Went there to celebrate brother-in-law's birthday with reservations for 6:30. Cocktails were good as was the calamari. The food was great and never disappoints as I had salmon and others had steak all cooked to perfection accompanied by truffle fries and creamed corn with bacon. We had small desserts with coffee which were delicious. Unfortunately, our waiter was attending to a private party as well as our table and another table but we were largely unattended and had to wait a long time to get his attention for the check and each course. We did not leave the restaurant until 9:30 (a 3-hr meal) despite wanting to leave at about 9:00. Our waiter clearly was not up to multitasking and our tip reflected this. Next time will opt for different venue where a 96 yo mother-in-law won't have to spend 3 long hours in a wheelchair. read more

This is not our first time to dine at Capital Grille. In our past experience, the food & the service here is always great; & we usually go there for special occasions. We went again tonight for celebration. My family member wants to try their newly promoted ' Wagyu & Wine' for its Wagyu burgers. So when we were at the table, my family member tried to order 'the burger & wine' ; (I was ordering the lamp chops), the waitress told us that we could only order the burger at the 'lounge' aka the bar & suggested we move to the bar. We did not want to move so my family member just ordered from the main menu. However our table across from us, both ladies ordered the 'burgers' & the other waiter took the order. We felt like we were discriminated. After our food arrived, I talked to the manager about the whole incident. The manager explained that we could order anything we want & that the waitress had made a mistake. We still enjoyed the food but somehow the dining experience was diminished; because my family member really wants a burger. The manager was kind enough to deduct his item from our bill. While I appreciate the Manager's action, I still find this experience unbecoming of a fine dining establishment. read more

Great dinner all around but most of all the service. Heather J was fabulous. It was our first time there and she answered all our questions, gave great recommendations and really helped guide us. She let me sample the wine before ordering which was great because I was not a fan of it and went with an espresso martini. We started with seafood platter and the special of Wagyu tartare. Seafood platter was incredible. The shrimp were so meaty and the lobster was great. We asked for some butter and Heather gave it to us in a split second and even went and grabbed a second so we didn't have to share. Tartare was just ok. There were so many good options I wish I would have picked something else. Every part of the meal she provided something extra like that. We got the dry aged NY strip and scallops. The scallops were possibly the best I have had ever. I'm originally from the east coast and god have a missed fresh seafood. Honestly, the steak was the most disappointing for us. It was a little under and kinda tough. The next time we come we will def be sticking to the seafood. The au gratin potato side was delicious. We also got a little desert sampler and I can not recommend the crème brûlée cheesecake enough. I am not a desert person at all but would go back just for that. SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS The Capital Grille 2502 E Camelback Road Phoenix Today was companion's birthday, so we celebrated by going to the Capital Grille for dinner. Of all the restaurants in the Phoenix area there are only a few that are of the caliber of this restaurant. We were seated immediately at a table decorated for companion's birthday with little mylar happy birthday cutouts sprinkled on the table along with a hand written birthday card from the restaurant. A wonderful bread service was immediately brought to the table along with butter at a spreadable consistency. We ordered a lovely Argentinian Malbec wine to go with the meal. Our waiter Dylan was right on point with our every want and need. Companion had a plate of New England clam chowder and I had a fabulous plate of Lobster Bisque which had lots of lobster pieces swimming in it along with some sherry. For main courses, I pre-ordered Steak au Poivre with cream sauce for companion and steak Diane for myself. Neither of these dishes are on the menu, but Capital Grille is noted for going above and beyond for their customers' wishes. Side dishes included nicely grilled asparagus and their creamed corn with big chunks of bacon in it. The corn was fresh off the cob and quite delicious. Neither of us could finish our meals and if the dog touches the bags we brought home she will be looking for a new home! Dessert was complimentary