I just went to The Chapman for brunch, and I had the best time! First of all, they have espresso martini trees with 6 martinis for $75, which was such a fun way to share some drinks for brunch! I got the Farmer's Chicken Salad, which had a great assortment of fresh veggies and feta. The chicken portion was huge, but I would have preferred it if it were blackened. I was obsessed with the crème brûlée french toast and would highly recommend ordering this as a dessert to split! It was so gooey and delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly, and overall the service was really good. The only thing I wish I had known ahead of time was that gratuity was automatically added to the bill. We've been to the Chapman four or five times now, and I can honestly say this place is phenomenal and truly embodies both the historical Winter Park culture as well as the upscale vibe that Park Avenue tends to exhibit among its visitors. We've enjoyed all sorts of different dishes, including their various varieties of Florida fish. They're roasted chicken, their burgers, their pork tenderloin they're Aji tuna salad, and multiple brunch items that we really enjoyed my younger nephew really enjoyed the pancakes from the Chapman and said they were the best he's ever had, which is great because he's a pretty picky kid. We will continue coming back, but most likely during off-times when it's a bit more quiet. While the brunch times offered incredible food, the DJ's music wasn't really our vibe and it was hard to hear ourselves and the server. My only two suggestions for the Chapman are: 1.) Consider the type of music played during brunch and its volume levels. The vibe of this restaurant is sophisticated, classy, and elegant. This team has taken so much care to design an interior space that is inviting and beautiful to experience. When a DJ is blasting music like "Baby Got Back" or "...Hit Me Baby One More Time" and the volume is so loud that the speakers are distorting, it's difficult to have conversations or hear our server in such a nice space. It makes us want to shy away from the morning brunch times, unfortunately. Which is a shame because the morning brunch food was some of our favorite, but with our family wanting to spend time together and talk and catch up it's really not possible with this loud music. (If it were up to me (and granted I am just one opinion, though a former DJ myself) I would play some deep house music that helps build upon the upscale vibe of this restaurant played at an acceptable level such that servers and customers don't have to yell. House music can be very classy, modern and contemporary for a space like this and I think would help echo its brand well. 2.) Consider expanding your NA offerings to include some low-sugar options, such as NA Amaro for old fashioneds, cucumber/basil refreshers, etc. Take a look at what some of the other NA offerings are around the avenue, like Prato and Ava, who even offers NA champagne. Many restaurants are going beyond the "NA Mule" and "NA Margarita"....offering bittersweet and refreshing mocktails. read more

We shared a Lobster Flatbread, (24) which was a little salty for us, but yummy. We each enjoyed our entree - Grilled Fish of the Day (Mahi) (42), Shrimp Bucatini with Sundried Tomatoes (29), and Ribeye Steak (78). We paired the steak with Ken Wright Pinot Noir, and the fish with Trimbach Riesling. Both delicious. The Winter Park mocktail was also very good. We then shared a Creme Brule. Mary was a great server. We chatted a little, and I found that Chef Cliff, former EC of Seasons 52, Disney Europe, California Grill atvContemporary Resort..., is their Corporate Executive Chef. Great restaurant with even better service. Truly has some of the best staff I have ever came across in Orlando. They are so attentive, Informative, kind, and charismatic. Told us the history of the place and knew every detail of the menu. They even gave us a free complimentary off the menu dessert that was so light and airy. My personal favorite was the carrots and my partner loved his pork chop. I'm obsessed with the winter park non alcoholic drink they have but just be warned it can get a little sticky. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the tone. We were seated in a cozy corner, and despite being indoors, the indoor-outdoor design made it feel like we were dining al fresco. It has that rare ability to feel intimate and open at the same time. I ordered the Coco Dancer -- jalapeño-infused tequila with coconut, elderflower, and lime -- and somewhere between the first sip and the second, I forgot we were in Winter Park. It genuinely felt like being transported on vacation. Bright, balanced, and just the right amount of heat. We unintentionally went fully vegetarian. I'm not vegetarian, and that wasn't the plan -- but everything we chose simply sounded too interesting to pass up. The eggplant involtini, stuffed with zucchini, garbanzos, and raisins, topped with crisp pistachio and pomegranate and finished with a curry yogurt sauce over basmati rice, was beautifully layered. I'm not typically a raisin fan, but here they added a subtle sweetness and textural contrast that really worked. The crispy bang bang lion's mane was another standout -- light and crisp on the outside with a surprisingly meaty, almost lobster-like texture inside. Terrific. My 3 course meal included fried lions main mushrooms, steak, and a blueberry mango crisp. I wasn't overly impressed with the food as it wasn't as warm as I thought it should be, but I will say I thoroughly enjoyed the steak. As an occasional beef eater, I thought it was well seasoned and cooked. I may have to return for dinner on a regular night to get a better food experience. The citrus feta and ricotta dip was delicious. Lightly drizzled with a citrus hot honey. Divine!. The ahi tuna two ways and the artisanal burrata and prosciutto were equally delicious. Decided to try this on a Thursday night, and it was already extremely busy which is a good sign that the food is great, so I was already pretty pumped going in. Despite it being pretty full already, I was seated immediately. So clearly they're off to a great start. The setting is kinda "retro-modern" for lack of a better term, but it was sleek and still cozy enough. I tried a "sorel martini" and while it had nothing to do with a martini, it was a very light, floral, and fun drink. First thing that came out was their "grazing board", and for the first time in a long time I did not feel ripped off by ordering a charcuterie board at a restaurant. Every selection was top notch and unique. The standout, was this citrus butter they served with it that didn't seem like it should work but was so good you could probably slather it on the curtains and make them edible. My main was the pork tenderloin which was perfectly prepared, and so tender you could cut it with a sharpie. With a cherry reduction that fantastic, Another flavor combination I wouldn't have thought