Sorry Chart Room but it wasn't a great meal. It was our 49th wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to a wonderful time. We did have a good time but for example the lobster stew was delicious but luke warm. The grilled scallops tasted like steak...oops they were cooked on the same grill as the steaks. Fries were good and carrots were delicious and cooked just right. Next was coffee and dessert. Coffee was stale and luke warm. BUT the macadamia nut ice cream sundae was Awesome with 3 scoops of ice cream and lots of macadamia nuts, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Staff was very nice and location was very nice right on the water. It was the beginning of the summer season so I can only hope it gets better. read more

We ordered some crab cakes and clam chowder. Clam chowder was above average. However the crab cakes were below average and very doughy i.e. had too much bread with less of crab. We ended up eating here twice during our recent trip. The staff are delightful, the outside area is lovely, and the lobster rolls were so fresh. I enjoyed the crabmeat quiche the second time and the crust waa great. My youngest raved, seriously raved, about the chicken tenders. We also enjoyed that they had a great selection of beers from the local brewery, Atlantic Brewing Company. We came here before we caught the sunset. I liked how they had an option to sit outside, in a screened in patio, or inside. We chose to sit in the screened in patio. It was still very much open to the outside, which was nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were greeted quickly and waiting on quickly. The food was decent. We ate lobster and crab cakes. Both were good but nothing to write home about. I probably wouldn't return, but I wouldn't steer anyone away. read more

Stopped by The Chart Room while in Bar Harbor. We were seated in the patio area, which is screened in and had amazing views of the water. Recommend getting here on the early side for dinner or be prepared to wait. Also - parking seems like it could be a problem, there is a small lot out front and also across the street. Our server was really friendly and attentive, as was the rest of the team here. I ordered the Lazy Lobster - 4.5 oz of fresh picked lobster with garlic butter. Also a baked potato and asparagus on the side. It was delicious! Others in our party got the Lobster Newberg, halibut, salmon and baked stuffed fish. We all loved the food! This restaurant is on the water in Bar Harbor, Maine. The parking was full every time we drove by so we decided to try it. My friend had lobster. Pronounced it good. My other friend had steak. He said it was a little chewy in spots but had a good flavor. My dish was haddock in a sauce. I can't remember the name of the dish but it was the best tasting meal ever. The fish was excellent. We came early on September 21 to sit on deck as we are not ready for indoor dining with Covid happening and the location and setup were fine Our server was a pleasant young lady who was spot on. Great service, clean restaurant and restroom. For our appetizer we had the shrimp cocktail with the great hot cocktail sauce.. lobster dinner and the filet mignon entree. They were served with hot bread. Lobster was the usual boiled lobster, very tastie. The filet was in two pieces. Would have preferred a thicker piece vs two thin pieces. I had the Lobster Special, lobster, slaw, wedges for $23 ... very good. My husband had the stuffed Hailbet, very good. The menu has nice variety and looking around us everything looked very good. We had just arrived in Bar Harbor and was looking for a restaurant to eat dinner at. The first few places we chose didn't have any reservations/walk-ins available, so I called the Chart Room and they had a spot for us! We were able to choose indoor, outdoor with a covering/heat, or outdoor...I asked for the first available and they sat us in the covered outdoor room. We ordered drinks and the Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut topped with their Lobster Sauce ($26.95) and the Baked Stuffed Haddock with their Seafood Stuffing also topped with their Lobster Sherry Cream Sauce ($21.95). Both dishes were very good, but a little bit overpriced for what we got. You get to choose either a baked potato, fries or rice with their daily vegetable (we got 4-5 pieces of asparagus). $27 for the halibut and $22 for the haddock...think it would've been more reasonable if it were $21/$18 respectively, especially with the portions we were served. Our waitress was very nice, drinks came out fast and appreciated the fast service! read more