for companion's birthday, and was big enough for both of us to eat. It included fresh berries in a raspberry sauce, creme brulee cheesecake, and a decadent chocolate fudge that was very dense and meltingly delicious. The Capital Grill is a steak house, but has so much more. It is just beautiful and it is fine dinning at its best. Parking is easy in a structure nearby. Everything here is so very good and the service is just the best. We had reservations and was seated within 5 minutes. The servers are great and can guide you through the wine list or answer any questions. The service is relaxed, but not slow. Besides you won't want to leave. We had some of the best good. We loved the oysters on the half shell to start. We had 6 of those to share. We also had jumbo lump crab, North Atlantic lobster, shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, a huge cold platter called, Grand Plateau. We, of course shared all of that. We had some friends with us so we were able to try and share a lot of lovely food. For our mains, we had a 22 oz. bone is rib eye that was just amazing. I mean it was perfect in every way. The roasted chicken breast was so tender. It comes with a parmesan risotto and I tell you, I could have that for dinner, it was so wonderful. The seared tuna was sushi grade and delicious. The salmon with with marcona almonds and brown butter was a huge hit. The lobster mac and cheese was super good and the little ones loved it. Try the au gratin potatoes, they spend time making this dish great. The soy-glazed brussels sprouts with bacon was good, but I am getting tired of brussel sprouts, but it was gone. We sadly did not have room for desserts. But they have a nice list. Now, please, this place is expensive and beautiful so don't go dressed like a slob, besides they won't let you in. They have a dress code. I love dress codes for fine dinning. Maybe I am just old, but really, do you only own cargo shorts. I will quote for you the dress code, "To better deliver on our promise of a refined atmosphere, proper dress is required. Thank you for not wearing: athletic shorts, uncovered sports bras or other bra-style tops, excessively revealing clothing or exposed undergarments, or any clothing with offensive language or images. Capital grille is by far my favorite place to eat in Arizona. Wether it's the lamb chops, the porcini rubbed ribeye or the petite filet, capital grille is always my first choice. Other than having absolutely delicious food, it seems like their service is always the best too. The pan fried calamari and the filet are always my go to's here! Paired with either the asparagus and lobster mac and cheese, or the brussel sprouts and the lobster mac and cheese. Stopped by for there generous pour event with my wife and two other couples. I did not partake in the wine since I had a little too much the night before. Celebrated my birthday at the Capital Grill Biltmore location. It had been a number of years since I had been there. It was quite busy for our 7:00 pm reservation and I appreciated that we were seated in a private room towards the back area of the restaurant. There were a number of other tables celebrating anniversaries, birthdays and it was nice to be in the private room with all the other festive tables. The table was decorated with happy birthday confetti and there was also a birthday card as well. We had the passion fruit mojito and the champagne with fruit and raspberries. I had the goat cheese salad and it was one of the best salads I have had in a long time. Fresh raspberries, blackberries, toasted sliced almonds and a very flavorful vinaigrette with red and yellow grape tomatoes were perfectly tossed with the baby spinach. Then we ordered the Chicken dish with risotto and the carmelized French onion soup and the Parmesan truffle fries. Everything was very tasty and then they brought out a birthday dessert with a flourless chocolate cake and their cheesecake with fruit. The desserts were delicious. The sear was so burnt while cutting it. It would fall apart like roast beef when I ordered a medium rare steak. I came for the generous pour event. They do not skimp on this at all. I got to taste some really great wines and they kept coming back for fresh pours throughout the evening. I started with the lobster bisque soup, which was truly incredible with huge chunks of lobster. I can't wait to go back and have more. The risotto dish was very tasty yet I think a little pricey, as there was not much lobster in it. The flourless cake was very small however it was a perfect pairing with red wine. This was a high dollar meal. The only reason I knocked a star off was because I feel this restaurant should require a little bit more from its patrons. My husband and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day