Every time I come here for dinner, I truly enjoy the food. The pastas, steaks, and calamari are always delicious. My favorite dish, however, is the arugula salad with avocado and beets. This is not a complaint, just a friendly observation. I've noticed that each time I visit, the salad seems to have a little less arugula than before. Other than that, everything is excellent. As a teenager in Southern California I used to listen to a radio show with Elmer Dills, "The Dining Doctor". Mr. Dills always said that the first thing he did when entering a restaurant was use the restroom. If it was a mess he'd leave; the state of the bathroom, he argued, accurately reflected the state of the kitchen. Elmer Dills would have walked out of The Cheesecake Factory. On the evening of my visit, which began on a Friday around 5:40 p.m., I entered the women's restroom to what can only be described as an enormous mess. Trash receptacles were overflowing and each restroom had toilet paper and paper towels strewn all over the floors. If I wasn't meeting a friend here - who'd suggested the place - I'd have left. When I emerged I wanted to alert someone to the state of things. Not only was there nobody manning a host/hostess station, but there was nobody to greet guests or seat guests. When my friend arrived, we made our way into the bar area and as we did, I flagged down a server to tell him of the status of the women's restroom. At our table, we had to again flag down someone to take our order. A different person subsequently became our server and things were smoother from there on. Before leaving though, I again used the women's restroom only to find that it was still an utter mess. The food and drinks that arrived at my table were fine but the service levels and restroom cleanliness here render that observation moot. I recognize that The Cheesecake Factory is no longer in its heyday but based on this visit I'd surmise that they're close to expiration. read more

Came here - again! - for quick lunch, and as always, had great food and a nice lunch. The place was busier than expected at lunch, a good sign for a change. We were seated quickly, and the four of us quickly settled into our routine. Our server, Francisco, took some initial drink orders while we decided on appetizers. We finally settled on pickle fries, Korean fried cauliflower, and crispy fried cheese. I am seeing "fried" as a common denominator here! The appetizers showed up hot and tasty, and were quite a bit, so we delayed our entree orders as we all pivoted to new options, given out sudden fullness. However, we did go for a chicken Katsu bowl, two little house salads (like a typical simple side salad, but a bit larger in size), and a chopped salad, which is my personal go-to favorite. The food was tasty and fresh, and with a reload of the bread and butter, we could only order some desserts to take home - no sharing a piece today! The food was good, the service was friendly, although a bit absent at times - we did see him helping other tables across the dining room, and didn't see a lot of servers today, so perhaps a one-off, but we did wait a while between the appetizers and ordering the entrees, but not a typical service lapse here. The pasta barely had any pasta, and the chicken and shrimp were a different flavor from the pasta that made it taste different from what I remember. The only relatively good food we had here was the fried mac and cheese and that was the appetizer. For the steak and frites you pay a lot and get very little. It's supposed to be a ribeye but the steak you get is minimum. They do give you a lot of fries. But I wish there was more steak to the dish. Service was pretty good even though they were packed. However depending on seating you will be listening to the yelling in the back. The place is nice inside I'll give them that and it's a chill vibe. Our daughter's birthday meal was a bummer. The server was really sweet, but didn't write anything down and made multiple mistakes with our order. It took 20+ minutes and 3 reminders to get our lemonades, she forgot our side of fries, and one of our salads was supposed to have no croutons. The little gem salad with chicken was disgusting. The chicken was rubbery and inedible. It was the absolute worst salad I've had in a long time. And for $23 that's pretty disappointing. We needed napkins and water after a spill, but didn't see her for 30 minutes so we gave up on those. When the food finally arrived, she asked how it was tasting, I told her the honest truth, she said she would let them know. My daughter's salmon was sitting in a puddle of what I assume is water? My husband asked for my salad to be comped when we got the bill, then a rude manager said he would have needed to see the salad himself to comp it, but it had already been taken away. Six of my friends and I came to celebrate two birthdays and had an 8:30 PM reservation, but we weren't seated until 9:05. Delays can happen, especially on a Saturday, but what was disappointing was the lack of urgency or concern from the host staff. I also tried to discreetly take care of the bill ahead of time by asking a hostess if I could give her my debit card, but I was told I'd have to give it directly to the server--completely defeating the purpose of keeping it a surprise. When we were finally seated, the table was dirty with a sticky residue, and the previous party's check was still sitting there. We had to ask for a wet rag just to clean our own table, which isn't something guests should have to do. To make matters worse, four of the items we ordered were unavailable. I understand that things can run out during busy times, but this many missing items felt excessive. By the end of the night, our bill came out to $451, which made the experience even more frustrating. For a tab that high, you would expect at least some level of customer service recovery--whether that's comping an item, offering a dessert, or even just a sincere apology. None of that happened. On July 25, upon arriving we were told it was going to take 15-20 min to be seated. Ok. I gave the hostess my number to get a text when we could be seated. It was just the 2 of us. We step aside and stand by the cheesecake case. About 3 min later a group of 4-5 came in and were immediately seated. I thought oh they must have a reservation. Then a few minutes later 3 others were sat. I then went up to the hostess and asked why we were being skipped. I even told a man who looked like he could have been a manager or lead from what he was wearing. No one could give me an answer or even