of, but it was unique and to die for. I also tried my dining companions fries that were very good and super crispy, but a little under salted in my opinion. Lastly I ordered the chocolate cake. Forewarning, this cake is less cake and more fudge... Or possibly even some kind of white dwarf star material. This thing was dense, and I mean really dense. All that being said, it was absolutely delicious and I couldn't stop eating it, one of those things where I kept telling myself to put the spoon down and then it would magically teleport to my hand again with more cake each time. My last few praises: the portion sizes are larger than you would expect at a restaurant this nice, which is a huge plus; the staff was all exceedingly friendly; they serve their food on normal plates with minimal gimmickry; and they are attached to a bar that looks extremely nice that I would like to check out someday. This was truly one of the best dining experiences of my life -- and probably the best meal I've ever had. My husband and I came in for a date night and were told we had to try the crab cake, the bread, and the Wagyu steak. When I say I was blown away by the food, I'm not being dramatic -- it was absolutely incredible. The Wagyu was served medium and cooked to perfection. It came with a side of wine reduction and salt that elevated the flavors beautifully. Both my husband and I agreed: this was one of the best steaks we've ever had. The bread was freshly made with local ingredients, and you could truly taste the difference. But the crab cake really stole the show -- it was packed with chunks of crab, paired with sweet corn and a sauce that complemented it perfectly. Even though we were already full, we couldn't resist trying the butternut squash soup, the ravioli, and the crème brûlée. Every single dish was outstanding. From start to finish, everything was perfect -- the service, the atmosphere, the decor, and of course, the food. The staff especially made the experience unforgettable. I will say that the bang bang lions Maine was one of my favorite because it definitely gives you the impression of a bang bang shrimp at the same time. There's just no meat. Very flavorful and very tasty. The chicken was delicious as well, my partner had to fillet. The chicken was very moist cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes that sat underneath it was delicious. So good that I couldn't even finish, but I had to pack it away for lunch and take it with me. The bruschetta wasn't bad at all either, however, it really took my breath away and is unfortunately not listed as the Rumrunner that was crafted and made for me. Super flavorful and you can tell the bartender was very good with her hands. If there's anything that I didn't like about this restaurant is that the menu is very very limited, But it's more or less because they're specialist in what they can cook. For what it's worth, it's delicious. I wouldn't come back only because I've experienced it and there's so much more to experience. We had a bit of a running joke as we waited a pretty long time to finally have a pitcher of water brought to our table. Wow, the food here was amazing. I came for happy hour and I sat at the bar and the bartenders were really really friendly to me. Also, they engaged in great conversation. I had the espresso martini. It wasn't on the happy hour menu but that's my go to drink so I had it and it was really good and flavorful from the happy hour menu. They do have some wine and that tuna poke tostada that I had was really fresh And it came with the sauce that was almost like an aïoli and it was really good highly recommend a tuna poke tostada. I was still hungry, so I ended up getting the dinner of the chicken with potatoes and the mashed potatoes were creamy with this sort of gravy on it. It was really good. So so impressed with this new restaurant on Park Avenue! First of all, the restaurant is HUGE with plenty of indoor and outdoor tables, booths, a beautiful bar, lounge style seating by the bar, and a private back room that would be perfect for events. They transformed the space so beautifully with old Florida paintings but modern fixtures. Our waitress Leann was an absolute gem. She was so friendly, knowledgeable about the menu even though it is very new, and kind to our table. The service was ON IT with clean plates and beautiful serving wear even down to the drink cups. Now most importantly, the food matched everything said above. Usually trying a place so close to opening the staff is still working out kinks but not here. The food was all hot and incredible. The pappardelle you could tell was fresh made noodles and was a pasta unlike any I've ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. All the sides were large portioned and so fresh and delicious. They explained that almost all the ingredients are locally grown and it shows. My DH and I traveled down to Winter Park to start a little two-day getaway. We began with lunch at The Chapman. We were welcomed by very friendly staff and decided to eat outside. Since it was mid-May, it was pleasant and not hot. Our server, Lilli, was a delight! She answered all of our questions about the restaurant and about various offerings on the menu, and made a few suggestions for items we might enjoy as well. We ended up ordering Lions Mane Bang Bang as our appetizer and it was DIVINE! Flavorful and the texture of the mushrooms was a revelation! I ordered the Seared Tuna served in an avocado with raspberry poke. There were purple pickled onion pieces and pickled carrots & cucmbers that were pickled perfectly, very delicate and flavorful. It truly enhanced the experience. DH ordered the Florida Fish Crunch Sandwich, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Sitting outside was a great choice, with mild weather & excellent people watching. To celebrate my birthday, we ordered two desserts (OK, we couldn't decide, haha!) The first was the Dark Chocolate Valhrona Cake. Rich and the raspberry coulis was bright and truly enhances the dark chocolate. The other dessert was the Key lime pie. For this dessert, the standout was the crust! The meringue on top was also incredible - fluffy and light, flavorful and toasted perfectly - the pie was tart but not overwhelmingly so. Delicious! This is a hard rating because on a different night it could have been different but a couple of things happened that really brought down the rating. My party of 5 arrived at 530 and the restaurant was not even half full. They sat us at a table which had the blinding sun shining on one side of it. We asked if there was a shade to pull down and their response was, it will get better in 6 minutes. We did not accept that as a solution so they begrudgingly moved us to another table in the not even 50% full restaurant. We ordered an appetizer that was never delivered and one of the chicken dinners was delivered raw. They made another chicken dinner to go since it took so long to correct. They comped that meal.