early, so we made a reservation for The Capital Grille for the Saturday before! This location is located within the Biltmore, so parking was challenging. Fortunately, they have complimentary valet (please tip though!!!!), which was really nice. I had dined at their Pittsburgh location in the past, but my husband had never been. We had one of the greatest dining experiences of our lives at TCG. Our server, Joseph, was excellent throughout the whole dinner, and we absolutely will be requesting his section when we go back. We were seated in the Frank Lloyd Wright room, which was adorned with stylistic photographs of his different projects. I didn't take a photo out of respect for the many other patrons present. After looking over the menu, I decided on the sliced filet mignon with cipollini onions, mushrooms, and fig essence. The steak was cooked to a beautiful medium and tasted delicious. My husband had the special surf and turf - wagyu filet and South African lobster. It was exceptional! The wagyu made my filet taste like just a regular steak!! We shared a side of mashed potatoes, which were also really delicious. For dessert, we were gifted a cheesecake with brûlée topping and a flourless chocolate espresso cake. Came here for lunch with my annual ornament exchange group. This location is centralize for us and I love how Biltmore decorates for the holidays. Make a reservation! They were crazy business, I had to valet my car (no spots available at all). Yes it was that crazy for lunch during the holidays. We were seated in the perfect area for 8 of us. The server came to greet us quickly, got our drink orders, and give us some time to review the lunch menu. She also went over the specials they had for the day. I have been feeling like a steak for over a week, I had to be the Ribeye Steak Sandwich with Havarti (hold the onions please). It was served on a grilled French loaf and a side of french fries. First time at Capital Grille. We arrived at 5:50, with a 6 PM reservation on a Friday but we were seated right away. There seemed to be about half of the tables full as we walked through but 80% at the end of our fantastic dinner. Burgundy walls with wood paneling adorned the dining room where we were seated, along with white tablecloths and eclectic art. Very pleasant Tony Bennet/Frank Sinatra music wafted in from some unknown source. My wife ordered a glass of wine to go with her Tenderloin and Lobster tail while I got the nightly special: Filet Minion and Lobster Tail, with a cup of Lobster Bisque and an iced tea. We also shared a dish of Spinach sautéed in butter with roasted garlic. Our server, Joseph, spent the perfect amount of time with us, keeping our dining pleasure at the top of the scale. We also had several runners filling glasses and clearing empty plates. The Bisque was warm, creamy, and rich, with several chunks of lobster, freshly ground black pepper and a splash of sherry. The Spinach was prepared as advertised, with several roasted garlic cloves. I would like to recreate that dish. The steaks were cooked perfectly to order, seasoned well and offered with lobster. My wife's had a lovely, buttery sauce over the tails and steak. Mine came with a rich fig reduction, cipollinis and mushrooms. Our check came to $235.66, which was one of our more expensive meals in some time but, after discussion, we agreed that it was the best we'd had in a very long time. I get this place may be known for their steak. They should never be known for their chicken or sea bass. The Chicken with mushrooms risotto was DISGUSTING. The chicken was too dry even with the (might as well have been) the Fry's dry packet of gravy. It tasted exactly like that. I've NEVER tasted anything so gross, ever. If you get your Sea Bass different on the menu, say, added scallops and shrimp, just know it's $10/scallop, $6/one piece of tiny shrimp, and you may not be told it's an added cost (be smart, always ask as you clearly won't be told, that's smart restaurant patronage intelligence anyway). Be prepared, less than a 1/4 glass of a full wine glass (not a tester-taste) is apparently, the new pour. Never have I seen that in all my years in the restaurant business. The person next to us said he's, "had way better steak at far cheaper restaurants, won't be back." Thank you to the manager, part of it was made right; I will give that to the restaurant, greatly appreciated! I plan huge events at restaurants all over the valley. Food, service, ambiance, all of it, is paramount...for 2 people, for 50+, for a great experience, and to come back and spend LARGE amounts of money at a well-established venue. If 3 people sitting next to each other, all had 3 different items, and all were junk...with those types of odds, we won't be back.
