Let me preface this review by saying I have been in customer service for 25 years. My wife and I wanted to try a new restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We try our best to support local businesses in our community. In my opinion, the prices do not reflect the quality of the food or service. My wife sent back her miniature crab cakes and the server displayed a horrible attitude! We couldn't leave fast enough. Competition is stiff both locally and corporate. Dinner tonight w a party of 5. Service was adequate & eager to please. Food was average at best. My steak had a lot of gristle but a decent flavor. Our crab cake appetizer came out ice cold as did the center of our molten lava cake desert. So much for molten! We let the server know but no adjustment to our bill. That's not cool. One of the bottles of wine we ordered was sold out, as was our next choice....so we went with a third string choice. They had live music tonight in the bar but it was so loud on the other side of the dividing wall into the dining room we couldn't carry on a conversation across our table. This was after i complimented the chef and the amaZing burger with bourbon glazed onions that should be on the menu. I highly recommend giving this place a try. This was our 5th time eating at The Cellar and it was another Great dinner. We had the Jamaican fried pickles as our appetizer and Crab Artichoke Salmon as our entrée, the pickles were excellent and it was the Best Salmon dish I've ever eaten. Well the service was poor the entire night but nothing tops the fact that the waitress helped herself to an extra $95 ... thanks to my debit card. I called the restaurant and after a week passed I have yet to hear from the manager or owner. Bank of America did complete a fraud claim and the charges will be reversed thank goodness. This place has gotten progressively worse. Last night was the worst. We didn't stay to order food the service was so bad. First of all the waiter did nothing but complain about other staff. When we were ordering drinks he walked away in the middle of the order. When he returned after a 10-minute wait I asked him why he left and he said we started visiting with another waiter. Long story short this is incorrect and as we began to reorder he said he would get a manager. When the manager came back she advised we would have a new waiter with no explanation or apology. We love this place. We sat in the outside bar area and had a great time. They had live music, which was great. She sang beautifully and it was extremely relaxing after a long day at work. We ordered the fried pickles for appetizers. Let me say, these were probably the best fried pickles ever! They were breaded to perfection and tasted amazing. We ordered the gumbo, the fish tacos and the beyond burger. The food was fresh and cooked amazingly. They also have the best sweet potatoe fries ever! Our friends from out of town really enjoyed themselves and the food. Laurie B. was out waitress and she was awesome! Her food recommendations were on point. We moved to the area a year ago, and she probably gave us the best customer service we have had in a restaurant, since moving here. Thank you Laurie for being so great and thank you everyone at The Cellar for such a great time and great food. I do recommend this place. Came to town for the day to check out Newnan and meet some friends, nice little meeting spot coming from opposite directions. We were pleasantly surprised to see the Family Style Sunday lunch! Less than $20/adult and included several side dishes, southern style chicken & park, & dessert. As others mention, the service was below par. We had told our waitress we weren't in any hurry and would like to enjoy our coffees before our meal arrived. Within moments bread was served and we once more asked to hold off on playing the meal. Once more our food arrived quickly and to further disappoint it was cold. When it was time to check out we had to ask the bartender twice to send our waitress to deliver our bill, as she was no where to be seen. The food and atmosphere was enjoyable for a little lunch, if it wasn't for the affordability I would probably dock another star based on lack luster customer service. read more

The Cellar is our go to place for a nice dinner out and for special celebrations. My husband and I were pretty excited for the Bays, a more casual side, to open. We visited on Super Bowl Sunday, and were less than impressed. The sound during the game was horrible- it was high pitched and hard to listen to. We tried the chili dip- which was good. Our appetite quickly diminished when a patron at the end of the bar started vaping and a cloud of smoke came our way. When the bartender came back from his smoke break- he smelled like he just got out of a smoke filled car, when he talked to us, we could smell the reek of smoke on his breath. Needless to say we paid the check and left, pretty disappointed. read more

The atmosphere was cozy, a blend of subtle orient fused with urban loft, tealites on the table and Edison glass bottle light fixtures. Old blue eyes and Loius Armstrong wafted softly over the radio. Our server was very attentive throughout the entire meal, although they were not at all busy on a Tuesday night. Conch fritters were decent but a little greasy, accompanying sauces were standouts. Entrees consisted of kabobs of steak, chicken and shrimp, Shrimp and Grits, and a Lamb burger for my 12 year old son. All of which were very good. We also ordered the lobster bisque which in my wife's and my opinion, was the best both of us have ever had. No bread service was seen, which I felt was lacking, this should be standard, and shouldn't have to be requested. Restrooms were pretty clean, cramped and completely contrasted the atmosphere of the restaurant with 1960s sky blue tile on the floor and walls. The entrees took a considerable amount of time to arrive given the restaurant was almost empty. Dessert selections were limited to four choices neither of which had pricing on the menu, so we opted out. The service and food overall were good, as was the atmosphere, so we will be going back and would recommend to others. read more