apologized. This was on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy. There wasn't a lunch or dinner rush. Anyhow. Our waiter was great. By the time we were seated we were both still upset by what had happened. Again no apology, no some sort of compensation. First time eating here in Corte Madera we are new to the area in San Rafael. We usually eat in Walnut Creek and the food. There is usually amazing so we thought we'd give it a try upon arrival we were told it would be 15- 20 minute wait and that was perfect timing. After sitting down, our waitress greeted us and stated that she was gonna take her order. We ordered our normal food and after we had placed the order, the waitress came back to state that the food that we ordered one of our food dishes that we ordered was no longer available, she brought us a new menu so we could choose something else, but it took her almost 20 minutes to return to take the secondary order of the item that was no longer available, then we also ordered some drinks. They brought us an incorrect drink instead of a margarita that we ordered we got a Mojito, which I'm not a fan of the mint and we also had ordered some soda beverages which we finished and needed refilled also and at the time that she went to return the drink that we ordered and bring the correct one we had to remind her that we were still needing a refill of the soda needless to say this server was a little unexperienced or maybe it was just very busy and it was hard to keep track of the items on the table that needed it. Once I receive my dish I was not a fan of what I ordered. It was pasta dish, which seemed like the noodles were over cooked and it's very greasy so I waited for the waitress to come by to see how maybe I liked the food that was delivered. We waited A long time now for my husband's food finally arrived and I had to flag down a Manager, which stated he would re place my order my food but here we are 40 minutes plus into dinner service with a bad experience the manager offered to refund my food and give me something else at that time. I wasn't even hungry anymore. This was a truly horrific experience in San Rafael, which I thought would be amazing for a date night of me and my husband. Now I feel like I've overspent 130$ on a meal that I didn't enjoy and felt like this was just not something I would do again, and I made sure I did tip my waitress, regardless of the fact. I have two complaints, and I'm saying this as a former waitress with 10 years of experience: 1) The runners need to be given the seating position for each order so they don't stand there and unceremoniously shout "who ordered the gumbo?" It's quite easy to do. HMU for instructions. 2) And the runners need to spot a badly executed entree and correct it before it goes out on the floor. The Cheesecake Factory continues to be one of my favorite go-to spots for a reliably delicious meal. The menu is massive, the service is friendly, and every dish we tried was fantastic. The SkinnyLicious® Shrimp Soft Tacos were excellent -- light, flavorful, and surprisingly satisfying. The shrimp were seasoned perfectly, and the fresh toppings made the whole dish feel bright and refreshing without being heavy. The Spaghetti and Meatballs was classic comfort food done right. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, the sauce tasted rich and homemade, and I asked for a lot of parmesan cheese -- which they generously provided. Total perfection. Renee's Turkey Sandwich, which was simple but really well made -- fresh turkey, crisp veggies, and nicely toasted bread. A classic combination done right. Came with soup and a side salad. The SkinnyLicious® Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Ranch was another winner. Crispy, juicy chicken paired with cool ranch dressing made it feel indulgent even though it's on the lighter menu. And surprisingly, one of the biggest standouts was the Veggie Burger Melt. It's hearty, savory, and grilled perfectly. Even non-vegetarians at the table were impressed by how flavorful it was. Of course, we couldn't skip dessert. The Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake was rich, silky, and heavenly -- one of the best chocolate desserts on their menu. The Strawberry Cheesecake was just as good, with the perfect balance of sweet, creamy, and fruity. The fresh strawberries really make it stand out. The only downside of our visit is the bread wasn't available until after our entrees arrived. Overall, this location continues to deliver great meals and great service every time. I don't go to cheesecake factory often but when I do, I always have a good experience. This is my first time going to this specific location and it did not disappoint. We came around 4pm on a weekend and were able to be seated within 15 minutes. Our server was friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. We even got to redeem our free cheesecake reward with no hassle (we had a problem at a different location before) He knew exactly what to do and we had no issues. For starters, we got the crispy brussel sprouts and the eggroll sampler. The brussel sprouts have a maple-like glaze that isn't too sweet and pairs well with the bacon bits it comes with. The eggroll sampler is usually our go-to appetizer. Our favorite eggroll from the sampler is the tex-mex. For our main course, I tried the rigatoni vodka pasta for the first time. It might be my new go-to! It has a good flavor and spice to it. My boyfriend got the pasta da vinci but subbed for spaghetti noodles instead of penne. The chicken it came with was juicy and tasty but the noodles were a little bland-- had to salt them and it overall tasted like buttered noodles. My husband and I have eaten at the Cheesecake Factory in Corte Madera many times and have been willing to drive from San Francisco to this restaurant. The ambiance is gorgeous with high ceilings, artwork and chandeliers. It is a relaxing and comfortable restaurant to eat at. The staff were friendly and competent and our waitress Kayla was a wonderful server. We loved our drinks and ordered stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, that were delicious!! We then ordered our meals and my husband had the Cajun Salmon with mashed potatoes and an incredible sauce. He loved the dish. He said that the blackened salmon was moist and tasty. I ordetef the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Angel hair pasta. The chicken was tender and was delicious and the angel hair pasta was al dente and I loved the marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese.
