More than anything, the reason i recommend the Charlie Noble is the space. The dining room is huge, and never seems loud. This is in stark contrast to every other restaurant we've to in Nantucket, which have been small with tables packed pretty close together. Even with sports on the tv and people at the bar, you can talk at a reasonable volume here and not overhear everyone else's conversations. The shishito peppers were nice, fish and chips exactly what you'd hope for, and Guinness is on tap, which I can never resist. Lobster mac and cheese left something to be desired on the cheese front, but the lobster was nice and tender. And the service is always friendly. We were in Nantucket for the day. Since it's off peak season not many options for lunch. We came across The Charlie Noble and thought we'd try it. Restaurant just a few mins from ferry docks. Friendly welcoming staff. Our waiter n bar tender were so helpful. Unlike other restaurants in Nantucket this is bigger spacious restaurant .Nicely decorated interior. We tried the brunch menu. So many options n was hard to choose. But we settled on lobster Reuben n Korean chicken Sammie. Omg that lobster Reuben was to die for. Generous portions of lobster n every bite/ morsel was delicious. And the fries that came with it was so good . The Korean chicken Sammy too was good n spicy. We just polished off our plates. We were last on Nantucket about nine years ago and went to a highly-rated and chic small plates place. While the tastes there were good, it was very expensive and we left hungry and going to get pizza after! So this visit we wanted a casual pub with good food, good drinks, and less pretentious vibe. Charles Noble delivered. Their outside patio is beautiful. Interior is modern and spacious. All of our food was very good--and generous portions! We shared the smoked bluefish appetizer and fried cauliflower. So so so good--both. I had the smaller sized lobster roll which was huge. The buns are larger than other places. Toasted perfectly with tons of big lobster chunks. My hubby had the fish and chips, also delicious. We both agreed the French fries were really light and tasty. I had a good Manhattan. He had local IPAs. Wonderful server spending her second summer on Nantucket (she is from Bulgaria). Very attentive and nice. We returned to our B and B very contented. We didn't have a reservation and we walked in and were seated immediately. The service was quick, but at times almost a little too quick. We ordered the lobster quesadilla and the caesar salad to share. I'd recommend both, especially the lobster quesadilla because it is unique and the flavors worked really well together. The salad was also good, but the crunchy pieces of bread that served as giant croutons were the best part. The servers were a little too eager to clear our plates. Very impressed by the food here! Not just the seafood, but the craftsmanship and thought that went to creating each dish. It makes for great presentation and texture. TLDR - get the lobster roll and the manchego crab dip, and crab cakes! MANCHEGO CRAB DIP*** Melty, deeply savory, with crab finely mixed in to create a smooth texture served in a skillet so that the edges are nice and crispy without any burning. Served with tortilla chips (feel homemade, not sure tho) with a great crunch. I was shocked by how much I liked it as though I've had lots of crab, I don't usually end up loving it the way I did this - and the crab flavor was pretty strong as well! CRAB CAKE*** The appetizer comes with just one crab cake so if you're feeling crab cakes, maybe get one of the entrees. I'm also not normally a fan of crab cakes but I saw the good reviews and I'm so glad we did. This crispy, delicate exterior that precedes a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth crab patty that while has crab flavor also is nicely salty, savory, and other herbs and flavors kick in as well. I wish I was more well versed to describe each of them but all I knew was that it was yummy! And I kept going back for more - another dish I was surprised I really enjoyed! LOBSTER ROLL*** Interesting take with the nicely toasted bread here as it was not cut all the way so it's almost like a bread bowl/sandwich combo which was cool. You get big pieces of really TENDER lobster topped with some herb garnishes and what I think was crispy onions? COD FISH SANDWICH They did a great job with this; thick patty of cod that was so so tender, melt in your mouth, fried to a beautiful golden brown and the add-ons created again a diverse flavor profile that takes it to the next level. You get the nice sourness, freshness and crunch from the pickles; the