I stumbled on this place while in Newnan. I decided to eat in the Bays area which was a really cool setting, it was an open air concept with garage doors raised up. I ordered the seared ahi tuna as an appetizer. The quality of the tuna was very good and they cooked it perfectly. The only problem was the sauce that was on top as it had a TON of wasabi in it. I took one bite and lit up my mouth. I scraped off the rest of it and it was manageable but only if I dipped it in the lime dipping sauce that came with it. I ordered the kebab platter with chicken and filet mignon. They were underwhelming. The chicken and steak were cooked properly but had no real flavor or seasoning. I had a side of broccoli and it was extremely salty, the salt was inside the broccoli almost as though they boiled it in a brine instead of steaming it. The broccoli also had a shrimpy after taste so I almost wondered if they cooked it in the same water as they used to boil shrimp. All in all, I was disappointed. Probably won't give them a second chance. read more

The problem at The Cellar is in the more formal part of the restaurant the service is lacking... badly lacking, and the food is nothing special. They let empty dishes sit, never suggested dessert... never made us feel particularly welcome. Oddly, the table next to us was given a white table cloth while the rest of us went without. When the cellar first opened in its original location it was excellent. My husband and I visited multiple times when it was located there and I cannot recall anything other than really great experiences. Since moving to the new location, I have noticed a decline in the quality of service as well as the food. In fact, our last visit... around Valentines Day was pretty awful. Upon leaving a review noting bad service (to not just us but to the table next to us who we overheard complaining as well) and disappointment in the quality of food wee received a mixed response including a comment that "they wouldn't have recommended what we ordered for a Valentine celebration." I'm not sure how that's relevant to the fact that our server was awful, dropping food literally in my husbands lap and not apologizing, dirty water and silverware and flavorless, overcooked food but regardless of what they had recommended what we ordered was what we were interested in and wanting to eat and at $30 plus per plate I expect a better than O'charleys, Longhorn etc meal. Our visits to the cellar have declined nearly to nonexistent due to the factors mentioned which is a shame as 1. We originally loved the restaurant and spent good money frequently there and 2. We love supporting small businesses in downtown Newnan. read more

Would probably never come here if it weren't for The Bays' atmosphere. Honestly, the service takes such a long time (like an hour wait between ordering and actually getting your food... or one time two hours because our order got "stuck behind a large party"). Also the food is hit or miss. Some items are so flavorful (like their burgers) while others... not so much (like their fish and chips). Also can only rate the food they actually have in stock at the time. Have been here three times and each time at least one thing we order they're out of. One time we each finally got our THIRD choice. Also wish they'd have a description of their sides. Unless you ask, you'd only think they had fries. Bottom line- atmosphere is great, food options are definitely unique and pretty delicious, but staff/kitchen needs to get their timing down. Wait times are ridiculous. read more

We have eaten there twice this month. Both times the service, food, atmosphere were amazing. One evening a table for 4 and the next was a table for six. Everything we had was delicious. One night I made reservations with Open Table from their website and it was perfect, even got the round table we requested for 6 people. The round table was perfect for relaxing, visiting and catching up. We ordered the cheese, charcuterie platter and it came on a round table you could spin around so everyone could sample what they wanted. The steaks, seafood and chicken were cooked to perfection!! The fried green tomatoes appetizer is VERY good! I had the tenderloin medallions, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband had the aged fillet, baked macaronni & cheese. This was my second trip to The Cellar and I was unimpressed. We had fried pickles to start with which were delicious!! However the rest of the meal was horrible. My wife had the shrimp and grits which was okay. I ordered the $39 ribeye. The kitchen did a decent job of cooking it to medium rare like I requested but it was far from a $39 steak. I've had Walmart ribeyes that were so much better. I guess in the end I just feel ripped off. If the steak had been priced at $12 I would be giving a better review. My wife and I have a 2 year old so we don't get a chance to eat fancy often. I feel like The Cellar stole my time and money. Don't go here. Drinks were watered down as well. read more

Last night we went to dinner and the service was absolutely awful. Our food was fine. The warm bread was store bought, not made in house. We had to ask for more of anything that we needed and getting our waiters attention was extremely difficult because he disappeared several times. We waited an extremely long time to have our plates cleared. We asked for the dessert menu but by the time he returned to ask us what we wanted, we opted to go some where else for dessert. Honestly, my husband and I will not return. This is the second time we have been there and for the PRICE!, it is not worth the service, Sad to say but I would not recommend this eating establishment to anyone. Candle on the table was not lit and I even moved it to the edge of the table and it was ignored, just like us. Fine dining with this price tag should pay attention to small details and make customers feel appreciated. Even though the food was fine, the service stands above food at this point. read more

This is supposed to be Newnan's "premier" restaurant..!? WAY overpriced and food was average at best. Waited for the waitress for 20 minutes after being seated (and the place was not even busy), stated as "chophouse" so you'd think a basic burger would be cooked as ordered. Medium-rare Burger meat was over cooked and dry. Not buying that it's made of the "showcase" beef they say it is either! Bisque less than average. Waitress seemed out of it.. While blonde hostess is cute, the continuous bending over and stretching and running her fingers through her hair every second was really strange and kinda gross in a restaurant setting. Serving Kangaroo and Yak?? Uh, no thanks.... Do yourself a favor, go to Meat & Greet down the street, where food is excellent, service is good and half the $$$! Not impressed with the food. Atmosphere was spot on! Service great. Cold beer. I ordered the grilled cobia- my all time favorite fish. The chef left in the bloodline(????)it was ok at best. Cobia should be mild and almost melt in your mouth. Premium price subpar food. My son's fries were really great! That's all I have to say for a family of five eating there. read more