Huge disappointment!!! Expensive, small portions, bad food. We were travelling from the midwest and had fresh seafood everywhere else on this trip but here. Our salmon was served so quickly that it had to be pre-cooked and sitting out waiting to be served. The salmon wasn't even fresh. This is inexcusable for the New England coast. Extra charge for a few small rolls. You can do much better elsewhere! read more

The fish (and chips) was made of halibut. Delish. Very moist and tasty. Yummy French fries. Same goes for the tacos. My only neutral comment is the strawberries were frozen. The food for lunch was terrible. Please save your money for another restaurant. The lobster soup tasted like it came out of a can and the sandwiches looked disgusting. If Gordon Ramsey came here for lunch, he would be displeased with the taste of this horrendous food. This was disappointing as it was our last meal here in Maine. We usually stop at lobster pounds while we are in Maine. We don't need a restaurant with cloth napkins. After spending $20 for just a lobster for lunch (having to pay extra for butter and a side of awful potato salad), we ended up here. The Chart Room offered an early bird lobster dinner for $18. That included the butter, coleslaw, and a side of potato wedges. Our waitress was nice and so was the view. For the price, the overall meal one of the best that we had on vacation. read more

Visiting Acadia National Park and decided to come here after driving 7 hours. It was great -- right on the water with a beautiful view and casual enough that I didn't have to change out of my travel clothes. Food was also good -- we got the bang bang shrimp appetizer (great but personal preference would be to have the sauce on the side), scallops (get them broiled, so good!), and a lobster roll. Good food, good service, good pricing.  Near lonely as a lighthouse anchored off the town's main drag at Hull's Cove sits the Chart Room. It's cozy with limited head-in parking available to either end of the restaurant. One of the house specialties is Lazy Man's lobster. The real gem is the baked stuffed version with a sherry cream. The crab cakes were delicate and delicious. The clam chowder stands up well to Main Street competition (or vice-versa? Fresh is fresh.) Many dining spots were already closed for the season even during the first week of October. This remained one of the few shining spots in town. If you go before 6 p.m. you could get a 1.5 lb lobster with sides for about $23- add 50% to that if you go after. The ambience is great since it sits right at the shoreline. Wonderful dinner at The Chart Room! We ordered the Seafood Scampi and Macadamia Nut Crusted Hailbut (both were listed as specials). Both were absolutely delicious! The scampi did not skimp on the seafood, and the halibut was cooked perfectly! The ambiance inside was very nice..almost felt under-dressed, but we blended in well with other customers so we felt comfortable. We decided to order dessert, even though we were pretty full from dinner. My husband had been wanting to try blueberry pie since we arrived in Maine, so he ordered that (ale mode) and it was so yummy! I ordered the apple crisp ala mode and it was not edible...they must have dumped an entire bottle of cinnamon in that crisp :-/ It had so much cinnamon that the liquid around the apples was like paste! Our waitress did notice that I didn't eat the crisp and talked to her manager to get the cost removed. It was nice that I didn't have to ask her to remove it. She also told us that they've had numerous complaints, but the chef refuses to change his recipe...strange. Oh well, I didn't have to pay for it and I was already pretty full from dinner, so I wasn't too disappointed by skipping dessert. read more

1+1=3 Beware of a scam run by this restaurant staff! The waiting and cashier staff adds phantom dollars to your dining bill trying to extract extra money from their guests! They list the items you ordered with their respective prices but write the total on the bill for a greater amount. People usually screen their dining bills for accuracy of the items ordered but rarely add up the amounts to see if the bill total foots. We were billed over $30 more than what the price actually had come to be. When we notified the waitress of the mistake, she did not seem surprised nor offered any apology. She took away the bill and brought a revised one a minute later. This did not seem to be a mistake but rather a planned repetitive operation. This restaurant takes their patrons for fools!!! Rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves it. On the water with indoor and outdoor seating, the Chart Room did not disappoint. We ordered the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer(10/10 LOVED), steamers (8/10), and lobster rolls. The lobster rolls were SO GOOD 10/10). The best we've had in bar harbor. Chowder was also amazing.
