a Diet Coke and water to start while my manager ordered an iced tea. No cocktails this time. Drinks came out quickly and then it was on to appetizers. I hadn't looked that far at the menu but my manager ordered the lobster bisque. When it came to the table, it was in a teeny tiny bowl and the waiter asked if my manager would like this wine/liquid poured into it. After a couple drops were poured into it and the waiter left, my manager said to me, "I didn't know what he said so I just said 'yes' and I can't even taste what he did pour it in." Now on to the main part of the meal. I knew I wanted to get the 8 oz filet mignon since I'd never had that before and it was the most expensive thing of meat on the lunch menu. I ordered it medium rare (cause go big or go home) with my side being the creamed spinach. My manager ordered the chef's special for that time period which was a surf and turf caesar salad. The food came out in an impressive time and it was kind of comical how massive my plate was for how much space the steak and bowl of creamed spinach took up. However, I quickly stopped laughing once I took my first bite. Can I just say... I didn't know meat could taste that good. I have only had steak maybe a handful of times throughout my life, so anything could impress me, but the way it truly did cut like butter and the flavor of it.... Truly mind-blowing. Medium rare definitely was the way to go with this cut of meat. I almost wish I was alone or with other company while eating it because I was wish my manager and we were still technically at work so I felt I couldn't express my full appreciation over it lol. But I'm still dreaming about it days later. The creamed spinach was also another highlight. It was like a less thick, hot version of spinach artichoke dip (minus the artichoke lol) and that's my favorite dip! Everything was so buttery and delicious! My manager also really liked his salad. He especially liked the style of croutons. Another thing I loved was the abundant Diet Coke refills! I had taken my last sip of the first glass and not even a minute later, I had a fresh glass! This repeated throughout the meal, which was highly appreciated. We didn't get dessert. I was quite full and decided to get my spinach and a couple bites left of my steak bagged for me. They bag it themselves and even had a nice paper bag to carry the take out containers in (which I'll be reusing for my Trader Joe's runs, thank you very much). Perfect establishment for your business luncheon. Capital Grille figured out it's beneficial to be open for lunch. So many higher caliber steakhouses are open only for dinner. After extensive research, I selected this Biltmore location to take my team for our celebratory holiday luncheon on Dec 4th. It came down to location, menu offerings fit my budget and group's palates, service and ambiance that allows for conversation. Parking was easy too. No more paid parking either. This was everyone's first time at Capital Grille, including me. Reservations: Easy thru the link on their website. Email and text sent promptly after making reservations, followed by 48 hour reminder text. 11am arrival: Hostess promptly greeted me. They fulfilled my reservation request of a curved booth large enough for our party of 5. Service: Thomas was our server. He was attentive, friendly, clean, pressed jacket with name tag, engaged with us in our conversation, but wasn't intrusive or eaves dropping. He said it was supposed to be his day off, but decided to come in to help out. Smart! By the time we left around 1245pm, the place was packed. Refreshing to have good service! Food/Beverages: CG offers a nice two course luncheon special. The steak frites was perfectly cooked and tasty. Others ordered the chicken and risotto, salmon and steak sandwich. We did start off with the calamari which was cooked perfectly with peppers. Not chewy. Bread basket of warm rolls and flat crisps. Our waters, ice tea and lemonades were always topped off. Never had to ask for refills. Never had to ask for fresh ground pepper either. Thomas was attentive from start to finish. Ambiance: I specifically selected CG because it was classic steakhouse that allowed conversation without yelling. Who wants to say "pardon?" all the time just to have a conversation? Also clean surroundings. Only thing that was annoying are the tables have a little lamp, but it was unlit or not turned on. Conclusion: No desserts as we needed to get on our way. Bill was promptly brought and processed. Bill was easy to read. We were not rushed to leave though. I will visit CG for dinner off the clock based on today's experience. read more

The standout for me is that I have never had anything but outstanding service here - consistently over 15 years? This is a favorite of my bestie and her Mom, which is what brings me from Tucson to dine here for special occasions. Went here after a Pilates class at the Biltmore.... Which, mind you is directly next door to this restaurant I'm a mall. I just wanted a nice steak and some red wine at the bar after a long day and a light workout. I was in Lululemon athletic wear, 3 layers so nothing inappropriate or overly revealing. Also mind you, my athletic wear costs more than most of my street clothes. I appeared clean and had jewelry on and hair done back. I was turned away by a very rude middle aged hostess who said they don't serve "people in athletic wear" and there's "obviously a dress code here." I travel for work and have eaten at many a nice steak house in "athletic wear" because busy people that work hard, stay fit and e joy nice food often multi tasks. There's also a tactful way to turn people away. So I went across the street to Flint, who didn't turn me away or treat me with any disrespect, and spent the same $300 I was going to spend at Capital Grill but had a much better experience. read more

Our server was there too get us started right away. She gave some cocktails suggestions and then have us time to decide. While we waited for our cocktails, a young man brought is a bread basket with four different kinds of bread m there is one with toasted onion on top and it was soooo good! We both went with a wedge salad. If you know me, you know I love a wedge salad. This one had huge pieces of bacon and large chunks of blue cheese, just the way I like it. I was already getting full by the time I finished the salad, but I wouldn't let that stop me. We ordered twinsies again--we both got the filet. Mine was rare, which is just the way I like it: cool red center. Our steaks were served with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. I don't like cooked spinach, BUT I love the creamed spinach at The Capital Grill. We finished of with the strawberry cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake--a little bit heaven. The chocolate cake is not too sweet, but very chocolatey and rich We rolled out of there very, very full, even though our server had to box some of our food up. Went there to celebrate brother-in-law's birthday with reservations for 6:30. Cocktails were good as was the calamari. The food was great and never disappoints as I had salmon and others had steak all cooked to perfection accompanied by truffle fries and creamed corn with bacon. We had small desserts with coffee which were delicious. Unfortunately, our waiter was attending to a private party as well as our table and another table but we were largely unattended and had to wait a long time to get his attention for the check and each course. We did not leave the restaurant until 9:30 (a 3-hr meal) despite wanting to leave at about 9:00. Our waiter clearly was not up to multitasking and our tip reflected this.