tartar sauce had a little color to it, maybe reminiscent of thousand island just a little bit? But still mostly tasted like tartar sauce - just taken up a notch! Fries were also beautifully crispy and seasoned, with a great hearty and savory potato-ey flavor. CLAM CHOWDER This chowder in particular tasted a little sweeter/milkier than the other ones I've had so far; it was yummy though the clam meat was a little tougher than I was used to getting, and the flavor wasn't as deeply savory/salty as the others I've had so my family didn't feel it was the best we had on our city-hopping trip but it was still enjoyable. Great place to visit while in Nantucket! I was working the wine and food festival and had a few hours to spare and was starving. They had my favorite rose BTG so I had to make a quick stop. I ordered the tuna poke bowl which was very fresh but also a bit smaller than others I've tried in my opinion and quite expensive too. Their outdoor dining is cute and not far from the ocean so the views are nice. An easy place to sit down for a quick lunch while shopping downtown. The staff was really nice and the place was clean. We had very nice cocktails and didn't have to wait long for our food. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and it was pretty watery w without a lot of flavor. Salting the pasta maybe would have helped and more cheese because I didn't feel like it was mac n cheese, I felt it was lobster, some macaroni, and a few pieces of shredded cheese trying to hold it together with too much water. I didn't even finish it but I ate the lobster in it because it was also expensive, which I expect on Big Island. He ordered the surf and turf burger and was not impressed as it was overcooked and also lacked flavor. He seemed to like the fries and that was good. I tasted his and it was definitely over cooked. After 20 years of coming to Nantucket, this is the 1st time I've been here (& my 1st Yelp review)! My mom is gluten free & this place is great with accommodating gluten/cross contamination. We visit Charlie Noble every time we go to Nantucket. The food is consistently good, occasionally very good. Prices are reasonable for the touristy part of Nantucket. The point deductions are due to inconsistent service and that paying via credit card defaults to a 25% tip. The crab boil was king crab and snow crab plus lots of sides. It was excellent. Expensive as to be expected. We also had the fish and chips. It was cooked well and fries were seasoned well. The kids got the cheeseburger and one we received was completely burned and black. We had to send it back. Other people with us had the lobster quesadilla and they said it was good. Service - I felt like this was actually a 3. The guy assigned to us was nice. He was very personable, but serving and taking our order was a super slow process. He had a a hard time seeing his screen and finding the menu items. Again SUPER nice guy though. Bringing water was slow and not enough. We came right before they opened so we were first to be seated. Whenever we would need help, he was always busy with another table. So we would ask someone else passing by. Came for lunch with my family. This has a pub type atmosphere but we ended up sitting outside which was nice. Had my kids with me and they were definitely kid friendly with high chairs, crayons, kid's menu. Everything you could want when taking your kids to a restaurant. We each had a drink with our meals. My husband had the French Van Glider and I had the pink Lemonade frose. We each loved our drinks. For my entree, I had the lobster quesadilla and wow it was good. I am still thinking about it. It had so much lobster in it and and an amazing sauce on it that gave it such good flavor. My husband got the surf and turf burger that came with lobster on top of it. He wasn't really a big fan of the burger, but enjoyed the lobster on top of it. I tried it and it was more of a charred type burger that tasted like one someone's dad would grill at a BBQ. It wasn't straight up bad but not really our style. My daughter got the kid's meal burger and she didn't really like it, I suspect for the same reason. We stopped in for dinner on our final night in Nantucket. We got outdoor seating for 10 of us. We were seated at 2 tables six feet apart. We had to wear our masks to be seated and use the restroom. The menu looked fabulous. My drink was fabulous it's was a Van Glyder with Tito, strawberry and.., I also got a Crab Cake BLT. It looked fabulous but the crab cake had no taste. There was no seasoning at all. I couldn't even taste salt and pepper. My nephew got the crab and shrimp boil and that had no taste either.
